How Asari Dokubo solved the mystery of Unknown Gunmen POSTED ON JUN 28, 2023| By The Renaissance UNDER former President Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria’s Southeast region, the most peaceful at a time, suddenly exploded in a wave of inexplicable violence. Prisons, police stations, court houses electoral commission offices and random public establishments were attacked by armed gangs and razed. Individuals were kidnapped, hacked to death or gunned down in broad daylight by hooded men who escaped without trace. Dr. Chike Akunyili, husband of Late Prof Dora Akunyili, one-time Minister of Information and DG of NAFDAC, was gruesomely murdered by these men in an attack which had no obvious aim other than to instill public fear. Many went missing and were never found. Gloom descended on the peoples of five states best known for their industry and enterprise. For years, not a single one of those crimes was solved. Not a single culprit was successfully apprehended and prosecuted by law enforcement operatives. Officially, fingers were promptly pointed at IPOB, the Biafra separatist organization, for every incident – sometimes even before investigations formally opened. IPOB vehemently denied these accusations. But government propaganda was too strong. Many soon believed the government and joined to demonize IPOB for mindlessly turning the region into a war front. Gradually though, everyone began to realize that there was something fishy in the official position. Federal and state authorities had all the means to nab the gangsters, but preferred to issue increasingly sterile press statements instead. It soon became clear that the armed forces, police and other official security agencies were either in cahoots with the criminals or consciously turning a blind eye to their activities. In villages across the Southeast and North Central regions, locals began to notice that whenever the Army and Police showed up for patrols, Unknown Gunmen or armed “herdsmen” followed shortly afterwards. It was as if the patrols were surveillance missions for the bad guys. So, villagers took the hint and scampered for safety whenever those who were supposed to protect them reported for duty. It was even law enforcement officials who coined the moniker, “Unknown Gunmen”(UGM) to describe criminal elements they were paid to hunt down. People with experience in security matters soon concluded that Nigeria was dealing with “false flag operations” – crimes deliberately committed (in this instance by secret agents of the state) to incriminate an innocent party in order to achieve some dark political objectives. The problem was: There was no concrete evidence or proof to show the world. Those who were supposed to gather evidence were busy covering the tracks of the criminals. Well, that mystery lasted until Asari Dokubo, the voluptuous and loquacious Niger Delta warlord, visited the Presidential Villa in Abuja as a guest of the new Nigerian leader, Bola Tinubu. It was only two weeks after the latter’s inauguration. At the end of his visit, Dokubo addressed a press conference from one of the chambers of the villa, a rare privilege accorded only to close allies of an administration. Unable to control his impulses whenever in front of cameras and microphones, Asari said several things which have since become subjects of controversy. One of the few which almost evaded public scrutiny holds the key to the mystery of the Unknown Gunmen. He said he was “in charge of security in six states of the federation” and his boys were responsible for some of the successes in the security situation of the country for which the Armed forces often get credit. To add color to this sketchy claim, he recounted an actual operational experience in these words: “… my men and I discovered a camp in Imo with hundreds of vehicles. Where are the owners? If you want me to show you pictures, I will show you. We discovered their camp, kicked their asses, and sent them to where they belong.” For the avoidance of doubt, Dokubo boasted: “I am a participant in this war, I fight on the side of the government of the Nigerian state; in Plateau, in Niger, in Anambra, in Imo, in Abia and in Rivers state and in Abuja. Today you’re traveling to Kaduna on this road, it’s not the army that makes it possible for you to travel to Abuja, or travel to Kaduna, vice versa. It is my men, employed by the government of the Nigerian state, stationed in Niger.” In those words, Asari Dokubo blew his own cover. He owned up to working in an undercover capacity or as a non-state actor in a sector which belongs exclusively to the Federal Government. He owned up to extra-judicial killings. He mentioned specific theaters of operation – Imo State and the Abuja-Kaduna highway. He named those who hired and paid him – “the government of the Nigerian state.” It was like a painter framing his own masterpiece. Three of those states named by Asari Dokubo (Anambra, Imo & Abia) are in the Southeast. Two others and the Federal Capital Territory (Niger, Plateau and Abuja) are in the Middle Belt. Another state (Rivers) is in the South-South. All named territories have one thing in common in the last few years – random, unsolved killings and attacks on members of the opposition, rural farming communities and government facilities. Anambra, Imo and Abia were the epicenter of unknown gunmen activities in the period leading up to the last elections. Niger and Plateau were the main theaters of operation for the so-called “Fulani herdsmen.” Kuje Prison within the FCT was attacked and inmates set free. So, what exactly was Asari Dokubo’s “security brief” in a region (the Southeast) where Army and Police checkpoints adorn nearly every hundred meters of highway? What was he doing in a state (Imo) where a special military task force was assigned to “crush” separatist agitations? What was he paid to do for a country that boasts of about a dozen security agencies with hefty yearly federal appropriations? More still, what “contract” is Asari desperately lobbying to retain with the new administration of President Bola Tinubu for which reason he broke all protocols of civility to support the Tinubu candidacy and gain his attention before and during the last elections? Why has he been so vociferous with his anti-Igbo rhetoric in courting the Tinubu camp – knowing that Igbophobia is one of the favorite weapons of the APC in its struggle to retain power after the failed Buhari years? If you read between the lines and fill in the blank spaces, all the fingers point in one direction – Asari Dokubo is the man behind the mask of Unknown Gunmen. He was recruited and paid by the Buhari Administration, working closely with the Imo State Governor (Hope Uzodimma), to help deal with the threat of Biafra in Southeast Nigeria by unconventional means. Asari Dokubo in turn recruited, coordinated and paid the men who carried out all those killings and criminal activities to blackmail IPOB and ESN. Plus at least some of the mysterious attacks on villagers and facilities in the Middle Belt region. That’s what he meant when he boldly said, “I am a participant in this war.” The trouble with people who talk too much is that they ultimately talk themselves into trouble. Asari Dokubo has now talked himself into deep trouble – beyond being broke. Not only has he antagonized the armed forces which he was recruited to “help”, he has also given away the identity of the evil masquerade terrorizing the neighborhood. In trying so hard to corner the next “security contract” after squandering what he was earlier paid for hatchet jobs under President Buhari, Melford Asari Dokubo Goodhead has given away his own secret position. He is like a drunken and unprofessional sniper who uses his weapon indiscriminately. His enemies can see clearly where the deadly shots are coming from. His position in the bushes is no longer a mystery. The sniper himself is now a sitting duck. It’s only a matter of time before he too is sniped. That’s the way the cooky crumbles. – Culled from therenaissance.

That is just the truth. You took him to curt twice and he won you even with your rigged judges, he won you twice. Infact second time in court you had to kidnap him and take him to your rigged court and he won you in court. The court has discharged and acquitted him, why still keep him in prison. Release MNK now, it is not by force to be a Nigerian and calling for referendum is not a crime.

To be a Nigerian is not by force. Referendum is not a crime forcing people who have nothing in common to live together, is a complete disaster. The fake love in Nigeria won't take you all anywhere...you will keep running in circles.

British government which did not want to ask Nigerian to obey court rulings that asked that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu (their citizen) be released and compensated is now partnering with Ohaneze to develop Igbo land. We are not fools. We are not stupid. You helped Nigeria to decimate Igbo land. You supported genocide against ndi Igbo. You aided the Fulani in their marginalization of Igbo land. You kept mute about why Fulani herdsmen terrorists are killing people in Igbo land. But suddenly you want to help develop our land. You want to activate greedy old men masquerading as Ohaneze to fight the aspirations of the youths. We won't accept that. Biafra and the decisions to be made about the future of Biafra fall on us the youths. In 1967 people in the age bracket of members of Ohaneze of today made decisions as youths and today it is our turn. And we won't let those about to pass away ruin the future of Biafra with a Greek gift from the British government. It won't happen. Britain will be wasting their money. If they want let them build entire Biafra land. If they want let them open a visa channel for every family in Biafra land. We just don't care. We have made our decision and that is final. We will vacate Nigeria. It doesn't matter if Britain likes it or not. Nobody stopped Britain when it left the EU. Let them stop seeing Biafrans as slaves. This is not a colonial era when they claimed to be colonial masters. Biafrans are free men and will walk out of Nigeria as free men. Elochukwu Ohagi The Philosopher, 2023.

My Take On the Greek Gift Offered To Ohaneze They know that an average black man will rather think of himself instead of his people. The reason Britain will always throw in carrots is so that some will pick it and stand against the aspirations of their people. Britain did not go directly to South East Governors. They went to Ohaneze. Suddenly they want to partner with Ohaneze to develop Igbo land. Suddenly Britain want Igbo land developed. This is an opportunity for some people in Ohaneze to make money. Britain knows that an average black man thinks of what will go into his pocket. This is the type of mentality IPOB want to kill. That's the reason IPOB members have used their money, time, and intellect to pursue the restoration of Biafra. This is why IPOB members are in prison and many paid the ultimate prize. This is the reason Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is in the DSS dungeon and refused to back down. Britain knows that the type of spirit and mindset IPOB is creating will end British manipulation against our people. That's why they are bent on trying to destroy IPOB. This was why they helped Nigeria to commit a crime of extraordinary rendition against Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. This is why the Nigerian government has held MNK for more than 2 years with Britain doing nothing. Even when MNK is their citizen. Don't forget that Britain used the infiltrators vs the governors and failed. Now they have turned to Ohaneze. The truth is that I don't see Ohaneze as anything. I see them as a gathering of retired corrupt politicians who has zero interest in our people at heart. Biafrans must stand against the new-found British love for Biafrans. If Britain truly wants the good of Ndi Igbo, they should release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. Britain must understand that we have all it takes to develop our land. We don't need a British government partnering with Ohaneze before we can develop Igbo land. Nigeria has been the stumbling block behind the underdevelopment of Igbo land. And Nigeria is a British creation. With wicked policies, they have kept Ndi Igbo down. All ndi Igbo needs to create a super nation is to leave Nigeria and form the Republic Of Biafra. Britain knew this reason they are against Biafra, IPOB and Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. Let Britain understand that IPOB has come to eradicate the selfishness of the blåckman and help them embrace patriotism. They should know that as it stands in Igbo land we only listen to IPOB and not Ohaneze. We have requested a referendum. Same thing Scotland requested and got. No one killed them or extraordinarily renditioned Scottish leaders just to stop them. No one said a call for referendum is a call for war. They consented to the wish of the people. Africa is indigenous to Africans Biafra is our inheritance and no one can stop the restoration of Biafra. We will stop at nothing until we restore Biafra. Elochukwu Ohagi The Philosopher, 2023.

FOR HOW LONG? If you really understand the mess into which majority of the tribes/ nations that are locked up into Nigeria find themselves, and the difficulties they have in creating a better future for themselves and generations to come, then you cannot but appreciate Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. It is sad that many of us have been deceived into believing that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and the IPOB are terrorists. They can only deceive you not me. Before ever Mazi Nnamdi Kanu came on board, as a historian concerned with African history, I understood the mess into which we find ourselves and the difficulties in liberating ourselves from the hands of our internal and external oppressors. I felt so bad that majority of our people seemed unaware of this or uninterested. There was hardly anyone I discussed with about it that seemed to have cared until the day I heard the voice of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. On that day, I said: "This is the man that is seeing what I am seeing and that is as worried as I am". The difference between us is that he had a concrete plan. His one and only request was a referendum. As a historian, I knew immediately that the world will come after him. They came after the first African president who shared the same sentiments and courage with Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. His name is Patrice Emery Lumumba of Congo. They world watched as he was kidnapped, tortured, killed, and his body dissolved in acid except for a golden tooth that was taken by Belgians as a trophy until recently. They came after Thomas Sankara of Burkina Faso. They came after Muammar al-Gaddafi of Libya. Martin Luther King Jr was not spared. During colonialism all African opinion leaders who stood on their way were mercilessly eliminated. Do you know how many Western countries that will go poor if Biafra comes or if the colonial map of Africa is redrawn? Do you know the quantity of our resources that are stolen on daily basis by international and local firms/ persons? Have you wondered the silence of the world at the abduction of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu? Do you think they are not following the trials? The same way they used hoodlums in discrediting the EndSars peaceful protesters is the same way they used criminals to tell the world that IPOB is a terrorist group. Watch out, if the OBIdient movement continues the way it is going, their treatment will not be different. To take back the control of our lives, we must all be awake at this time. Darkness has no power except that given to it by the light that refuses to shine. Besides, we are in the majority. We cannot continue to be slaves in a free world. We cannot run away from our ancestral lands. Ohamadike, our prayers are with you. Fr. Angelo Chidi Unegbu

Many criticized mazi Nnamdi Kanu when he labelled Nigeria a zoo. I think we need to apologize to animals living in a zoo for comparing them with a country that conducted the 25th February presidential election. Animals living in a zoo can never do such. I have been severally to zoos in Europe so I know what I am saying. We need to apologize to Ohamdike for everything he has gone through and still going through just for calling a spade a spade. With what is happening today, he was even very polite with his words. Everything he said about Nigeria has happened. I mean everything. Yet, he was abducted because of those words. Ohamdike, my prayers are always with you. The world has seen the true colours of your abductors. Fr Angelo Chidi Unegbu

Mazi Nnamdi Kanu: the prophet who saw it all and said it all. Out of respect he called Nigeria a zoo. It is now clear that Nigeria is worse than a zoo. May God bless and protect you Ohamdike. We know you are being unjustly incarcerated. Heavens know it. Your abductors and their international collaborators know it. We love you nwa chineke. Fada Angelo Chidi Unegbu

Ogalla is an Igbo name.... ancient Igbo name. Full name is Ogallanya... meaning big man or wealthy /influential person. shortened form is Ogalla. hope u got it now e.g Ike is Ikechukwu in full Nwike or Wike (Rivers state governor) in short for Nwaikechukwu or Wikechukwu. Chidiebere in short form is Chidi. some igbos makes use of the short form of their name as though it's their official name. E.g Obi in full is Obinna. a good example on this is Peter Obi, i.e Peter Obinna Igbos were carved into kogi state and not the reverse. |

Many Igbo born between 1970s hardly know this and may never get to know. Please, share more to people in that age bracket. Read: “Chima: The Aro Native Doctor Eze Chima was an Aro native doctor. In pursuance of the role of the Aros in the Atlantic Slave Trade quoted…from Michael Crowder’s story of Nigeria, Chima left Arochukwu to Benin to set up as an agent of the Aro Long Juju, for the usual purpose of collecting slaves from Benin. Whenever, in the olden days, a native doctor travelled to a place, he by custom would, on arrival, report himself to the local chief or to the head of the society of native doctors of the land. He is either the guest of the head chief of the clan or puts up with head of the local society of native doctors. Accordingly, when Chima arrived Benin he reported himself to the Oba of Benin who accepted him as his guest. In time Chima settled down and set up practice as a native doctor and agent of Aro Oracle. He impressed the Oba of Benin so much with his magical art that he became very influential over the Oba. In consequence, the Oba installed Chima a chief in the palace of Benin. Thus the plain blunt and ordinary native doctor who left Arochukwu to establish an agency of the Long Juju, earned a chieftaincy title and became Chief Chima or Eze Chima. Having found his feet firm in Benin, Eze Chima sent for his brother Ekensu and other relatives from Arochukwu, and also set up an Aro settlement in Benin similar to those Aros had set up within the description of Michael Crowder, in other areas throughout former Eastern Nigeria. With the march of time, Chima’s practice in Benin expanded down to Niger Delta. Among the Urhobos and Itshekiris also the fame of the Aro Oracle spread and clients from those areas trooped to him to consult the Oracle. The greatest index of Chima’s influence on culture in Benin Kingdom is found in the fact that Benin people adopted the Igbo days of the week – Eke, Orie, Afo and Nkwo – on which Chima made one sacrifice or the other or observed his abstinences and spiritual disciplines, as names also of Benin week days. And till today the Binis have, as the Igbo, Eke, Orie, Afo, Nkwo – as names of their week days. According to Mr Wellington Igunbor a Benin historian, who on the mother side, belongs to one of Benin’s traditional chieftaincy families (Chief Gaius Obaseki’s family – Gaius Obaseki who was the Iyase or Prime Minister of Benin in 1947) – the settlement of Eze Chima in Old Benin was established in the area through which Siliku Street runs in the present-day Benin city. As Eze Chima’s influence increased so did population of his settlement expand. So influential was Eze Chima and so completely absorbed in the society was he and his clan that there was hardly a thing he and his people could not do on the basis of equality with Benin indigenes. How Chima left Benin: At the time Eze Chima lived in Benin, the mother of Oba of Benin was Asije. The Oba’s brother who also was the Oba’s War Lord was called Gbunwala. One day, Asije the mother of both the Oba and Gbunwala, the Benin War Lord went into a farm belonging to Eze Chima’s people and collected firewood. Eze Chima’s people then caught Asije the Oba’s mother, and beat her thoroughly for taking wood from their farm without permission. Back home, Asije reported to her children – the Oba of Benin and Gbunwala, the Benin War Lord, her bitter experience with Eze Chima’s people. Red with anger, Gbunwala, the Oba’s brother and War Lord, took some of his soldiers, went to Chima’s settlement, set upon Chima’s people – beat them thoroughly and killed some of them. From that day, Gbunwala began to harass Eze Chima and his people. In the circumstance, Eze Chima decided to quit Benin with his people and return to the East whence he came to rejoin his Igbo kith and kin – or, in the alternative to find new settlements for himself and his people in places far and safe beyond the reach of Oba of Benin. This story was told in Igbo Primer popularly known as “Azu Ndu”, approved by Government Education Department for infant classes of primary schools in the Igbo Provinces of then Eastern Nigeria, now Biafra, since the beginning of the 20th century. On their way out of Benin, some of the Eze Chima’s people settled at Agbo (Agbor), 44 miles away from Benin City which they considered far, and out of reach, molestations and influence of the Oba of Benin and his brother, Gbunwala. Others went beyond this distance and settled at Isele-Uku, Onicha-Olona, Onicha-Ugbo and Obio. When they reached the West bank of the Niger, some took a canoe and paddled down the River to Abo and settled. Led by Oreze, the eldest son of Eze Chima, the balance of Eze Chima clan crossed the River Niger to the eastern bank and settled among Oze people – the original inhabitants of what is today the big and prosperous commercial and education centre in Biafra – Onicha (Onitsha). On page 73 of his story of Nigeria, Mr Michael Crowder believed that the migration of Onicha (Onitsha) people – this is of Umu Eze Chima clans – from Benin took place in the 17th century. Benin-Igbo Exchange of Culture: Having lived for some years in Benin as one of the chiefs of the palace of the Oba of Benin, Eze Chima, the Aro agent of the Aro Oracle in Benin and his people had learnt Benin chieftaincy institutions and titles and so adapted the Benin system to the administrative structures and customs of the place where they settled among other West Niger Igbo and in Onicha (Onitsha) on the east bank. But as Eze Chima took away from Benin a copy of their chieftaincy institutions, so did he deposit in Benin, and the Binis adopted it, Igbo weekdays – Eke, Orie, Afo, Nkwo – which are vital in the determination of appropriate days for abstinences , spiritual religious cultures of the Igbo and Bini too. In other words, the West Niger Igbo borrowed from Benin in chieftaincy, traditions, just as the Binis borrowed from the Igbo in religious traditions—through the agency of Eze Chima.” End of quote! Gowon threatened Ojukwu with creating the COR state in the Eastern region if he does not drop the idea of Biafra. The COR state means: Calabar-Ogoja-Rivers state. When realized that Ojukwu was bent on on declaring Biafra, on 27th May just 3 days to the declaration of the Republic of Biafra (30th May 1967), Gowon created the Rivers and Cross River states out of the Eastern Region. To balance the equation he created 10 other states in Nigeria on same day. This is the origin of creation of states in Nigeria that has given us 36 of them today. It is all about stopping the coming of Biafra. Written by Rev Father Angelo Chidi Unegbu

Are Nigerians of the Eastern Region, western and middle belt region aware that a bill meant for the establishment of forest guards in all the state and controlled by the federal government, has been passed in the national assembly....just left for the speaker to take it up to Buhari for approval. They refused to establish state police because they know that state police would make the killings carried out by the Fulani terrorist to be totally stopped. Now they have gone for a forest guard (terrorist). These forest guards of mostly bokoharam, ISIS and Fulani terrorist herdsman would be sent to your villages without restrictions because they will be entering your village bushes and forest as workers of the government. This forest terrorist in disguise as forest guards is the new means the Fulani terrorist leaders wants to use in achieving their goals of encircling a village and killing people at will. We have Amotekun, Ebube Agu, many states sponsored local security networks but the federal government has failed to support these security networks and denies them the approval of good weapons to fight off Fulani terrorist that slaughters people like animals and go free. Nigerians must wise up and stop the forest guards approval and instead demand for state police if truly the country is practicing federalism. Each state must have the right to tackle insecurity with their own state police....If not for the fact that Nigeria governors are sleeping and very corrupt, state police would have been done by now.
