1. Question: Please tell me about UNILAG DLI?

Answer: UNILAG Distance Learning Institute (DLI), is a Faculty in the great university of choice, the distance learning programme was designed for young sharps and mature minds, the programme is very flexible for working class with busy schedules. Lectures hold Saturdays from morning till evening, with a minimum lectures in three Saturdays in a month. The examination’s comes up once in every year, November for year 400 level – 600 level and December 100 level – 300 level students (all things being equal) and the examination span for two weeks. Little wonder, your school fee covers hostel accommodation during examinations to ease studying, access first hand and timely information during Examination.

2. Question: Can I obtain the DLI form now?

6. Question: Please what are the basic requirements for DLI UNILAG?

Answer:
1. Original Testimonial (Primary/Secondary)

2. Birth certificate/sworn affidavit that pre dates the
admission advertisement i.e if you are using your sworn affidavit to apply this year the date on it must carry last year date e.g November 2018

3. Original O`level Certificate and any other qualifications

4. OND and HND Certificate ( For Direct Entry to Year 2 and 3 respectively)

5. Marriage certificates and newspaper publication that pre dates the admission advertisement (Married female only)

6. Applicants for Distance Learning Institute programme shall not be less than 16 years of age.

7. Question: what is the O’level requirements and do they accept two sittings?

Answer: Five (5) credits in O’level either NECO, WAEC, GCE or any equivalents can enroll for this programme, two sittings is also considered.

8. Question: Can I use my OND certificate to apply for direct entry in DLI?

Answer: Holders of OND with at least lower Credit will be eligible for admissions at enhanced entry level to start from 200 level, which must be institutions of learning, known to the senate with a minimum of upper credit can apply to start from 200 level.

9. Question: Can I use my HND certificate to apply for direct entry in DLI?

Answer: Holders of HND with at least lower Credit will be eligible for admissions at enhanced entry level to start from 300 level, which must be institutions of learning, known to the senate with a minimum of upper credit can apply to start from 300 level.

10. Question: How much is UNILAG DLI school fee?

Answer: DLI school fee is not fixed most especially for new entrant, but the fee ranges from #130,000 – #140,000.

11. Question: Is installment payments allowed in UNILAG DLI?

Answer: As far as I know, NO! Installment payment is not allowed for year one, but we are hoping for the best.

12. Question: How sure is DLI Admission?

Answer: Very sure like heaven, if only you apply on time and your application is well and accurately filled.

13. Question: Is UNILAG DLI graduate permitted to serve I.e go for NYSC?

Answer: No, The only thing they give for now is exclusion letter from NYSC.

14. Is the DLI Certificate going to carry DLI on it or only UNILAG?

Answer: We are from the Faculty of Distance Learning Institute. So the certificate will read University of Lagos, faculty of Distance Learning Institute.

15. When exactly do UNILAG DLI resume for new academic year?

Answer: DLI resumes in the month of May, but due to ASUU strike that affected Academic calender, which caused an extension in the resumption date. The resumption date is now June 8th, 2019 for returning students (Year 2 - 6).

16. Question: How Important is The Jamb Registration?

Answer: The Jamb registration thing is a new development in Nigeria Educational sector, which is mandatory for all part time and distance learning applicant to enrol for the Jamb registration so as to get the Jamb Registration Number without writing or sitting for Jamb Examination. All Candidates for the supplementary entrance examination of School of Foundation Studies are hereby informed that the entrance examination has been postponed to Friday 5th October, 2018 due to the ongoing NLC strike.

NOTE: All Candidates are advised to reprint their examination pass and take note of their new schedules.

Highly successful candidates after an approved examination administered by the Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board (JUPEB), are eligible for consideration for Direct Entry admission into the 200 Level of the Degree Programmes of the University through JAMB (Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board), or admission into the University of Bedfordshire, University of Central Lancashire, University of the West of England, De Montfort University, Leicester, University of Birmingham, UK and Soochow University, China. Please note that the programme does not currently have facilities for the visually impaired and is strictly a non-residential programme.

The School of Foundation Studies will provide an intensive one-year programme, teaching subjects in line with JUPEB Syllabus for admission according to the following subject combinations and their respective SFS codes:

A minimum of FIVE credits (English Language, Mathematics and three relevant subjects) obtained in one sitting at the SSCE/WASSC, GCE/O/L, NECO with results obtained before registration. 

PROCEDURE FOR COMPLETING SCHOOL OF FOUNDATION STUDIES e-APPLICATION FORM:

on the ‘Students’ menu, click on ‘Foundation Program’
scroll to the bottom of the page and click on ‘Application Form’
select ‘School of Foundation Studies’ as application type on the application interface
go through the information on subject combinations relevant to your proposed choice of course of study for Direct Entry admission in the list above
read the application guidelines on the application interface and complete the Pre-Application Form to obtain a payment reference number (PRN) using the applicant’s names.
For University of Lagos Staff Children:

Click the staff biological child link, provide 5-digit staff ID number and select appropriate name on the staff children list to obtain a payment reference number (PRN).
Cost of Application Form (including online practice tests (excluding Bank Charges): ₦25,000.00 (non-refundable).
Tuition Fee & Mode of Payments: The tuition fee for the entire programme is #385,000 – #410,000, little wonder,  Instalment payments are allowed in not more than two times.

Biometric Finger Print Registration: You are mandated to do your Biometrics fingerprint immediately after the submission of the application form before the exam. Without the thumb printing, you will not be allowed to write the Exam. Kindly call 09082964145 to register for your fingerprints.

Unilag Masters Part Time Students School Fees
Part Time is 4 Semesters and the School Fees for the first year is within the neighbourhood of #150,000 and Acceptance is #64,500. Then in following year, the part time will pay another #150,000 (depends on department). Some department pay lesser or more. Note: This is just an hint to prepare you ahead. Installments payment is allowed for the part time students. That is the good thing about the part time students.

Unilag Masters Full Time Students School Fees
Full time student only pay for one session which is two semesters. The Full time school Fees is #80,000 and Acceptance Fee is #64,500. It is subject to change based on Department. Some departments pay lesser or more.

ELIGIBLE CANDIDATES:

YEAR 3 ENTRY

For 3 Years Programme HND in Mass Communication from accredited Polytechnics and Monotechnics with a minimum of lower credit and 2- years Post HND experience.

Candidates must be registered members of relevant Regulatory Agencies and or Professional Bodies such as APCON, NIPR, NUJ, etc and must satisfy the’O’ Level requirements in paragraph

SOCIOLOGY MODE OF ENTRY

What are cut off marks?

Cut off marks can be defined as a benchmark score set by a particular institution, which students have to meet if they want to get admitted to study there. This score is chosen according to the performance of students in a particular examination. EXAMPLE ON HOW TO CALCULATE O’LEVEL POINT

David applied for law with five core o’level combinations of Mathematics, English Language, Literature in English, Government and Christian Religious Studies. David had B3 in Mathematics, A1 in English Language, A1 in Literature in English, B2 in Government and A1 in CRK. The O’level point will be summation of all the core subject points which are Maths 3.2 + English 4 + Literature 4 + Government 3.6 + 4 which equals to 18.8 points.

Note: Do not forget that you need to calculate only the five core subjects applicable to your course, you are to add the subjects point together to get your O’LEVEL POINT.

HOW TO CALCULATE YOUR JAMB & POST UTME POINTS?[/b]
To calculate the JAMB or UTME, you just need to divide JAMB/UTME scores by eight. If you want to get your Post UTME score, then divide it by two. Do not forget that candidates should get at least 40% in the Post UTME score. Therefore, they need to get at least 20 questions correctly.

[b]EXAMPLE ON JAMB POINT CALCULATION

David scored 300 in his JAMB exam, to get her Jamb point is 300 divided by 8, 300/8 which is equals to 37.5 points.

ABOUT UNILORIN JUPEB

University of Ilorin is one of the partnering Universities for JUPEB. The University will be training candidates for JUPEB examination from 2017/2018 academic session. Successful candidates will be eligible for Direct Entry admission (200 level) in the University of Ilorin and other participating Universities through Jamb. Admission of JUPEB graduates into University of Ilorin shall be based strictly on merit and other entry requirements in proportion to the admission quota of the University for various programmes.

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants must possess credits in at least five relevant O’Level subjects (which must include English Language, Mathematics and any other three O’Level subjects) in WASC/SSCE, NECO, NABTEB equivalents, in not more than two sittings. Candidates with awaiting results may also apply.
Applicants are to register for a combination of 3 subjects out of 16 subjects according to their proposed course of study in the University.

UNILAG DLI ANNOUNCES DEADLINE FOR FIRST BATCH ADMISSION VALIDATION/REGISTRATION.

This is to inform the general public that the UNILAG DLI Admission Validation/Registration for DLI Batch 1 Exercise that begins on Monday, 9th July, 2018, is closing on Saturday, 17th July, 2018. This was what prompted the sms DLI sent to selected applicants yesterday about the deadline.  We implore all candidates who have been given provisional admission to kindly do the needful between today and Saturday. STEP 1: VALIDATION/REGISTRATION

i. Visit the Distance Learning Institute website - UNILAG DLI PORTAL
ii. Under Portal Login, Click Student Portal Login (Provide your application
number and your surname in lowercase as password you will be required to
change your password immediately from the default password to a secure
password only know to you)
iii. Click on “Acceptance letter” to download and print your acceptance letter.
iv. Click on “Update biodata” to edit your biodata and save.
v. Upload the following:

i. Handwritten Letter of Preparedness to pay all service charge
ii. A reference Letter from Employer or Sponsor
iii. A reference Letter from one of a Lawyer, Clergy, Imam or Senior
Civil Servant

vi. Generate the following
(a) Screening of New Students 2017/2018 Form
(b) Student Information Form
(c) Health Service Questionnaire and the
(d) Students Entrance Medical Examination Form
Applicants are to proceed to Admissions Office at the Distance Learning Institute (DLI)
along with the following documents (original and photocopy) for the registration
exercise:
a. Printed Online Application Form
b. Testimonial (Primary or Secondary)
c. Birth Certificate/Sworn Affidavit that predates the admissions advertisement.
d. O’Level Certificate(s)
e. All higher certificates for Direct Entry
f. NYSC Certificate/NYSC Exclusion Certificate for Direct Entry

j. Online generated Students Entrance Medical Examination Form successful applicants should proceed to Step 2 after 24 hours of submission of the documents listed above in (a - j).

STEP 2: CONTINUE REGISTRATION

i. Click on “Admission letter” to download and print your admission letter.
ii. Click on “Generate/Regenerate Fees” to generate fees for the 2017/2018
session.
iii. a) Online Payment - Click the “Pay Now (Remita)” Button to make payment
online.
b) Bank Payment - Print Pay Advice for payment at any commercial bank in
Nigeria.
iv. Return to the portal http://studentportal.unilag.edu.ng to print out school fees
receipt and complete course registration online.
v. Print out course registration form, biodata form and bring along with
documents listed on (i – viii) under Step 3 to the Admission Office at DLI to
complete registration for student’s records.

STEP 3: FINAL ENROLMENT

Proceed to Admissions Office at DLI with the underlisted documents:

i. Admission Letter
ii. Online generated Letter of Acceptance
iii. Online generated Student Payment Receipt
iv. Completed Health Service Questionnaire
v. Completed Students Entrance Medical Examination Form
vi. Online generated biodata form
vii. On-line Course Registration Form Approved by Course Adviser
viii. Letters: i. Handwritten Letter of Preparedness to pay all service charge
ii. A reference Letter from Employer or Sponsor
iii. A reference Letter from any of a Lawyer, Clergy, Imam or
