Undergraduate, 47 Kids Rescued From Baby Factory In Osun Ekohotblog, September 7, 2020… An undergraduate and nothing less than 47 babies have been rescued from a baby factory in Ile-Ife, Osun State.

The state government has sealed the facility, identified as Oroyemi Elizabeth Covenant Home and Care Centre; which is said to have been operating under the guise of an orphanage. Women, Children, and Social Affairs Commissioner, Olubukola Olaboopo confirmed the report to newsmen over the weekend. Olaboopo said that the building was closed up after suspicious information suggesting illegal activities got to the government notice.

Leave Gay People Alone, God Created Them – Actress Ameze Imarhiagbe Ekohotblog, September 6, 2020…A Nollywood actress, Ameze Imarhiagbe, has defended members of the LGBTQ community in Nigeria, claiming they were all created by God and so should be left alone to live their lives.

Social Media Influencer Calls For Release Of Akuma Ekohotblog, September 6, 2020. A social media influencer, Mr Shola who created a parody account of former President, Mr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, has called for the release of one Akuma Solomon, a pharmacist who was arrested for allegedly making a social media post against President Muhammadu Buhari and his late Chief of Staff, Mr Abba Kyari. Akuma, a pharmacist intern with NAFDAC, was arrested in Abia state for tweeting that he will “pay a Russian sniper to eliminate Buhari and Kyari” in response to a Twitter post asking “if $1m hits your account, your next move?”. According to Shola, he met Akuma in detention in the Force Criminal Investigations Department, (FCIID), in Abuja.

Tyler Perry Becomes Latest Hollywood Billionaire- Forbes Veteran filmmaker Tyler Perry, 50, is officially a billionaire, joining ranks of Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg and George Lucas, according to Forbes.

According to the American business magazine, Perry has a networth of $1 billion and has earned more than $1.4 billion in pretax income since 2005.

Forbes also reported that filmmaker owns the entirety of his creative output, which includes more than 1,200 television episodes, 22 films, at least two dozen plays and a 330-acre studio lot in Atlanta.


The filmmaker told the magazine that he learnt the value of ownership at a young age. He said; “My father was a subcontractor, and he would get paid on Fridays and be so happy that he had made $800,” he recalled to Forbes. “But I would watch the man that owned the house sell it and make $80,000.

So I always knew that there was more power in the man that owned the house rather than the man that actually was working on it and building it. So I always wanted to be the guy that owned the house. “Ownership for me was easy because I was underestimated. They said, ‘Sure, you can own it.’ They didn’t think it’d be worth anything.”

On lack of diversity in his movies, Perry said; “I wanted to foster an environment where minorities and women and LGBTQ, anybody who wanted to come and work and do a great job was welcome. What I found is, if you invest in the underdog, if you invest in the people who haven’t had the opportunity, the level of gratitude and understanding for what is happening for them is so powerful. It’s just wonderful.”

The mogul joins a group of Black billionaires that includes Robert F. Smith, Michael Jordan, Oprah Winfrey, David Stewart, Jay-Z and perhaps Kanye West. It was also reported that his movies alone have grossed nearly $1 billion to date, and he owns the rights to all of them.

Forbes reported that Perry used his ownership of all his creative output to broker a deal with ViacomCBS that pays him $150 million a year for new content and gives him an equity stake in BET+, the streaming service it debuted last September. He has homes in Atlanta, New York, Los Angeles and Jackson Hole, Wyoming, as well as two private jets

Good Story, Fat Wallet Get Me On A Film Set- Richard Mofe Damijo


Nollywood super actor, Richard Mofe Damijo, has revealed the major motivations for accepting a movie role.

In an interview, RMD revealed that a good story determines his decision to accept or reject a movie role before a fat wallet.

“The story. And it helps when you have a good wallet, because I put 35 years in this work, in this business, so it would be nice when your wallet is a bit deep.

“I won’t just do anything. I have to also pay bills. Yeah, the kids are at the point now where we have to buy dollars to pay school fees. But a good story, really, speaking seriously now, a good story is all it takes. And of course, I respect relationships.

I respect relationships a lot, and I service them. And so I have done an incredibly large number of free films for people that I consider, you know, family and probably don’t have the kind of wallet that I expected them to have. And while that would not become a problem at all.

Money is the least of my consideration. Really, if the story is good. People who know me in the industry would tell you that I’m a sucker for a good story. So if the story is good, money would then become secondary.”

The 59-year-old thespian also revealed that as of 2017, he hadn’t done close to 100 movies in his entire 36-year-career saying, “I didn’t jump on every bandwidth on every film that came my way.

I’ve always tried to be very selective about the kind of films I did. And in a lot of ways, I feel very blessed that my little body of work can kind of compare with any other person’s bodywork. For me, it is not about the number of films you do, but the quality of the films that you do.

The abducted proprietor of Excel Grace Secondary School Akaajime, Gboko in Benue state, Pastor Emmanuel Apeh, has regained freedom, Ekohotblog reports.

Our correspondent had reported that the Pastor was abducted on Thursday by gunmen after a church programme and driven off to an unknown destination.

Shortly after then, it was alleged that the abductors had demanded a ransom of N10m for his release.

New NBA Writes AGF Malami

The New Nigerian Bar Association (NNBA) has sent a message to the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, to notify him about its existence as a splinter group.

The new NBA’s formation followed the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA)’s alleged failure to uphold national unity in its recent decisions.

Last Thursday, two Kaduna-based lawyers Nuhu Ibrahim and Abdulbasit Suleiman announced NNBA’s formation, following the NBA’s withdrawal of an Annual General Conference (AGC) speaking engagement it offered Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai, among other grievances.

They informed the AGF of their plans in an August 28 letter signed by Ibrahim as Convener 1 and Suleiman as Convener 2.

The letter reads: “We are pleased to inform you of the formation of a new Association of Lawyers as above captioned. “The formation of the new Association has become imperative and expedient especially flowing from the activities, disposition and most recently, the decision of the Nigerian Bar Association-NEC (National Executive Committee) which apparently failed to take into consideration our national interests and particularly do not promote the unity of our indissoluble country, Nigeria.” “Sir, the New Nigerian Bar Association believes in the ideals that bounds (sic) our country together as echoed in our National Anthem: ‘The Labours of our heroes past shall never be in vain.’ “You are, however, to be further informed that work is in progress with regards to all the nitty-gritty of the formation of an Association such as this to which we shall keep you updated.” Both men had earlier stated they and others of like minds were in consultations with “very Senior Lawyers of Northern Nigeria extraction and those practicing therein with the view to constituting the Trustees and for purposes of fixing (sic) date for the formal inauguration of the Association.” But some lawyers from or practicing in Northern states offered divergent views on the move.

While two Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) Mallam Yusuf Ali, SAN, and Rafiu Lawal-Rabana SAN sued for unity, Jibrin Samuel Okutepa, SAN and The Arewa Young Lawyers’ Forum said that the Constitution was on the splinter group’s side.

The NNBA’s emergence is another front in recent threats to the NBA’s unity in recent times.

There had been growing talk of the formation of a parallel Bar following unresolved questions on the credibility of its national officers’ elections of last July 29 and 30.

The NBA leadership had been dominated by Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs), until Olumide Akpata, 47, caused an upset and won the presidential race by a landslide.

He defeated two SANs – Dr. Babatunde Ajibade and Mr. Dele Adesina – to become the first elected non-SAN president of the NBA in 22 years.

But Adesina and the pan Yoruba lawyers group, the Egbe Amofin, faulted the process, alleging the election was manipulated.

Egbe Amofin hinted that lawyers could be tempted to quit the association unless the issues were resolved.

The NBA Board of Trustees agreed that the election was not perfect but sued for peace

Black Man Shot In The Back Seven Times By Wisconsin Police A black man is in a serious condition after being shot seven times at close range by police in Wisconsin.

The man, identified by the state governor as Jacob Blake, was flown by helicopter to hospital on Sunday evening after being shot repeatedly in the back in the city of Kenosha.

Footage circulating on social media showed the incident with Mr Blake, who does not appear to be carrying a weapon, seen walking towards a car as two officers followed him with their guns drawn.

Man who raped, sexually abused daughter for seven years jailed For seven years, a man subjected his elder daughter to sexual abuse under the pretext of giving her a massage, beginning from when she was only seven years old.

He committed the acts while his wife was away from their home and his younger daughter was just outside the master bedroom.

The 48-year-old man was sentenced to 28 years’ jail and the maximum 24 strokes of the cane on Thursday (20 August) after he pleaded guilty to three charges of raping a girl under 14.

The remaining three counts of digitally penetrating her and one count of showing her pornography when she was between seven and eight years old were taken into consideration for sentencing.

Kano state police have rescued a 32-year-old man identified as Ahmad Aliyu, who was locked up by his father and stepmother for seven years in Farawa Babban Layi, Mariri Quarters in Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State.
