Taxify request is the worst, you can wait for more than 4 hours without rider and their app is problematic
Interesting, I thought that the riders had migrated to Taxify.

Those surge goes off after 1mins, it becoming more difficult to make money with Uber, there are plenty of cars now.

I'm in Yaba area, still hardly get request.
You are right. There is no doubt that demand has gone down. Surge is very limited even on the Island and it goes off quickly. Many times, you may even be in a surge area and not get requests until the surge goes down. I don't think the problem is that there are more drivers. I think that riders are tired of paying surge money and have found other alternatives.

Good morning house, plz is honda CRV 2003 model with a 2.0 engine owk for uber biz, fuel consumption wise and ruggedity?plz I need urgent reply
I will give you the same advice Romeo3 face someone else. Sell off and buy a Nigerian used Toyota Corolla. With a Honda CRV with 2.0 engine you will be spending at least 8k just to make 20k.

Loool. My brother wetin we go do na. We need this money, I will tell you though that it could have been much worse. I have done 14 trips before and made less than 20k. Infact if not for surge, that would most likely always be the case with all the small chops money(without samosa or meat) that somebody will be collecting.

The guy above me drove for 14 hours. Bro u get strength ooo. I don't drive more than 10 hours. Most times I drive 7 to 8 hours. Please I'm having challenge with my network. Which network is best for uber and taxify business. Glo, mtn, airtel or etisalat.
This job is not for the faint-hearted, but no job ever is. What i do is to take little breaks in between trips. So i didn't drive continuously for 14 hours. Etisalat is quite good, i would say it is the best. However, it is quite expensive compared with others.

LOL, "you people are lazy and incompetent" as someone here will say. If I don't see 2.0 surge, I don't attempt to go online on uber.

And they don't pay top-ups again, so you have to manage the small chops without samosa or meat
God bless you my brother. I have said it before, i don't drive on Uber unless there is surge. And it is precisely because i want every trip to be worth it hence while i made that decision. It can be very frustrating when you carry someone from Surulere to Magboro for 1500. On surge however the story changes, so every trip is worth it. And by the grace of God there is always enough surge to make me happy. Yesterday for instance i made over 26k.

DON'T DRIVE ON UBER WITHOUT SURGE OR PROMO!!!!........

Please guys in the Uber biz, how much do the car owners get per week? Need to know if my driver is cheating me by giving me 30k per week . angry Cos I might need to change driver angry.

I understand that Uber slashed its prices sometime ago, but is 30k per week the average that car owners get? Thanks.
Yes it is possible to make 30k per day, but it doesn't mean that your driver is cheating you. What is the make of your car?, What is the condition of the car?, How long has he been driving on Uber?. Does he hold on to the car all week?. Those are the kind of questions that will determine if 30k per week is reasonable or not.

My general advice is this. If he is paying you the 30k every week as he should, and he is taking good care of your car, then don't be greedy. Leave it at the 30k. Let him take care of maintenance though. Just my own opinion

Trust me... uber is not for the faint hearted...

My story....

My uber driver bailed on me after the reduction on fares..

Decided to drive it myself to see how it goes...
Got to the filling station, filled my car with N10,000

Activated the trip metre as i had registered myself finally the previous day.

Long story short...

At the end of the day
I had spent:
Fuel - N10,000
Car wash - N1,000 (after 14hrs driving, you can barely lift a sponge talk more of washing a car at 8pm or later)
Panadol - N200 (very important)(or to okada rider to you a path as the uber map are sometimes unreliable)
Toll gates to pick ups - N500
Feeding - N1000 (2 square)
I had been driving round lagos for 14hrs total..
An increased mileage of 135miles (est from lagos to benin).

I calculated my cost...
I service my car at 3000 miles with mobile 1.
@ 135 miles a day i should service approx every month. Which cost me 30k(6 ltr) with filter. And workmanship approx. (Note 3,000 miles is approx from lagos to portharcourt 6 times)

Divide that, approx 1k per day on service, my a/c was on all through, my engine was on virtually all through as uber kept linking trips before the previous ends.

Well.. i made almost 19k that day after exhausting the fuel to reserve.
But i had spent - N14,000 including service forcast. Excluding forcast repair major/minor

I had serious back pain and slimmed out in hours.. my linkages were worn out and i knew my a/c might fail at such pressures, talk more of the engine that adds approx 150miles every day coupled with exposure to dents.

I calculated my income after expense to know if it could buy another car before this one dies off. I had made just N5,000 assumed profit after 14hrs driving."God forbid" after 30% uber fee deduction on all fares..

I told my self the truth and appreciated the driver..

Its good yeah, but trust me, its not for the FAINT HEARTED with the current review.

A rider took me from lekki ph 1 to deep deep egbeda, the trip was N4,500 at 8pm (i was naive and never knew uber drivers call to reject trips). had to drive back to the island alone.. its was penny wise, pound foolish.

The snap shot above was for the old price, would rather drive a danfo bus or trailer than opt to drive uber now.
I have been driving Uber for a while now and despite the price increase I still make good money by the grace of God. I make between 120k - 130k a week if I decide to work all week. Today alone I have made over 26k (I have posted the pic below) what is the secret?

Simple. Target surge on the Island. I studied the trends and I knew when there will be surge. For example from 4am - 6am, there is usually surge in VI caused by people going home from Clubs. From 5am -6am there is surge in Lekki and its environs cos of people going to the Airport. I can go on, but you catch my drift.

Also, take advantage of this rainy period. There has been a lot of surge.

I posted some guidelines to help on another thread. Maybe I will post it here too.

Hi everyone, i have been following this thread from inception till now and i must say i have really learned a lot.
I drove on uber for a month and two weeks and found it exciting, challenging but interesting. Though my partner had to sell her car due to financial constraint she found herself in.
After going without a car for a month i have gotten another offer and would like to know what the current rental price for a 2007 corolla is. Please i would really appreciate your kind response.
How much have you been making so far on Uber per week?. That will determine how much you deliver. Ideally, 35k is perfect. However, not many partners accept 40k. So if you can do 120k per week ( which is very possible), then agree to 40k. Don't do more than 40k.

Go to your partner dashboard ( I think it is driver.uber.com) and check. I suspect that either your insurance or your drivers license has expired.

Stop arguing like an idle fellow, a Taxify driver has posted his earnings here before, you have the obligation to read through the pages for your own understanding.

Uber is not a good business again, they have managerial problems so forget about all these simulations people are posting here just to lure people into doing Uber by calling other drivers lazy
I have said it before and i repeat again Uber is good business for those that are hardworking and smart. We should stop telling people otherwise. I posted my earnings last week where i made about 130k. This week on Monday i did close to 20k, Tuesday i did close to 25k, i only worked for about 5 hours today because i wanted to do some maintenance on my car , rest and power up for serious work on Thursday and the weekend. By the special grace of God i hope to make about 120k this week. I took a ride as a rider early this month and the driver told me he pays 40k to his partner and he has NEVER defaulted, and this guy closes early o. People are making money on Uber

I feel like people who are abusing Uber are doing it to discourage others so that there will be less drivers, and thus more surge. There is no need for that. The sky is big enough for everyone.

Oga o. Uber and this their selective promo. I am interested in knowing their criteria for choosing who sees what as per promo

@lexylexy did you see the promotion in your app?
BusinessRe: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by elninosanz: 11:39am On Jun 27, 2017
I don't think that's the issue. For starters, my acceptance rate is 88% and my cancellation rate is about 16% so I qualify. Even if I don't qualify, there have been times in the past when I don't qualify and they still show me the promo but then tell me to improve on my completion rate. It still happened two weeks ago. My guess is that for high earners who chase surge they omit them and give the promo to low earners to boost them. I may be wrong though

sophoccles:
You can't see it because your confirmation rate is not high enough. Minimum of 80% or so. . . .

Uber knows the drivers are not actually making enough to break even, so they have instituted a variable earning system where they pay a (top-up) salary to those drivers stup!d enough to ruin their cars in order to validate uber's unrealistic price-regime. So those drivers earn close to the old rate in exchange for taking on every single unprofitable trip that comes their way (e.g. drive 8.4km to pick someone going 1km down the road, drive during heavy rain & flood - when there is always surge, by the way - and end up damaging your car)

If you don't do that stup!d jacky work for them then you essentially work for free. You will never see those promos. . .

I met an Uber driver today who told me that there is currently a promotion going on, where if you drive 60 trips before Monday next week you get 25k. I can't see this promotion on my app. All I can see is the 1x2 boost. Are there people here who are NOT seeing the 60 trips for 25k promotion?. Also, what is the criteria for choosing who gets a particular promotion?

BusinessRe: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by elninosanz: 4:16pm On Jun 22, 2017
I have been following this thread for a while now, but i don't contribute. However, i feel it is imperative to comment now because there are some misconceptions going around. People have been abusing Romeo for sometime now and i think people are being unfair. Uber is still profitable, but it requires smartness and wisdom to make money. I have attached my last week earnings to prove my point(Note that i didn't include my offline trips, and also i didnt work on Sundays as i use Sundays to rest). I have posted some guidelines below to help you increase your earnings)

1. Try to work on the Island from around 4am to 12noon(Infact if possible, work majorly on the Island because of the Surge). There is almost always surge around the Lekki axis. Use your destination trip to get there. If a rider takes you away from the Island, use the destination trip to take you back.

2. If your rider is going to an area where Uber does not operate e.g Ikorodu, Badagry, Ibeju Lekki. Politely ask that they do the trip offline. If they refuse cancel the trip

3. Immediately you get a request, call the rider and ask where they are going to. If the distance they are going is shorter than the distance it will take you to pick them up, cancel immediately

4. Related to the point above, if you are in a surge area and you receive a request out of the surge area, cancel immediately

5. If a rider tells you that you will have to wait for him/her to buy or pick up something, politely ask how long. If you have to wait for a rider for more than 15mins, politely explain to them that Uber does not pay you for waiting. If you have a nice attitude, they will most likely pay you more than the fare. If they insist on not giving you extra and they are rude about it, then gently tell them that you will give them 20mins, if they are not back by then, end the trip and ask Uber for your money. They will pay you back (Note tha this will probably affect your rating so don't do this often)

6. Target long trips especially during surge. Uber does not allow you know where a rider is going, but you can time yourself to receive long trips. For example, if you go to VI/Lekki area area from 4.30am to 6am, you will almost always receive an airport trip during surge time.

7. When it is raining, make sure you are on the road. There is always surge when it rains

8. Take advantage of Uber promotions. Try to always drive in areas and around the time that will allow you take advantage for Uber promotions. if you need to rearrange your working hours to make it happen for that week, then do it. For instance last week Uber promotions was from 12noon to 4am. I made sure that i was working around that time, so unless there was surge before 12 noon i didnt work

9. Be nice to your riders and engage them in meaningful conversations if you can, you will get good tips if you do

10. Finally, maximise Fri- Mon. Those are the peak days on Uber. People do long trips then, and there is increased demand.

If you follow the above, you will make enough money to make you comfortable. Hope this helps someone
