With respect to Q31:141, if put back in its context does not suggest its permissibility or impermissibility. It appears to be something normal. Did he cast lots to see if he would make it through sea or what ?.

Now deniers are going to argue that this was in the past before nabi(saw). That advent of nabi (islamic sharia) put an end to it due to ahadith quoted by raitaker. The question now is, isn't the same applies to graves visitations?. That practice also predates nabi(saw). This is quiet unjust on your part. The hadith which speaks about this has its context. And in the context which it speaks is manifest in the world today. Why are you pretending like you dont see it?. Women are vulnerable. The hadith goes further to say a time will come when man (husband) will have to coercesively restrain his women. It is clear from th narration that women are foremost at being deceived. The implication is those women who are deceived and would not stay within thier Divine limit are what the hadith is talking about. Not obedient women folks. Obedient to Allah and their husbands.

In the time of nabi, in the case of financial negligence of the men in his community, as in the case of Hind, the wife of Abu Sufyan. Prior to his conversion to Islam, Abu Sufyan was one the most prominent chiefs of Quraysh; the dominant culture in pre-islamic Makkan society. However, from the looks of her complaint, he was also extremely frugal, to the point of familial neglect, a common tread among leaders during that time.

She said, " O Messenger of Allah! Abu Sufyan is an extremely stingy man and doesnt give me what is sufficient for me and my child. If I take from his wealth, without his knowledge, is there any sin on me for doing so?" So, the prophet(SAW) replied to her without fear or hesitation, "take from his money, (without his permission), what is sufficient for you and your child."

This is undoubtedly a pre-modern enforcement measure sanctioned by Sharia Law, resembling a post-modern system we know today as child support. Prophet Muhammad(SAW) even advocated for the participation of women in civic life outside of the home , which appears to be the main point of contention behind the establishment of the All Women's Mosque in Los Angeles. In my opinion, since nabi(saw) was sent to the whole of mankind, the implication is that, some form or manner, these different religions, whether they acknowledged him or not, there would always be traces of nabi in their Books or whatever Divine path they use. It is the same in Christianity and Judaism bcus we are close to them and we use their Books to quote certain sentences from them. It is the same with Hindu text where Dr Zaki Naik would quote verses in reference to nabi from there and we never accused him of being hindu despite non-indian muslims might not know anything about hindu text.


Same applies to Ifa. There are traces of nabi therein where Sheikh Abdulfatai Thaqofi quoted "Odu Ifa" pointing to rosul(saw) and muslims. But to non-Yoruba muslims or Yoruba muslim like salafis, they might think of it as if the Sheikh is alawo. But it is the same thing when muslims quote Bible and torah. It is bcus we have negative view of babalawo (as a result of their negative practices and as portrayed in Nigerian movies especially Yoruba and Igbo) seems to be the reason for critical views of such alfas. And I am not talking about 'alfas' who have wholeheartedly submitted themselves to AWO and committing shirk. I am talking about those who simply take what is permissible in islam from them. Just like for instance, visiting graves. This has always been practiced before advent of nabi(saw). When nabi(saw) came, he put temporary stop to it to allow muslims to have strong islamic faith before allowing them to visiting graves again.

We can see here the purpose of temporary stop to visiting grave was to allow the sahaba to grow iman so as to discern true essence of visiting graves from what mushrikun used to do at the graves. The appearance (ziyara) is the same (with mushrikun) but reality is different. In another word, appearance and reality are opposite to each other. The same is true of ifa and iyepe tite in my humble opinion except for those who might take iyepe thing to another level
