wif d little i know bout bridges,nt all bridge piers are circular, there are other shapes of bridge piers. Bt d design might always circular cos of even transmission of load. Since there are no sharp edges, d load will b transmitted uniformly thruout d pier sectn. Dats d little i know. Expectn replies as well.
2) shear force n bmd are used for designing concrete structures against shear n flexure. The bmd gives d values of moments d structure is expected to b subjected to, usually to determine reinforcement bars to b used against tensile forces, n sumtimes compression. While shear force is used to design against shear(cutting off due to shear force) n dey can also b used in determining deflectn.

About learning, I suggest you watch many YouTube videos you can or buy online training tutorials. You should be able learn it yourself as a trained civil engineer( Just an extension of what you already have in your brain)

I'm a CAD tutor and very versed with them. I use tons of software at professional level cutting across several engineering field of architecture, civil, production, mechanical and construction. I write and run scripts, cos no single application out there is perfect. when designing houses, I literally build them in computer 3D with all dimensions of as-built. when designing structural members I teleport myself into the world of CAD. I use 3D MAX for most rendering and animation with mental ray cos Vray normally drain computer resources. I use inventor or solidworks for mechanical design.
