Why dont links to websites open in an external window

If I still want to remain in Nairaland while visiting another link or website, I simply right click the link and select open in a new tab or window (if I'm on pc, eg mozilla or internet explorer web browsers.).
when on phone, I use either UCBROWSER or OPERA MINI 5, 6 or 7, ibrowser,

In opera mini 5, 6 or 7. I simply highlight the link, press 1 and select open in new tab,

In ucbrowser, I highlight the link, press # and select open in new tab.

There is no reason for this- "opening a link in an external window" to be an issue.

Dear Seun,
The only thing I think should be added to make Nairaland look interesting, is the issue of inbox messages and the ability for a forum poster to delete his posts when needed.

Secondly, I love using the rss feeds, but the whole posts being shown whilst scrolling down to see newly updated topics makes one feel bored. I guess the rss feeds needs to be edited to contain just the topic's heading and a few lines of introduction to the topic being displayed. Check out bbc rss feeds, sahara reporters rss feeds, and my school .com rss feeds.

In Addition, I hate it when I'm being banned by "pyguru" for posting a link.

Probably, a nicer background would do for the home page.

Finally, I'd like to request for the post of an assistant forum moderator. Pls.....

I guess its high time we abandoned MTN and migrate to Etisalat and airtel.

If not that MTN dominated the telecom market in Nigeria, it wouldn't be ripping us off like this. Amongst all their tariff plans, its only Mtn pulse i admire. But yet what is it compared to Etisalat's easy cliq tariff?

The other time it was upgrading, now they are trying to indirectly cover up their loses by ripping us off in their fake 500% bonus.

Ok here is the java file

Below is the application for those who are desperate to have it.
I kept it in a (.zip) format which means that you have to have
a blueFtp application on your phone to extract it or you can simply
download it to a PC, extract it and then send it to you phone.

This application is very valuable to java phones, which includes
nokia 3110c, 2700 classic, nokia xpress music (java). and the rest.
(Mostly Nokia Java phones)

How to use it
After you've successfully installed it on your phone, launch it and click on
"scanner" to scan your phone's file systems for viruses.

Be sure to enable the app to access your phone's file system before launching it
To do this, you'll have to go to to your options menu when the application is highlighted,
scroll down to "App. access" then down to "data access". Now in this "data access" menu
you'll have to select "add and edit data" then select either "ask always" or "ask first time",
which ever options is available on your phone. This process is a must do for nokia 3110c
users.

Why must I enable it to access my file system
Reason is that it must be enabled in order for the app to access your file system to scan them for viruses.

There have been rumors circulating that cosmic rays from Mars are entering Earth tonight so we need to switch off our phones, or put them away from us.

Here is the text I received from a friend of mine:

Tonight 12:30 am to 3:30 am cosmo rays entering earth from mars. So switch off your mobile at night. Don’t keep your cell with you & put it away while you are sleeping because they are too much dangerous rays: NASA informs BBC NEWS. Pls spread this news.


The message above is clearly nothing more than just another HOAX . I don’t know why people are circulating panic messages such as this to disturb the lives of other people. From what I have noticed, this message has been circulating since 2008 and it suddenly reappeared today, 15 august 2012. I also received text messages containing this false information and saw similar Facebook posts.
I did my own research and I have found no credible reports that confirm the claims in the warning message.

There are no references to such a threat listed on credible scientific websites. I also checked the NASA and BBC news today to see if they have posted something like this. Fortunately, both have never said such a thing and will never probably produce a similar baseless statement.
Despite the claim in the message, there are several reasons to say that this information is untrue.

First, Mars could not emit harmful radiation because it is not a star. Cosmic rays are emitted by stars. i.e bodies that are undergoing nuclear reactions that is fusion (as occurs in our sun) or fission (as occurs in nuclear reactors). Mars is neither. It is a planet that just reflects sunlight. It cannot emit cosmic radiation.

Next, with regards to these rays the earth’s atmosphere is capable of taking care of them so no need to worry. The magnetosphere absorbs and protects us from the sun’s harmful radiation. Whatever remains is too feeble to affect any thing as far as earth.
The Earth’s magnetosphere prevents most of the particles from the Sun, carried in the solar wind, from hitting the Earth.

Another thing is that we are actually hit by cosmic rays every day — all day (and night too). If it was going to hurt your cell, then it would have already fried it by now.
Sometimes magnetic storms on the sun will fry the electronics of satellites in orbit, and may also blow out the power grid in high latitudes near the Earth’s magnetic poles, but other than static, I don’t see what it might do to your cell phones.
So, to anyone who will receive this kind of message, please think it over and help educate others.


Spreading dubious and unsubstantiated warnings such as this is counter productive and is unlikely to help anyone.
