Amah70: Whoever dragged you in Edo into an imaginary Igbo country?
Lol! It really baffles me how someone with an alien language to the Anioma will still rush to claim kinship with them. There are Edoid groups in Degema, Yenagoa etc with similar language as his people yet you won’t see them claim relationship with those group. In due time, the Benin’s will tell us what they buried in Anioma that they are yet to collect. Classic case of landgrabbing at its finest.
BeijinDossier: Stop saying what you don't know. Awka is related to Onitsha in dialect, never Oji River or any part of Enugu state. In Awka and Onitsha dialect you will find similar words like "ife", "isi, etc, something people of Oji don't speak . My problem with some of you people is that you guys always wanna tell Anambra people their hstory and origin, which you don't know.
But this video proves otherwise? Onitsha dialect is similar to what is spoken in Asaba. Awka dialect is similar to what is spoken in Oji River. An Awka man cannot run from his neigbour in Oji river to form kinship with a man in far away Onitsha.
IDENNAA: You keep throwing this insecurity around. Madam , give me a reason why an Anambra man should feel insecure ?
Anambra man again. Lol! Did you see me use the term Imo man to describe myself? I use Orlu because its more unique to me geographically than the nebulous word Imo man. And when you come to Orlu zone, I’ll tell you that I’m an Umuaka man with Isu heritage. Luckily our ancestors kept our oral history intact.
Juicegal: Which dialect in Anambra are you talking about here. To the best of my knowledge there are many igbo dialects and sub dialects in Anambra. Is it Awka, or Ogbaru, or Oru or Onicha etc
Those with inferiority complex always hide behind the nebulous word Anambra to hide their insecurity. I’m yet to hear people use the word Imo man, Enugu man, Delta man, Rivers man etc to propagate inferiority complex.
ariesbull: It is not about what part of Anambra... The truth is that in igbo land Anambra is the first person and state in terms of busineess, education, development, commerce and culture
The dialect is the best ... Even other states of Igbo accept this ... So you can argue
Inferiority complex on the loose again. Lol! Elevating yourself due to insecurity. So what is the fears. Learn to limit this inferiority to your clans. Words like Anambra and Imo are nebulous and foreign to us.
IDENNAA: I dont subscribe to the first born claims but Anambra has rich culture which is very elegant and boisterous on its own. If you understand the nze na ozor institution and the way it elevates the initiate to a noble status , the Anambra man's expectation to join the society and elevate himself then you will understand our thought process. We practice a well painstakingly developed noble culture.
However, the hate towards ndi Anambra started with the marriage thing. In the 70's and , 80's and 90's we were not encouraged to marry from Imo and Ndi Imo hated Anambra for that.
This is what we are saying. Inferiority complex! You abrogated first to yourself. And then abrogated the origin of Nze na Ozo an ancient Igbo culture to yourself. You still went ahead to abrogate Igbo heritage to Nri of yesterday. Now we are hearing how special you are when it comes to marriage.
I don’t know who brought this attitude to Igboland. Neither the Isu, Awka, Nnewi, Aro, Oru, Mbaise, Ngwa, Ikwerre have such tendencies. Something tell me it started with the Onitsha man and today there are at the receiving end.
nocomment1: Well I am not Igbo, I am Edo and I was on a thread of my Anioma people and our Oba when some of your hoodlooms came to say rubbish. Also right here, I responded to some of you who keep dragging us along into your imaginary Igbo country. Talk about your south-eastern people and let us be
This thread is not for perennial landgrabbers. Please stay clear.
Juicegal: v it helps especially when you do business that takes you deep into villages. You easily blend in. I have mastered most central Anambra , Owerri and Mbaise dialects too. Ngwa and Abia dialects are my next target. Very difficult i must say.
Juicegal: Thanks brother. I grew up in the north though, Kano precisely but i spend 50% of my time in the East and travel around like kilode.
I’m really impressed with how you understand the language. I too didn’t grow up in the village. I’m a lagos born and brought up but can speak my dialect even in the dream.
IDENNAA: I am not insecured because I am from Umuoji , Idenmili with very rich and elegant culture. Ours neighbors are Obosi , Oba ,Ogidi , Ojoto , Uke and Nkpor and we have an enviable culture like our Anambra brothers. We are just proud and defend our priceless culture with every strength. If wanting the best for Anambra makes me a "bigot" then so be it , after all you ndi Imo despise us and that ok by me because I dont care how you feel.
You created a thread with a misleading title , made nonfactual statements and I tried to correct you but you ignored it.
You lots have continued to attack ndi Anambra on facebook just because of their love for their culture/language. The moment a person says they love Anambra dialects you attack them and tell them to shut up. Show some pride and leave us the hell alone. Did you see an Anambra man says he isnt Igbo ? Yet , you lot keep attacking just for saying we love our home land and culture. Its sickening !
Read up your post and you’ll see the insecurity written all over it. Why will you jump to derail a thread when you don’t know the content of it. You may not have started it, but the insecure ones from your place almost made a mess of it from the word go. The attitude you displayed from your onslaught was why the likes of Ikengawo showed his own bad side. And I was deeply disappointed with him.
The phrase “Soul of Igbo nation” is correct. Those before you were not wrong to call the area where the Isu, Oru and Orsu inhabited by such name. The location of Orlu in the heart of Igboland and its reputation as the last place to surrender during the war is appropriate. Even if a 2nd war is fought tomorrow, Orlu will still remain the last vestige to bow to foreign occupation. Right from antiquity when Benin, Igala were encroaching Igbo territories, Orlu despite closer to the River Niger where the Jukun-Igala navy ran riot and where the Benin migrants spread their tentacle was unaffected. Why did you think Orlu was unaffected? One, its large swat of forest, two its population, three its bravery, and four the River Niger to which the Oru’s navigated up to the mouth of the atlantic.
IDENNAA: You are wrong, they have related dialect but I can tell when and Ihiala or Uli person speaks. There is a clear difference is dialects in that area. But , the similarity is expected because that area is where Anambra and Imo dialects meet.
Juicegal: Big difference Example: in saying " That is not it"
The Umuaka and other isu dialect speakers will say -" Owuduyii, Owuduya," etc"
Amifieke, Okporo ,Ihioma down to Ihiala Uli(Oru dialects) will say " Ooowuoya"
2. Where are you coming from: Umuaka/ Isu - " Ele ebe ishi abiaga", "Ebe kishi"
Oru dialects will say - "belee ki si", some will say "bolee ki si"
3. Not me Umuaka/ Isu: "Owudumu", some will say "Ondumu" and some will say" Ogbudumu"
Oru: "Oowomu"
E plenty.
You answered the others guys question properly. You seem to understand the difference. Looking at the way you interpreted it, you deserve all the credit. Because from the last time I checked, that’s how the Oru speak theirs, which is slightly different from that spoken in the core Isu. Did you by chance grew up in the villa?
A welcome development. Congratulations to Ambassador George Obiozor. May your reign witness the emergence of a Nigerian President of Igbo extraction that will raise this country to the path of progress, unity and peace.
Orumba South dialects spoken in Umunze, Owelle-ezukala, Ihie, Nkerehi(Now Umuchukwu), Ogbunka, etc. Is exactly same as that spoken in Isuochi and Eziama(Nneato) which is in Umunneochi LGA of Abia state. And both areas are contiguous geographically and are culturally same people.
Their language is quite different from what is spoken in places like Ekwulobia, Oko and their likes in Aguata.
Yes they were in old Aguata LGA of old Anambra together with Aguata and Orumba North folks, but they are culturally and language wise more related to groups in Umunneochi LGA of Abia state than to those in Aguata LGA.
Bialegend: Their dialects are quite noticeably different. Let's keep this education neat. We are educating ourselves and not outsiders. Let's not bring nigerian mentality of dishonesty here. In the end, Uli dialect has "Fa" unlike Umuaka that has "Ha"
Uli has “Fa”! Lol! Where in Uli, let alone Ihiala have you been to?
Bialegend: Now, this is another HONEST submission, unlike the guy called Emlproperties that is writing here with his nigerian mentality of lies and dishonesty. Biafra will cure him very soon. We all are learning here about ourselves (dialects) and the education should be kept clean and sincere. As you said, we all are still Ndi Igbo in the end..
I will not join you in derailing this thread because that has been the intention of your likes from the first page.
Bialegend: Ol'boy, there is nothing like Orlu town. No single place is known as or called Orlu town. What you have or get is different towns in different areas of the place called Orlu. The zone called Orlu doesn't have one single place that is referred to as it's town/city, similar to Aba, Owerri, or Onitsha. If yes, then tell us where this town/city is. Stop misinforming people here, and moreover, stop posting these dilapidated roads and buildings that are more of glorified shanty/dusty places. When Biafra is restored, we shall build what is called towns and cities. For now, it will be difficult to build anything that resembles a city under "one nigeria" nonsense.
I’ve heard you IPOB champion. Destroy your own community but leave our own the way it is. The pictures in this page is just an handful of the developments in Orlu villages and towns. Most of the pictures here were gotten from the Imo page. Many of us know how developed our communities are, but due to many limitations we hardly have the time to get aeriel views and good pictures about the true situation on ground.
You IPOB miscreants should open your own threads and post developments in your own areas or continue to wait until Biafra comes.
Bialegend: [s]Stop posting this eyesore you call city. You should be ashamed of these photos. When Biafra is restored, all these useless structures will be torn down and structures that mankind will marvel at constructed[/s].
Bialegend: This dialect is spoken in the axis of Nkwerre, Isu, Njaba, Amiri, Umuaka, e.t.c and is quite different from what is spoken in Ihiala, Ihioma, Awo idemiri e.t.c, yet all are lumped together as Orlu.
You are wrong. It’s the same thing. What she spoke there is the tongue in Uli, Amorka and other parts of Ihiala. Maybe the spelling got you confused. It’s even the same dialect someone from Uga, Umunze in Aguata speaks. Got to the above villages and you’ll understand clearly.
Amah70: Nigeria’s brutal Civil War ended when the war was about to enter into Orlu senatorial zone.
It’s apt to classify Orlu zone as the soul of Igbo nation because it was in Orlu zone where all surviving Igbos clustered last days of the civil war
Exactly. Ndi-Imo achieved much exploit by recapturing Owerri despite the low morale. Even with the low-morale and starvation we saw the exploits of the Oguta boy who halted the federal forces from attacking Ojukwu’s last base. However, most account written about the civil war talked about the area called Orlu zone. Achebe talked about how he lived in Umundugba towards the end of the war. Much of the foodstuffs the Biafran populace survived with was gotten from Orlu zone. Lastly, Orlu suffered much rains of aeriel bombardment and onslaught from every corner as it was the last forte where Ojukwu still had control over. To the glory of God, we didn’t allow the Nigerian army have Ojukwu’s head on a platter. That would have been a disgraceful end to the war.
pazienza: Ikengawo, you are pure disgrace to Igboland.
With misguided parochial folks like you,Ndiigbo don't need external enemies, you and your ilks are big enough to destroy us.
I can't believe I use to think you are a brilliant man.
I’m surprised as well. I used to see Idenna, Chino, and Nripriest as unsecured bigots, but never knew Ikengawo would be this clownish. Well, the thread continues despite the initial onslaught of the derailers.
Juicegal: Ledaa ndi ojoo. Aguduma ata unu ria ria. Unu amadu suu Orlu wu eze. Anda gbaha ya agbaha. EML nwannemu jishike.. Igudu atata kaa mmiri Njaba. Iseee!!!
