Hello house,

Hope everyone here is doing well.

I applied for my study permit application May 11. Having completed my biometrics on May 14, it's been quite a while since my Background Check has been in processing. I'll like to actually know the average time it takes for one's background check to be processed.

Thanks.

Yes, IRCC verify the account provided from the bank

Yes, IRCC can request for the same account statement in 4 months times (becoming a recent practice)

But I'm sure IRCC don't expect the money to just be sitting down in the account like that.

Hello house. Good morning.

Please I need to find out something. After printing my sponsors bank statement and applying for my study permit, if my sponsor makes a huge withdrawal from his account to do one or two things, is there any way IRCC will get to know about such transaction? Also, is it possible for IRCC to request an updated statement of account to verify the availability of the funds after applying for my study permit. Thank you

Thank you.

Please what's the difference between Letter of Explanation and Statement of Purpose. Are they interchangeable terms?

Do not lie to the VO

The VO will have records of your brother who is taking PhD

Tell the truth. Fill the truth in the blank. It's a scholarship for your brother anyway.

Focus the story on yourself instead.

(Yeah, your dad can do that. He can let the VO know the number of dependents he has... Your PhD brother is not a dependent, as he is independent.)

Thank you very much.

Here is the thing.

What the VOs are thinking most time is if you will truly have access to the fund you claim will be available to you.

While you may be telling the truth in your application, the VOs have been advised to use their own discretion. Hence, they may redflag you for something they suspect to be falsehood, even if it is not falsehood.

This is caused by VOs' past experiences with many Naija applications.

So always remember to pray. With God, nothing is impossible.

I should add that

1. VOs have rules they follow. Whether these rules make sense to other people or not does not matter. Our own is to follow these rules too.

2. If your sponsor has dependents, then it is the job of the VO to examine the account statement and connect it with the socioeconomic circumstances of your sponsor. If the VO thinks the sponsor cannot/should not make such fund available to you, that can lead to a refusal.

From the last sentence, it only makes sense for the VO to consider the other dependents apart from the applicant. That brings me to my question: I (the applicant) have a brother who's still in school currently doing his PhD, though he's on scholarship.

When filling the family information form, there's a section where they ask me the details of my siblings, including their occupation. can I put an arbitrary occupation for my elder brother so that VO knows that my father sponsoring me bears no financial responsibility towards the education of any other of his children apart from me.

Or can my sponsor (who's my father) explain to the VO is his letter of sponsorship that he doesn't bear any financial responsibility towards his son (my elder brother) still in school (since he's on scholarship) and can fund my studies without any hindrance.

Please am I to provide 2 letter of sponsorship and 2 affidavit of sponsorship since my parents are the one sponsoring me or I need just 1 of each stating they are together?

I think you can go with whomever will provide the statement of account.

the in and outflow of money is okay. Just pray for God's favour. They questions lump sum if such amount of money has not entered the account before and all of a sudden, big money. What would be would be.

Thanks. It's really God's favour. Hopefully, it works out fine.
What you said is really a good point, because the money in the account peeked at 11m within the four-month period in the statement of account, so I don't believe the final 3m that entered to make a closing balance of 8.34m should be considered lump sum. But just to leave no stones unturned, my sponsor took the time to properly explain it.

Did you receive the gcms notes you ordered? Ideally the reasons on this refusal letter is generic, you were refused specifically based on your purpose of visit, I believe you didn't convince the visa officer that you're a bonafide student with your choice of program of studies and relationship with your previous education, career and how benefitial it is to you at this moment and future aspirations in your career, as for finance it could be that lump sums were noticed in your transactions on your account statement to the discretion of the visa officer, I believe with a better application you stand a better chance for approval

That's quite insightful. I seem to have some monies leaving and entering my sponsor's account (from 8m to 11m, then to 3m, 5m, and then finally grew to 8.3m). The 5m stayed in the account for about two months untouched, before it finally grew to 8.3m, which my sponsor explained in his Letter of Sponsorship. What do you think about this kind of transaction history, and is there any way I can better explain it.

Good day house. I just got in here and I've really been enjoying this thread.

I plan to apply for my study permit latest by May 10 in order to meet the popular May 15th deadline for people studying this fall semester.

However, before I submit my application, I thought it appropriate for me to have an expert review it. Please I'll like to know if anyone knows any agency or anyone at all who can help me out with this service. Thanks
