Players and officials of the victorious Super
Falcons have threatened to take their protest
to the doorsteps of President Muhammad
Buhari if the Sports Ministry and the Nigeria
Football Federation (NFF) continued to
withhold their allowances.

The team returned from Yaoundé on Sunday
morning after winning their eighth African
Women Nations Cup title by beating the
hosts, Lionesses of Cameroon, 1-0 on
Saturday.
They left for Abuja on Sunday evening after
having lunch with Sports Minister, Solomon
Dalung and NFF President, Amaju Pinnick in a
brief reception organized by Emzor
Pharmaceuticals, one of the federation’s
sponsors.

At the lunch, the players expected the
minister to tell them when and how their
emoluments, including camp allowances,
winning bonuses and nine months salary for
the coaches, would be settled.
“The minister only told us we will meet in
Abuja and left with the 2.00 p.m. flight to the
federal capital. We came in some hours later
and since then, we have been waiting at
Agura Hotel to hear from either the minister
or the NFF.

“So, if by the close of work today (yesterday)
nothing comes from them, we may take our
action. I don’t know why this country always
wants people to embarrass it before doing
the needful. We may be forced to march to
the Presidential Villa or the Senate to register
our grievances. “Look at the way we were
treated like orphans in Cameroon. None of us
could buy anything for our loved ones back
home just because there was no single kobo
to do shopping. Is it fair?” the player asked.
NFF president, Amaju Pinnick, had told The
Guardian at the Murtala Mohammed Airport
shortly after the Super Falcons’ arrived on
Sunday that the federation was cash
strapped, adding, however, that they would
do everything possible to make the players
and officials smile.

“You didn’t give what you don’t have,”
Pinnick answered when pressed to state
exactly when the players and officials would
get their emoluments.

He added, however: “We will see what we
can do to put smiles on their faces because
they really made the country proud.”

Security forces deployed heavily in Banjul Friday
as counting got under way after a tense election,
with early results showing Gambian President
Yahya Jammeh had lost ground in the capital, his
traditional stronghold.

Counting was slow and there was still little
indication of the eventual winner of an election
marked by an ongoing internet blackout in the
small west African nation.
However, opposition leader Adama Barrow scored
a symbolic victory in the capital Banjul, highlighting
the strong challenge posed to Jammeh, who is
standing for a fifth term.

Barrow took nearly 50 percent of the vote in
Banjul's three constituencies, according to the
Independent Electoral Commission (IEC).
Jammeh had 43 percent while third party candidate
Mama Kandeh took 7.6 percent, the IEC said.
Nationwide, less than 15 percent of the ballots had
been counted from the almost 890,000 registered
voters.

Before dawn broke, military and police, some
covering their faces, set up checkpoints every few
hundred metres on the outskirts of the capital,
while citizens were inside sleeping or watching the
results come in.

- 'Generally peaceful conditions' -

Both Barrow and Jammeh said on Thursday they
had won by a huge margin.
"Power belongs to the people. You cannot stop us
and you cannot stop them," Barrow said.
Jammeh, who once said he would govern for a
billion years if God willed it, predicted "the biggest
landslide in the history of my elections."
The United States said turnout appeared to be high
and that the vote took place in "generally peaceful
conditions", while the IEC hailed "a very successful
election."

The US State Department and Human Rights Watch
voiced concern however over a blanket cut to
internet and international phone calls, as well as
claims of voter intimidation.

"The government's communications cutoff and
threatened protest ban are only likely to increase
tensions between the government and opposition
groups," said Babatunde Olugboji from Human
Rights Watch.

At his final campaign rally, Jammeh warned that
protests over the election result would not be
tolerated, saying The Gambia "does not allow"
demonstrations.
Information Minister Sheriff Bojang said Thursday
the shutdown was to stop the spread of "false
information" over the results, and described it as a
"security measure".

There was a brief resumption of service around
5:00am (0500 GMT), but diplomats believe the
shutdown could last until Sunday.
The opposition has relied on messaging
applications and texts to organise rallies and move
around roadblocks set up in Banjul during the last
week of campaigning.

The winner in the three-way race will serve a five-
year term in the tiny former British colony with
pristine beaches that occupies a narrow sliver of
land surrounded by French-speaking Senegal.
Jammeh is running for a fifth term with his ruling
Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and
Construction (APRC).

He faces previously unknown businessman
Barrow, chosen as the opposition flag bearer by a
group of political parties who have joined forces for
the first time and won unprecedented popular
support.
Third candidate Kandeh is popular among The
Gambia's Fula people and is a former ruling party
MP running for the Gambia Democratic Congress
(GDC).
All three men are 51, born in 1965, the year The
Gambia won independence from Britain.
If Barrow were to win -- a tall order both in terms
of votes and the likelihood of Jammeh giving up
power -- he would likely decide to serve a three-
year term at the head of a transition reform
government.

- Borders closed -

No professional international observers were on
the ground for the vote, diplomats confirmed, but a
small team of African Union experts monitored
events along with Banjul-based US and European
delegations already present in the country.

A Senegalese security source confirmed to AFP in
Dakar that The Gambia had closed the borders on
Thursday, a common occurrence during elections
in west Africa.
Jammeh seized power in a 1994 coup and has
survived multiple attempts to remove him from the
presidency.

Some 60 percent of the population live in poverty in
The Gambia, and a third survive on $1.25 (1.20
euro) or less a day, according to the UN.

Two of South America’s most celebrated

Ronaldinho are set to be reunited and join
Chapecoense for six months, to help the
Brazilian club rebuild after this week’s tragic
air crash in Colombia, which all but wiped

Reports from the continent, suggest that the
two players will offer their services for free
with the 38-year-old Riquelme explaining
that; “My brother and my friends have asked
me to do it so let’s see what happens”. 36-

size, 14000-seater Stadium, that is probably as
good as most of what you'll find anywhere in the
country.



That's not the best part. This stadium was built
with the school's internally generated revenue.
This project was executed under the leadership of
the Polytechnic's Rector, Dr. Jacob S. Oboreh.

How awesome is this stadium?••

There's a standard football pitch. The flood lights
are perfect for night events. There are eight lane
tracks for track sports. There's a commentary
box, fully sealed roofing. And no matter how bad
your bladder problem is, there are 139 toilets and
52 urinaries all around the stadium.

There are 15 furnished dressing rooms with
showers and a V.I.P lodge. And the car park?
Massive.

What do the students stand to gain?••

Besides the fact that the students get to benefit
from the sport facilities for sporting activities and
other social events, they get an advantage for a
factor that plagues Nigerian students; practical
experience.

Most of the execution of the project is reported to
have been executed by Engineers in the school.

Jacob S. Oboreh?
Since assumption of office on March 28, 2012, Dr.
Jacob Snipps Oboreh set out on a crusade to
revamp the school infrastructurally.

involved were the Building Technology and Civil
Engineering departments.

Other infrastructure projects executed include fire
stations, lecture theatres, roads, and a bunch of
others. The real tragedy is that his tenure as
Rector ends in 2017.

WHY IS MYWAPBLOG.COM BEING CLOSED?
[I]
First and foremost, I worded the post wrong when I
said MyWapBlog.com is closing “due to personal
reasons”. What I actually wanted to say is that is it
my personal decision to close MyWapBlog.com and
there is no outside force making me do that. This
was to prevent unnecessary rumors from
spreading. There are always problems and hurdles
in everything. There were many hurdles in running
MyWapBlog.com. Much more than anyone knows
but there was never a question of closing the
service down or even selling. I never, ever thought
that but in the past one year there have been
instances when circumstances have regularly been
tough and not the usual day-to-day issues or
compromises that we have to and we always live
with but something that sucks life, passion,
motivation an inspiration out of you. Throughout the
past year I have been dealing with such
circumstances and keeping hope alive, finding
solutions but in vain. The circumstances leave me
with only one choice.
Now after a year, I am 27, my whole life ahead of
me. If I don’t close the service now I am afraid I’ll
still have to close it later. I can only avoid the fate
but not completely change it. Fate will catch up with
me.
This is a job that requires that I (and everyone
involved) be passionate about it. That’s what makes
me work on adding features, reply to emails
personally; to think about different ways to solve
problems and provide new and better ways to make
blogging a joy. It is really hard to continue when I
know I cam not giving my 100%.
To all those people that think they’d be devastated
by the loss - think about my loss. I am a mature
man; I have been running the service for eight
years - longer than perhaps many of you would
have been using the internet. Don’t get me wrong - I
only want to convey that it is the single toughest
decision of my life. It will definitely impact my life
big time. But, we always look forward to a better
tomorrow.
I know my obligations, and therefore am working
hard in developing a tool to export all your articles
(posts) and possibly also categories and comments
via XML file that you can upload to Blogger and/or
and most of your posts (possibly
along with categories and comments) will be
migrated (transferred) to the new platform smoothly

With a heavy heart I’d like to announce the closure of MyWapBlog.com due to personal reasons. Our service will no longer be available after 15th November 2016.
I can understand that this will cause a lot of rumors, gossip, sadness, resentment and feelings of loss but I ask everyone to please not spread any rumors. This is due to personal reasons that can neither be made public nor will help the cause even if made public.
I hope everybody will understand... We are sorry but the time has come to say goodbye. MyWapBlog.com will always love you. And I hope you’ll have a place in your heart for MyWapBlog.com. My gtb and fidelity accounts we're freezed and are still frozen up till now for no reason due to a mishap from gtb... Few weeks ago I went to gtbank to complain that my ATM card isn't working. only to be arrested at their bank and was accused that a certain sum of five hundred and sixty three thousand was transferred from mine or a gtb account (initially they said it was from mine. Later they said it was from another gtb customer account) to my fidelity account which happens to be a false accusation..

I had to print my fidelity statement of account and show to the police before I was granted bail. My statement of account shows that there was no such transaction. There has never been any transfer from gtb to fidelity... Also I am yet to see the said complainant of the case. My accounts have been illegally frozen. .fidelity bank said they we're not informed by any agency why my account was freezed. I also have accounts in other banks and they are working perfectly fine. And all my savings happen to be at fidelity bank..

Its more than a month now and my accounts are still freezed...

They are yet to tell me if the money is a spirit.. Because clearly my fidelity statement of account shows that no money entered my account from gtb or anywhere.. All the money In my fidelity was deposited by me... So am very surprised at gtb... They are yet to explain to me... And their customer care at asaba branch is so rude.....

I need their headquarters to kindly look into this and resolve the issue... Because even at the station,,,, the fidelity account that was shown to me by the police as where the money was paid into,,, does not belong to me.... So am surprised why my account is frozen.. Because according to their operation manager in asaba,,,, she said the restriction was done from their headquarters
