A boy that carries blocks or concrete at a building site doesn't have the kind of sophistication some people are ascribing to him. People need to visit a typical Ebonyi State village from where this boy went to Abuja to be working in building sites in order to guage the sophistication of such a boy. I live in Awka and I interact with a lot of young men from different states who work in building sites. They won't have any need for birth certificate or NIN. Birth certificate and NIN were obviously obtained for David while he was in Ekweremadu's house simply because they are necessary in order to obtain international passport and to travel. David never influenced what date birth that will be on the documents.

I am more likely to believe the story told by David. The reality is that a boy of his kind of background doesn't know anything called asylum or scamming. Does he even know any possible place to go in London if he is disconnected from Ekweremadu? A lot of people who say that David is a scammer do not understand what it means to suddenly transport a boy from David's background to the middle of London. Even a Nigerian degree holder that never travelled out of Nigeria before will get lost if he is suddenly transported to the middle of London and left to find his way. People who have never travelled out of the country cannot even imagine the complexity involved.

Lure a Yoruba boy that knows only Oshogbo into a bus and transport him to Onitsha and abandon him there and see how far his reasoning could save him. Then imagine transporting a poor building site worker from Ebonyi State to London. How could he quickly become a scammer and know about asylum? As David said in his story, luck was on his side. Doctor Harry got to know what he was told when they were bringing him to London and realized that he had been scammed and immediately called police. If not for Doctor Harry, David couldn't have done anything to save himself.
