A huge python was found in Alagbole Odo bridge, Ogun state on Thursday, June 11, and subsequently killed.

The emergence of the python was caused by the heavy rain over the previous days.
The fierce-looking snake wassaid to have been killed by men in the bush around the area.
Meanwhile, residents in the area describe the snake as the biggest so far adding that several other snakes had been killed in their homes.
While the snake was pulled to the road side, scores of people gathered to have a glimpse of the scary creature.
Just a few weeks ago a huge snake stirred pandemonium in Opebi, Ikeja area of Lagos state.

Alhaji Aliko Dangote, the Chairman, Dangote Group of Companies, is to spend 250 million dollars on the production of rice and sugarcane around the Hadejia River Basin of Jigawa.
Gov. Muhammad Badaru of Jigawa said this when he received the Country Director of African Development Bank (AfDB) for Nigeria, Alhaji Usman Dore and his team who came to seek for partnership with the state in agricultural development in Dutse on Friday.
Badaru said the initiative by the Dangote Group
was in line with his priority on Transformation of Agriculture.
He said “the cardinal principles of my administration is agricultural transformation for human development that will make them to be self sustained.’’
He thanked the AfDB team for the visit and pledged to collaborate with the bank in the development of agriculture in the state.

Earlier, the Country Director of the bank for Nigeria said the team was in Jigawa to know the priorities of the governor and to seek for partnership with him in his areas of interests.
Dore said that the bank would spend N2 billion in farming activities in Hadejia River basin, while N43 million would be needed from Jigawa government for the project.

He explained that the money would be used to construct canals, road networks, building of markets, primary schools, training of agricultural extension workers, community health personals, provision of improved seeds, among others.
The country director said AfDB was in partnership with the Hadejia/Komadugu agricultural development initiative which comprises six states of Borno, Yobe, Jigawa, Kano, Bauchi and Plateau.

Men of the Plateau State Police Command have arrested a 40-year-old man, Surulere Raphael, for cutting off his daughter’s finger on allegation that she stole his money.

Mr Raphael was paraded on Friday at the police headquarters alongside one Ponjue Domsing, who was alleged to have killed his father, Mr. Domsing, for not buying him a motorcycle as promised.
Raphael said he cut off his daughter’s finger because she stole his N1,500and meat from her mother’s pot of soup. The girl’s severed finger has, however, been recovered as an exhibit, while the girl is being treated in the hospital.
The state Commissioner of Police, Nasiru Oki, said the suspects would be charged to court for culpable homicide and criminal conspiracy.
He said:


“The Plateau State Police Command, in its resolve to rid the state of crime and criminal activities, has arrested some murder suspects and other individuals for various offences ranging from criminal conspiracy to armed robbery and car snatching.
May 2, 2015, at Doruwa Vwang village in Shendam Local Government Area of the state, one Ponjue Domsing killed his father, Mr. Domsing, for refusing to buy a motorcycle for him as promised. The investigation has been completed and the suspect will soon appear in court when court resumes from strike.

Also on May 4, 2015, there was a report from Bukuru Division that one Christopher Vincent was stabbed to death by Mondam Pam and dumped his body by the roadside along Zawan Road. Detectives arrested the deceased’s girlfriend, Magdaline Fidelis, and upon interrogation, she confessed that the deceased was killed by Monday Pam over misunderstanding between them in her house.”

A Niger Delta militant group identified asUrhobo Gbagbako, has blown up theNPDC Oilpipelines at Ighrenene, Afiesere and Ekiugbo communities in Delta State. In an email sent to reporters claiming responsibility for the bombing which occurred yesterday April 2nd, the spokesperson of the group,Priest Omodjuvwu, said the group, which consist of ex-militants, men, women & children of Urhobo origin, decided to blow up the oil pipeline following the continued neglect of the Urhobo militantsin the pipelines protection contracts offered to ex-militants from other ethnic groups.

Spokesperson of the militant group, Mr Omdjuvwu saidthey decided to blow up the pipeline to draw government attention and demand to be included in the pipeline protection contracts.

A heartbroken father cradled the body of his six-year-old son who was buried alive while building sand castles on a construction site.
Chien Hao died after a lorry dumped its load of sand on top of him as he played with his eight year-old sister and a friend of hers.

According to Mail online, the two girls, who had just managed to get out of the way in time, raised the alarm and builders, firefighters and the boy's parents attempted to dig him out with their bare hands.

The youngsters had sneaked onto the building site which local police said had not been properly secured and were playing in a mound of sand when the tragedy happened in Xiamen city in Fujian province, southeast China..

The surviving children said they had not noticed the lorry reversing towards them with a fresh load of sand.

The parents of the dead boy are demanding police action against the building firm for not securing the site and against the driver of the lorry who failed to check with anybody was behind him when dumping his load.

Police spokesman Ho Hung said:
'We are carrying out an investigation following a complaint by the parents.The youngster was buried for an hour before he was recovered. It had to be done by hand to prevent injuring the boy with the shovels or any other digging instrument.

'Sadly after that much time crushed under the weight of the sand and unable to breathe he was dead. '

A member of New Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Lagos has been arrested over the weekend over the death of two brothers during a spiritual bath, the deceased identified as Abiodun and Ayinde Oniru, were alleged to have been taken to the church by their parents for spiritual cleansing.

Things reportedly took a tragic dimension, following report that Abiodun and Ayinde drowned during the spiritual bath. Police sources said on sighting the policemen, Saturday, some members of the church, including the Pastor, took to their heels.

Unfortunately for the church’s secretary, he was arrested and whisked into the police waiting van.

A 4-month-old baby fell off the mother’s back as they were travelling on the commercial motorcycle, Okada, and got crushed to death by a heavy truck.

According to Bagofgists the gruesome incident occurred at the Okorodafe Roundabout in Ughelli, Delta State.

An eyewitness of the tragedy said that the child’s mother, one Ese, had been trying to adjust the wrapper with which she strapped the baby to her back while the motorcycle was moving.

Another person, Efemena Okiemute, saw how the baby had suddenly fallen on the middle of the road and had been crushed by a truck, carrying crates of soft drinks.

It would be recalled that Okada is considered a dangerous means of transport by the authorities.

Therefore it was banned in many areas of the country. Indications have recently emerged that the transport might be banned nationwide.

Regarding Delta, earlier this year the state government reportedly burnt more than 200 motorcycles confiscated from those who ignored the restriction on Okada riding in some parts of the state.

A 28-year-old man, Joseph Agwugho has been accused of stabbing one Enya Okpara to death, with a scissors.

According to report, the duo had an argument over the ownership of a face cap and in anger, the suspect took a nearby scissors which he used in stabbing the deceased on the neck three times.

Enya was rushed to the general hospital at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) where he was confirmed dead upon arrival

Joseph who is facing a murder charge appeared today, December 17, before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
Presiding over the case, the Magistrate, Mr Y.J. Adefioye ordered that the accused be remanded at the Ikoyi Prisons, for a period of 30 days, pending advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

1. Postman:Just a while ago, post offices used to be overcrowded. Today, more and more people prefer to use social media and e-mail services to send their messages and communicate.


2. Cashier:Just a handful of electronic terminals can replace most human-operated services in, for instance, banks. Only the need of human interaction and constant explanation are holding us back.


3. Engineering:The Nigerian government now prefers to grant engineering contracts to foreigners. Most of them are from Korea or China. Those Nigerians who studied engineering might soon find it difficult to find a job.


4. Paper newspapers:Less and less people buy printed newspapers now. For the most part, theses people are elderly persons who are not internet-literate, while the youths prefer to surf the web.


5. Watch repairing:A lot of people have stopped using wristwatches. Instead, they prefer to check the time on their mobile phones. Thus, the business of watch repair gradually becomes unpopular.


6. Call centers:Many Nigerians today have at least one mobile phone, and some network providers offer cheaper services. There is no need to employ services of a call center to make a call.


7. Cyber café:The situation is similar to the one with call canters. More and more Nigerians own PCs, laptops, and printers – why paying extra money?
