Hi everyone, Thanks to the excellent work that’s been done here and the valuable support offered by different people on this thread. I want to seek advice about my uncle’s plan visit the UK with his family this year. He’s self employed and has two businesses generating profit in the country. His first company currently employs about 20 people and operates across West Africa. The second one has about 3 full time employees. He plans to visit the UK with his wife and two kids later this Christmas period. Wife is employed and kids are enrolled in school here in Naija. He intend to use me and my family as the family he wants to visit in UK. I want to ask what type of documents will suffice for him and his family. Can he use evidence of income generated from business account as proof of funds or it will have to be from his personal accounts? Will I also need to show pictures of us together even though I’m not adding anything to their trip? He also has properties which can be used as ties to home country. I’d appreciate responses to this. Thank you so much. |
Hello Everyone, Really appreciate the valuable information and support offered by everyone on this platform. My mum got her visit visa approved (initially refused) after 3-4 months of PAP to the home office. The date indicated for her travel in the application has already passed and she now has a new validity period. I want to ask if it’s possible to book a return trip for say 4 & half months within the 6 months period so far it’s still within the validity period. This trip is going to be fully sponsored. I’m only worried of the type of questions they’ll be asking her at the border because it’s her first time. Also, from those with previous experiences, what other documents should she have with her? Thanks |

Good evening everyone, I really appreciate the responses on the last message I shared here. They were helpful. I shared that my mum has been refused 4 times all due to financial circumstances issue and I also shared her last refusal mail. I appreciate comments here; most of them noting the need to wait and reapply after at least 6 months. I am writing this to seek advice further. Is it advisable to apply for a visit visa for her and my dad after some months with my dad retirement certificate, house paper and car papers as ties home without having to share her statement of account anymore? In this situation, she will be a dependent travelling with him. Note that the whole trip will be sponsored by myself and my partner. I’ll appreciate your feedbacks. Thank you. |
Thank you so much for the kind advice. What do you mean by ‘good’ documentation in this context? Also, I’ve noted the comments her and won’t be making any applications for now. However, my wife’s birthday and graduation is on July 14 and 16. Would that be a good time (3 and half months away) again? On the account, the plan is to use a fresh one built over the next 3 months for her even tho she’s not spending her own money. Thanks. giselle237: |
Alright. Thank you! LadyCaplin: |
Thank you for your reply. We were actually contemplating on not adding it before since we’ve stated she’s unemployed and she won’t be contributing anything significantly to the trip. I didn’t know that would raise concerns about her financial circumstances. Also, documents like house ownership and consent letter from husband were used as evidence of ties to home. However, I’ll be glad to hear suggestions on the whether a 2 months statement with just about 130k as closing balance and regular credits from family will be sufficient. giselle237: |
Thanks for your comment. The bank statement is not low. In fact, the statement showed that she has 1.3m as closing balance and she had a total of 170k as credit from her sons during the one month period. She only intend to spend 50k My fear was that the ECO dwelled on the previous refusal despite saying this new one is reviewed based on it own merit. Now, I am not sure what do. Is it advisable to apply as soon as possible. Note: she’s had 3 refusal based on different reasons which are corrected in subsequent application. lionlee216: |
Hello everyone, I recently applied for a visit visa for my mum and I just got this refusal mail. I still don’t understand the reason very well and I will appreciate thoughts and views from here.

Hi all, Please I need kind advice on the visit visa application my mum. I have filled everything about trip and I have also noted I will sponsor her trip with 2500 GPB. In the section about her trip, I put 20k NGN as the money she will spend as she’s unemployed. I want to ask if it’s important to submit her statement of account or just leave it out cos she took about 135k out last month and might raise concerns. Note: her previous application was rejected due to the statement issue not having any credit during the period we used. Thanks. |
As students across the country continue to prepare for school resumption following the lockdown enforced by the COVID-19 pandemic, a socio-political support group of the Oyo State government, Omituntun Initiative in the Diaspora (OID), has commenced the annual Seyi Makinde Essay Competition to empower youths. According to the organisers, the competition is aimed at empowering youths with socio-economic problem-solving skills. “The competition aims to create a platform for public policy discourse on the socio-economic concerns of Oyo State youths who comprise over 70 per cent of the state population (NBS, 2016). “In line with the vision of the state Governor, Seyi Makinde, youths would be equipped with necessary socio-economic and educational exposure and skills for their future career development. These future leaders will take the mantle of leadership and propel the state to the next phase of developmental revolution,” the organisers added. Participants would have the luxury of choosing one of the two themes for the competition, namely, ‘The role of youth in achieving good governance, leadership and development in Oyo state’, or ‘Digital grassroot innovation for sustainable agriculture in Oyo State’, a release by the organisation said. Speaking on the conditions for participation, OID spokesperson, Barrister Ayotomiwa Adebayo, said: “Entrants must be either an indigene of Oyo or reside in the state; they must be tertiary students, they must be between ages of 15 and 30; the maximum word count is 1000 words, font size of 12 and line spacing of 1.5. There is 20 per cent plagiarism percentage limit and deadline for submission is November 15, 2020. “Also, the only language allowed is English and submissions must be made in Microsoft Word format alone. The topic should be addressed as it applies to the Oyo State situation and entries be made to admin@omituntunindiaspora.org “The best essay will be awarded a sum of N150,000, the second best a sum of N100,000 and the third best a sum of N50,000.
