As a Bsc graduate in Accounting Education, I was given financial accounting, English language and current affairs for the written test interview. The account and English was WAEC standard questions. After the written test interview, the principal said he will call me for further interviews if i pass the test.

On Thursday morning, I received a call from the school inviting me for further interviews which is oral and micro teaching. When I got there, the principal was asking me loads of questions like why should I hire you? How many years experience do you have? How do you discipline a child? how can you make this school grow? Can we trust you with our female students? bla bla bla... After that we went to the classroom for the final segment which was micro teaching.

After everything, he employed me and we started discussing about the subject I will teach and the salary. The principal said I will be teaching Accounting, Economics and Marketing (ss1 - ss3), I said no problem.

What really got me angry was about the salary, he said he's willing to pay me 30k without negotiation.

As if that wasn't enough, he later said he can also call me anytime to teach any subject if the particular subject teacher isn't around. I was just laughing in my mind.

The principal was expecting me to resume today, he has been calling me since morning, I haven't picked his calls. I'm not a slave.

Mind you, this is a standard private school and my "least" expectation was 45k, Assuming he was willing to pay 45k, I would have resumed today.

Why are private schools so wicked? Is teaching job now a modern day slavery? I'm tired of this country.

When you say Tinunu has never lost and election what do you actually mean? Because I don’t get this reoccurring position.

Is that he was a two term governor, which many other ex governors were. Or is it that he never supported a candidate he/she lost. If the latter is yes , let’s take up the arguments from there

And ASUU agreements with Briggs led committee is still waiting for his signature. Meanwhile, students have been at home for 4 months , at brinks of loosing a session.

The way people keep quiet at excesses of this govt still baffles me.

If the president cannot resolve the industrial action by university teachers so that children whom the country future depends on can go back to school, tell me what is he going to Lisbon to discuss

I have always said this to measure intelligence, brilliance or smartness of tribes is not by how many professors or PHDs a tribe has. Those ones are matters of interest. I can leave my business and get a PHD in the next 3 or 4 years if I so desire.

Now, to check intelligence , pick a Yoruba man that didn’t go to secondary and pick an Igbo that didn’t attend secondary school and compare.
A number of Igbo men that had only first school leaving are very bright doing businesses home and abroad. I’m not talking about drug pushers . Go to mandillars , Alaba international interact and see. Some of them even married well educated wives.

But most Yorubas that didn’t go to secondary school resort to agboroism , many of them into public transportation and after the days work spend time and money in brothels

this evening i decided to make a rough calculation.. does it mean that if i'm to be paid 8k monthly i barely receive up to N245 (TWO HUNDRED AND FORTY FIVE NAIRA) a day..
its really bad how working in a private school can really extort you,those schools will drain u to rubbish.!.. pls no ever ever think to go teach,its better u stay home and sleep or go out and take a stroll.its not worth it at all at all!.

anyways i will be JAPARING out of the school at the end of the term,without even giving them a clue.

When I hear teachers receiving 30k as salaries in today’s world, I wonder if such teachers really have what it takes to teach and impart the lives of students.

As a teacher u really need to have value for yourself . Instead of taking meager pay as salary thereby under valuing the services of teachers , choose something else to do.

I don’t have a degree in education (I have B.Eng), but in my last teaching job I was taking home almost 100k with free apartment. That’s before I resigned to go into biz.

Even now I earn up to 70k per month teaching online. I teach students in the US and other states in Nigeria.

We are in digital age, do make use of that. Your location shouldn’t limit you

I made that last post as a wake up call not criticism, As it stands at this very moment Peter Obi can not rule Nigeria, he simply cannot. We need some with experience, otherwise we will be setting ourselves up for another version of GEJ.
