Additionally, checks and balance applies not only to law making but also applies to the fact that for example he can't make an executive decisions/order to go an blow somewhere up unless placed in front of Congress all because someone looks at him wrong OR has an opinion or point of view different than his OR do and undo because he feels like it... there is a process... this is far different than Trump towers...

I will say that although Obama may not have been the best equipped to lead the country by merely looking at his resume coming into office being a very young senator in his career but I will say that he came into office at a very difficult time. Folks wanted change so there is it is!

Additionally, if the USA believed that he was leading the country in the wrong direction then it was every bit of the average American's right to vote him out in which he would not have served a 2nd term. However, the people spoke and so there we have it... Barack Hussain Obama, a two term president.

To be frank... I'm actually quite interested in seeing how Trump will work it out. Thats if he's not impreached and if he does make it full term I have no doubt he'll be booted and denied a 2nd term. It'll be like watch a 4 year season of the Apprentice! HA! *popping popcorn*

Abi o, even Wintson Churchill is famous for saying that Democracy is the worst form of govt...except for all the others.

Who knows what the Russians have on him.

But the thing is that as flawed as democracy is, the election of Trump shows a chink in the American electoral system. Its as if God wanted to show us the fallibility of the best of man made systems.

Couldn't have been more perfectly put! There has been talk in the past about doing away with the electoral college but now its an ever present topic and I label as an "issue" that should be addressed. Especially as folks become more privy to its historical implications.

Does any one know the story/history behind why and how the elctoral college was created?

Simply put... it was a system created soon after blacks received the right to vote and to compound it the right to vote was limited to 3/5ths of a vote because the government only deemed blacks then as only 3/5ths of a human.

Interesting perspective@Manchurian candidate... I concur... there's no form of government - democracy, republic, etc that doesn't have its flaws when there are humans involved.
