From the above details , this means that the Delta State University, Abraka school fees will attract above two hundred and fifty thousand naira (#250,000) for Deltans and three hundred to four hundred thousands for non Deltans Reaction: The President UPU Youth wing worldwide Hon. Comrade Ovie Igho , a former Delta State University Students Union Government President, an indigene , a Pan Niger Delta youth leader has directed the vice Chancellor of Delta State University, Abraka Professor Victor Peretomode to with immediate effects revisit the 2017/2018 academic session acceptance fee/school fee to avoid to total show down of the university. He warned the school management and senate council to behave like fathers and mothers to their children who cares and protect their wards irrespective of linage. Because if the school management and senate council do not care about the less privilege wards who also attend the university, that is they are calling for the university close down because the university was established to bring close education to the people and encourage every child to earn tertiary certificate even with minimal money and not to discourage us. He also call on the student bodies such as Students Union Government, JCC/NANS to step up their mandate mechanisms to protect and fight against any form of oppression, humiliation and extortions by the any institutional management because they are be voted to act as intermediary between the school management and the students and not other way around. Though , he said he is on the top of issue as well to prefer the best ways forward to accommodate all qualified or admitted students into the school without any inches of financial constrains as the proposed fees has already threaten many to withdraw even when they have not be admitted. The President described the actions of the school management and senate council as mischievous, barbaric and evil due to high level of greed, corruption and avarice in public offices. But we will not accept this nonsense and injustice. Its a big shame and disgrace to the delta state government to deprived Deltans of education due to selfishness, wickedness and greed of some individuals enrichment. Meanwhile, he said the community has resolved to push adhesively without fear or favor of any kind, he asserted. Source: http://primebaze.com.ng/2017/10/12/delsu-acceptanceschool-fees-price-hike/ |
Health / How Monkey Pox Started In Bayelsa Community - Full Gist by ElTommyBlaq(m): 6:11am On Oct 08, 2017 |
Residents of Agbura community in Ogbia Local Government Area where the suspected Monkey Pox epidemic started were not bothered about the disease, investigations showed yesterday. It was also gathered contrary to insinuations the index case of the epidemic came down with the disease after consuming monkey, the teenager only had constant contact with a monkey, which he played with it as a pet. When our correspondent visited the community, which is not far from Otuoke, the community of former President Goodluck Jonathan, the localsv were seen going about their normal activities. A commercial motorcyclist claimed he had never heard about the epidemic and directed our correspondent to speak to another resident, who identified himself simply as Nathan. But Nathan said there was nothing serious about the monkey pox in the riverine community, adding the family of the index case resides on Unity Street around the area. “We only heard that one family from the eastern part of the country travelled home where they are they ate monkey so when they came back to our community, some of them came down with the sickness,” he said. At unity Street, our correspondent observed people around the area were going about their activities without fear. Contrary to reports, neighbours had not relocated from the street. A neighbour, who spoke in confidence, said only an 11-year-old boy and his six years old younger brother came down with symptoms of the epidemic. He stated the case of the younger brother was not as severe as his elder brother. Apart from the two victims, nobody living with them had come down with the sickness, the neigbour hinted. He said parents of the victims had not shown signs of the epidemic, adding their mother owned a restaurant somewhere in Yenagoa, the state capital. On how the victims could have contracted the suspected virus, he said: “We don’t really know. But all I can tell you is that one of the neighbours with a shop had a monkey. “The victims used to play with the monkey. The monkey was like their pet. The monkey used to lick their bodies and climbed on them. That was all we know before their sickness occurred”. It was gathered the victims were later taken away by health experts to the University Teaching Hospital Okolobiri where they were treated and brought back home. The victims were reportedly asked to remain indoors, pending total recuperation. The source said: “When the health experts came they asked our neighbour to take the monkey away We don’t know where the monkey was taken to. “But the experts have been coming around to check the health statuses of some people around here. “They said they would soon carry out a general medical examination of everybody. But we don’t think it is anything serious”. Bayelsa State Government has established a 12- member rapid response team consisting of top medical professionals and public health experts to check possible spread of the monkey pox. Commissioner for Health, Prof. Ebimitula Etebu, who set up the committee, reassured the epidemic was under control adding that there was not need to panic. Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, said government had embarked on practical steps to ensure the disease was prevented from spreading. source: http://primebaze.com.ng/2017/10/08/monkey-pox-started-bayelsa-community-full-gist/ |

TV/Movies / TSTV To Begin Commercial Operation On Nov. 1 by ElTommyBlaq(m): 12:28pm On Oct 07, 2017 |
Telcomm Satellite TV (TSTV) says its newly inaugurated pay TV, TSTV Africa, will begin commercial operation on Nov. 1. Its Managing Director, Mr Bright Echefu, made this known while briefing newsmen on Saturday in Abuja. Echefu added that TSTV would launch its services with about one million decoders nationwide. He said that at least 5,000 decoders TSTV would be released to the public next week for free, adding that it would use the first set of decoders with one month free subscription to test run its services. “Commercialization of our decoders will resume officially on Nov. 1 and by that time, every part of Nigeria would have TSTV decoders for people to buy. “We are releasing about one million which can go round and our target for the first quarter is one million units. “In every quarter we will bring one million units and we are targeting four million units within the next one year. “I can tell you categorically that some decoders will be released next week for Nigerians to test and we are going to cover the 36 states of the federation. “These decoders are going to be free and it close to 5,000 units to test and that will last for two weeks,’’ he said. Echefu disclosed that the delay in releasing the decoders to the public was to ensure that dealers were properly scrutinized so that the decoders do not fall into the wrong hands. He explained that the decoder would be sold to Nigerians at a subsidized rate. According to him, the landing cost of the decoder is N28,000. “We don’t want a situation where someone would pick our decoders and dump them somewhere. “That is why we are very careful because of competition. “ We have received well over 6,000 applications and it has been overwhelming processing these people; but so far, we have been able to accredit more than 748 dealers and we have received applications from more than 3,000 of them. “That is why we have not commercialized our services even though we are the ones losing because we have enough decoders to cover the whole of Nigeria. “But it will be unfair with all the money put in for us to give decoders out and those decoders don’t get to the end users,’’ Echefu added. TSTV boss said that measures had been put in place to ensure its sustainability in terms of services, pledging that the organisation would be envied by many Nigerians in the next ten years. He disclosed that the organisation currently had a total of 250 staff on direct employment, while it expects to that indirect employment would hit 10,000 at take off. According to him, TSTV has improved on its transmission facilities to overcome weather challenges while expressing happiness over the acceptance that Nigerians. He praised the Federal Government for the three years tax relief granted to the company to encourage more investors to come to Nigeria. He said that the company would consolidate on the new tax policy to grow its business in the country and recoup its investment. On the alleged copyright infringement on two international content providers, Turner Broadcasting System and beIN sports, Echefu said the company entered into partnership agreement with every concerned organisation. According to him, TSTV will air CNN and beIN sport channels. He commended DSTV for creating value for Nigerian content. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the new satellite pay TV was inaugurated on Oct. 1 but is yet to be viewed by the public. Sports / Nigeria Vs Zambia: Five Super Eagles Players To Watch Out For by ElTommyBlaq(m): 8:41am On Oct 07, 2017 |
With Nigeria set for a showdown against the Chipolopolo of Zambia for a spot in the 2018 World Cup, we highlight five Nigerian players to look out for in the cracker at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo. Victor Moses The mercurial Moses, flying wingback at Chelsea and talismanic winger with the Super Eagles has proved he is Nigeria’ s hottest footballing property with his performances in the World Cup qualifiers . Victor Moses showed his pre -eminence in both legs of the fixture against Cameroon . Time and again he was scythed down by the Cameroonian defenders who were frustrated by his trickery and constant running. The winger (or wingback) has three goals in Nigeria’s World Cup qualifying campaign including his brace in his superlative performance against Algeria. The 26-year old missed the reverse fixture of this tie at Ndola but at Uyo, he certainly will be chomping at the bit to lead the Super Eagles to the 2018 World Cup in Russia with his otherworldly display. Moses is full of edge of the seat moments and he’s sure to deliver in Nigeria’ s most important game yet in the qualifiers. Mikel Obi The elder statesman , totem of everything calm and serene . The love affair with Mikel Obi was not always this strong . Mikel Obi didn’ t have the fans’ adulation and high praise some months back . It was more side-eyed acknowledgement of his status as a cog in the Super Eagles . Injury happened , he missed the South Africa game and the midfield got thrust into bedlam status. Then the true worth of the Super Eagles captain was known . Mikel didn ’t disappoint. Not fully fit he donned the Green and White and strode the pitch majestically restoring calm to the midfield while connecting the midfield to the attack and notching a goal and an assist. To further state his importance, after he was substituted in the second leg of the Cameroon game, the midfield found it difficult to keep possession against the press of their opponents. Also the midfield lost its structure and the Cameroonians found it easy to break through the lines to assert themselves and ultimately getting a penalty that led to the equalizer ten minutes after Mikel Obi trudged off the pitch . Leon Balogun The Lion of the famed Oyinbo wall. The Mainz player was an assured figure in the defence in Nigeria’s last game quenching opposition attacks while starting them for the Super Eagles. The defender’ s excellent reading of the game was on show as he stepped out of the defence to make timely interceptions as well as that last ditch tackle that remains etched into our sub-conscious . The swaggering display by the 29-year old alongside his partner William Troost- Ekong has drawn comparisons with the legendary duo of Taribo West and Uche Okechukwu. Balogun ’s confidence with the ball at his feet is amazing as the central defender played out of the back with consummate ease and when there were no passing options, he simply walked the ball into the attack from the defence. Easy peasy. Odion Ighalo The Changchun Yatai striker proved a menace to the Cameroonian defence with his movement and his physicality. After being overlooked for the South African tie, the forward was recalled for the Cameroon games and he acquitted himself brilliantly. The former Watford striker intelligently dropped deep to receive balls when he felt starved of service a trait he hardly showed in his previous displays with the Super Eagles . The striker in several games for Nigeria has always cut an isolated figure in attack taking up high starting positions and detached from the midfield and gameplay generally. He has shown he can mix it up now, dropping deep , drifting wide , playing on the defenders shoulder, it is the whole nine yards now. With more strings added to bow, as well as his contributions in and around the box, scoring goals or creating chances the 28 -year -old is certainly one to watch. Oh, his signature ‘Iggy Chop ’, a simple yet effective move he uses to dribble past defenders to create a shooting angle is one thing to look out for. Alex Iwobi His last game at Uyo was nothing short of a disaster, largely ineffective and the Super Eagles were defeated against South Africa. Certainly, Gernot Rohr learnt from that game an important lesson : how not to use Alex Iwobi in a match. On how to use him , Arsene Wenger might have shown Rohr a trick or two. The midfielder who got a goal in Arsenal ’s last game played in the inside right channel where he combined well with Alexander Lacazette. The Super Eagles certainly will bear a different look with the youngster back in the side after he missed the doubleheader to Cameroon through injury . His creativity and intelligent use of the ball will add another dimension to the Eagles’ attack while also aiding ball retention. The 21- year old got a goal in the reverse fixture of the tie against Zambia, his only goal for the Super Eagles so far , he’d certainly love to add another. source: http://primebaze.com.ng/2017/10/07/nigeria-vs-zambia-five-super-eagles-players-watch/ |
