Nigerians like celebrating mediocrity. Citizens queueing for several hours just to buy basic foodstuff is not an achievement.

Politics / Re: Racism, The Rational & Logical Response To Black Behavior (philosophical Debate) by Emekamex(m): 5:38am On Dec 24, 2016
pleep:
For the last couple of months i have been working part-time at a fast food restaurant near campus. The staff is majority white, with me being one of the few black employees and the patronage is 20/80% with whites being the majority of customers.

In the united states it is customary to offer free water to customers, and so when our water fountain broke we simply began giving out regular 2$ drink cups free to people who requested water. These cups came with the instruction to fill it up with water from our soda fountain. The white patrons at the store adapted to this change without issue, filling their cups with water as instructed. However, this was not the case with our black customers. For the several months i worked at this restaurant i observed the fact that 9/10 customers who stole drinks (would ask for a water cup and then fill it with soda) were black. In fact almost every black person who asked for a water cup proceeded to fill it with soda and run out of the store.

Today the restaurant decided to stop giving out free water-cups as a general policy, but in practice only to blacks. This is racism, but is it also the logical and rational response to black behavior? If so, then racism is justified and how can anyone then claim that racism is wrong?

You should also know that the average black in America is poor when compared to whites, so most of them will take advantage of such situation.

You should ask yourself if black man earning as much as whites will bother to exhibit such behaviour?
The summary being that most blacks exhibit criminal tendency due to poverty.

Your getting it wrong again, we actually have low liquidity at present and salaries of consumers is the main determinant of their spending power.
We have little produce because people are no longer willing to spend as they were before.

High prices translate to higher profits higher profits translate to more investment more investment translate to more jobs and more competition... More competition translate to drop in price... But this process don't take less than 5 years

U want ur government to allow u flood the market with cheap foreign products yet u want him to create employment.... Really??

This just basic economics... If we don't do it today our children will do it tomorrow... Lets fave it once and for all

Where did you learn your economics?
High prices doesnt translate to high income if consumers salaries are stagnant. It rather causes lower income for producers as a lot of consumers will stop patronizing goods, thereby crippling investments.
Stop deceiving people with half baked presumptions.

Foreign Affairs / Gambia's Ruler Refuses To Step Down Despite Losing Election by Emekamex(m): 2:53pm On Dec 10, 2016
Defeated president Yahya Jammeh, who had previously vowed to rule for "a billion years", claimed a "thorough investigation" had revealed voting irregularities and demanded fresh elections.

Gambia's President-elect Adama Barrow has been due to take office in January

His announcement on state television, which has sparked international condemnation, has plunged the future of the West African country into doubt.

Mr Jammeh had last week conceded defeat to Adama Barrow, who secured 45% of the vote compared to the incumbent's 36%.

There had been celebrations at the prospect of an end to Mr Jammeh's 22-year rule, with many seeing it as a step forward for democracy.

His regime was accused by human rights groups of detaining, torturing and killing political opponents.

But the president has now decided to contest the poll result.

He said: "After a thorough investigation, I have decided to reject the outcome of the recent election.

"I lament serious and unacceptable abnormalities which have reportedly transpired during the electoral process.

"I recommend fresh and transparent elections which will be officiated by a god-fearing and independent electoral commission."

It presents a major challenge to the incoming administration of Mr Barrow, which already faced the problem of dealing with an army that for two decades was loyal to the president.

A political unknown just six months ago, the father of five was thrust into the spotlight as a unity candidate after the jailing of members of the opposition.

Mr Barrow ran an estate agency in the country, but lived in Britain for three-and-a-half years when he was younger, working as a security guard for Argos in London, where he developed a love for Arsenal Football Club.

The head of Mr Barrow's transition team said the president-elect and his staff were safe.

Mai Ahmad Fatty said: "We are consulting on what to do, but as far as we are concerned, the people have voted.

"We will maintain peace and stability and not let anyone provoke us into violence."

The US State Department has condemned Mr Jammeh's rejection of the results and said it was was a flagrant attempt to undermine a credible election and remain illegitimately in power.

Senegal's foreign minister, Mankeur Ndiaye, has called for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council and "solemnly" warned Mr Jammeh not to harm Senegal's interests or its citizens in Gambia.

Mr Barrow had been due to take office in late January following a transition period.

Politics / Madagali Blast: Nigeria’s Military Won’t Be Deterred- Buhari by Emekamex(m): 11:04pm On Dec 09, 2016
*30 killed, 67 injured
*Atiku urges greater vigilance, intelligence surge

No fewer than 56 persons have been confirmed dead and 177 others injured after two female suicide bombers yesterday afternoon detonated their bombs at a crowded Central market, Gulak, the Headquarters of Madagali Local Government area of Adamawa State. The Chairman of the local government, Alhaji Yusuf Mohammed confirmed the attack, describing it as one of the worst attacks to have occurred in the area. President Muhammadu Buhari has said that the Nigeria military would not be deterred from stamping out Boko Haram terrorists in Nigeria. The president spoke on the heels of the twin bomb blasts in the town of Madagali, Adamawa State yesterday which claimed some lives and injured several others. Describing the blasts as desperate act of terrorism, the president expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of victims assuring Nigerians that his administration would put an end to the killings. He also condoled with the Government and people of the state over the unfortunate incident, saying they are not alone as the rest of nation mourned, “this grave loss with them.” President Buhari restated: “Putting an end to this senseless loss of innocent lives remains a top priority of this administration” adding that, “over the past few weeks, the Nigerian military have made significant advancements in an offensive aimed at slamming the final nail in the coffin of Boko Haram.” According to him, “This latest attack is obviously an act of desperation, but the Nigerian military will neither be distracted nor relent.” President Buhari also urged Nigerians to be more vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activity to the nearest security and law enforcement agency.
