I have read lots of commentaries on the rivers state governorship elections. Most of them are disjointed and leaves me wondering what really happened.
Has the popularity of Nyesom Wike waned in rivers?
Did the last election reflect the popular will of River state residents?
Who and Who is behind the AAC that is giving APC and PDP a nightmare in Rivers ?

Given a free and fair playground, what will likely happen is the previous election is cancelled and a fresh election ordered ?
What is the tentative result so far declared in Rivers ??

Result so far declared is unbelievable, out of 10 LGAs, the AAC candidate is leading in 9 and Wike just One. INEC will have no option than to declare AAC candidate governor elect. New election can't be held in Rivers state now as it will be worst than the former.

The Independent National Electoral Commission in Adamawa State has dismissed a Yola High Court ruling on Thursday which restrained it from conducting a rerun of the governorship election in 40 polling units in the state.

A Yola High Court headed by Justice Abdul-Aziz Waziri had on Thursday ruled that INEC should not conduct a supplementary governorship election in the state on March 23, 2019 following a request filed by counsel to the Adamawa State chapter of the Movement for the Restoration and Defence of Democracy, Mr Mustafa Shaba, over absence of the party logo on the ballot papers used for the first round of the election which INEC declared inconclusive.

Justice Waziri had ruled that after going through two affidavits submitted in support of the motion, the request had merit.

He said, “After careful perusal of the annexure one to five of the MRDD, alongside written address of counsel urging me to grant the application, I am of the view that the application is pregnant with merit and must be granted.

“I hereby grant the following order. The defendant herein, the INEC, is restrained whether by themselves, their executives, servants, privies, representative nominees or any other person or persons from proceeding with the supplementary election in respect of Adamawa State Governorship pending the hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice.”

But when contacted by one of our correspondents, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Kashim Gaidam, said the court lacked jurisdiction over the federal establishment, describing it as possible undue influence.

He said, “It is an order of a state High Court which has no jurisdiction over federal establishments. It is very surprising indeed. Could it be undue influence? Section 87 (10) of electoral law is also relevant. I am sure the commission will issue an official statement on the matter.”

After the first round of election on February 9, 2019, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Hamadu Fintiri, established a lead margin of 32,476 votes over the All Progressives Congress candidate, Jibrilla Bindow, who is seeking a second term in office.

Whether elections have been conducted or not doesn't matter as far as it was done in error and illegal.a court ordered inec not to conduct elections last Saturday and they obeyed.

Tribunal had already been constituted.

The order had no effect on the election

Let the go to the tribunal and stop wasting their time.

Progress being made regarding Rivers Governorship Election

The Fact Finding committee sent by the Headquarters of INEC to investigate the attempt by the Nigerian Army to manipulate the Rivers State Governorship Collation has swung into action.


Sources at the meeting informed that the committee requested duplicate polling unit results from security agencies & party agents who received same after voting.

Expectedly,sources at the meeting say that direct Collation of all polling units results have started in earnest.


Party agents and different security agencies entitled to duplicate copies have supplied same for direct Collation.


It was gathered that with 19 Local Government Areas polling units results collated and computed for the Governorship Election in Rivers State, PDP has 586,745, Votes while AAC ...51,521 has Votes .


After the closed door preliminary investigation and computations, the public would be briefed and open declaration made.

As at press time, the computations for three other Local Government Areas where elections held were ongoing by the Fact Finding Committee. Elections did not hold in the 23rd LGA, Abua/Odual, where soldiers frustrated the distribution of election materials.


The recourse to the Polling Units results was in line with the fact that it was where voting held and Accreditation via card readers took place. Results at this level are pure and verifiable.
