The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (APCPCC) has accused the government of President Goodluck Jonathan of stealing from Nigerians following the refusal of the government to reduce fuel pump price in line with the continued fall in crude oil price. The APC, in a statement by the Director of Media and Publicity of the campaign organisation, Garba Shehu, said the government is expected to go in line with happenings in the oil sector in the international market and allow Nigerians enjoy the benefits of the crash in oil price. The Directorate of Media and Publicity of the APC presidential campaign said it was disturbing that in spite of the fall in the global price of crude oil, Nigerians still buy petroleum products at pump prices as if the global price of crude oil had remained at $100 per barrel. The current situation, the APC said, was a mere move by the government to please some moneybags who are probably friends of the Presidency. Giving examples of countries that have cut the prices of fuel in line with the drop in global oil prices, the APC said countries like South Africa, Zambia, Tanzania and Kenya have done so, as it asked the government to take a cue from them. “The current attempt by the government to deregulate the prices of some petroleum products has been completely compromised to satisfy few moneybags to the detriment of the Nigerian people and the economy. “The price of diesel, which has been deregulated since 2009, still sells at the pump price of N150 and N170 per litre, the same pump price when the international benchmark per barrel of crude was over $100. “Now that the international benchmark has dropped to $47.5 (USD) per barrel as at Monday, we ask: where is the deregulation and the relief which it ought to bring to local consumers of diesel? “For the Nigerian consumers, unfortunately the collapse of crude oil price since October 2014 has not translated into any change in diesel, kerosene and PMS prices across the country.”http:///L9ZV0FM8Aq |

Navy arrests MASSOM members in Onitsha January 13, 2015 The Nigerian Navy has arrested six members of the Movement for the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) for allegedly causing breach of peace, disturbance and hoisting unauthorised flags in Onitsha. The Commanding Officer of the Naval Out-Post in Onitsha, Navy Capt. Mike Oamen, handed over the suspects to the Anambra Police State Command. He said that naval officers apprehended the MASSOB members after they blocked the Onitsha-Enugu road at Awkuzu Junction, near Awka. Oamen said that apart from blocking the road and threatening the peace of law-abiding citizens, the MASSOB members also hoisted authorised flags before they were apprehended. “We arrested five of them in Awkuzu Junction at about 1400 hours. “The arrested include another one Okechukwu Okoye, who was caught extorting traders and disturbing the peace of traders and shop owners in Fegge Community in Onitsha. “What we recovered from them includes clubs, charms as well as MASSOB flags, bags and caps. “I solicit that the residents of the state give prompt information about this gang and other criminal elements to the joint security taskforce for prompt action,” he said. Receiving the suspects on behalf of the command, Mr Temitope Fasugba, a Chief Superintendent of Police, assured that the suspects would face the “music.’’ He said the command would not allow any group to breach security and peace in Anambra. “I want to laud the Nigerian Navy for this cooperation and synergy as well as assure the residents of the state that those apprehended would be prosecuted. “They would be arraigned in court and justice would take its due course,’’ Fasugba assured. The names of the other MASSOB members are Obiora Igweonwu, Chibuzor Ekwe, Lawrence Nwibo, Okechukwu Nwafor and Okechukwu Emeka. http:///wBTww6Fd7M |

ANAMBRA STATE DECLARES TODAY PUBLIC HOLIDAY, BUSINESSES SHUT TO HONOUR BIAFRA FALLEN HEROES :: Prepare 50 Yards Cenotaph :: urges Biafrans worldwide to wear black attair in honour............................................................................................. At last a state government in Biafra has woken up from slumber. For years the soldiers that fought to defend Biafra and Biafran have largely remained forgotten by the people they died for. This was until May 30, 2014 when the Indigenous People of Biafra under the leadership of Nnamdi Kanu used Radio Biafra to mobilise Biafrans across the globe to remember the Biafran dead. Anambra State government has consequently keyed into the noble act. Arrangements have been concluded by the Anambra State Government to give a befitting societal burial to fallen Biafran heroes and others, who died during the Nigerian/Biafran Civil War today. According to the state Commissioner for Information, Hon. Tony Onyima, Monday today will be a work-free day and, as such, all markets within the state will be shut. Those expected to participate at the Alex Ekwueme venue of the event in Awka, the state capital, are consequently expected to put on black attire. Speaking further on the forthcoming event, Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka, the Ogirishi Igbo and Igbo spiritual leader, while expressing satisfaction for the burial, recalled that for about 30 years, he had been stressing the need for the burial so that the souls of the dead soldiers-those killed as a result of insurgency and others – that died in the Northern riots and auto crashes would stop to torment the living. He revealed that about 50 plots of land behind the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Awka, had been allocated as epitaph for the fallen heroes. The Igbo spiritual leader, who is a member of the planning committee, added that an interdenominational burial mass will commence in the morning as part of the activities lined up for the burial that will also commence with 21 gun salute to herald the event. On why it is only Anambra state that is involved in the event, he noted that the state as a pace –setter has to kick-start first, adding that other South East states will do theirs in no distant time as those who died were Igbos irrespective of the states they hailed from. The Igbo leader, revealed that the spate of violent crimes in the recent times in the South-East zone was sequel to the unrest nature of the spirits of the dead who he said hover around waiting to be accorded a befitting burial so that they would have rest in the spiritual world........................... http://www.biafransatellite..co.uk/2015/01/anambra-government-to-hold-biafra.html?m=1
