Man arrested for raping a lady with Down Syndrome in Ogun State.

A man identified as Kunle Abati, 29, has been arrested by men of Ogun State Police Command for allegedly and forcefully having carnal knowledge of a 27-year-old lady with Down Syndrome.

The suspect, Kunle Abati, was arrested on December 7th, 2022 following a report lodged at Ilese Ijebu Divisional Headquarters by the mother of the victim, who reported that she sent her daughter on an errand at about 7:30 am, but when she returned, she discovered blood stain on her cloth.

She further stated that when she asked her daughter about the blood on her cloth, she took her to the house of the suspect and explained that the suspect had carnal knowledge of her.

Upon the report, the DPO of Ilese Ijebu Divisional Police Headquarters, CSP Paul Omiwole detailed his detectives to go after the suspect and he was subsequently arrested.

On interrogation, the suspect confessed to committing the crime, adding that he equally capitalized on the health challenge of the lady to rape and defile her.

Work Advances On Amansea-Ebenebe-Ugbenu-Ugbene-Awba-Ofemmili Road.

The saying that it is not over until it is over is the best way to explain the heart of people of Awka North Local Government Area, Awka as they witness massive construction work ongoing on the twenty six kilometer Amansea-Ebenebe-Ugbenu-Ugbene-Awba Ofemmili road project in Awka.

The Commissioner for Works, Engineer Ifeanyi Okoma inspected progress of work on the road and expressed satisfaction with pace and quality of work done so far.

Work commenced in October on the 26km road with earth work along Amansea axis.

Two months after, the level of progress recorded on the road was impressive as the road has become motorable from Amansea to Awba-Ofemmili.

Also, stone base has been laid on the road from kilometer 11 to kilometer 15, while earthwork continued up to kilometer 19, which is in front of Community Secondary School, Ugbenu.

Men, equipment and materials owned by GELD construction company were seen at various points doing various degrees of work.

Speaking after inspecting the progress of work, the Commissioner for Works, Engineer Okoma said it is possible because of Governor Soludo's dedication and steadfast in achieving his set goals.

According to Engineer Okoma, Anambra state government under Governor Soludo is bent on achieving integration to ensure accessibility and connectivity among communities in the hinter lands and urban cities.

While describing the move as a game changer and a new dawn for road infrastructure in Anambra state, Engineer Okoma appreciated the contractor for the speed and quality of work done so far, not minding that the project has 18 months timeline to be completed .

On his part, the Site Manager, Engineer Faadi Azzaz, said he is ready to deliver the job according to specifications, adding that he has the capacity to give Anambra state government the best so that the durability of the road would be intact.

He thanked the Governor for trusting him with the responsibility and assured that he will not be disappointed.

Some residents of Ugbenu were full of appreciation to Governor Soludo for remembering them after so many years of hardship and deceit from politicians .

They prayed God to bless and give him the grace to achieve his desire for Ndi Anambra.
