INTRODUCTION

The Lagos State University Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies, in the teaching of practical skills entrepreneurship, invites applications from suitably qualified candidates who are desirous of acquiring entrepreneurship skills and knowledge for admission into the Centre’s underlisted Entrepreneurship Certificate Programmes for the 2018/2019 Academic Session.

These programmes are more of an on-hand practical programmes than classroom lecture mode.


GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies requires at least four (4) O’ Level passes credit including English Language at the Ordinary Level (GCE, WASC, SSCE, NECO and NABTEB) for all programmes.

Matured candidates with First School Leaving Certificate (Primary 6) with zeal for Entrepreneurship may be considered.

DISTINTION BETWEEN NYSC REMOBILIZATION AND REVALIDATION

Below is the detailed explanation of difference between NYSC Revalidation and Remobilization.

REMOBILIZATION

“I have been mobilized in a previous NYSC batch but absconded from service in camp or after camping”

In this instance, you attended the orientation camp, do the normal registration on camp and then you run away. You will have to do remobilization

Chef Chioma belongs to NYSC 2018 Batch A. She was deployed to Kaduna, present at the orientation camp. After orientation camp or before the end of orientation camp, she ran away because of assurance. Chef Chioma is now ready for NYSC and wants to join NYSC 2018 Batch B; all she needs to do is to REMOBILIZE.

REVALIDATION

“I have been deployed in a previous NYSC batch but did not show up in camp”

In another form, you have been deployed to a state by NYSC and you refuse to show up in camp. After deployment, you are supposed to go for an orientation exercise.

Chef Chioma belong to NYSC 2018 Batch B Stream I. She was deployed to Kaduna but she refused to go for the orientation camp because of assurance. Chef Chioma is now ready for NYSC and wants to join NYSC 2018 Batch A, all she needs to do is REVALIDATE.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Sunday said it had set Saturday, May 26, 2018 for rescheduled Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) for more than 12,000 candidates across the country.

The Board’s Head of Media, Fabian Benjamin, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.

According to Mr Benjamin, more than 12,000 candidates are expected to sit for the mop up examinations in few of its centres across the country.

This category of candidates, he explained, are those whose biometrics were not captured during the initial period of the UTME in March.

He said: “It would also include those, who are yet to see their results since the end of the examinations in March till date and have not been involved in any form of malpractice.”

“It will also include those, who were unable to print out their e-slip before the earlier examinations and those whose centres were cancelled for suspected malpractices.’’

According to him, “there are centres that were cancelled because of suspicious activities but the board was unable to identify the actual culprits.

However, he said that those, who were involved and caught in illicit acts and centres where a case of malpractice has been established against them would not partake in the rescheduled examinations.

He advised candidates who might have fallen into any of the categories qualified for the examination to print their e-slips from Monday, May 21.

NAN recalls the board had earlier promised to reschedule the examinations for some candidates whose cases were exceptional, adding that candidates, who fall under such categories would be contacted before then. Wishing you all the very best.

Prospective students of Covenant University are to obtain the JAMB forms, choose Covenant University and sit for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) of the Board as prescribed in the relevant advertisement for the 2018/2019 admission exercise.

Applicant Responsibility

It is the responsibility of the applicant to make certain that all admission materials are received by the designated application deadline. Neither the Admissions Office nor the Departments can assume the responsibility of informing the applicant about erroneous or missing materials.

All materials (original, photocopied, or electronic document) submitted in support of an application become a part of Covenant University application record and cannot be released to the student or a third party.  If application materials are forged, falsified, or altered, the Admissions Office will notify all relevant officials. Submission of such materials will disqualify an applicant for admission.

Non-Refundable Application Fee

The application form fee is non-refundable.
The application form can be saved with a view of completion at a later date.
An application cannot be submitted if the application fee is not paid at the end of the form.
The application form fee for the 2018/2019 academic year is N5,000 (Five Thousand Naira Only).
Post-UTME Screening fee is N2,000 (Two thousand Naira only).

Statement of Purpose

A statement of purpose (not more than 500-word count) should be prepared and submitted online with the application. The personal statement should address your intellectual interests, academic and professional objectives, visions, and goals for life. HOW DOES LASU DO THEIR SCREENING?
After the released of all of LASU’s departmental cut off marks for the year 2018/2019, the next important information to know is what next after post utme, which is How LASU do their screening.

Basically, the Lagos State University does its admission screening in two phases, which are:

The first phase involves aspirants who applied to study in LASU proceeding for the pre-screening exercise immediately it is being announced.Usually, during this first phase, only two major documents are needed i.e SSCE Result and JAMB Registration print out. The University community, general public, parents, guardians and in particular the 2016/2017 graduating students are hereby informed that the 2016/2017 Academic Session Convocation Ceremonies is starting tomorrow. The postponed convocation ceremony of the University of Lagos, will commence tomorrow May 8 and run through May 11, the Registrar, Dr Taiwo Ipaye, has said. A week-long convocation ceremony for the 2016/2017 academic session was earlier scheduled to begin on Feb. 19 but postponed as a result of strike by non academic workers. “The university management is happy to announce a new date for the convocation ceremony. “The schedule for the ceremony remains the same. The only additional thing is reception for retired professors, directors and registrars; it will take place on the last day, Friday, May 11, after Jumat prayers,” she said. According to the registrar, Gov. Akinwumi Ambode of Lagos State will deliver the convocation lecture on May 8. “The lecture, with the theme: “Inclusion: The Path to a New Nation’’, previously scheduled for Feb. 19, would kick-start activities lined up for the ceremony,’’ she said. Ipaye said that an opening exhibition and the inauguration of the 12th Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, would, however, precede the lecture.

According to her, the main convocation ceremony will be held in two sessions (morning and afternoon) each day from May 9 to May 11. The registrar said that award of first degrees, diplomas, certificates and the announcement of prize winners for graduating students of Faculties of Education and Social Sciences would take place in the morning of May 9. She said graduating students for the Faculties of Arts, Environmental Sciences and Sciences would be attended to in the afternoon of the same day. According to Ipaye, on May 10, award of first degrees, diplomas, certificates and announcement of prize winners for graduating students of the Faculties of Engineering, Law and Management Sciences will hold in the morning. She said that graduating students of the Faculties of Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical Sciences, Dental Sciences, Pharmacy and the Distance Learning Institute would be awarded first degrees, diplomas and certificates in the afternoon of the same day. Ipaye said that the ceremony would end on May 11 with congregation for the award of higher degrees of the School of Postgraduate Studies. She said that on the same day, the Best Researcher Award and conferment of the Distinguished and Emeritus Professors would also hold.

The invitation cards and complete set of academic outfit made up of gown, hood, cap and scroll would be available for collection on presentation of receipt/teller for payment at the College/School/Faculty/Institute as appropriate, Convocation Brochure and Academic outfit are to be collected at the various locations earlier mentioned.

The Unilag Foundation Programme is a one year Programme after which you can use the certificate to gain admission into 200 level in any course of your choice in Unilag and other schools including selected universities abroad.

The Geneva Challenge 2018 - The Advancing Development Goals International Contest for Graduate Students.

The Contest
Eager to stimulate reflection and innovation on development from diverse disciplinary and contextual perspectives and with the generous support of Ambassador Jenö Staehelin, the Graduate Institute has launched in 2014 the Advancing Development Goals Contest, an international competition for graduate students.

The Challenge

The idea is to gather contributions that are both theoretically grounded and offer pragmatic solutions to a relevant international development problem stemming from an interdisciplinary collaboration between 3 to 5 enrolled master students from anywhere in the world.

This year, five prizes will be distributed; one in each of the following categories (based on the UN Statistics list):

Universities located in Africa
Universities located in Asia
Universities located in Europe
Universities located in North America and Oceania
Universities located in South America
Selection Process
Your submissions will be evaluated by an interdisciplinary academic steering committee who will select 3 submissions per category to be published on the competitions website and then reviewed by an independent jury of experts with academic, governmental and private sector backgrounds.

Five finalist teams, one team per continent, will be invited (traveling and accommodation expenses covered) to an oral presentation in Geneva, where they will defend their ideas and answer questions from the jury and from the public. The finalists will also be present at an awards ceremony where the results of the contest will be announced preceded by a high-level key-note speech on the challenges of climate change.

Prizes
The ADG contest distributes 25,000 CHF in monetary prizes. The winning project is awarded CHF 10,000; the two teams in second place will receive CHF 5,000 and the two teams in third place, CHF 2,500.

The registration deadline is simply the date by which we need you to fill in the application form below, and send us your proof of enrollment that confirms your status as master students.

The documents (enrollment certificates or student cards) should contain your name, your graduate programme and a recent issuance date.

Applications are open for school of data fellowship programme 2018. The aim of the fellowship is to increase the awareness of data literacy and build communities who together, can use data literacy skills to make change they want to see in the world.

WHAT IS A SCHOOL OF DATA FELLOW?

 
Fellowships are nine-month placements with School of Data for data-literacy practitioners or enthusiasts. During this time, fellows work alongside School of Data: you will learn a lot from us and we will learn a lot from you! We'll work together to build an individual programme for your fellowship, that equips you with the skills to take your data-literacy work forward, whether that be how to train, how to network or how to organise events. In all these areas, our aim is to increase awareness of data-literacy and build communities who together, can use data literacy skills to make the change they want to see in the world.
Our fellowship programme aims to to recruit and train the next generation of data leaders and trainers to magnify the reach of our data literacy programme. The fellows will provide training and ongoing support to journalists, civil society organisations, and individual change-makers to use data effectively within their community and country. We are looking for applicants who already have connections to a network of data-literacy enthusiasts, or have some link with a particular organisation working in this field.

WHO SHOULD APPLY?

Open journalist, data scientists, civil society advocates and anyone interested in advancing data literacy.

We recruit fellows on an annual basis, and provide them with data and leadership training as well as coaching to organise events and build their community. Our fellows are part of a growing global network of School of Data practitioners, benefiting from the network effects of sharing resources and knowledge and contributing to our understanding of how best to localise our training efforts.

This is where you can make a difference.
 
2017 will be the fourth cycle of our Fellowship Programme. Since we launched, fellows have helped multiple organisations around the world to become more data-literate, building long-standing relationships with communities, which have lasted long after the fellowship period. We will be recruiting up to 10 fellowship positions in 2017. These fellowships will run from April to December. Our goal is to have fellows from a wide mix of countries all over the world.


A final point: we are committed to being inclusive in its recruitment practices. Inclusiveness means excluding no one because of race, age, religion, cultural appearance, sexual orientation, ethnicity or gender. WAEC GCE 2018 Registration. Intending candidates for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates, 2018 – WAEC GCE are hereby informed that the registration will be online by next month that is starting tomorrow.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT WAEC G.C.E

If you want to take the WAEC GCE this year, then you should be getting ready financially for the form. Registration for WAEC GCE 2018/2019 is commencing next month May, What you need to know about WAEC GCE 2018-2019 West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) (Private), commonly referred to as WAEC GCE, is a twice-yearly exam meant for those who want to receive a West African Senior School Certificate. The exam comes in two series namely:

FIRST SERIES
The first series is the newly introduced urban-based examination. Examination will hold between January/February2018. Registration is currently on.

SECOND SERIES
The Second series is the existing WASSCE for Private Candidates examination which is normally written between August/September of every year. Registration normally starts around April of every year

The first one usually happens in January/February with registration starting in October. The second one is held in August/September with registration starting in April. The first series examination is done and dusted.  we recommend you to get a move on! But before you do, learn a little bit more about the exam and the registration process. There are 19 approved subjects you can choose from for your examination which includes:
