Faith Galadima, a 16-year-old student who was impregnated by the vice principal of Government Secondary School, Tunga, Niger State, has given birth to a baby boy at Injita village, Munya Local Government Area of the sate.

According to a report by PUNCH newspaper, the school's VP identified as Mohammed Mohammed, had allegedly slept with the pupil sometime in March this year, putting her in the family way.

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics has said it will embark on strike with effect from November 13, 2017 to press for the implementation of its agreement with the government. It accused the government of treating polytechnic education with disdain and levity.

Rising from an emergency meeting on Monday in Abuja, the ASUP National President, Usman Dutse, said his union would commence an indefinite strike after the expiration of its earlier 21 days ultimatum.

A female human trafficker alleged to be a prostitute identified as Martha Edea, 30, has been arrested in Lagos state while on her way to Ivory Coast.

Man United may have been handed a significant transfer boost as one of their rumoured targets threatens to quit his current club at the end of the season.

Real Madrid attacking midfielder Marco Asensio is said to have made it clear he’s not happy with his current situation with the club during a face-to-face meeting with club president Florentino Perez, according to Diario Gol.

The Spain international looked one of the most exciting breakthrough talents in Europe last season, having shone when given the opportunity to do so by manager Zinedine Zidane.

However, Asensio has not managed to maintain a place in Real’s starting XI this term, and Diario Gol claim he’s not happy to be overlooked when the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema fail to perform.

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo has said that the massive looting of the nation’s resources by the immediate past administration of President Goodluck Jonathan is responsible for the economic crunch the country suffers from under the present administration.

Speaking yesterday in Lagos at a ‘Greater Nigeria Pastors Conference’ organised by Rev. Yomi Kasali’s-led Berean Ministers Group, Osinbajo said the Nigerian system is deeply infested with corruption, adding that graft should be pointedly tackled at all levels of institution. According to him, the Muhammadu Buhari-led administration decided to borrow to fund the budget because the nation’s earning had dropped and millions of Naira are still unaccounted for in the last administration.

He said: “The theft of resources in this country is the first and primary reason for our poverty.

That is why we have to address the issue of corruption pointedly, not once in a while because the system is corrupt; it is a corrupted system that we are running. This is not a system where corruption is just an exception, corruption is generally the rule in the Nigerian system.

“It is easy to say how come we don’t have money or why are we borrowing money? If you as an individual have N1million and somebody stole N900,000 from it, you won’t ask the question how come I am poor? You will immediately tie the theft of your money to your poverty.

“When we came in, we had a foreign reserve of $32 billion, but there was $15billion used for defence contract that was unaccounted for.
Weeks before the 2015 elections, the government then, gave out N100billion in cash and $295million in cash ostensibly for security within two weeks. Those are the reasons why we don’t have money.”

Nollywood Actress, Nkechi Emmanuel who came into limelight following her role as Nurse Titi in Clinic Matters, talked about relationship, her bride price which has been paid by a white man and her new movie in an interview with The Sun.

Nkechi who is wrapping her latest production ‘The Interview’ due for release by the end of this year, disclosed that Nigerian men don’t really have what she wants, hence her romance with a white guy.

Here are excerpts from her interview with The Sun;

Can you briefly tell us about yourself?

My name is Naomi Nkechi Emmanuel, but people call me Nurse Titi, because of my role in Clinic Matters. I am from Anambra State. I am a graduate of History & International Relations from Lagos State University. I am planning to go for my Masters degree either in Film Production or Law.

When did you develop the flair for acting?

It’s been a long time. I would say the talent has been growing, but it took me a while to discover it. I discovered the talent when I was in church and my mum actually supported me. I was 16 then and I went for several auditions. I later went to the National Arts Theatre to make enquiries and I was told to pay certain amount to register. I paid and the whole thing started from there.

What was your first movie as an actress?

It’s ‘When You Are Mine’ and it was a blockbuster. In the movie, I played alongside numerous artistes and that was when I acted as a nurse for the first time. When the movie came out, people said I did well and that was where Mr. Paul Igwe, the producer of Clinic Matters saw me and gave me a chance.

Are you saying you started acting professionally with Clinic Matters?

Before Clinic Matters, I had done some drama series on NTA, but this brought me into limelight.

Is playing the role of a nurse the best you can do?

In fact, I am sick and tired of playing the role of a nurse. I have acted in several movies as a nurse and I keep telling the producers that I am not born a nurse, and that I can do other roles.

Toddler twins joined at the head have been successfully separated today following an 11-hour operation by a team of 30 doctors, 20 nurses and many other paramedical staff, Dailymailreports.

Medics from around the world came together in New Delhi, India, for the risky surgery on Jaga and Kalia, who amazed the health profession by surviving to the age of two-and-a-half.

The twins were born in a village in the eastern state of Odisha with shared blood vessels and some shared brain tissue.

They had undergone the first phase of the separation surgery in August.

The lifeless body of a 23-year-old woman, identified as Lebogang Lamola has been discovered with multiple stab wounds in Seshego, South Africa on Monday, 24 October.

According to Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe, the body of Lamola was found by her mother. “The 23-year-old deceased was left alone at home yesterday in the morning and at about 17:30, when the mother came back, she was found lying dead in her bedroom with multiple stab wounds throughout her body. It is suspected that she might have been killed by her boyfriend,” said Ngoepe.

Initial police investigations have revealed that the deceased’s boyfriend left a suicide note at the crime scene.

“The matter was reported to the Police who reacted swiftly and started with their initial investigations which revealed that the suspected boyfriend has left a suicide note at the crime scene before he fled,” Ngoepe added.

The boyfriend who is a highly wanted suspect has been on the run since Monday was said to be hiding at different places, which included Rusternburg, in the North West Province and the Bela Bela area, allegedly couldn’t handle the pressure anymore and handed himself over to the authorities, said Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has been having chats with club president Florentino Perez that could affect Manchester United’s transfer plans in the near future.

The Croatia international is reportedly unhappy with the form of current Los Blancos striker Karim Benzema and has requested a raid on his old club Tottenham for Harry Kane, according to Don Balon.

The England striker has been in lethal form this season, netting 13 goals in 12 games for Spurs in all competitions to spark talk of a big move away from north London.

The Sun claim Manchester United could be ready to spend as much as £170million on Kane next summer, but Modric hopes Real can bring him in as an upgrade on Benzema.

The France international has just two goals in all competitions this term, with Diario Gol recently claiming he could even be offered to Tottenham as part of any deal for Kane.


Either way, things don’t look great for Benzema’s future at the Bernabeu right now, but United won’t be happy either if it means they miss out on the chance to land Kane for themselves.

Stan Kroenke believes sacking Arsene Wenger last summer would have been the easy thing to do.

Arsenal finished outside of the top four for the first time in the Frenchman’s two decade reign last season but despite opposition from a vocal minority of fans the club decided to press on with plans to extend Wenger’s contract by a further two years following a third FA Cup win in four years.

Majority shareholder Kroenke, who is set to take questions from supporters at the club’s AGM later today, remains content with his and the board’s decision and believes allowing Wenger to leave would have been the easy way out.

Few months ago, RRS operatives in Oshodi arrested one Seun Jimoh, 18, for pickpocketing. Jimoh, a trainee auto – engineer, abandoned mechanic work for pickpocketing in Oshodi on the ground that it was more profitable.

Jimoh, decked in brown jacket and trouser, and a hand bag like a corporate executive, as at the time of his arrest had already stolen four mobile phones from unsuspecting commuters in an early morning rush in Oshodi.

He was removing N18, 000:00 from the pocket of a commuter during another bus stampede when he was caught.
Unknown to Jimoh, two of his victims were on the lookout for him after suspecting him for being in possession of their missing phones.

Second Republic lawmaker, Junaid Muhammed, has revealed that the embattled former pension boss, Abdulrasheed Maina, whose family disclosed in Kaduna on Wednesday that the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration pleaded with their son to return to work, had been around in government circles and has been holding political meetings in Kano.

Maina’s younger brother, Aliyu, who had stated that the noble efforts of the ex-pension boss made him enviable to the Muhammadu Buhari administration “to convince him to come back and assist in its ‘CHANGE’ agenda”, also accused the so-called cabal in government of blackmailing their son, revealing that he (Maina) would soon expose the cabal.

While speaking exclusively to New Telegraph, Muhammed disclosed that the current administration of President Muhamamdu Buhari was taking Nigerians for a ride, just as he challenged the police and the DSS to deny that they have not been protecting Maina.

He said on telephone that the Buhari administration was full of shady characters, urging Nigerians to look at the Maina case, Babachir Lawal and Ayo Oke issues and judge for themselves whether this government is corrupt or not.

Former military Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon has given insight into what happened at the Aburi Conference, in Ghana, convened to resolve Nigeria’s civil war.

The civil war started in 1967 and ended in 1970.

Gowon became head of state in July 1966.

The former leader declared that the Federal Government, under his leadership, went to Aburi unprepared, following a disagreement which broke out between the Supreme Military Council (SMC) and the Eastern region, led by late Colonel Odumegwu Ojukwu.

He was, however, quick to add that their decision to go to Aburi was borne out of the desire of leaders on both sides, at the time, to win back the trust and confidence of Nigerians and insisted that secession was never part of the resolutions they agreed on.

Gowon disclosed this, yesterday, on an Africa Independent Television (AIT) programme “People, Politics and Power,” monitored in Lagos.

A Magistrates’ Court in Ota Ogun State, on Tuesday, ordered the remand of four men accused of ritual killing, in prison.

The accused, Jeremiah Ademola, 32; Samuel Babatunde,77; Obaniyi Michael, 32 and Haruna Afolabi, 44, whose addresses are unknown are facing three charges of unlawful possession of human parts, conspiracy and murder.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs B.B. Adebowale, ordered that the accused should be remanded in prison pending legal advice from the state’s Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) on the matter.

Adebowale adjourned the case until October 25.
Earlier, the Police Prosecutor, Cpl. Abdulkareem Mustapha had told the court that the accused, with others still at large, conspired among themselves to kill two children for a ritual.

He said that the accused, after killing the children, buried parts of their bodies in a church in Ota.

The Anambra Government says it will pay the accumulated arrears of leave allowances owed its workers in November, 2017.

A statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Awka on Tuesday stated that Gov. Willie Obiano made the promise at the inauguration of Queens Convent Secondary School, Ifite-Awka, in Awka South Local Government Area.

“You will start receiving your leave allowances from Nov. 10, 2017. This is to enable you enjoy the Christmas celebration like other Nigerians,’’ he said.

The governor further announced that every worker would receive a bag of rice among other benefits before the Christmas.

“Next year, there will be general increment in salaries of Anambra workers. We are doing all these to promote the welfare of workers in the state,’’ he said.

Obiano said that the first and second batch of promotion of workers in the state would soon be released.

He said that teachers and other civil servants would equally get their due benefits alongside other workers.

14-year-old Schoolboy Shoots Two Classmates To Dead in School

A teenage schoolboy has shot dead two other students at his school in Goiânia, Brazil, local media say.

The boy, thought to be 13 or 14, launched the attack at his private school after midday (14:00 GMT).

At least four students were injured and are in hospital in the city in Goiás state, central Brazil.

A police colonel is quoted as saying the boy may have been bullied and that police are investigating whether that motivated the attack.

The suspect is reportedly from an army or police family, and went home to pick up the weapon before carrying out the attack.

He is now in police custody.

Few days ago there was a dirty child custody fight scandal between Miss Ummi Bukar Bolori, ex wife of Aminu Abubakar, one of the sons of former vice president of Nigeria, Abubakar Atiku at their daughter’s school.

In a new interview with Nonye Ben Nwankwo, Ummi spilled some secret, revealing how her former mother in-law sparked the fight with her ex-husband even after Atiku Abubakar gave them a ‘mandate’ of how to live with the kids, she has been

left to speak out.

She further revealed how Aminu has caged her kids off from her. Here are excerpts from her interview;

Why did you wait till now to get the custody of your kids?

It is not as if I have not bothered, that is not true. I am a woman and I am a northerner, a full northerner at that. I am from a respectable home. When I started asking for the custody of my kids, I didn’t

want it to degenerate to this messy and scandalous path that it eventually took now. I had reached out to my ex’s father twice. I spoke to him like a father, I explained to him how I felt and how I wanted my kids. I didn’t set out to embarrass anybody. I didn’t want my story to be out there.

Some people might think it got to this level because of Atiku’s political ambition…

No way. This is not anything political, I am not like that. It is not because of what they are going through now that made me come out openly to ask for my kids. I have never lived a public life. I am just a normal Maiduguri girl. I am from a humble home.

So why did you allow it to go public?

For it to happen this way, you should know that I have tried all the possible ways to do it in a peaceful way and in a solidarity manner. I am not sure his father will even blame me for taking this route. He knows that I have tried so much to get my kids. I don’t blame his father for everything that has happened.

Who do you blame?

I blame his mother, Titi. She has been behind all these. She never wanted me to see my kids again. She wanted to punish me because I left her son. In fact, her son told me it was his mother who told him not to allow me to see my children. He would always hide whenever I asked to see the children. As a mother, apparently she got hurt because I left her son. I really understand her standpoint. She kept me away from my kids because she is a woman and she knew keeping me away would get to me. Her poor son just followed her and he just ended up messing himself up. Mothers are very strong in every family. Nobody can prevent a mother from seeing her kids. My ex-husband said nobody could fight them. He even said that to me before now. I even felt it was true at that time. Even my family, nobody was behind me in this fight. I fought him alone. But he fought me with his mother. I don’t think his father was with him. When I went to my kids’ school to get them, it was Titi that was even calling the DPO and telling him not to give me my kids and that he

should arrest me. She wanted me to go down. She wanted to hurt me.

Didn’t she like you when you were her daughter in-law?

I never fought with her then. But she was never there for me. When I had my kids in Saudi and Dubai, she was never there. Some mothers usually go and stay with their daughters law when they are having babies. She was never there for me. Now, all of a sudden, she wants to come and punish me with my kids. My family does not like what is happening now but I stood my ground and said nobody would take my kids from me. It was just a friend who encouraged me that as a mother, I have every right to ask for my kids even without their money. The kids need to stay with their mother no matter what. I don’t need their money anyway.

The Vice Chancellor (VC), University of Ibadan, UI, Professor Abel Olayinka has lamented the poor performance of the first year students of the institution in the recently concluded First Semester Examination, saying that 510 of the 2,961 of the 100 level students face withdrawal from the institution due to poor performance.

The affected students were those admitted at the time the Federal Government placed a ban on the conduct of Post-UTME examination and were admitted base on their JAMB and WAEC/NECO results.

In a statement, Olayinka said, “The Senate of the University of Ibadan at its meeting held on Wednesday, 18 October, 2017, considered the results of the First Semester Examinations for the 2016/2017 Session. One major feature of the results was the noticeably poor performance of the 100 level students.


“From our records, 510 of the students out of the 2,961 posted a Cumulative Grade Point Average of less than 1.0. Kindly note that this is the minimum level of performance required to retain studentship here. In other words, 17.2 percent of the 100 level students would have to significantly improve their academic performance in order not to be advised to withdraw from the University at the end of the session”.

An histogram provided by the Vice Chancellor to illustrate the percentage of the students with CGPA less than 1.0 across the faculties in the university shows as follows: Faculty of Arts- 6.9, science-16, Basic Medical Sciences-34.8, Clinical Sciences-5.5, Dentistry-7.1, Public Health-45.8, Forestry-33.3, Social Sciences-8.3, Education-15.4, Veterinary Medicine-26.6, Technology-20.9, Law-2.4, and Pharmacy-12.9.

Stressing that the situation was particularly alarming in the Science-based faculties, and that parts of the second stanza on the University Anthem talks of ‘Greatness won with honest toil’, Olayinka said, “As leaders of this University at this point in time, we have the onerous responsibility of bringing the best out of our students.

“For me as a person, it hurts very deeply when any student is advised to withdraw from the university on account of very poor academic performance. As you are aware, the pass mark in any of your courses is now 45 percent as against 40 percent hitherto. Secondly, Continuous Assessment now accounts for 40 marks out of the maximum 100 marks in each course.

“Moreover, the minimum number of units that you need to pass at the end of the 100 level is now 24 units, as against 20 units previously. All these taken together indicate that the standard is being improved. Students are expected to rise to the occasion by being more focused and always remember the primary reason why you are here.
