Cattle dealers in Garriki Cattle market, Awkunanu-Enugu, yesterday faulted media reports that their mosque was burnt down owing to a dispute between two people in the market that led to their deaths.
The cattle dealers said that a burnt property in the market was a as a result of harmatan haze, which no single individual or group was identified as being responsible for the fire incident.
Leaders of the cattle market spoke yesterday when Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state visited the market for on-the-spot assessment and interaction with the cattle market community.
Governor Ugwuanyi was conducted round the market by the Chairman of the Garriki cattle market Association, Alhaji Baba Ali, former Senior Special Assistant to the Enugu state Governor on inter-community matters, Hon. Ahmed Abubakar, among other leaders of the Hausa community in the market.
Speaking on the incident that took place on Wednesday, the Chairman of Garriki Cattle market in Enugu, Alhaji Baba Ali said: “Something happened by accident that we did not expect. Since 1970, we have been with the Igbo people here in peace and we have not had any problem. Something just happened by accident but we have settled the problem.
“Any other news they are telling you is mere propaganda. We don’t have problem, we have been together since 1970, both Amagu and Amaechi, we have been together like brothers and sisters.

Despite the heavy presence of security personnel in Kafanchan, gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen on Saturday attacked Goska village in Jema’a local government area, of Kaduna state, killing five (5) people and burning most houses in the village.DAILY POST reports that the attackers invaded the village around 7pm on Saturday evening as villagers were preparing for evening church service to mark Christmas eve.Though there was heavy police presence on Sunday after the attack, residents who escapedsaid that while the invasion was taking place, no police help came until the attackers left. Thecorps of female residents, including the 14-year-old daughter of former Chairman of Jema’a local government area, Barrister GideonMorik, was deposited at the Kafanchan General– Hospital mortuary.It was also gathered that two more women were killed by the assailants, in the village, which belong to Kaninkon people.The attackers did not burn the entire town, but targeted homes of local community leaders and homes of active youths in the village whichalso affected other homes, villagers told our reporter.Meanwhile, Christmas celebration was low key in Kaduna state as the security and economic situation combined to dampen the celebration. In Southern Kaduna, unlike other years, yearly influx of natives living outside the areas was low. However, in Zonkwa, headquarters of Zangon Kataf local government area, a large crowd of celebrants made a long procession singing woship songs in a yearly even called “Celebrate Jesus.”The event which was organised by Barrister Mark Jacob, former Commissioner of Justice and Attorney General of Kaduna state, started around 2pm with the throng walking for about 2km on the main street of the town. Speaking with DAILY POST on the occasion, Jacob said, “This year’s Celebrate Jesus is a very solemn one. The Bible says that in every condition you find yourself, praise and give thanks to God. Our people are going through the worse time inrecent memory. “This celebration is to mark thecoming of our saviour Jesus Christ and to thank him and express our Faith in him that everything will be alright very soon,” he said

N/Delta militants to attack S/Kaduna disguised as Fulani, says El-Rufai
Kaduna State governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, has said security agents are on the trail of those instigating crisis in the southern senatorial part of the state.

He also said investigations have revealed plans to use Niger Delta militants to disguise as Fulani to attack people in the zone. 

El-Rufai who spoke during a media chat on Wednesday night in Kaduna, said he was aware politicians were sponsoring the attacks and were benefitting from the crisis, asserting that they would be arrested and prosecuted to serve as deterrent to others.

The governor disclosed that plans were underway to establish two military formations in the Southern part as a way of ending the crisis, stressing that the state government got assurances of President Muhammadu Buhari, the Ministry of Defence and Chief of Army Staff on the request to site the military formations.

He said the proposed military formations would be in Fadan Karshi in Sanga and Kauru local government areas respectively to provide rapid response to acts of criminality.

The governor said that in the meantime, the presence of security personnel had been beefed up in the area to stem the tide of violence.

In a related move to address insecurity, the Kaduna State government yesterday held an emergency meeting with the state council of traditional rulers with a call on them to caution their people against crisis.

Speaking during the meeting, Deputy Governor of the state, Barnabas Bala Bantex who represented the state Governor Nasir El-rufai, described the killings and tension in Southern Kaduna as  unfortunate, saying, “I will like to assure our people that the present leadership in the state has no  secret agenda of pursuing ethnic or religious agenda. The bandits killing people in southern Kaduna and states like Zamfara are not doing it based on religion. They are criminals,” he said.

The meeting had in attendance the Emir of Zazzau, Emir of Kagaro, Emir of Birnin Gwari, Chief of Ninzo and Atta Adara, amongst others.

My Father and millions of Nigerians also paid into the same funds for more than 30 years and nothing came out of it.
Some state governments are owing their workers up to 1 year wages, the federal government and some parastatals are not different.
My father-in-law gave his life to NTA as a photojournalist travelling all over the country to cover events. Many years after his death, his widow is still waiting for NTA to pay his entitlements.
Remember how government came up with idea of community banks and encouraged Nigerians to patronise them, remember Allied Bank, Lobi Bank, Abacus Bank, City Express Bank, Assurance Bank of Nigeria, Hallmark Bank Plc, Ivory Merchant Bank, Lead Merchant Bank, Metropolitan Bank, All States Trust Bank, Coop and Commerce Bank, Commerce Bank, Credite Bank, Pinnacle Commercial Bank, Kapital Merchant Bank, Ivory Merchant Bank, Prime Merchant Bank, Republic Bank, Eagle Bank Plc, Liberty Bank, Progress Bank, North South Bank, Pan African Bank; remember pensioners who had their money in Societe Generale, dont forget the traders whose lives were destroyed by Gulf Bank, and many more too numerous to mention. Should we blame these people for keeping their hard earned money in NDIC insured banks ? Dont ask me about NDIC please.
On a different scale, remember how many hours you spent at the polling booth to vote for Buhari, remember how we all campaigned vigorously to remove Jonathan and how many people you encouraged to vote for PMB. What has come out of it for us all ?
How about the money you worked hard for and contributed when your Churches /Mosques wanted to establish those private universities and now your children are excluded from the qualitative education they offer because you can not afford the tuition fees ? What do you think about the money you pay to NEPA or whatever it is called now every month regardless of whether they supply you electricity or not ?
How are these different from MMM.
I agree that some people are into MMM because of greed but most of those who invested in MMM did so because they have been duped by some government backed schemes in the past. There is poverty in the land and people are looking for ways to survive. They knew the risk they were getting into and were all willing to take the risk. Afterall, living in Nigeria at all at this moment is a risk and working for the government is also a risk slightly lower than investing in MMM.
The truth is every Nigerian living in Nigeria is into one form of MMM or the other and I do not see any sense in mocking anybody for taking a risk, as long as it is with their own money. Afterall, Nigeria itself is a Ponzi scheme. God bless Nigeria.

If I use the saying "robbing Peter to pay Paul " to qualify what Nigeria banks do their customers, then it's an understatement what they are actually doing is robbing Peter to rob Paul, last two months their was rumour that heritage bank has folded, which cbn immediately came out and said that I was not true, but it was true, because heritage bank being a new bank has not gained popularity, it has not many customers, but it's owned by cbn, a lot of it's costumers withdrew more than they put in heritage bank, heritage bank collapsed, when some people, went to collect their money, those people realised that their money is no more there because heritage bank has given their fixed deposits and some normal deposits out as loans. But due to heritage bank is owned by central bank of Nigeria, they quickly came to heritage bank's rescue. Have u not asked ur self why top staff of zenith bank has to kneel to beg fayose, because they know what will happen if fayose moves out his billions from the bank, haven't u wondered why u must not withdraw ur last 1k from banks, because it helps keep the bank alive and from it they give out loans and pay their staff, they bank accuses mmm of using referential bonus and 30% to attract new members, but banks uses false promos that if u put 50k that u will stand the chance of winning 1m, which I have never seen anybody won, even when they show it is staged, they just gather their staff and video it.
