I WEEP FOR JOAB

Reading the bible as a little boy especially the old testament books of 1&2 Samuel, 1&2 Kings, and 1&2 Chronicles, I fell in love with Joab, the General Commander of King David's army. I loved him for his courage, war strategies, and subtleness.
He was in my world, a great warrior. He was my childhood hero. Starting from being the first man to enter Jerusalem and defeated the Jebusites, to fighting the Philistines, and destroying every opposition to the throne of King David. I saw him as a committed and loyal soldier who stayed by his master, but today, I weep for him.

Upon all the accomplishments of Joab, his was not recorded among the mighty men of David. His name was not written in the book of men of valour. Surprisingly his younger brothers, Abishai and Asahel, including Uriah ( Whom he orchestrated his death on David's instruction) made the list. But alas! This "great warrior" never made the list. His death was also a foolish death. And I cry, " Died Joab as a fool dies"

Are many of us not like Joab. Very religious and so serious with church activity. We are the beloved of everyone. We are skillful, we are dedicated, we are committed, we are loyal. Everybody can testify that we are serving the Lord, We might even be in a leadership position like Joab. But alas, on that final day, our name is not found in the book of life?

Are we going to work ourselves out, only to later die as a fool?
It will not be our portion.
It takes genuine repentance and conversion from sin, and doing the necessary restitution, to have our name written in the Lamb's book of life.

I was in a Secondary School this morning, and the experience I got there, is nothing to write about.
They are taking Mathematics today but the atmosphere is as if nothing is happening.

The "I don't care" altitude exhibited by the students showed that our education system needs help.

Instead of revising their books, they were busy checking their phones for leaks and shouting "ogbaa le" (It has come out).

They will carry this same ideology into the university, graduate, serve, and begin to work. After we will be shouting corruption.
That is why we have unproductive educated people.

I then begin to wonder, " Are these people not the future leaders of the nation?"

Ebonyi state governor, David Umahi has banned the consumption of three soft drinks in the state
- Stating that the drinks were dangerous to the health he angrily instructed aides to remove them from the governor's lodge during a meeting
- This ban is coming after a recent report that the drinks contain large amounts of benzoic acid
The governor of Ebonyi state, David Umahi has placed a ban on the consumption of Coke, Sprite and Fanta soft drinks at government functions in Ebonyi state.
The governor gave the order during a meeting with some traditional rulers and town union executives. The meeting which held on Tuesday, April 18 was about to start when Governor Umahi on entering the governor’s lodge, noticed the soft drinks on the tables.
Gov Umahi speaking at a PDP rally According to Nigerian Bulletin, he immediately jumped up, demanded for the microphone and ordered the ushers to remove all bottles of coke, sprite and fanta from the hall as according to him, they are dangerous to health.

The ushers and protocol officers evacuated the drinks from the tables out of the hall as the governor warned sternly: “I don’t want these brands of soft drink to be served in any government function again."

Recently, a case was heard at the Lagos State High Court where it was alleged that Fanta Orange and Sprite may be hazardous if consumed with vitamin C.
