JAMB CHANGE OF COURSE/INSTITUTION FORM REGISTRATION IS ON The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) have enabled the portal for JAMB 2018 Change of Course/Institution Form. This process is to enable candidates’ effect the needed changes in their earlier selected course and/or institution. WHY CANDIDATES APPLY FOR JAMB CHANGE OF COURSE/INSTITUTION? There are obviously three good reasons why a candidate may need to change his/her jamb choice of course or institution or both: LOW JAMB SCORE: After the release of Jamb results, the next thing to face is admission screening exercise and admissions. Now take for instance that someone applied for a federal university of technology, Minna who will probably fix a cut-off mark of 200 and above; if such candidate scored less than 200, it simply means he/she has lost the admission. In this case the change of institution to a state-owned/private University becomes necessary. State universities generally fix cut-off marks below 200. INCOMPLETE O”LEVEL RESULT: In this case candidates who may have ran into deficiency of required credit passes in some key/relevant subjects may decide to go for change of course to accommodate themselves. MISTAKES DURING REGISTRATION: Was there a mistake while filling your registration by either you or the business/cyber cafe? With this help, you can now correct any errors made during registration of your course or institution. OTHER CHALLENGE: These includes several factors ranging from finance, change in Geographical locations, Parent’s suggestions, Fear of Tribal differences, etc. Such cases treated under this heading result to change of institution. For change of course/institution registration kindly contact 09082964145 or 08158942445. N/B: Change of course and institution can only be done once and you can only change to a course relating to your UTME Subject combination. To know if the course you want to change to aligns with your UTME subject combination. The platform for correction UTME subjects combination is currently available don't do it yourself to avoid mistake. Note: For JAMB correction of data kindly call our seasoned customer care representative on 09082964145, whatsapp: 08158942445 or write to us via email to talk2exquisitebusiness@gmail.com and for updates on JAMBJAM please follow our site by subscribing to our newsletter on www.exquisitebusinessempire. for first hand information on the go. 2018 UNILAG CONVOCATION TO HOLD MAY 8TH – 11TH The postponed convocation ceremony of the University of Lagos will now take place from May 8 to May 11, the Registrar, Dr Taiwo Ipaye, has said. Ipaye made the disclosure on Sunday in Lagos. A week-long convocation ceremony for the 2016/2017 academic session was earlier scheduled to begin on Feb. 19 but postponed as a result of the strike by non-academic staff union workers. “The university management is happy to announce a new date for the convocation ceremony. “The schedule for the ceremony remains the same. The only additional thing is a reception for retired professors, directors and registrars; it will take place on the last day, Friday, May 11, after Jumat prayers,” she said. According to the registrar, Gov. Akinwumi Ambode of Lagos State will deliver the convocation lecture on May 8. “The lecture, with the theme: “Inclusion: The Path to a New Nation’’, previously scheduled for Feb. 19, would kick-start activities lined up for the ceremony,’’ she said. Ipaye said that an opening exhibition and the inauguration of the 12th Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, would, however, precede the lecture. According to her, the main convocation ceremony will be held in two sessions (morning and afternoon) each day from May 9 to May 11. The registrar said that award of first degrees, diplomas, certificates and the announcement of prize winners for graduating students of Faculties of Education and Social Sciences would take place on the morning of May 9. She said graduating students for the Faculties of Arts, Environmental Sciences and Sciences would be attended to in the afternoon of the same day. According to Ipaye, on May 10, the award of first degrees, diplomas, certificates and announcement of prize winners for graduating students of the Faculties of Engineering, Law and Management Sciences will hold in the morning. She said that graduating students of the Faculties of Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical Sciences, Dental Sciences, Pharmacy and the Distance Learning Institute would be awarded first degrees, diplomas and certificates in the afternoon of the same day. Ipaye said that the ceremony would end on May 11 with congregation for the award of higher degrees of the School of Postgraduate Studies. She said that on the same day, the Best Researcher Award and conferment of the Distinguished and Emeritus Professors would also hold. WAEC AMENDS TIME- 2018 TABLE BECAUSE OF FRIDAY JUMAT - 09082964145 The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has bowed to pressure and amended the part of its 2018 May/June Examination that clashed with the Friday Juma’at prayer. The affected subject is Chemistry 1 and 2, which was originally slated for 2pm to 5pm on Friday, April 20, 2018. The Director of Public Affairs, WAEC Nigeria, Mr Demianus Ojijeogu confirmed the slight amendment following reactions from Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC). “For the sake of the people who will go to the mosque, the exam will be delayed till they come back. “The paper will be delayed till 2:30 pm or 3 pm, when the Muslims will return from the mosque,” Mr Ojijeogu told Premium Times on Saturday “ According to him, WAEC has been fixing examinations during Jummat time for some years which is “illegal, unconstitutional and unlawful. He said: “The Council, being a responsible and responsive organisation, has made a slight adjustment on the timetable. “The papers originally slated for Friday, April 20, 2018 will now be taken on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at the same times as stated on the timetable; while those slated for Tuesday, April 10, 2018 will now be taken on Friday, April 20, 2018 at the same time as stated on the timetable.” Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE), candidates were to write Chemistry paper from 2pm to 5pm on Friday, April 20. The paper would have clashed with Muslim Friday prayers which usually hold between 1:30 pm to 3pm. Ishaq Akintola, president of MURIC, had said the timetable was an “injustice” against Muslims, whom he claimed had become “endangered species.” According to him, WAEC had fixed examinations during Jummat sessions for some years and Muslim leaders discussed with the council in 2016 and 2017. 2018 UTME: WHY JAMB IS WITHHOLDING RESULTS OF OVER 100,000 CANDIDATES - 09082964145 The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has given insight into why it is withholding the results of 111,981 candidates who participated in this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination. The spokesperson for the Board, Fabian Benjamin, told PREMIUM TIMES the results of the affected candidates were earmarked for further screening over suspicion they engaged in examination malpractices. “Some of the malpractices were centre-induced,” Mr. Benjamin said. “So entire centers were cancelled. Some are individual cases. There are centers that colluded with candidates. Maybe their owners collected monies from the candidates and were dictating answers. They were caught on camera. “There were candidates who went into the examination halls with materials that were banned. Telephone handsets and other materials were found on some of them. “There were even candidates who attempted to change the IP addresses of the computer systems assigned to them.” JAMB had installed CCTV cameras in all centers used for the examination, and proceedings at the centers were closely monitored from a control room at the board’s headquarters in Abuja. Mr. Benjamin said all cases of malpractices, including those caught on cameras, were being scrutinized and that JAMB would ensure that everyone who violated the rules of the examination were punished. Asked if the results of some of the affected candidates might eventually be released, the spokesperson said, “I can’t say. It depends on the outcomes of the investigations. We are being fair and diligent in the screening to ensure injustice is not done to anyone.” JAMB had on Sunday announced the release of results of 1,502,978 candidates after considering reports from its supervisors, monitors and other independent Nigerians who it said took interest in promoting the quality of public examination in Nigeria. A total of 1,652,825 candidates registered for the 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), with 350 of them being visually-challenged. WAEC TO BE 100% TECHNOLOGY DRIVEN IN 2018, SAYS HEAD NATIONAL OFFICE - 09082964145 The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) says it will sensitize and train its workforce on key areas of technology deployment in order to improve its operations in 2018. According to him, the council has organised series of retreats for both management staff and the workforce in preparatory to deploy technology in its operations. “We have worked hard in sensitising the workforce of the council and prepare their minds because it is one thing for one to strive to do something “But if the people who drives the system are not attuned psychologically, to doing that all such efforts will be fruitless. “So, we want to prepare our psyche on the need to sharpen our tools in preparation to move over to a 100 per cent technologically driven WAEC and of course we have done that and we are going full blast,’’ he said. The HNO noted that already, the council’s budget for 2018 had been fully designed to support the introduction of technology into the various aspects of its operation in Nigeria. He explained that the move would put WAEC at the level it was expected to be in the comity of examination bodies worldwide. “Members of staff of the council must be able to go beyond being a staff of the ICT Department. Even if one is a messenger, one should be able to ask how he can deploy technology to carry out his duties and this applies to all other operational components of council. “So, this is an era where we are looking at 2018 as a year where we will be deploying technology in all facets of our operations, not just in conducting examination, processing of results and printing of certificates but in all areas of our operations,’’ the HNO said. On the possibility of introducing Computer Based Test (CBT) platform for its examination, Adenipekun said that the CBT was not an examination mode that was limited to any particular examination body. According to him, WAEC also has a section called the Aptitude Test department that can equally use the CBT platform in conducting examination for candidates. He, however, said that the main point was that the mandate of WAEC makes it difficult to go the whole hug as it was different from that of other examination bodies like JAMB. “It will interest you to know that WAEC conducts achievement tests to ascertain the level of achievement of a candidate or student after attending secondary school for a six-year period. “So, if you want to test knowledge for English Language for instance, we do so without bringing about any complications. “We are aware of the operational environment. WAEC examination is not a selection test, it is an achievement test and so in doing that, we will have to deploy all facilities available to ensure that we help that particular candidate to prove himself or herself,’’ he said. The WAEC boss explained that if in a school, a candidate or student had not been exposed to the use of a computer in any form for the six years he had been attending school, it would be unfair to subject such candidate to the CBT platform in an examination. “So what we are then doing as an organisation and as part of our step forward is to come out and encourage state governors, school owners, communities, individuals and of course the generality of education stakeholders on the need to see how we can encourage secondary schools. “This, we should do starting from Junior Secondary 1, to see how students can deploy computers in writing their internal examination. “Once we are able to identify schools that are favourably disposed to this and we are convinced that they can meet our terms, we will start looking in the direction of introducing them to some aspects of our examinations which is the objective questions, which can be done on the CBT platform to start with. “We have some papers that have three components and others two. Those with two components, objective and essay and for schools that are ready for CBT, we should be able within the next two years to encourage them to present their candidates,’’ Adenipekun said.
