Delta State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Muhammed Hafiz Inuwa, has refuted claims that it’s personnel shot dead a protesting youth in The Polytechnic community of Ozoro in Isoko Local Government Area on Monday.

The Commissioner of Police stated that it was a bullet from one of the armed protesters that killed the said youth.

Ekiti State government on Sunday disclosed that the state has recorded nine new positive cases of Covid19 bringing the total confirmed cases in the state to 141.

According to the reports, 65 patients had been discharged from the isolation centers, while two deaths have recorded since the pandemic outbreak in the state. Also, the state disclosed that as of August 2, 2020, it has 74 active cases.

British-Ghanaian rapper, Solo 45 has been convicted for 24 years, for holding four women hostage and having sexual knowledge of them 21 times without their consent.

The rapper, Solo 45, whose real name is Andy Anokye, was sentenced after he was found guilty at Bristol Crown Court, of 30 charges relating to two years.

Barrister Olumide Akpata emerges winner of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) presidential election held on Thursday morning July 30, 2020. It is the first time in over three decades that the president of the NBA will be emerging from outside the ranks of senior advocates.

Akpata won the 2020 elections with 8075 votes, which are about 54.8 per cent of the vote cast ahead of the first runner-up, Babatunde Ajibade, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) who polled 3616 votes (24.1 per cent), while the second runner-up, Dele Adesina scored 3343 (22.2 per cent).

The Kogi State police command has arrested another woman identified as Khadija Dauda for allegedly pouring hot water on her 14-year old stepsister, Zainab Dauda.

The criminal and inhumane act was brought to the open by the state’s Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Fatima Kabir Buba.

The commissioner said the suspect carried out the wicked act after a misunderstanding with her step-sister.

In bitterness, the commissioner disclosed that the ministry would ensure they get justice for the 14-year old Zainab Dauda. She said;

The police in Bauchi on Thursday said it had commenced investigations to uncover the mother of an abandoned baby whose remains were  found in the suburbs of the metropolis.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, DSP Ahmed Wakili, told the  News Agency of Nigeria in Bauchi that the decomposing remains of the day-old baby girl were found in Gwalameji area of Bauchi

“An abandoned baby was found this morning at Gwallameji area and the community informed the Yelwa Divisional Police Station.

“Our men went there and took pictures and discovered that the baby had started decaying.

The Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) mourns the tragic death of Nigeria’s first female combat helicopter pilot, Flying Officer, Tolulope Arotile, who died as a result of head injuries she sustained from an accident in the Nigeria Air force Base, Kaduna on Tuesday.

The Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja, described late Arotile as a brilliant and promising officer.

Fayemi said that despite the short term in service before she was cut short by death, Arotile demonstrated impactful qualities.

He said the deceased had a high sense of loyalty, patriotism, commitment to serving the country, and maintaining peace and security in the State.

A 65-year-old woman, identified as Obiageli Ezeuboaja, and her house boy, Chikamso, 12, have suffocated to death after inhaling charcoal fumes in their home in Umuchiana village, Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State on Wednesday, July 15.

The spokesperson of the state police command, Haruna Mohammed, in a statement, announced their death.

Mohammed said the deceased had set the charcoal fire to warm up the room amid the cold weather.

He added that they, however, shut the windows and door, leaving no room for ventilation.

Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje on Wednesday announced a cabinet reshuffle involving three commissioners.

The Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Malam Abba Anwar, announced this on Wednesday in a statement in Kano.

According to the statement, the three commissioners were to be moved from one office to the other.

Shuffling the cabinet, the statement noted that Mahmud Dansantsi who heads the Ministry of Commerce will be moved to the Ministry of Housing and Transport, while Alhaji Musa Lawan, from Ministry of Housing and Transport to Ministry of Justice.

Anambra State police have arrested a 31-year-old man for allegedly raping a four-year-old girl.

The suspect, Mr Sunday Eyim was on Tuesday arrested in Amawbia, Awka South LGA, after neighbours reported that he had canal knowledge of a four-year-old girl.

This case of rape is reported to be the third rape case recorded in the state within the last three days, recalling how a 60-year-old man, was arrested in Nkwelle Ezunaka, near Onitsha for raping a nine-year-old girl, while another 28 year-old-man, Chinonso Ugochukwu was arrested in Uli, Ihiala LGA for raping a five-year-old girl.

A 71-year-old Ghanaian nanny, identified as Abena Yeboah who was caught on a CCTV camera hitting and torturing an infant under her care has been arrested by the United states police.

According to the viral video, the mother of the baby alleged that she gave the nanny a benefit of doubt not knowing that the baby was being tortured.

The Prosecutor’s Office said the nanny was arrested in Hackensack, and charged with one count of Title 9 child abuse which is liable to 18 months in prison.

A magistrate’s court in Kaduna State has directed a living faith deaconess, Mrs. Yemi Awolola, who was arrested for alleged child torture and abuse of her maid, be remanded in prison.

It was learned that the accused was arrested following a statement from the victim, 14-year-old maid, Princess Michael.

The story was however brought to the public by twitter user Savn Daniel who demanded that the alleged child abuser be arrested.

In reaction to this, Yemi Awolola was then arrested and arraigned and charged before the court.

The Nigerian Diaspora Commission awaits the arrival of the Third batch of Nigeria Nationals boarding from the London Gatwick Airport.

The commission announced this via its official twitter page. NIDCOM emphasized that the flight was initially scheduled to land yesterday July 13, but due to landing clearance issues, the flight was rescheduled.

A Nigerian senator, an author, Shehu Sani, has mocked the former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC).

Sani alleged on Twitter that the EFCC former chairman, Magu forgot that power is transient and comes with consequences.

In his tweet he recalled how some EFCC officials had arrested some university boys, forcing them to hold computers and IPads and snapping them mugshot photos which were posted on Social Media.

Shehu wrote, “The practice of targeting & picking young men from the UNN or University of Ibadan & forcing them to hold computers & IPads & “snapping them mugshots photos” and posting them in the Social Media, before even taking them to court by the agency must stop.

A Nigerian man identified on Twitter as Savn Daniel has cried out for justice for a 14-year-old girl identified as Princess Micheal whose vagina was allegedly burnt with a lighter by her madam, one Mrs. Yemi Awolola.

According to Daniel, the victim’s father had taken her to the house of Mrs. Yemi who is a deaconess at Living Faith Church, Barnawa, and lives in the Barnawa area of Kaduna State in June 2019.

It all started few months after Princess started staying with her, her father called to speak with his daughter and was told he could only speak with her in English, intentionally knowing that her dad could only communicate in his dialect.

However, the inhumane attitude didn’t stop until Mrs. Yemi allegedly burnt the girl’s vagina with a lighter, and she and her pastor had covered up the case.

The 32-year-old rapper, announced his result on the micro-blogging application, Twitter on Friday, July 10. AKA noted that he publicized the outcome of his result to awaken and caution people to be careful and know the virus is real
