Nairaland / General / EMS Speed Post Tracking Problem by elseohjay(m): 12:22pm On Jul 19, 2012 |
Hi guys, I have requested my siblings back in naija to send me a parcel here in Canada. They have sent it via EMS speedpost since last week. The problem is the parcel which is supposed to take 5 working days max to deliver is no where to be found. I have used the tracking number they provided to track it on the http://www.emsng.com/ website but it keeps saying the item does not exist. Canada post doesn't recognize the tracking number either. I am in a serious dilemma here as I need the document enclosed to sort out an urgent bussiness here within the next day or 2. I heard there's a guy in one of the Lagos post offices who 'helps' people to track such items for a small 'settlement'. I am thinking this might be a fraud. Surely there must be way I can track the item otherwise what's the point in providing a tracking number and online link to track items if this is not working. Anyone has experience like this before and how I can track down my item. I am desperate here. Thanks |

Romance / Re: Why Can't A Nigerian Lady Make Advances At A Man? by elseohjay(m): 5:57pm On Feb 15, 2011 |
Abekeade08: I don't think so Abekeade (nice name). Cultural context varies from places to places. I have met girls in Nigeria who would not hesitate to walk up to a guy and chat him up. Yet there are girls (of Naija extraction) in the UK and US who are as thick as a coconut, yet they'll be complaining anout Naija guys not forthcoming. Good thing you are not one of those. BTW is that you in your profile? One word sis - Hawt! Else-oh-jay |

IMHO, most Naija girls and I'll like to think girls everywhere make advances at men. The contention here as far as I can see is "how it is done". At the risk of sounding stereotypical, women in naija generally are a bit more covert in their advance to men, but there is nothing wrong with that. A smart and willing guy should be able to 'pick' the message and take things from there. It is all about communication guys, subtle things like a sightly prolonged gaze, slight wink and a cheeky smile are means by which our ladies get their messages across. Trust me am a living proof. . I am not sure how many of us (men) will be comfortable to make advance at a girl with a very thick disposition who would even reply to a simple hello or a friendly wink. So why should we be worried if the ladies are not that forthcoming. The point here guys is how much of our Naija men's dispositions encourage or discourage our women from expressing themselves. Moral of the story if, we desire our ladies to be a bit more expressive about their interest, our actions and mindset as men has to encourage that. Now who is winking a me else-oh-jay |

Everyone here calling this a bad move is ignoring the obvious. The dude is 29. In football terms that's like semi-retirement age. Let's face it, it's not like he's lightening the Russian league with goals either. At least not in recent times. To me this a positive move for him. Hopefully a change of terrain might ignite some spark in his form and with some luck may be move to better clubs in the EPL next season. |
Romance / Re: Where Are The Quality Single Nigerian Men Hiding? by elseohjay(m): 12:49pm On Aug 13, 2010 |
I have read through the entire thread. For starters, I have to give kudos to Ladyjide for her openness to 'lay it bare' and dedication to her naija roots. I must say Ladyjide's account/quest here reflects the reality of most single Nigerians, guys and girls (believe it or not) in the diaspora. As someone who have also had to navigate the complex often frustrating route of seeking a culturally compatible partner in diaspora, I make bold to say it not an easy journey. The pool of prospective partners is very limited for the Nigerian singles in the diaspora. Matching cultural compatibility with other regular factors involve in choosing a partner make it a difficult prospect. But it is not Impossible. People have done it, are doing it and will still do it. One major problem as already evident on this thread is that you see yourself as a full blooded Nigerians but to our bothers and sisters back home you may be perceived as someone who has been influenced by 'foreign culture'. for example, what one may perceive as "openness" and assertiveness which are often desirable virtues in this part of the world may be seen as arrogance and aggressions. We have seen some of such reactions already based on the banter between Ladyjide and a few others on this thread My token to all who are at this stage of their lives: Keep an open mind, mix with other Nigerians through churches, social gatherings reunions etc, embrace the strength of your "africaness". Visit home (Nigeria) regularly, build a network of trustworthy Nigerians around yourself both back in Nigeria and wherever you are based. Be ready to learn and accept new things. Above all commit your ways into the hands of he Almighty and it shall be well with you. Stay blessed y'all. |
