She is a female Judge, and maybe the seat is becoming hotter for her. I like what she did. When a judge knows that he is likely to be biased in a matter before him due to some circumstances, he or she(the court) should withdraw from the matter, this is to still preserve integrity and probity in the profession..This should be encouraged!

Such a painful loss to the mother. This life is very strange, an only child snatched by death in such a cruel manner. Nigeria is a failed state,no doubt. law enforcement agencies shooting live bullets to students in a civil protest, this can never happen in western world. I feel the pain of her mother. RIP to GINA!!!...

We all need to repent, nobody knows the hour not even the SON.

They have demystified this SANSHIP of a thing. It is no longer as it used to be, evidently one of the features of a failed state like Nigeria. 40 Sans following an accused person to court just like puppets...I no longer have wholesome respect them. I have seen some of them misbehaving in court because they are paid some big briefs. If there is still any modicum of sanctity in this profession, its only in the bench and that's where I still admire and want to reach someday.

If they deservingly got it, then I consider them heroes. Its hard enough just to eat in such an environment.

To experience such hell and not only pull through uncremated, but in flying colours is highly praiseworthy.

"Real Southern standard first class"? What does that even mean?!

I'm not in the habit of talking nasty of a people, but that really got to me.

Now, I happen to serve in Unizik, Awka. I've been to most higher institutions in the south east and some parts of the SS, I've seen things, quite bad things, but one university stands out, maybe because I happen to be there longer: UNIZIK.

In that school, exam malpractice is almost a norm. Writing exams by proxy, even worse. Especially in faculties like management sciences.

I was shocked last Tuesday when I went to Unizik business school. On my way back downstairs, hall 13, faculty of mgt of course, I saw students, should be 400L cos its so written boldly door top, writing exams but it was something like I've never seen before (actually, I had. Where? Unizik, again!) students were discussing in exam hall as though it were a market square, invigilator, there present. That same day, the faculty of law recorded many casualties as well.

You see final year students with high CGPAs, yet they haven't written more than 4 exams themselves. Irregularities abound. Money can get you almost anything in that school, the women, even less money!

Or is it Anambra state uni where sorting is the only way up?

Fed poly Oko is much in the same brackets.

Abia State uni? Some professors there are not even bachelorly bright!

This place has shown me really, that the clichéd adage "an empty barrel makes the loudest noise" holds true.

I've seen the same patterns in most schools around. Students with good grades who barely know a thing!
How could they when the whole process from the lowest rungs to the zenith are rigged and fraudulent.

Like I said, money gets you anything here, just not much quality!

Up North, at least in most unis I've been to, and especially the one I graduated from, little as a writing on your palm could get you expelled; only pray you don't get caught!

What again did you say the southern standard is?

PS: this is not an attack on Anambra/se institutions, far from it, I'm just driving home a point, only that I'm using facts, drawing from the things that I've seen.

Mine was a case of strong passion for legal profession. sometimes when I tell my story people don't believe. I wrote jamb four times before I finally gained admission to study my LLB programme...and out of the four jamb I wrote, I was offered admission on all, first was mass communication at ANSU which I considered incongruous to me. second was English in UNN,third was English again in OAU in 2011. But now,i make bold to stress that I am maximally enjoying my dream course currently(AAU), in penultimate class. Above all,its destiny whether it's your dream course or not.

If this lawyer knows his onions,he should make millions of naira from this incident. He should filed an action forthwith at the Federal High Court and join the inspector General of police, commissioner of police of lagos, and the said police corporal as parties to the action. The statement of claim should be rich, something of say 50 million as compensation

Is it not shameful and sad that the people that we have elected to be the law makers are those that break the laws.

Thats why sexual act law was reduced to 11 years because of their colleague that will be affected.

You will never see strict laws for corrupt politicians

Until we have people of integrity in the senate...the laws they pass will only favor them.
exactly bro,the whole thing is just tiring and unsavoury, we can only hope for the better. But the criminal justice system of this country is very poor and badly managed. God help us!
Politics / Re: Court Fines EFCC For Detaining Secondus by Emilord(m): 8:54am On Apr 09, 2016
That serves EFCC right. section 7 of the new Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015,has provided against arbitrary arrest by security operatives,so I still wonder why EFCC is still making random and arbitrary arrests...maybe they are not aware of the new Statute

I think it is only in state universities that one can confidently say that first class is not beans..,take for instance Ambrose alli university Ekpoma, since I have been in the school(am currently in 400l,law),the school has only graduated one first class student, and that was last year from Engineering department. then compare and contrast yourself

Politics / Re: Court Orders FG To Allow Dasuki Access To His Lawyers by Emilord(m): 1:46pm On Apr 07, 2016
TPAND:
Buhari should stop bastardizing our judicial system. Everything should not be in his Favour. Allow Dansuki see his lawyers, it's a right every criminal gets, and Dansuki is no exception.

Amnesty international should better caution our president. The bad blood against Dansuki and Kanu is unjust.
Dasuki has not be declared criminal yet,he is still an accused until the contrary is proved: section 36(5) if CFRN 1999. The implication is that Dasuki has all the fundamental rights including the right of FREE access to his lawyers any time. For Goodness sake DSS and the Government should obey the rule of law.

I don't really agree with your last statement.

Situations can make people do something drastic.

Let's look at this scenario for eg,

A wife and her husband have a kid who is critically ill and hospital wouldn't commence treatment unless a deposit is made.

husband and wife runs around for money, yet. no help.
( let's say husband have no job and poor)

Wife now runs to a rich neighbor for assistance, and he asks to sleep with her before rendering assistance.

Believe me, it will take a strong woman not to give in to save her child.

But, if she gives in for her child, will you say she has been planning it?
this excuse is not cogent and compelling enough
