As regards Dangote and his 20000 MW of electricity, I think he should, have that done, first his State of origin and place of residence and secondly he should keep it to just the North region and not Nigeria as a whole.


There are others who would do same on their own State of origin and place of residence.

Electricity is not some food you can eat. He produces cement but I wonder how many houses you've built.

Hot money goes into financial instruments and the stock market. It has caused serious harm to economies in the past.

Wise leaders encourage FDI because it lasts. It shows that the investor is in for the long haul.

Having large 'hot' money inflows in a fifth world economy is a recipe for potentially serious instability - when the money flows out - as it most certainly will.

Smart leaders look for FDI because its harder for FDI to just close factories and sell off plant and machinery and land once some profit has been extracted. Not impossible, but it is harder.

It isn't enough to say investment has risen under BAT. The question is: what kind of investment?

Nigeria needs FDI. She doesn't need 'hot' money.

The problem is that FDI (the good kind) tends to look for well run places with institutions and laws and rules and sensible protocols. Not countries where the average public official is always looking for someone to fleece. Not countries where prebendalism is the norm.

Until BAT does something about public sector reform, this country will continue to attract foreign 'investment' that can (and will) disappear with the click of a computer mouse button. The investment that really counts - factories, equipment, plants, training resources etc.) will go elsewhere.

The so called "hot money" where do you think they are going to?
Do you think because they call it "hot" then it is bad?
Why are you not talking about the disparities between the 2023 and 2023 numbers?

We are talking about government capital expenditures. Moreover, when you consider the revenue this government is generating , compare to what you listed above you will cry.

The value of what is on ground doesn't commensurate with the revenue being generated due to subsidy removal ,aggressive tax policies and floating of our exchange rate. The ultimate goal of any government is the welfare of its citizens not the otherwise

By the way, government money alone cannot develop a country.
The right policies and conducive environment is needed to attract capital both local and foreign.
