Politics / Re: Nigerian Government Adopts Measures To Reduce Food Prices by Emekamex(m): 6:51pm On Feb 08, 2017
Adminisher:

What kind of ignorance is all this on Nairaland
Nigeria's high inflation was PREDICTED accurately from November, last year. They also said it will hit food prices most . The Mtef documents, 2017 budget document, UBA 2017 forecasts, GTB forecasts, IMF, ..even interviews on Channels TV by Rewane and other people familiar with our economy late last year all said the same thing .
Where are people keeping their brains in Nigeria?
Instead of people thinking, reading and learning they just stay on social media and post RUBBISH.
Prepare for more.

As the economy improves and gets reflated, there will be sporadic inflationary spikes that will go and come.
If you want to know more, READ.
Minimum wage will also go up late this year or early 2018, prepare for further short term inflation.
Economics is a science , there is no emotion in it.

It was predicted for the government to find a solution to it both short and long term and not to sit down and act only when citizens protest.
If the government implemented this months ago, the impact of inflation will be felt less by the citizens.

You are the one being emotional and blinded by the fact that we are being ruled by visionless leaders.
Politics / Re: Nigerian Government Adopts Measures To Reduce Food Prices by Emekamex(m): 3:49pm On Feb 08, 2017
Are they just realizing this?

This is the reason why citizens should speak up during oppresion, as we can see that this idea would not have materialized if people did not complain.

This is the major difference between Africa and the developed world, over here we have reactionary leaders that only function in times of desperation rather than the visionary leadership of the West which thinks about the future while also catering for the present.

This govt is always living in self delusion. They have barely one year to get things right as it is a known fact that the last year is always a campaign year where no project is ever executed.

I guess it will be shooting practice for the police then, they are known for shooting unharmed protesters.

This might also be the reason why Nigerians always adapt to hardship, the zeal of protests and expressions has been killed by the brutal force of security agents.

Nigerians lives are slowly becoming valueless, if this happened 10 years ago, it would have been a talking point for months but nowadays it has been accepted as a norm and people feel less bothered about it.

Why we easily accept and adapt to mediocrity is still a mystery yet to be unravelled.

Politics / Re: Nigeria Gains $22m From Bonny Light Crude In December by Emekamex(m): 8:26am On Jan 31, 2017
I thought by now that our economy wont be relying on crude, we were promised so in the last budget.

I guess nothing changes after all, I am still waiting for the leader that will optimize the use of all our natural and human resources.

People think 2016 was bad, 2017 will be far worse as no serious effort is being made by government coupled with the fact that new generations are being born daily.

If we cant feed the present population, how do we future ones being expected in 2017?

Education / Re: Katsina University Religious Regulation: An Illegality Taken Too Far by Emekamex(m): 2:10pm On Jan 22, 2017
TonyeBarcanista:
Nigeria is a secular state, as such people should be allowed to freely practice their faith as long as they don't trample on the right of others.

Yeah I know, that is why I made that statement. Our government is always muddling the two together thereby creating unnecessary tension.
The school was built to educate folks and so issues like banning one religious organization is illegal and an unnecessary action by government who shouldnt be debating on such in first place.

Religion is impeding our growth, we should learn to separate politics and religion.
Give Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God. The two should not mixed up.

When will we get it right? Ethiopia is improving its power output at a tremendous pace while we are still hovering around 3500-5000 mw for the past 20 years.
Sometimes I fear for the future generations yet to come as life will definitely be hell for them if we dont improve.
