Ezedon: Nigeria should go and look for a foreign coach to carry onwhy don't you go and look for one yourself? Inferiority complex is really affecting some people. Keshi achieved what your so called foreign coaches couldn't eg Berti Vott, Lars Lagerback. It amazed me when I see some people still calling on foreign coaches. :O |

The Super Eagles Coach, Stephen Keshi, on Friday said he will continue coaching the Super Eagles if his contract with the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, is extended. Keshi told journalists in Abuja that he would love to finish what he started with the team if given the opportunity. “Although I have not spoken with the NFF yet, I am out of contract now and I need to move ahead. “I have spent two and a half years in Nigeria and I love Nigeria, it is my country and the national team is in my blood. “If I meet with the NFF and we agree to the conditions in a new contract, there is no problem. “There are many countries like South Africa that are seeking my service; but I will give priority to Nigeria if we agree because I will love to finish what I started if everything goes on well. Keshi said if his contract is not extended, he will go elsewhere for the experience. He expressed optimism that the Super Eagles would be a team to reckon with in few years to come if the players are kept intact. “There is a lot of potential in the team because they are players, who, in the next three to four years, Nigerians should be proud of. “But that is if we continue with this group of players with some additional ones”, Keshi said. Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi says that he is "shocked" by reports that he has resigned after his side's World Cup defeat. Keshi, whose side lost against France in the last-16, insisted that nothing has been decided. "What I said to my players was that this was maybe my last match at the helm of affairs in the national team, because my contract terminates with the World Cup and I have not been offered a new one," the 52-year-old explained late on Tuesday (Wednesday AEST). "I was a bit shocked that the global media went to town to say I have called it quits with the national team. Resignations are not done on the pages of newspapers, but formally." Keshi's comments were released by the Nigerian team's media officer, Ben Alaiya. Keshi did say that several countries have expressed interest in employing him after Nigeria, including South Africa, which he suggested was positive for Nigerian football and their coaches. Asked about his next job move before Nigeria's closing first round game against Argentina he replied: "I've had a lot of interest from other countries, South Africa is one of them. "I cannot confirm it, I'm thinking now about this game, one of the most important in my career." Keshi, who captained his country at the 1994 World Cup, took charge of Nigeria in 2011. Last year he masterminded their triumph at the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa. He tendered his resignation after that tournament but it was rejected by the Nigerian Football Federation, reports said. Keshi paid tribute to his team captain, veteran defender Joseph Yobo, who has announced his retirement from international football after becoming the first Super Eagle to reach the 100 cap milestone. "Congratulations to Joseph Yobo on his 100 caps," he wrote on twitter. "He has served Nigeria well. On his retirement, I wish him success in future endeavours." www.sportsfan.com.au/keshi-says-nigeria-split-not-yet-formal/tabid/91/newsid/136233/default.aspx?utm_content=buffer9b32e&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer#.U7NL6dyljro.twitter |
