Answer: UNILAG Distance Learning Institute (DLI), is a Faculty in the great university of choice, the distance learning programme was designed for young sharps and mature minds, the programme is very flexible for working class with busy schedules. Lectures hold Saturdays from morning till evening, with a minimum lectures in three Saturdays in a month. The examination’s comes up once in every year, November for year 400 level – 600 level and December 100 level – 300 level students (all things being equal) and the examination span for two weeks. 6. Question: Please what are the basic requirements for DLI UNILAG?

Answer:
1. Original Testimonial (Primary/Secondary)

2. Birth certificate/sworn affidavit that pre dates the
admission advertisement

3. Original O`level Certificate and any other qualifications

4. Marriage certificates and news paper classification that pre dates the admission advertisement (Married female only)

5. Applicants for Distance Learning Institute programme shall not be less than 16 years of age.

7. Question: what is the O’level requirements and do they accept two sittings?

Answer: Five (5) credits in O’level either NECO, WAEC, GCE or any equivalents can enroll for this programme, two sittings is also considered.

8. Question: Can I use my OND certificate to apply for direct entry in DLI?

Answer: Holders of OND with at least Upper Credit will be eligible for admissions at enhanced entry level to start from 200 level, which must be institutions of learning, known to the senate with a minimum of upper credit can apply to start from 200 level.

9. Question: Can I use my HND certificate to apply for direct entry in DLI?

Answer: Holders of HND with at least Upper Credit will be eligible for admissions at enhanced entry level to start from 300 level, which must be institutions of learning, known to the senate with a minimum of upper credit can apply to start from 300 level.

10. Question: How much is UNILAG DLI school fee?

Answer: DLI school fee is not fixed most especially for new entrant, but the fee ranges from #130,000 – #140,000.

11. Question: Is installment payments allowed in UNILAG DLI?

Answer: As far as I know, NO! Installment payment is not allowed for year one, but we are hoping for the best.

12. Question: How sure is DLI Admission?

Answer: Very sure like heaven, mostly in favour of early bird registrations. First come first serve basis.

13. Question: Is UNILAG DLI graduate permitted to serve I.e go for NYSC?

Answer: No, The only thing they give for now is exemption letter from NYSC.

14. Is the DLI Certificate going to carry DLI on it or only UNILAG?

This is to inform the general public that the University of Lagos Post-Utme form for 2018/2019 Academic Session commences today. The online registration for the Post-UTME Screening Exercise for Admission into ALL COURSES/PROGRAMMES for the 2018/2019 Academic Year starts today 23rd July, 2018 to 3rd August, 2018.


ELIGIBLE CANDIDATES:

Candidates who made University of Lagos their first choice in the 2018/2019 UTME and scored 200 and above are eligible for screening. In addition, candidates must possess five (5) credit passes at one sitting in relevant O/level subjects including English Language and Mathematics.

Candidates, who will not be sixteen (16) years of age by 31st October, 2018 are not eligible and need not apply.

Candidates who do not participate in the Post-UTME Screening will not be considered for admission.

SCREENING FEE: N2,000

Post-UTME aptitude test will hold from Monday, 6th August, 2018 to Friday, 10th August, 2018.

All candidates are advised to click on Pre-Admission Screening Instructions and carefully read the Registration Instructions before proceeding.

Ensure that you have valid and active email address and phone number.
On the Admission Menu displayed on the left-hand side, click Pre-Admission Screening Registration.
Fill in the require details as required for the displayed fields.

Note: Actual Registration fee for each candidate is N2,000 (Excluding bank charges)

Thereafter:

Candidates should click on the Get Detailsbutton for your JAMB information; and Click on Make Payment link to go to Remita platfom. Note: UTME Candidates who are qualified for the courses originally chosen can proceed to make payment by supplying the required information. However, UTME Candidates who are not qualified for the course originally chosen are advised to change their course as indicated on the payment page.

Upon successful payment, Pre-Admission Sceening Login
Click on Continue Registration Link on the left hand side.
Fill in your other bio-data and necessary details truthfully on the webpage. All candidates should upload their Passports Photograph by clicking on Browse button and select your picture. Your Passport Photograph must not be more than 25KB.

PASSPORT PHOTOGRAPH SPECIFICATION

Acceptable format is JPEG.
Picture must be digital passport photograph.
Resolution must be at least 200 DPI.
Dimension should not be less than 600 × 600 pixels.
Each photograph should capture the head and top of the shoulders so that the face takes up to 70-80% of the photograph.
Show the eyes looking directly at the camera.
Show skin tone naturally.
Have a uniform red background.
Maximum of 25KB..
On completion of bio-data. click on Next Step button then click OK on the message dialog box.
For Direct Entry (DE) candidates;
Direct Entry candidates are required to select their Highest Academic Qualification(s) from the drop down and click on Save. On the dialog box click OK;
To add more Higher Academic Qualifications click on qualifications drop down to select your additional qualifications, click on save; and
Click on Next Step.
All candidates (UTME and DE) are required to supply their O' level (O/L) details as follows:

Enter all the required O' level (O/L) details; Pick as applicable in your result; and

Falsification of result will lead to automatic disqualification at any stage.
Click Scheduling Tab. All candidates must select a screening centre from the drop-down menu. Note that an alert will be immediately sent to your e-mail provided in your bio-data.
Click Print Tab to print out the following:

Scheduling Slip; and
Payment Receipt.

Applicants must have relevant professional experience, plus any ONE of the following three qualifications:

(a)    WASSCE/SSCE/GCE/NECO (O’ Level) or its equivalent with credits in five subjects including English Language and Mathematics and at least two other science subjects; at not more than two(2) sittings from the following:

(i)     B.Sc. Education Biology

Biology, Chemistry and one other Science subject of Physics or Agricultural Science.

(ii)    B.Sc. Education Chemistry

Chemistry and any two of Physics, Biology, Agricultural Science or any other Science subject.

(iii)    B.Sc.  Education Mathematics

Mathematics and Physics and one other Science subjects of Chemistry, Biology, Agricultural Science or any other Science subject including at least a pass in Further Mathematics.

(iv) B.Sc. Education Physics

Programme Requirement: The basic requirement for any candidate is just five credits in O’level subjects, in his or her chosen field in not more than one sitting. Awaiting results is also allowed, he or she must be up to 16 years old and one coloured passport photograph with white background.

Tuition Fee & Mode of Payments: The tuition fee for the entire programme is N385,000 – N400,000, little wonder,  Installment payments are allowed in not more than two times.

Entrance Examination: Most graduates of UNILAG Diploma/JUPEB/Foundation Programme are always known to be outstanding throughout their undergraduate years. The Programme is a full time Programme which enables student to receive lectures during the day period. After purchase of application form, there will be a mandatory Computer Based Test (CBT) Entrance Examination for all candidates which they need to pass to earn themselves the accolade of admission letter. Exam is slated for 13th – 17th August, 2018.

Entrance Exam Requirements: You are expected to print two copies of the online application print out, stamp them at your faculty, submit a copy of the form at the faculty coordinator’s office and come along with the other copy for the entrance examination

WAEC RELEASES 2018 MAY/JUNE WASSCE RESULT, SAYS THERE’S DECLINE IN PASS RATE - 09082964145


The West African Examinations Council said on Wednesday that only 49.98 per cent of candidates who wrote its 2018 school certificate examination obtained credit passes and above.

The council’s Head of National Office, Mr. Olu Adenipekun, said the credit passes included English Language and Mathematics.

Adenipekun gave this information at a news conference to announce the 2018 West African Senior School Certificate Examination in Lagos.

According to him, the performance of candidates for its examinations in the last three years has been fluctuating in view of the outcome of the just released 2018 examination.

The HNO, who gave a breakdown of the statistics candidates’ performance in the examination, said that a total of 1,578,846 registered for the examination in Nigeria.

According to him, out of the number, 1,572,396 of them sat for the examination.

Adenipekun said a total of 786,016 candidates, representing 49.98 per cent who sat for the examination, obtained credits and above in a minimum of five subjects including English Language and Mathematics.

He said the performance, when compared to what obtained in the same examination in 2016 and 2017, showed a decline.

“If we should compare the performance of candidates for this year’s examination under this category with that of 2016, which was 52.97 and in 2017; 59.22, we are safe to say it is fluctuating, just as it is declining.

“These statistics are clear for you to see and make your judgment,” he said. Adenipekun added that of the total number of candidates, who wrote the examination, 1,470,338 of them had their results fully processed and released.

He noted that a total of 102,058 other candidates had a few of their subjects still being processed, due to errors traceable to the candidates in the course of registration or while writing the examination.

The HNO assured that such errors were being corrected by the council to enable the affected candidates get their results fully processed and released subsequently.

He also said that a total of 1,213,244 candidates obtained credits and above in a minimum of any five subjects, with or without English Language and or Mathematics.

The WAEC official added that 858,424 other candidates obtained credits and above in a minimum of five subjects, including English Language but without Mathematics.

Further, Adenipekun acknowledged that there were cases of malpractice but it was minimal.

“For cases that are established as in other previous examinations, the council is already looking at them,” he said.

He added that this year’s examination witnessed the participation of a total of 1,328 candidates with varying degrees of special needs.

According to him, out of the number, 251 candidates are visually challenged, 783 with impaired hearing; 123 others have low vision while 88 others are spastic cum mentally challenged.

He added that 83 of them were physically challenged.

The HNO said that the candidates, who have fulfilled their financial obligations to the council were free to check the details if their performance on the council’s result website.

No fewer than 1.5 million candidates across Nigeria sat for the exam which held between March and early May.

1. Enter your 10-digit WAEC Examination Number. (This is your 7-Digit centre number followed by your 3-digit candidate number eg. 4123456789)

2. Enter the 4 digits of your Examination Year eg. 2018.

3. Select the Type of Examination e.g May/June.

4. Enter the Card Serial Number found on the reverse side of your Scratch card.

5. Enter the Personal Identification Number (PIN) on your Scratch card.

Click Submit and wait for the results window to come up.

TYPES OF UNILAG SPGS MASTER’S DEGREE

(a) Academic Master’s

The master of arts (M.A.) and master of science (M.S.) degrees are usually awarded in the traditional arts, sciences, and humanities disciplines. The M.S. is also awarded in technical fields such as engineering and agriculture. Original research, research methodology, and field investigation are emphasized. These programs usually require the completion of between 30 and 60 credit hours and could reasonably be completed in one or two academic years of full-time study. They may lead directly to the doctoral level.

Many master’s programs offer a thesis and a non-thesis option. The degree is the same in both cases, but the academic requirements are slightly different. Students in non-thesis programs usually take more coursework in place of researching and writing a thesis, and they take a written comprehensive examination after all coursework is completed. Students in degree programs that include a thesis component generally take a comprehensive examination that is an oral exam covering both coursework and their thesis.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS/ ELIGIBILITY FOR POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMAS/MASTERS BY COURSEWORK

An applicant for admission to a programme shall be:

1. Must possess a Bachelors’s degree of this University or any approved University;

2. A person who holds other qualification(s) recognized by senate of the University of Lagos;

3. In addition to (i) and (ii) above, an applicant may be required, as a condition for admission, to undergo a selection process in the form of written and/or oral examinations.

GENERAL NOTICE
1. (i) Candidates who have not completed the National Youth Service Corps programme or currently undergoing a Postgraduate programme need not apply. Such applicants will be automatically disqualified.

2. Candidates awaiting Bachelor’s degree results need not apply.

(b) Professional Master’s

These degree programs are designed to lead the student from the first degree to a particular profession. Professional master’s degrees are most often “terminal” master’s programs, meaning that they do not lead to doctoral programs. Such master’s degrees are often designated by specific descriptive titles, such as master of business administration (M.B.A.), master of social work (M.S.W.), master of education (M.Ed.), or master of fine arts (M.F.A.). Other subjects of professional master’s programs include journalism, international relations, architecture, and urban planning. Professional master’s degrees are oriented more toward direct application of knowledge than toward original research. They are more structured than academic degree programs, and often require that every student take a similar or identical program of study that lasts from one to three years, depending on the institution and the field of study.

Professional degree programs usually require completion of between 36 and 48 units (one to two years of full-time study), and usually do not offer a thesis option. They do not always require that the bachelor’s degree be in a specific field, but they may recommend a certain amount of prior study or coursework in the subject area.

DISTINCTION BETWEEN A PROFESSIONAL MASTERS AND ACADEMIC MASTERS PROGRAMME.

Professional Masters is a terminal degree while Academic Masters is a step towards a Ph.D. It depends on what you want to do afterwards. If you intend to leave the academic environment or the four wall of the classroom completely, to work in another sector or industry then go for Professional Masters. If you intend to continue in the university/academic environment lecturing, doing research and things like that then go for Academic Masters.

One major difference between the two is that to run the professional masters you do not need a very high B.Sc grade, while the Academic Masters requires good grade to be able to qualify for your preferred programme.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS/ ELIGIBILITY FOR M.PHIL/PH.D PROGRAMME
Masters of Philosophy (M.Phil)
To qualify for admission to the above programme:

(i) Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s honours degree from this University or any other approved University with at least a Second Class (Upper Division).

(ii) Candidates with a Master’s degree with a minimum of CGPA of at least 3.50.

(iii) All candidates to the M.Phil. programmes must contact the respective department for availability of supervisors before applying.

(iv) The candidate may be required to undergo a selection process as determined by the respective department.

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D)

(i) A candidate who has obtained the degree of Master of Philosophy must have a minimum CGPA of 4.0.

(ii) A candidate who has obtained the degree of Masters of Science must have a minimum CGPA of 4.0.

(iii) Candidates must clear with the respective Departments as to the availability of vacancies/supervisors before applying.

(iv) All candidates may be required to undergo a selection process as may be determined by the department.

For M. Phil and Ph.D. programmes only, admission shall be processed at the beginning of each semester.

ALL CANDIDATES FOR M. Phil./Ph.D. ADMISSIONS ARE TO PROVIDE TRANSCRIPTS OF THEIR MASTERS’ DEGREES OR FORMAL EVIDENCE OF PERFORMANCE AT MASTER’S LEVEL.

• Candidates are advised to read carefully the requirements for their desired programmes to confirm eligibility.
• Candidates awaiting Bachelor’s degree results and Nigerian citizens who have not completed the National Youth Service Corps assignments or are currently undergoing Postgraduate programmes are not eligible.
• Holders of Degrees obtained from Outreach/Satellite campuses are not eligible.
• Every applicant is required to upload all certificates listed in the application form, such as:
– Degree Certificates (Not Statement of Results)

We are so pleased to inform you that The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has disclosed dates for the 2018 Post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) tests.

The JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede disclosed this at the Policy Meeting held at Gbongan, Osun State.

In attendance were all vice chancellors of universities, rectors of polytechnics and provosts of colleges of education.

At the meeting, Oloyede said, “The leaders of the institutions agreed that the First Choice Admission Exercise would be conducted from July 2, 2018 to October 16, 2018; while the Second Choice Admission Exercise would be conducted from October 17, 2018, to December 17, 2018.”

DAILY POST reported that not less than 414,696 candidates out of the 1,603,181, who sat for the 2018 UTME, scored above 200.

According to Oloyode, 558,673 candidates scored above 190; 739,490 above 180 and 956,937 above 170 marks.

He said the scores released by JAMB were not the cut-off marks, adding that they were the minimum marks required.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government has warned that it would sanction any tertiary institution which charges more than N2,000 for Post-UTME.

Part Time is 4 Semesters and the School Fees for the first year is within the neighbourhood of N150,000 and Acceptance is N61,5000. Then in following year, the part time will pay another N150,000 (depends on department). Some department pay lesser or more. Note: This is just an hint to prepare you ahead. Installments payment is allowed for the part time students. That is the good thing about the part time students.

Unilag Masters Full Time Students School Fees
Full time student only pay for one session which is two semesters. The Full time school Fees is N75,000 and Acceptance Fee is N61,500. It is subject to change based on Department. Some departments pay lesser or more.

LASPOTECH OND/HND PART-TIME – REQUIREMENTS.
A. Ordinary National Diploma (OND) Programmes

SSCE or WASCE or GCE ‘O’ Level or NECO or NABTEB with at least 5 Credits obtained at not more than 2 sittings, which must include English Language, Mathematics and three other relevant subjects related to the programme of study.

B. Higher National Diploma (HND) Programmes

1. Candidates are required to satisfy SSCE/GCE/NECO/NABTEB entry requirements for the corresponding National Diploma programme.

2. Candidates are required to have completed a relevant National Diploma Programme not below LOWER CREDIT classification.

3. Candidates are required to have at least one year post- ND industrial work experience.

Mature Candidates:

Candidates with lower qualifications than the ones stated above but with at least three (3) relevant Credits and two (2) Passes could be considered for admission, provided such candidates are not below the age of 40 years and have a minimum of 15 years work experience at a SUPERVISORY LEVEL

UNILAG CANCELS DIPLOMA/JUPEB/FOUNDATION THUMB-PRINT PROCESS OF REGISTRATION

It is a great pleasure to inform the populace that the University of Lagos, School of Foundation Studies have canceled the thumb print process of registration. The thumb print was the last stage of the Diploma/JUPEB/Foundation application that normally takes place at the university CITS before the cancellation news today. The UNILAG Diploma/ JUPEB/ Foundation Programme is a better alternative to gain admission into full time undergraduate programme without going through the headache of writing Jamb, and it’s sibling Post-UTME. Little wonder, the programme is just one year which you can use the certificate to process admission into 200 level in any course of your choice in UNILAG and other schools including selected universities abroad.



Mode of Application & Form Fee: Online Application (Kindly call: 09082964145 for assistance). The UNILAG Diploma/JUPEB Foundation or Pre-degree 2018/2019 Academic session form is N25, 000.

Programme Requirement: The basic requirement for any candidate is just five credits in O’level subjects, in his or her chosen field in not more than one sitting. Awaiting results is also allowed, he or she must be up to 16 years old and one coloured passport photograph with white background.

Tuition Fee & Mode of Payments: The tuition fee for the entire programme is N407, 000 – N410, 000, little wonder, Instalment payments are allowed in not more than two times.

Entrance Examination: Most graduates of UNILAG Diploma/JUPEB/Foundation Programme are always known to be outstanding throughout their undergraduate years. The Programme is a full time Programme which enables student to receive lectures during the day period. After purchase of application form, there will be a mandatory Computer Based Test (CBT) Entrance Examination for all candidates which they need to pass to earn themselves the accolade of admission letter.
