Kogi State government has condemned violent clashes in Ochadamu area of the state in the aftermath of the just concluded governorship election. Kogi Governor’s Spokesman, Kingsley Fanwo in a statement on Tuesday expressed disappointment over the “mindless attacks by rival parties in Ochadamu”, saying anyone who breaks the law will be punished regardless of party affiliations. He said, “We feel disturbed at reports of violence in Ochadamu that has led to the loss of lives and property in the community. “It was reported that a supporter of the All Progressives Congress was stabbed to death while party members were jubilating over the outcome of the Governorship election. “The reprisal attack by alleged APC members which led to the death of an innocent woman is criminal and condemnable. Our government would not shield party members who break the laws of the land. “His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Bello has directed security agents to quell the rising tension and also ensure that perpetrators of the murder and arson are brought to book. “The Governor is elected to protect all Kogi people regardless of their ethnic or political beliefs”, he said. Fanwo said the State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara has been given a marching order to ensure the crisis is brought to an immediate end. He urged the people of the community to maintain peace as justice will surely be served.source: https://confluencenewsbit..com/2019/11/kogi-govt-condemns-post-election.html?m=1 |
The Spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Campaign Council, Kogi State, Faruk Adejoh-Audu says he cannot congratulate Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello because Kogi State was turned into a war field during the Saturday election.Adejoh-Audu said the election was marred by violence, claiming that nine PDP members were killed during the election. He also explained how the PDP women leader of Ochadamu Ward in Ofu Local Government Area, Salome Abuh, was burnt to death in her home by political thugs.“I will have congratulated Governor Yahaya Bello but unfortunately, I cannot because he won no election. What he won was a war waged by him and the Nigerian Police, so I cannot congratulate him.“His claim that there were just pockets of violence is incorrect. There is hardly any ward in Kogi State except a few that did not experience violence.“Violence is not necessarily when people die, but in this case, people died. At least nine people died, all of them were PDP members. The 10th person was killed after the announcement of result yesterday and it was the PDP woman leader of Ochadamu ward,” Audu said.He also insisted that the Kogi election was a war and not an election.“We came out for an election but it turned out to be a war with the Nigerian Police, the security agencies and Yahaya Bello members of staff.”Meanwhile, the PDP governorship candidate in Kogi State, Mr Musa Wada, have rejected the results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).He described the election as a declaration of war against citizens of Kogi State and insisted on using every legal means to reclaim his mandate.source:https://confluencenewsbit..com/2019/11/yahaya-bello-won-war-not-election-kogi.html?m=1 |

Apple is planning to launch a cheaper iPhone model in the first half of next year to help boost its sales in China and other emerging markets, according to a report that shows Apple following other tech giants competing with budget smartphone brands. iPhone 6 may lose Apple support with iOS 13 being developed The new model is seen as the successor to the iPhone SE, which Apple launched in 2016 and which has since been phased out, according to the Wednesday report from Japanese newspaper Nikkei. If pricing matches that of the previous SE model, then this would allow Apple fans to get the latest iPhone model for around 140 dollars less than the current cheapest model, the iPhone XR With a 4-inch screen, the iPhone SE was smaller than its bigger brother, the iPhone 6. The screen in the new edition, on the other hand, should be as large as the iPhone 8 at 4.7 inches, Nikkei reports, citing people familiar with Apple’s plans. DPA International described this new model as a departure for Apple, which for the longest time has relied on a strategy of staying out of the highly competitive market for inexpensive smartphones. But Apple is apparently struggling to compete with the numbers of technically advanced Android phones from brands like Xiaomi and Honor, available for as little 300 to 400 dollars.Analysts such as Anshul Gupta of market researcher Gartner expect that an increasing part of the smartphone business will take place in this price category, especially in important growth markets such as India. Apple’s smartphone sales have been dropping recently, mainly due to weaker sales in China where a new budget phone might help. Engr. Musa Wada, PhD, FNIS was born on the 17th of May into the family deeply attached to Moslem values. Through his parents but predominantly by self-effort he "discovered" the need and purpose for an exemplary life. He is an individual who has continual growth and transformation at the heart of his strategic decisions and actions and like an athlete, he always looked forward to better his time; his life reflects a relentless drive to keep the flames of self-renewal burning. He is one of Nigeria’s foremost engineers. Stoic perseverance in the face of adversity as well as unobtrusiveness in situations where others would capitulate are among the guiding principles and indeed the staying power of Engr. Musa Wada. From the onset, Musa Wada knew that success was not going to come easily, and was also convinced that for him to succeed, hard-work must be his watch-word. This was a principle he guarded zealously. And, today, those virtues are speaking loudly for him . Engr. Musa Wada, as he is popularly known and called, is an indigene of Odu in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State. Born into the family of Alh. Wada, his mother Hajia Awawo hails from Idah Local Government Area of Kogi State. Engr. Musa Wada is one of those men who have the tenacity to always do better than their last achievement. This is a very remarkable trait because when one is complacent, true success cannot be achieved. He has the uncommon wisdom to continue growing in the face of challenges and changing circumstances and each victory created the zeal and hunger for further successes. When the news of his appointment as Port Manager, Calabar Port Complex broke out in January 2013, it did not come to many as a surprise, particularly those in the maritime sector of the Nigerian economy, because providence has its way of rewarding hardwork and doggedness in service which Engr. Musa Wada has severally exhibited all these years in the service of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), show of true patriotism and commitment to the development of the Nigerian state. Between January 2013 and April 2015, Engr. Musa Wada was saddled with the responsibility of overseeing the day to day running of the Calabar Port Complex, ensuring good, proper and timely policies formulation and implementation for effective service delivery to the maritime sector players. The Federal Government has a robust plan to boost local production of tomato and create employment. The Executive Director, National Horticultural Research Institute (NIHORT), Dr. Abayomi Olaniyan, made this known at a workshop on “Tomato and ginger production, and value addition” in Kano, during the week.Olaniyan, who said tomato production in Nigeria was below demand, put the production figure of fresh tomato at about 1.8 million tonnes, while the annual demand was 2.3 million tonnes. He said the Federal Government’s tomato policy was to reduce post–harvest losses, boost production and attract investments into the value chain. Olaniyan said the workshop had become imperative as a means of creating more awareness on the importance of the commodities in achieving food security, sustainable livelihood and economic empowerment.“The training will cover important aspects of the commodities’ value chains such as nursery practices, production practices, value addition, and economics of production, marketing and record keeping. “The training will also cover tomato value addition and processing in order to reduce seasonal glut and inconsistent year round supply,” he explained. The executive director said processing of tomato would reduce the quantity of tomato being imported into the country, especially during the lean season of supply.“It is evident that improved production techniques and value addition must be taken seriously to attract sustainable levels of investment and stakeholders’ interest in ginger,” he also stated, noting that Nigeria was the third largest exporter of ginger in the world after China and India.According to Olaniyan, Nigerian ginger varieties are acclaimed to be of superior quality and outstanding flavor. He said they were preferred products in the international market. He said that NIHORT had the mandate to conduct research into genetic improvement, production, processing, utilisation and marketing of fruits, vegetables, ornamental plants and spices.
