Firstly, let me just make it known to you that I am not a "Christian" so I am in no position to tackle this topic from a Christian angle. However there are two points you raised that I'm quite amazed by. First, the idea of recovering one's virginity. The second is the comparison of women's virtue to men ("nobody bats an eyelid when its a guy" ![]() I want to address your points chronologically. Hymenoplasty? I do not believe this method can restore a woman's virginity, more so despite whatever skills in science might be employed, losing one's virginity is irreversible and cannot be compromised. I don't know if people realise that virginity is not solely a physical thing. So someone trying to deceive her partner into thinking she is indeed an actual virgin is only deceiving herself. She might have repaired her hymen (a symbol of virginity to some) but will she also be able to pretend that she is a novice during the act? However being a virgin doesn't automatically make that person righteous. Your second point: -"Why is it that hell is always raised if a girl isn't found 'pure' but nobody bats an eyelid when its a guy?"- On the issue of double standards, I suppose virgin men have cause to complain also because often times they are sneered at whilst female virgins are usually regarded highly. I understand some men may sleep with multiple partners and be met with compliments but that should not be a factor for why a woman should follow suite in order to challenge societal trend - believe me such will effect the lady more. Some would actually consider it rather a fortunate thing that there is a value attached to their virtue and not the other way around. "If Jesus was so concerned about virginity, why didn't he allow them stone the woman caught in adultery?" Irony of that statement is that Jesus was said to have been born from a "virgin" woman so I doubt the value of one's virginity is underrated in Christianity plus I think you've misinterpreted that scripture ![]() Lastly, you seem to find it difficult to reconcile with some principles that your faith requires you to follow so if I may ask, why are you still a "Christian"? ![]() Do Christians have to mind what others think of them or shouldn't they be more concerned about what their God thinks? |
xmas no b ma thing at all, na ordinary day I tek see am before. . .sha, no mean to say I no for wish una a very merry christmas, una enjoy ![]() |
If I ever made him angry I will forever fear the retribution I may pay . . . ![]() I understand people can indeed change however I believe there is still something that can trigger that particular mood/reaction in them despite transformation. Despite any apparent "change" I will find it very very difficult to respect such a man and I would even feel guilty for being with one because already a lady (in which I share certain characteristics with) had suffered - I have no idea why but I would feel as if I'm disrespecting the victims if I was to enter such a relationship with a former abuser but I'd hate to forever hold a past err against another imperfect human being. Of course I cannot predict the future but as of now with my current frame of mind I would be too cautious and nervous to introduce such scenario in my life. |

@ Daiquiri The statement on the fellow poster's signature was a tongue-in-cheek and rhetorical questionThe poster never posed the question, it was I. I just converted the person's statement into a question because it wasn't my declaration and I wanted to hear other people's thought on the matter. |

@ Daiquiri They mean God exists, and not as an imagination or fathomhmm well I did ponder on that statement for quite a while and weighed each word against the other. I did initially see the difference in the terms and fairly understood what that particular poster was trying to communicate. I also can accept the definitions you offered for each term and I quite agree. . . "exist" appears rather static to me but "lives" renders the subject being discussed some movement. However I actually prefer your connotations. |
I saw this statement on a fellow poster's signature and it made me to pause and think for quite sometime. Perhaps the way I have been evaluting God in a close minded way. So I contrasted two statements to detect a difference in meaning:- "God exists" "God lives" What do such sentences connote with each term adopted? How important is it to differentiate between these two terms "exist" and "live". . . what is the difference? |
