Pedestrians around Stadium bus stop, Surulere, Lagos on Thursday morning walked out to find a policeman lying unconsciously behind a flower garden. PUNCH Metrolearnt that the policeman, who was in uniform and boots, was observed in the helpless state at about 6.30am. Our correspondent gathered that the officer, whose names had yet to be known, might have been by the roadside all night as he looked frail and foamed in the mouth. It was said that passersby, who expressed shock at the sight, could not move near him for fear of being implicated. While some wondered whether he was attacked by some hoodlums and dumped at the place, others felt he was drunk and had yet to recover from the effects. However, one of the eyewitnesses was said to have reported the incident at the Surulere Police Station. When our correspondent arrived at the scene at about 9am, the policeman had been evacuated from the garden by his colleagues. Meanwhile, a keeper of the garden and also an eyewitness, who preferred anonymity, said they were all shocked at the sight as they initially felt the cop had been killed and dumped at the location. He said, “That was the thought that initially came to mind. But we discovered he was not dead. His body was moving slightly, but he also foamed at the mouth. He was not attacked as his body didn’t show such signs. It looked to me that he had fallen sick and could not go home. “However, no one could move near him as we didn’t know the station he was attached to, his name or relatives. But someone called the emergency line, and another person went to the Surulere Police Station to make a report. Later, they came to take him away.” When our correspondent got to the Surulere Police Station, an officer noted that the policeman had been taken away to a hospital for treatment. When contacted for comments, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, said the policeman, who was attached to the Surulere Police Division, was now in a stable condition. He said, “Yes, the policeman was discovered at the junction in that condition. He was not involved in any accident. He is an officer attached to the Surulere Police Division. Meanwhile, the information received at the moment says he is now in a stable condition.” culled from: www.punchng.com/metro-plus/confusion-as-pedestrians-find-unconscious-policeman-by-roadside/

You'll find lions, leopards, and bears (no tigers), along with nearly 100 other animals, insects, and creatures in the pages of the Bible. I think it's safe to assume that God is an animal lover. Although the names of Bible animals vary from one translation to another and sometimes these creatures are difficult to identify, God's Word showcases numerous members of the animal kingdom. The names on this list are based in theNew Living Translation (NLT)with Scripture references provided for each Bible animal.

Baby-shaped pears, heart-shaped watermelons and square apples are hitting supermarkets in China and Japan. But are these fruits just frivolous fun? Since the beginnings of agriculture, humans have been customising their fruits and vegetables to suit their needs. Early on, bigger fruits and higher yields were the most important considerations, and while these factors still outweigh the actual taste factor, other, slightly less pressing desires have come into play over the past decade or so. Namely, people want to eat fruit that doesn’t look like regular fruit. Which is how baby-shaped pears have come into existence. Grown by China-based manufacturing company, Fruit Mould Co., these strange little shapes have been selling like crazy in China, along with square-shaped apples, and heart-shaped watermelons and cucumbers. Their Buddha-shaped pears are apparently extremely popular. The way these fruits are created, says Carl Engelking at Discover Magazine, is by placing very young fruits - still attached to their vines or branches - into a plastic mould. The moulds are then clamped shut with screws and shielded from direct sunlight using a sheet of tough, water-proof paper. At a certain point in the fruit’s maturity, the mould can be removed and the fruit will continue growing into the desired shape. This last bit can be very tricky, and farmers have spent many years getting the final shapes right. According to Brian Ashcraft at Kotaku, it took farmers in Japan three years to perfect their version of the heart-shaped watermelon. While this all looks like some frivolous fun, there is the opportunity to apply practical applications to this technology. Packing round fruits for transportation, storage, and display in supermarkets takes up lots of space, which means more money and trucks on the road, and securing their roly-poly shapes in trucks and display spaces takes time. The square watermelon idea originally came to be because Japanese supermarkets don't have a lot of room to display their large, round shapes, so local farmers developed easily-stackable square ones. Of course, they're around three times more expensive than regular watermelons, presumably due to the amount of work that went into their development, but as the technology ages, the prices should eventually come down. Beautiful right?? So here is my question do you think this kind of fruit will be appreciated in NIGERIA?? source: http://eanimalworld..com/2014/08/meet-chinas-baby-shaped-pears-and-heart.html

Davido’s sister arrived to her wedding reception in style, by a private jet. On Sunday, September 1, 2013, the elder sister of Nigerian pop star, David ‘Davido’ Adeleke, Sharon Adeleke had her white wedding in the city of Miami in the United States of America (USA). The ceremony witnessed the influx of the high and mighty in the entertainment industry in Nigeria at the event as well as business mogul, Aliko Dangote. The Kokomaster, D’Banj was also in hand to add glamour to Sharon’s wedding. Also present were May D, B-Red, Shina Rambo and few others. The new couple had their traditional marriage in Lagos on August 15, 2013. It would be recalled that Don Jazzy, Tiwa Savage and some other celebs were present at the traditional wedding

Barely 72 hours after Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, joined the micro-blogging service, Twitter, thousands of Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora have extended a hand of fellowship to him by subscribing to his tweets. As at 5pm on Thursday, the President/Chief Executive of the pan-African conglomerate, the Dangote Group, had attracted a followership of over 30,000 users on the social network. A check through his Twitter page shows that his followers are not limited to ordinary Nigerians who make use of the social service but include serving lawmakers in the National Assembly, past public office holders, children of past Nigerian leaders, as well as top shots in the nation’s entertainment industry. Some of the high profile Nigerians following Africa’s most powerful man (as declared by Forbes magazine) include a former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; former Governor of Kwara State, and Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, Bukola Saraki; and Vice-Presidential candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria in the 2011 general elections, Fola Adeola. Others include a former Chief Executive Officer of the United Bank for Africa, Tony Elumelu; daughter of late military dictator, Sanni Abacha, Gumsu; artistes such as Dare Art Alade, Dr. Sid, Rugged Man, and Weird MC, among many others. Surprisingly, despite the huge reception he received on Twitter, Dangote has yet to deem it fit to reciprocate the gesture by subscribing to the tweets of any of these Nigerians following him on the social platform. In fact, Dangote is not at present following any Nigerian on Twitter, as he has signified preference for the tweets of a few of his billionaire colleagues; his manufacturing conglomerate, Dangote Group; the World Economic Forum and the Kofi Annan Foundation. The billionaires Dangote follows on the social network include the former Chief Executive Officer of General Electric Corp., Jack Welch; Chairman of the world’s largest personal-computer software company, Microsoft, Bill Gates; and Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of General Electric, Jeff Immelt. Dangote’s decision not to follow any Nigerian is very much unlike some prominent Nigerians who make use of Twitter. For instance, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, who follows only 26 people on the social network, deemed it fit to follow some Nigerians. Although Atiku subscribes to the tweets of foreigners such as South African President Jacob Zuma, he did not lose sight of prominent Nigerian users of the social service. As such, Atiku follows the likes of Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola; former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, as well as entertainers such as Don Jazzy and Ice Prince. Meanwhile, Dangote has broken his silence online, saying he is “glad” to make use of Twitter. In his first and only tweet, he gave a word of encouragement to many Nigerians who have been asking him for advice on business success saying, “nothing is impossible” to those who pursue their dreams with commitment. “Glad to be on Twitter. Wishing you all a prosperous New Year. Stay positively committed to achieving your dreams, nothing is impossible,” Dangote said in his first tweet. However, it is worthy of note that with his decision to sign up for Twitter on December 31, Dangote joined the league of eminent clerics, businessmen and world leaders who signed up for the social service in 2013. Another amazing thing was they he got varrified by twitter bearly after 48 min of regestering with no tweet at all........MONEY SPEAKS

Insulin pills could soon be a reality thanks to researchers in India who have developed a new method of delivering oral insulin. The researchers used sacs made of lipids to pack the insulin and then added folic acid to the pill to help improve its absorption into the bloodstream. The formulation helped control blood-sugar levels in rats for about 18 hours. The next step is to replicate the same results in humans. N.B: To those may not know insulin is a type of injection administered to diabetes patients Really hoping this makes front page |

The shoal of meat-eating fish appeared on a popular beach in Argentina More than 60 people were injured in a mass piranha attack in an Argentine river. Dozens of bathers including more than 20 children were bitten by the shoal of meat-eating fish during the surprise Christmas Day attack. A seven-year-old girl lost part of one of her fingers. Other swimmers suffered deep cuts to their ankles, fingers and hands. The attack happened on Christmas Day on a popular beach on the Parana River in the city of Rosario, birthplace of Barcelona striker Messi. Swimmers trying to cool down in 100 degrees Farenheit temperatures raced out of the water bleeding from wounds and shouting for help while the parents of children in the water rushed to their aid to drag them to safety. Coastguards called paramedics so they could assist the most seriously injured before police closed off the beach. The attack, blamed on a piranha cousin called palometas, was the most serious of its kind in the city since 2008 when 40 swimmers were hurt. Paramedic Gustavo Centurion described them as “very aggressive.” The meat-eating fish are reported to have been attracted to the coast by bait left by local fishermen. Local government spokesman Ricardo Biasatti described the attack as a rarity. Souce..daily sun more updates on www.facebook.com/emmeysworld

Australian and US researchers have developed a compound which reverses muscle ageing in mice - a key step towards reversing ageing in humans. The compound gave mice more energy, toned their muscles, reduced inflammation and led to improvements in insulin resistance. Scientists say that for humans the effect would be similar to a 60-year-old feeling like a 20-year-old..... more animal and plants alerts then like: www.facebook.com/emmeysworld |
