Several aggrieved electricians in America have sued president Donald Trump to court claiming he refused to pay them fully after they had completed the work he asked them to do.

The electricians are those who rushed work on President Trump’s newly opened hotel in Washington, D.C.. They say they are owed more than $2 million, and the contractor has filed a lawsuit to force payment from Trump.

According to USA Today, Freestate Electrical filed the suit in D.C. Superior Court alleging Trump’s company asked for a rush order on the hotel before its soft opening in September and the grand opening shortly before Election Day to complete fire alarm and electrical work.

Trump’s company paid $15 million on the contract, but withheld payment on the final installment, the lawsuit says.

“Acceleration of Freestate’s work required Freestate’s crews to work nonstop, seven days per week, 10 to 14 hours per day, for nearly 50 consecutive days,” the lawsuit says, adding the extra work was at the Trump company’s direction so that it could open before the election and get positive press coverage.

The lawsuit alleges Trump’s company agreed to pay one-third of the remaining bill, which the electricians deem “unreasonable.” The electrical company formerly filed a lien on the hotel for unpaid work.

“Trump’s actions in refusing to pay for work performed, after a project has opened, is a repeated practice of the Trump Organization on various projects; evidencing a typical business practice meant to force subcontractors to accept ‘pennies on the dollar,” the lawsuit alleges.

Attorneys for the electricians also took time in the filing to point out the confusion over Trump’s continued lease with the General Services Administration.

That 2014 lease, attached as an exhibit to the suit and signed by Trump, says “no elected official of the Government of the United States shall be admitted to any share or part of this Lease, or to any benefit that may arise therefrom.”

Attorneys for the Trump Organization did not immediately return a request for comment.

Factional Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP,) Ali Modu Sheriff has said that leaders of the party came to his house and begged him lead the party.

He revealed this while speaking on Thursday, December 29, in Makurdi, Benue state.

“I was invited, begged and followed to my house by all the leaders of PDP to come and lead the party. I told them that if I must lead, the party must be returned to the people,” Sheriff said.

“Today PDP has only 12 governors as against the 28 we had. Regrettably, of the 12, only four of them want to control and destroy the party. These are people who are not fit to be local government council chairmen— I will continue to resist such,” he added.

Sheriff, who argued that the party’s constitution does not make any provision for caretaker position, lambasted Prof. Jerry Gana, for appearing on television a few days ago to say that 90 percent of the people are with the former Governor Ahmed Makarfi-led faction.

“Jerry Gana of all people talking on television when he does not even have a party card, he has never won an election and cannot even win election in his ward. You don’t sit down in Abuja to determine the fate of the people at the grassroots who are the owner of the party. This party must be given to the owners which is the grassroots,” he added.

The PDP has been at the centre of a leadership crisis since May when attempts to remove Sheriff as chairman failed. Sheriff accused the four PDP governors of working behind the scene to remove him.

US President Obama on Thursday, accused Russia of hacking and interfering with the US presidential election on orders from President Vladimir Putin. Even though he had previously said, on several occasions, that he didn’t think the election was rigged in any way. He ordered 35 Russian intelligence operatives to leave the country as part of sanctions ordered for what he said where the country’s attempts to ‘interfere with democratic governance’ and harassment of U.S. diplomatic officials in Russia.
In a statement he released while announcing the sanctions against Russia, he launched a scathing attack on Putin’s Kremlin. He all but named Ptuin in his statement as the brain behind the hacking. The said the hacking was ‘ordered at the highest level’. The 35 diplomats were given 72 hours to leave the US with their families. So they have till Sunday to leave.
Other sanctions include revealing in public exactly what technical information the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI hold on Russian hacking capabilities.
Obama also shut down two Russian compounds, one in New York and one in Maryland, which he said had been used for intelligence-related purposes.
And he introduced financial sanctions on the two Russian spy agencies, the GRU and the FSB, four named GRU officers, and three companies said to have provided ‘material support’ for the GRU’s hacking.
Russia responded to President Obama’s sanctions by reportedly closing the Anglo-American School of Moscow, a facility for the children of American, British, and Canadian diplomats.
Dmitry Peskov, a Putin spokesman, told reporters on a conference call that Moscow doubted the effectiveness of the measures, since Obama will leave office in just three weeks.
He said:
‘Such steps of the U.S. administration that has three weeks left to work are aimed at two things: to further harm Russian-American ties, which are at a low point as it is, as well as, obviously, deal a blow on the foreign policy plans of the incoming administration of the president-elect,’.
However, senior administration officials said that they expect the sanctions to stick after Donald Trump takes over.
The official said:
‘These are executive actions, so if a future president decided that he wanted to allow in a large tranche of intelligence agents, presumably a future president could invite that action. We think it would be inadvisable,’. ‘Hypothetically you could reverse those sanctions, but it wouldn’t make a lot of sense.’ Michael McFaul, the former U.S. ambassador to Russia, said Obama’s measures were ‘appropriate and better late than never.’

Lagos – A 33-year-old man, Kema Akejelu on Thursday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court accused of beating up his wife and throwing her off a storey building.

The accused, a carpenter, who resides at Seun Nwachi St., Idimu, a suburb of Lagos, is facing a two-count charge bordering on assault.

The prosecutor, Insp. Simeon Inuoha told the court that the offence was committed on Nov. 13 at the accused’s residence during a fight between the accused and his wife, Oghenekvewe over her coming back home late.

“The accused beat up his wife and pushed her from a storey building which caused her two ankles to dislocate, ” he said.

The offences contravened Sections 170 and 171 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. The accused, however, pleaded not guilty, and the Chief Magistrate, Mrs B. O Osunsanmi granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum. She adjourned the case to Feb. 15, for mention. (NAN)

The first time this budget analysis series ran was for the 2016 budget; and it becomes visible each day that the 1810 page document was a horrid, hurriedly-put, corrupt-conduit-filled piece of executive cluelessness.

Well, since I’m more of a realist than any of the other-ists, I’ll just say that the fact that the world lost an entire tree to the making of the paper it was inked on is a tragedy. We have been given a sequel; the 2017 budget was presented to the National Assembly by the President in the presence of the ministers who drafted it- and even slept while the presentation was on - and it was called the “Budget of Recovery and Growth.”

If you noticed, it is quite a change from the previous budget of change just like the government’s change mantra. Here are some quotes from the President’s speech on what when passed, will be arguably the most important document in the country - sorry, just checked and it is 63 paragraphs long so I will just skip to analysing the 2017 budget as we await the implementation report of the 2016 budget.

The 2017 budget is N7.298 trillion. According to the government, this comprises of

i. Statutory transfers of N419.02 billion;

ii. Debt service of N1.66 trillion;

iii. Sinking fund of N177.46 billion to retire certain maturing bonds;

iv. Non-debt recurrent expenditure of N2.98 trillion; and

v. Capital expenditure of N2.24 trillion (including capital in Statutory Transfers).

We will begin with the State House budget, which is, 42,917,666,214. This almost double what the previous government budgeted for this in 2015 which was 23,465,865,117. Out of this, 19,970,000,000 is the total capital budget while the total recurrent budget stands at 22,947,666,214. The total overhead is 10,171,082,268 and that for total personnel is 12,776,583,946.

This is the first piece in the #SaatahBudgetSeries2017, and I will be looking at the budget of the State House (which was referred to as Presidency in previous budgets).

STATE HOUSE

There are 16 agencies under the State House, and they are: State House Headquarters, The Office of the President, The Office of the Vice President, Office of the Chief of Staff to the President, Office of the Chief Security Officer to the President, State House Medical Centre, State House Lagos Liaison Office, Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGS), National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS). Kuru, Bureau of Public Enterprises, National Emergency Management Agency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Bureau of Public Procurement, Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission and its centres, and Office of the Chief Economic Adviser to the President which funny enough the President only appointed in August of this year.

The first piece of poo I was hit with, ironically, was the “Sewage Charges” budget of the State House Headquarters” It was put at 52,827,800. That means 144,733 every day. That’s a lot of poo as far as the eye can see. Compare this with the “Sewage Charge” budget for 2015 which was 4,957,143 and for 2016 which was 6,121,643. This simply means the poo charge went up by 1050% compared with the 2015 budget, and 850% when compared with the 2016 budget. The 52,827,800 question I want to ask now is what exactly are they shitting there?

The State House Headquarters budget for “Honorarium/Sitting Allowance” is 556,592,736. Let me remind you that the previous government budgeted 174,471,371 for same item in 2015, while in 2016, this administration jacked it up to 507,518, 861.

The State House Headquarters still continues to budget for “Residential Rent.” This is something I have failed to understand up till now and I wouldn’t mind someone explaining it to me. That aside, the amount budgeted for this “Residential Rent” in 2015 was 22,459,575, while in 2016 it was put at 27,735,643. I don’t know how or why, but in the 2017 budget of “Recovery and Growth,” this same “Residential Rent” went up to 77,545,700. Whoever the Landlord of that State House Headquarters is, in this economy, he must be a very lucky and fortunate chap.

There is an 8,539,200 budget for “Anti-Corruption” and I’m perplexed as to what exactly it is.

The last time there was a budget for “Motor Vehicles” or anything like that was in the 2014 budget by the last administration and it was a total of 132,200,000. This government came in in 2016 and somehow concluded that the State House Headquarters did not have enough “Motor Vehicles,” so they started by budgeting 877,015,000 which was something like a 650% increase from the 2014 budget for the same item.

The State House Headquarters still doesn’t think there are enough “Motor Vehicles,” so in 2017 they have budgeted a total of 197,000,000 for the purchase of “Motor Vehicles” and “Buses.” At this rate, by 2019, this government would’ve succeeded in buying enough “Motor Vehicles” to drive the entire country off the edge.

2016 will end up being one of the darkest years in this country in relation to power supply. So, I do not understand where the State House Headquarters got megawatts from in 2016 that they have now budgeted 319,625,753 for “Electricity Charge” in 2017. Just so you know, the “Electricity Charge” for 2016 was put at 45,332,433.

The 2016 State House Headquarters budget for the “Rehabilitation/Repairs of Residential Buildings” was 642,568,122, while in 2017, I don’t know, but it looks like an enormous asteroid managed to hit and destroy the residential building at the State House Headquarters because what is budgeted for “Rehabilitation/Repairs of Residential Buildings” happens to be 5,625,752,757.

As usual, knowing that we have travelling President, 739,487,784 has been budgeted for “International Travel & Transport.” Last year only the Vice President budgeted for books. This year neither the President nor his Vice budgeted for it. Apparently, they’re tired of reading.

Just like in last year’s budget, the entire capital budget for the National Emergency Management Agency is for the “Construction of Office Building,” all 374,473,456 of it.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has budgeted 5,999,070,468 for the “Construction/Provision of Office Buildings.” In 2016 they spent 58,434,683 on that. If you do the math, that’s an increase of over 10,000% and qualifies as an economic and financial crime.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission also budgeted 230,536,000 for “Legal Services.” I don’t know if this is enough, but since they say it is; and as long as none of that amount goes to the case-bumbling, Twitter SAN, Festus Keyamo, no wahala.

In 2016 the EFCC budgeted 93,136,000 for “Motor Vehicles,” but since maybe the corruption they should be fighting has gotten faster, they have upped that to 455,000,000. So if you had a plan of running away from the EFCC, I am sorry, they will have almost half a billion Naira worth of cars to chase you with. It is a car race now you know.

There a line item in the EFCC budget that mentions the “Procurement and Upgrade of Microsoft Product Licences” which 142,237,198 was set aside for. This is as vague as something can get, and when it comes to corruptly enriching yourself, being vague is the best bet.

In 2016 3,260,000 was budgeted by the EFCC for the “Purchase of Photocopiers” while in the 2017 budget 13,755,000 is the magic number.

1,100,595,088 has been budgeted for the “Furnishing of the New Head Office” whose construction cost in the 2016 budget was put at 7,912,502,911. Now, guess what. There is a budget for the “Consultancy of the Head Office Project” and 244,727,624 is budgeted for it. I am sorry; you will have to guess what again. Let me not stress you, 4,583,616,838 is budgeted for the “Completion of Ongoing New Head Office Building Construction” which 7,912,502,911 was budgeted for in 2016, bringing the total to 12,496,119,749.

For those of you that numbers scare, that is over twelve billion Naira for the construction of the EFCC new head office. If the budget for the “Furnishing” of same building is taken into consideration, it becomes almost fourteen billion Naira. That is the anti-corruption model; build a fourteen billion Naira edifice to scare corrupt individuals and firms.

The Bureau of Public Procurement has budgeted 52,957,485 for “Defence Software” and I find myself wondering when they became the Ministry of Defence. But things change, just like this government wants us to believe. I wish them a happy defence.

In the course of going through the 2107 budget, I noticed a significant change. There no longer existed a column to show the state of a project. Previous budgets had the “New” and “Ongoing” tags designated to line items, and it made it easier to understand or rather follow the money. We might not know, but that little omission, which I believe was on purpose, has the ability to make corrupt practices invisible.

The 2017 budget is beginning to look more like a poo-storm, but that shouldn’t be a problem because as you saw from the beginning, they started by budgeting generously for it.

We have come to the end of the first part of my budget analysis; hopefully the second part will have something better to offer us.

•Suit designed to shame me, says monarch

An Osun State Magistrates’ Court yesterday issued a bench warrant of arrest against the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Adewale Abdul-Rasheed Akanbi.
At its last sitting on December 2, Chief Magistrate Olusola Aluko threatened to issue the bench warrant of arrest if Oba Akanbi failed to appear before him in compliance with the court order on November 25 in a case filed against him by the Oluwo of Iwo-Oke, Oba Kadiri Adeoye.
Oba Adeoye was in court but Oba Akanbi sent another monarch, Ologburo of Ogburo, Oba Asimiyu Sadiq, to represent him.
His absence drew the anger of Magistrate Aluko.

In his submission, Oba Adeoye’s counsel Soji Oyetayo urged the court not to entertain any of the applications filed by the respondent until he complies with the order of the court.
He said: “The first respondent (Oba Akanbi) filed an application of stay of proceeding yesterday afternoon. So, I am of the opinion that he is not ready to move any application today.
“The court made an order on November 25 and up till now the order has not been complied with. The application asking for a stay of proceeding cannot stay the order already made.
“The order of the court is meant to be obeyed. The non-appearance of the first respondent in this matter is a flagrant disobedient of the order of the court.”

Oba Akanbi’s counsel Olayide Yekeen said his client submitted the notice of preliminary objection, challenging the jurisdiction of the court to hear the case on November 15 and that by careful perusal of the State Magistrate Law, Section 19:1, the court cannot entertain the matter.
He said: “It is the threshold of all cases that whenever the issue of jurisdiction is raised, it is to be taken first.

On the issue of jurisdiction and the competence of the case, the respondent has the right to be heard first before any enquiry can be made in the matter.”
In his ruling, Magistrate Aluko stated that he agreed with the respondent’s counsel that the issue of jurisdiction must be treated first but said: “On the order of the court made on November 25, the order remains.

“I hereby issued a bench warrant against the first respondent while further proceeding on the matter is adjourned till December 27.”
Oba Adeoye had approached the Magistrate Court, accusing the Oluwo of concealing some facts about his past to the government when he was installed as a first class monarch about a year ago.

In a 33-paragraph affidavit, the Oluwo-Oke said Oba Akanbi’s character did not befit a person of his status and calibre as he was used to carrying thugs, miscreants and hoodlums around to harass, intimidate, molest and attack his perceived enemies.

He further alleged that the Oba Akanbi forged his name to obtain travelling documents to the United States where he was jailed in New York City and deported to Nigeria in 2000.

He added that Oba Akanbi later travelled out with his real name to Canada in 2001 and became a Canadian citizen but was also arrested in Toronto and was in jail between 2006 and 2007, saying these facts were concealed from the government.

He also accused him of presently making money through internet fraud and was using his palace as a cover-up.

But Oba Akanbi reacted to these allegations in a 13 paragraph affidavit through the Aremo of Iwo, Chief Adelani Akanbi, who described the application as “scandalous, vexations and designed to embarrass, blackmail and ridicule the monarch in the view of right thinking members of the society.”

What a life! Residents of Osogbo, the Osun State capital are now living in fear following the siege laid to some parts of the town by some gun wielding cultists, who are on a rampage.

The crisis which erupted last week Saturday claimed the life of a South Africa based man, Mr. Bode Ibidun, who returned to the town recently in preparation for his wedding on January 7, 2017.
Sources say the young man was killed by members of a cult group known as ‘Arise Boys’ which is based in Igbona area because one of the members was dating the lady, who he was planning to marry.

Bode, it was learnt, was killed inside the Toyota Camry which he newly bought. He was said to be driving along Sadiat area on Saturday when he was stopped by three members of the cult group who were riding on a motor cycle.

Various sources told Punch that, although Bode was killed by the cultists, he was not a cultist himself but had friends among another cult group known as ‘Onile,’

A source close to Bode's family said the deceased was buried on Sunday at a cemetery in Osogbo.

It was also learnt that while the burial rights were being conducted, members of the cult group that killed him stormed his mother’s house again and wanted to set it ablaze.

But the intervention of police was said to have prevented the hoodlums from carrying out the act.

One of the sources said, “This crisis is a cult war. But Bode, who was killed on Saturday was not a member of any cult group. He just came back from South Africa and his wedding is slated to hold on January 7.

“He was killed by a single bullet. They shot him at a close range when they accosted him. He was sitting at the back of his car behind the driver, but he was the only one killed by the group.”

A 41-year-old man, Alhaji Kasali Mumuni, has reportedly burn the stomachs of his two children - Maryam, 9, and Ojonla, 6 - with red hot knife in Owo, Ondo State capital over the allegation that they stole fish.

According to a shocking report by Sunday Vanguard, Kasali left home that fateful day for work only to return to discover that the only fish in the pot had been eaten without consideration for the bread winner of the house.

It was learnt that one of the children took half of the fish in the pot and, when their step- mother returned from where she sells herbs in one of the motor parks in Owo, she ate the remaining half.

When the father of the house came much later and his food was served without fish, hell was let loose. The step-mother, who allegedly was not comfortable with the continued stay of the two children in the house, was said to have heaped the blame on the kids, accusing them before their father that they stole the only fish reserved for him.

Kasali’s third wife, who, it was learnt, is yet to have a child for him, had allegedly been asking the husband to allow the two children to go and stay with their mother because their presence in the house was making her uncomfortable.

Narrating what she and her sibling went through, Maryam said it was actually true that Ojonla ate half of the piece of fish in the pot and that when their step-mother returned from her shop, she ate the other half.

According to her, when their father returned and was served rice without fish, he flared up and their step-mother told him that the two of them went into the pot behind her to steal the fish reserved for his dinner while she was away from the house.

Angered by what he was told, Maryam said that their father beat them mercilessly and later went into the kitchen to light the stove and put a knife on it.

“When the knife was hot and turned red, he pressed it on our stomachs one after the other. We cried and begged but our father refused to remove the knife,” the girl said.

“Our neighbors, who heard our cries, rushed to the scene only to be told by our father that they should mind their businesses.

“He held us down for several minutes as the knife was pressed on our stomachs”. She stated that the neighbors later informed officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) who rushed to the scene and rescued them.

“We were taken to the State Hospital, Akure by the officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps who later reported informed the Welfare Department of the state Ministry of Women Affairs”.

Let's start from the Very beginning:
Records show that the Secretary to the Government of the Federation of Nigeria, Engr. Babachir Lawal resigned his directorship from the Board of Rholavision Engineering Limited as at 28th of August 2015 NOT 2016 as claimed by the document in the possession of the Senate, which is also now in our possession. (Nigerians are everywhere) Ha Ha Ha!

The SGF went further to relinquish his share holdings in the same organisation and many others he had interests in. All in the same communication.

Records also show that following a resolution of the same board, he ceased to be a signatory to the Accounts of the limited Liability Company.

It's instructive to note that The company in question has been doing business for many years and one of the contracts it executed in the Lake Chad Basin was funded by African Development Bank.

It's also instructive to note that a company, a limited liability company does not fold up because one of its Directors decided to move on.

A limited Liability Company is a legal entity and consequently, after Engr. Lawal moved on to public service, the company continued business, or how else was it suppose to survive and pay its staff?

Having done some serious work in the region under the ADB-funded project a few years ago under the previous administration, the company has a range of experiences in what was needed not just to clear the Lake chad area covering over 400 kilometres of the stubborn invasive plant species that had hindered farming, irrigation, fishing, water transport, but the sinking of Boreholes in communities in the region.

The company rendered its Project Management Consultancy services which was basically, the supervision of the contractors to PINE. This ensured that the Contractors met their contractual terms and delivered according to expectations.

For their Services, Rholavision was paid the sum of ₦7million, NOT ₦200million. Again, this can be verified through bank records.

When in his statement on the issue, the Distinguished Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki stated that they set up a committee on the SGF. He went on to add, "The committee did their work. Nothing was CREATED or DOCTORED".

Why did he need to use the words, "CREATED" and "DOCTORED"?
Who stole the missing Rholavision file from CAC?
Who "CREATED" a non-existent document on a plain sheet of Paper instead of Engr. Lawal's private letter headed paper?
Who "DOCTORED" the original document that read 2015 and made it 2016?
How did a Director who died in January 2016 sign a document in August of 2016?

This is mostly about the refusal of the President Buhari Administration to allow them to squander the funds for the so called CONSTITUENCY Projects by insisting on supervising the projects to ensure they are done.

and for anyone who does not understand the meaning of "NONSENSE", it's not an insult or abuse. It's an English word that means:
1. It makes no meaning
2. It does not make sense.
3. No Substance
4. Meaningless.

One thing is certain, there are those elites who insist that the war on corruption will not succeed.

They include those who have continually shortchanged their communities by pocketing funds meant for CONSTITUENCY projects meant to develop the communities they represent.

Such people are used to having their ways as serial offenders, abusers of processes, and lords of impunity. They cannot stand those who stand in their way by not letting them get away with blue murder.

The reasons for the continued attacks and casting aspersions, lies and forgeries are very obvious. "Withdraw the charges against us and our friends in our mother party and there'll be peace". Well, it's your actions and not any individual that put you all in courts and tribunals.

No one can caste credible aspersions on the fight on corruption. Especially not those whose paths are tainted with alleged crimes against our nation.
The war on corruption will not succumb to blackmail. It's a war Nigerians elected President Buhari to wage and Nigerians will win.
