FastShipping: There is no way I pay 3.8 Million Naira for 20KVA generator. I rather go with the 9KVA Honda generator selling for $5000. The only issue is the noise. I have been looking at the alternative options in the last one hour. 3.8 Million naira won't work for me.
$5000 is only 2M+. The big ones are in the region of 8-12 Million Naira for 40-60kva.
really?. But i see big ones like those (not sure if they are brand new) but saw the price for #1.5 and #2m respectively. Didnt know they are that expensive. Thats why it makes sense to me to buy 60KVA. I better rethink fast fast
mufutau55: Wait no more: This is the guy they gave me directly from China. I have nothing to do with any of them o. But I bought mine and some of my friends bought theirs from there too.
Summec Flagship Store 19 Olowu Street, off Awolowo Road, Ikeja - Lagos.
His name as I know it is: Mr. Chuddy at 08033151381 Also on WhatsApp.
I have seen same brands from Konga.com, founai.com.ng and others but I don't know how genuine.
mufutau55: I said base it on that watts not on the 8.2kva. When you overload the gen you will hear the high change in the sound then you know you are approaching the limit. My manual does not say 5kva, so I stand on the 7.2kva. It's always load at your own risk.
Hajji M.
What if someone chooses to buy 60KVA like k1 but doesnt really have much appliances or load on it, what happens in this case?. More comfortable or has negative effect?.
mufutau55: When I want to buy something that I know nothing about, I usually do a lot of research. So when I was ready to buy this Generator, I heard there are lots of Sumec Firman running around in various stores, so I contacted the manufacturer in China direct to give me their true Agent in Lagos, Nigeria because I don't want Aba made. They gave me the guys name and info. I bought it from him... I will look for his details now and post.
FastShipping: Yes, his place is big. I saw it but there is no way he needs more than 60KVA for his house. Those 4 generators he has are industrial generators. Their capacities start from 60KVA and above. It is more about an illiterate show he has money.
The place where I work now has a standby CAT generator of 80KVA. It is 15 times bigger than where Wasiu lives.
damn!...I guess you know what you talking about. Or maybe he is using the other 2 for backup
FastShipping: You actually don't need 60KVA to power what you have with two refrigerators on 24/hrs. I have 11 ACs, 4 tvs and lots of other things to power and I can assure you 20KVA can power 6 ACS at a time, 1 refrigerator, 40 lights, iron, water pump, big microwave without any problem. As a matter of fact, I only need 8KVA of power to power 6 ACs at a time with other few things I just listed.
20KVA diesel generator is a powerhouse too.
The better for me then. Just worried about unexpected instruments that may be added in the future so i dont have to worry about generator then.
FastShipping: That Wasiu is an illiterate. I recently saw on youtube how he was throwing 1000 naira bills in the air to his fellow illiterate in his compound hailing him as Alhaji.
Why would anyone needs such four gigantic generators at home if not about showing off? Those generators are made to last a life time.
But his place is big. Plus he DEFINITELY has bunch of musical stuff to power on
FastShipping: Yes they are. They are enclosed. Some of them are 58-63 decibels without load. When fully loaded, the noise goes up to around 73 decibels.
The best thing to do is to have them at least 40 feet away from the main house to reduce the noise pollution from the generator.
Look at the generators in enclosure and the one not in enclosure.
FastShipping: Na generator sure pass. In my own case, I don't need to power everything at once. I'm going for 20KVA diesel generator.
K1 having 4 diesel generators look overkill to me. Some people just like to show wealth by displaying they have it in abundant. I don't see why Wasiu needs more than 40-60KVA to power whatever he has. The house is two wings. Those generators in his compound are not less than 60KVA each. Especially the first one to the left.
This is getting interesting. You are providing me vital info here bro. I just feel like buying the big one like 60KVA in case. And when i said powering on everything, i dont mean turning on everything at a time. For instance, fridges and freezers MUST be on 24/7. TVs dont have to. Essential lights, and cameras DEFINITELY. AC dont have to be on 24/7 etc. So i rather just go for the big one in case something else comes up. Plus, i may need to provide at least a neighbor to benefit
FastShipping: I would have loved to go for solar too but appliances and other things I need to power are so much that I've been advised not to consider solar.
You can go for solar in a house where you have maybe 8-10 lights, 2 tvs, refrigerator and laptop. But in a house where you have to power five or more ACs, water pump, 10-15 lights, iron, 4 tvs, laptop, big microwave, and few other things, then solar power won't be a good idea.
In my own case, I'm going to need at least 40KVA of power if I have to power everything I intend to power in my house at once. That won't be possible with solar because you actually need twice the KVA of what is required to power your house. Solar power requires you have twice of power you need or else it goes bad within few weeks.
For example, if your total power need is 8KVA, solar system requires you have 16KVA of solar power. Your solar system must run have capacity of its total power.
Oooh...i see. Thanks for clarification.I guess I go back to traditional way then. Definitely, if i need generator, I'd go for big one to power everything all at once. I dont have time for shutting anything down for the others.
However, for K1 to have at least 3 of them in his compound, thats mean the big one pictured is not enough for that much space.
Truthinlife: Sorry bro, I don't know what you refer as "ki" compound" is that someone's name or a follow nairalander, pls share with us. Besides we are considering something compact like the picture below; not lister.
This one is small though but if that's what you can afford, no problems.
I was talking about big generator like the one in K1 de Ultimate compound (pictured below).
For me, I think i rather go with Solar. It is just one time struggle and the rest is history. But gen, you still need diesel, isnt?. What if there is scarcity of it?
Truthinlife: Hajj....Prayer is the key to all things. Welcome back though.
Guys, while I wait to see pictures of the iron doors been done for one of us here, I have a question for those who know much about generator. I understand solar is the "in thing" now and very beneficial as I hope to install it someday. However, Generator is still the most popular alternative to PHCN now and few years to come. The questions is, what capacity and make (original) of generator could you recommend for a 5 bedroom duplex, We don't intend to use it to run AC, and freezer. Just basic lights, fan for each room, and Television. Any heavy power equipment should be excluded when considering or responding to this. Good number of fence security lights (normal energy saving bulbs). Thanks for your willingness to share your knowledge and experience.
how about those big kind of generators like the one seen in k1 compound?. Isn't that powerfully enough to sustain large appliances?
KolaShangOne: Well.. Prices depend on location, and the company. In Lagos, I'm not sure it's up to the quoted amount. But in the East, prices are quote high.
Why is that?. Shouldn't be more expensive in Lagos than the East, considering Lagos being "financial hub"?
I would consider this movie as Shaytan mind games especially where the guy is shown material things by his supposed friend not knowing it is nothing but vanity until everything disappears
My friend has been sending me this type of messages for a month now. Don't know what has come over him. He barely prays daily salat. I would visit him on Jum'ah before and after salat, he just stays in his office focusng on his job.
He bombarded my what'sapp with "Sunna messages" last week and that got my eyes rolling like " bro, you had a dream to return to Islam or something?".
Then I asked him last Thursday how is business?. He said it is collapsed and things not the same anymore. Then I begin to think he's being tested.
He Just Sent This Few Mins Ago

Truthinlife: Thanks Emp.iree for your response. Guys, I have asked this question directly at nairababas building thread but no one responded.
Can anyone please give me contact of a welder or where I can get these iron doors..pictures below; in Port Harcourt or any closer city around it. They look solid and fanciful. I will need 6 of the doors. I will appreciate any leads from anyone reading this. The sample pictures are as shown here... Hajj, nairababa, I hope you don't mind me displaying the pictures in this thread; I can delete them if you think otherwise.
Thanks.
kindly let me know price range given to you if you able to get hold of a welder. Thanks
KolaShangOne: Yes. The first one (brown is Sumo) and we bought it 2100.. The second one is Tower. Bought at 2820 but we got it discounted at 2677 per sq metre.
Quote given to me is fair then. Just about to roof mine. Quote is for the sheet pictured below
