myfuture: The birth year on my WAEC certificate does not tally with the one on my passport but the thing is I have been given admission by a well respected university. When I applied for admission,I submitted the WAEC certificate with the error.I am wondering whether that might still cause problem for me during registration when I arrive in the UK.

Go with your birth cert or better still, get an attestation of birth from NPC..coupled with a court affidavit stating the error made by WAEC if you like..which is what I did for my own case...just checking all the boxes..

Diamond bank surely will offer you good service, reliability and all but please bear in mind that the diamond bank in the UK is INDEPENDENT of the one in Nigeria even though it's the same owners. The implication of this is that you CANNOT work into Diamond bank Uk and try to ACCESS your diamond bank Nigeria. ITS NOT POSSIBLE!

Here is what you can do. Open an account with Diamond bank Nigeria collect their Diamond INTERNATIONAL VISA DEBIT CARD.( it's just 1050 naira) you can use this card to withdrawal from any VISA powered ATM any where in the world. It would pay you in that country's local currency.

Also note that if you collect this ATM card, you must activate it(that is change your PIN) at the local Diamond bank machine here in Nigeria before you travel. In essence ensure the card is working and all documentations on the account are complete before you travel.

The advantage of this is that someone can even pay as little as 5k in nija for you, and you can easy withdrawal it in pounds in the UK.

Aii....Thanks for the heads up.. Is there any requirement I must fulfill before I can walk into either diamond or first bank in London and request that my funds be transferred to my UK account instead of withdrawing and depositing in cash?

That question is relative to an individual, the branch he visits and the service rep he meets. Firstbank also has a branch in the uk

Sure..but I'm talking of some general stuffs here...take for example, I'm pretty sure it ain't just me that gets frustrated at any FirstBank branch on a Monday (Network Issue), series of little unclear charges on my account and also if diamond exchange rates values are lesser for the most part of certain periods..

Emmagency: Hello all, please I'm planning on opening a diamond bank account as I'm getting tired of those yeye first bank guys...considering the fact that diamond also has a branch in London does anyone have an idea how they compare to FB in terms of quality of service, flexibility and reliability..?

Hello...anyone with an idea on this?

royal34: Can i be refused visa because i have not made payment towards my accomodation? is it compulsory to make payment towards accomodation?

Chances are you'll be refused should you be asked and you don't provide a suitable answer of how you plan to get an accommodation before or after you travel..It's not compulsory you secure one first before your visa application..but from your question, I take it that you've already secured one...so there's no need to make payment before your application.. I didn't, and still haven't and I got mine..

HudsonBanks: Here is the official guideline on documents to be submitted with your application https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/332185/pbs-tier-4.pdf

Also note the line I highlighted in the picture below. I wonder why this folks at the visa office still ask for those forms since our application is done online, I'm sure just an avenue to extort unsuspecting applicants sad

@Emmagency Please did you submit the VAF9 form + Appendix 8 ?

Just the hand-filled self assessment form (Appendix 8..)

If you get arik one way, you'll never board that flight until you show a return ticket out of uk.
Also, but seldomly asked, you may be required to show proof of return ticket at point of entry in the uk. Can't stress enough that this is seldomly asked to students studying for more than 6 months.

Yeepa! and what happens if it happens that someone gets asked for it and you cannot provide it?

spikesC: I wish to travel this week and the cheapest airline i got is Emirates.

A return ticket is good if you intend coming back within 1 year. That is basically it.
If not, just book one-way.

Oga spike, you aren't wasting time at all ooh.. have you picked up your package yet? picking mine up tomorrow.. (only thing holding me back till September is accommodation tho..)

I'm heading to London (Heathrow) this September... Have done a little search on flight tho...but appears most of them involves either a transit in Dubai or Spain.. (still checking)

Can anyone travelling this period provide the best bet airline they've discovered so far? (to save a brother a lot of time as I don't feel comfortable doing this at work *prying eyes* and I always return late)

And secondly, can someone give me few reasons I should get a 2 way ticket (which of course, return ticket date can be changed when the time is near) as I still don't fully get it..and please don't add 'because it's cheaper' to the list..(I mean, how much difference in terms of naira can be there?)

Thanks

Miada: Hello, I am waiting to do my TB test can I still fill my form and book an appointment date for the interview or do I have to collect the results before applying? Please help

You can actually book your interview for the day you're collecting your result but it's always advisable to get your result in hand first before you even make your application in the event of any unexpected medical jargon...

GVA: Constance!!!!. Fear God ohhh!!!!
Kindly tell me where you saw Worry359 tell me how i should go about the issue? Cant you see he was more interested in telling me that i am at fault rather than offer assistance. He even had to type it in bold.

Read his post again... The first word is 'Important,' the sequel lines were the important things you need to know if asked about the error..

worry359: GVA:
Important!
Don't try to blame someone else!
Just say that you made a mistake.
The visa officer will only accept that you are responsible for anything on the form.

ruksy: Message of Hope or .... I dunno what to make of this. Thanks though for providing an answer to my question. My worry is increasing. I intend going back to the VAC tomorrow even though I just got a message that my package has been discharged for review by the ECO.

Since your application has been dispatched for processing, then you'll have to wait to be contacted...because it's going to be extremely difficult to enter the building without an appointment with printed copies of the appointment. Not to talk of an interview that isn't scheduled..

ruksy: Hello spikesC, you have been very helpful and I appreciate the effort. I made photocopies of the documents but they were all taken from me eventually.
I have one other question though, I finished yhe process and submission by past 3pm and no interview was conducted. I asked like 3 different staff and after being so nasty, I couldn't even get a definitive answer from them. I was told that interview doesn't happen once it is past 2pm and then I asked what then happens to which I got three different answers...
1) if it is after 2pm, no need for an applicant to be interviewed, the documents supported is what will be used for accessment.
2) The interview will take place tomorrow
3) I will be called on the phone as regards the interview.

The issue I am having now is that I am not based in Lagos and I am to leave town tomorrow morning.

I have absolutely no idea what to do right now.

Any suggestions? *confused*

I know of someone who didn't had his own interview done also because of time constraint. He was told that if they needed any other information, he'll be contacted. Can't say if he was called back to sit for it or not as I didn't collect his contact line.

In my own case, although I had an interview session, i received a call from the British High Commission some days later asking if i had an interview session which I confirmed but unfortunately, the call got disrupted after that and they never called back.. I have since been issued my visa..
