Have you ever wondered why you study hard but still score low in exams? In fact, sometimes you teach others and they turn out to perform better than you. If you are in the situation I just described, then you are not alone. As a matter of fact, I passed through such challenge for a very long time. The good news is that I was able to overcome. It is not fun to study for long hours during the day and continue at nightwithout evidence to show for it. Sometimes you ask yourself the question, what is wrong with me? The truth of the matter is that, there is no cause without effect. There are so many reasons why you study hard but still score low in exams. I will try to analyze the possible factors responsible for your poor performance in exams and what you should do to get freedom. It is not fun to study for long hours during the day and continue at nightwithout evidence to show for it. Sometimes you ask yourself the question, what is wrong with me? Top 10 Reasons Why You Study Hard But Still Score Low In Exams 1. You Didn’t Really Understand What You Read It is one thing to know what you are reading while it is another thing to understand what you have read. Knowing that you are reading concord under the Use of English doesn’t mean that you fully understand what Concord is all about. When you study, ensure you get the full idea passed in the topic and are able to reproduce it. Nothing fights understanding like cramming. Cramming simply means accepting what you have read the way it is with the aim of pouring it out exactly that way. When you study, ensure you get the full idea passed in the topic and are able to reproduce it. Cramming is like chain reaction. Forgetting one thing you crammed can make you forget every other thing. This will eventually make you score low in the exam. Another danger in cramming is that any little twist in question will leave you 100% confused. After all, you didn’t research to know the different ways questions can come under the topic. Instead of cramming, try as much as possible to understand what you have read. There are so many persons who will be willing to make you understand. Don’t cram! See Also: How to read and understand on your own. 2. You Don’t Practice Never get to a point where you feel that you know it all. No matter the difficult things you feel you know, there are little things you still don’t know. These little things can sponsor your downfall in exams. In my number one point above, I explained the danger of cramming and why you should seek to understand what you have read. However, the fact that you understood the topic at a point doesn’t mean that it will stick to your brain forever. Make it a habit to go over what you have read once in a while. The more you practice, the more knowledge you are exposed to. One reason why so many candidates find it difficult to recall what they read in the exam hall is that they never revised. Keep your brain refreshed before the exam so that you can have fresh content in the exam. Solve as many problems as possible especially when it is a calculation subject. After some time, go through the questions you have attempted again to see whether you can still solve them. This act will make the topic stick to your brain and you won’t have to struggle in the exam hall. For non-calculation topics, active reading helps. Pick a paper and pen, try to put down what you can still recall from the topic. Summarize the topic in your own words and write down the key points. In conclusion, understanding without constant practice can make you score low in exams even when you study hard. Practice makes perfect! Keep learning. 12 Stupid Mistakes Uniben Students Make In Their First Year Many Uniben students after gaining admission proceed to make certain stupid mistakes. Some of these silly mistakes are as a result of what they think was wise to do. These mistakes actually go a long way to affect them physically, psychologically, academically and even emotionally. As a result, most of them end the session with GP less than 3.0 on a scale of 5.0. After three years of experience in the great University of Benin, I have been able to make analysis of the stupid mistakes made by 100 Level students. The mistakes discussed below are not exclusive to 100 level students. However, it has greater effects on them. In addition, it is applicable to UNILAG, UNIPORT, LASU, UI, ABSU, AAU, BUK, DELSU, FUTA, UNN, LU and other Nigerian university students. MISTAKES MADE BY UNIBEN STUDENTS IN THEIR YEAR ONE 1. NO PROPER GUIDE Many Uniben students in their first year live as if they were the first persons to get admitted. Immediately they see their names in the admission list, they feel that is all. They do not ask questions about the school, their department or course of study. They also fail to realize that it is what they have in their head that takes them ahead in school. Uniben is not called UNISTRESS for nothing. Many Uniben students are facing challenges in 200L as a result of what they didn’t know in 100L. For you not to experience the challenges your senior students are facing, you must know what they didn’t know. You need to be properly guided on: Resumption date Clearance date The required documents Updates on course registration Uniben school Fees payment deadline How Uniben students should Jark How exam questions are set The university marking scheme Tips to avoid missing scripts or Absent cases Understanding Unistress 2. SAYING YES TO DISTRACTIONS I can tell you that distraction is one of the main things advertised in Uniben. The distractions come in different dimensions. This makes it more difficult to identify. In Uniben, distractions come in form of: Social activities Pretty girls and handsome boys Parasitic relationship Campus fellowship Prioritize your time so as to accomplish the tasks that produce the best result for your academics. You cannot stop distractions from coming your way. However, you can choose not to be distracted. Read More: https://allskulnews..com.ng/2017/09/12-stupid-mistakes-uniben-students-make.html |

Do you know that memorising or cramming effectively a night before your exam can dramatically improve your academic performance? It does the magic and that’s exactly what I will teach you in this article –How To Cram. If I had understood the concept of cramming, I would have been able to read everything two nights to the exam and still outperform those who started reading earlier. What Cramming All About? In education, cramming is the practice of working intensively to absorb large volumes of informational material in short amounts of time. Since your grade in school is proportional to the volume of materials you consume, then the only way to learn a lot when the exams are already close is to cram and pour it out.he difference between cramming and reading to understand is that you may not understand when you are cramming, however, you can understand what you crammed with time. Cramming and memorising work hand in hand but you tend to easily forget what you cram. Cramming is a function of time….. That’s why it is best done when your exams are already close. In summary, when your friend reads a night before the exam and still score higher than you who have been studying, then it is called CRAMMING. Reasons Why You Should Cram? Read More Here: https://allskulnews..com.ng/2017/10/how-to-memorise-or-cram-everything.html |

If you aren’t an English native speaker, you’ll almost always be required to sit an English language proficiency test as part of your application to study abroad at an English-speaking university. The two most accepted English language tests worldwide are the International English Language Test System (IELTS) and Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) tests. Whilst both accurately test your level of English and are widely accepted across over thousands of institutions worldwide, the two tests are different in their approach, structure and teaching criteria, so you should think carefully about which one you’ll choose to sit. Read our guide to the differences between IELTS and TOEFL to help you decide which is best for you. What is IELTS? The IELTS is an English language test that is used for educational, immigration and occupational purposes, and is accepted by over 9,000 institutions across 130 countries worldwide. Jointly administered by the British Council, University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations and IDP Education Australia, IELTS uses British English, and is more likely to be favoured by UK and institutions in Commonwealth nations such as New Zealand and Australia. Depending on the entry requirements of your study programme, you might need to take either the Academic or General Training IELTS exam.

It can be easy to simply ask about the scholarshipopportunities a university offers. However, institutions receive hundreds of such enquiries, so your message won’t stand out. The more unique or personalized your question or enquiry, the more likely it will resonate with the university staff member who reads it; it will be something different from what they see normally. There are a lot of other things you should be asking. Just think of everything which you would want to know about a university you might be studying at (especially one in a completely different country from your own). So what should you ask? ‘Where can I live?’ Do you know what accommodation the institution offers? Is this accommodation on or off-campus? How expensive is this accommodation and what’s included? Are you guaranteed a place in on-campus accommodation in your first year? What support is there to find accommodation off-campus? ‘What’s the international student body like?’ What proportion of students currently enrolled are from overseas? What countries do these students come from? Are there many students from your own country? If so, are there any specific clubs or societies which are tailored to students from here? |
