Jobs/Vacancies / Get An Oil And Gas Job Without Experience by Englov(m): 6:24am On Sep 28, 2019
How to get an Oil and Gas Job without experience and any time.

So you’ve decided that you want to work in an Oil and Gas company? That’s great. Now all you have to do is look for the jobs you’re qualified for and exercise patience until you hear back from an employer. But what happens if you don’t have any field experience in the profession?

There are a lot of good men and women out there (many ex-military) who have the work ethic but just can’t seem to find a company who will hire them at this time. “But I thought the oil companies were practically begging to have people work for them.” you say. This is only partly true. While there are many entry level positions available such as roughneck and welders, there are also a slew of other jobs such as medics, chemists, engineers and other services that need to be filled too. So while the oilfields DO create more jobs, a lot of them do require some sort of experience or professional degree to get. So where does that leave you?

Basic Qualifications

Before you go ahead and book the first bus to North Dakota in hopes of a big pay day, you need to understand what the basic qualifications are for entry level positions. These aren’t set in stone but should at least be taken into consideration.

You are in decent physical shape and can lift at least 50lbs multiples times throughout the day. If you have serious health problems, you’ll probably want to reconsider your choice
You are at least 18 years old with a valid drivers license
You are willing to work extremely long hours. It is not uncommon for entry-level employees to work 12-14 hours for 7 days a week. This lifestyle ain’t for the faint.
Medically fit to operate machinery
You own all the necessary protective gear such as boots, gloves, glasses and anything else you need for your environment
Willingness to move to the job’s location. Most likely you don’t live in the area where your company will need you. You must be OK with leaving your current residence for long periods of time
Be prepared for unstable employment. Many entry-level jobs fluctuate. You may have months of non-stop work followed by a month of being unemployed. Get ready to have to relocate to new jobs at short notice

Politics / Do You Agree?? Politicians Without Other Livelihoods Will Be Corrupt — Akande by Englov(m): 8:49am On Sep 27, 2019
The former interim National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Bisi Akande, on Thursday, said politicians with no other sources of livelihood may end up getting involved in corrupt acts in public office.

Akande, who spoke in Yoruba at the lecture organized to mark 94th birthday of Second Republic Senator, Pa Ayo Fasanmi, held in Osogbo, said many old-generation politicians had been successful in their careers before venturing into politics.

The APC chieftain noted that, before Fasanmi was elected as a senator, he had excelled as a pharmacist, adding that present-day politicians with no other source of income would be tempted to engage in graft.

“If you are not established in your profession and you get into politics, you will never do anything that is right.

“When we were still active in politics, we were contributing money for the party, but now, the reverse is the case. If politics can go back to the way it was being practised back then, we will have a sane society,” Akande said.

Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State, who was represented by his deputy, Benedict Alabi, in his remarks, described Fasanmi as a beacon of hope and an encouragement to the younger generation.

Former Oyo State deputy governor, Iyiola Oladokun, in a lecture titled ‘Ayo Fasanmi: An Epitome of Consistency and Loyalty to the Progressives Ideals,’ stated that those aspiring to lead the country must have quality education and high sense of discipline.

Nigeria’s former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has paid a courtesy visit to South Africa’s president Cyril Ramaphosa.

He presented the latest book he co-authored titled “Democracy Works: Rewiring Politics to Africa’s Advantage”, to the South African leader.

President Ramaphosa thanked the former President for working hard and still having the energy to write and contribute to current debates about the development of Africa.

The two leaders also used the opportunity to reflect on recent events in South Africa which saw more than four hundred Nigerians voluntarily evacuated from the country.

A statement by the presidential spokeswoman Khusela Diko says former President Obasanjo expressed his sincere appreciation of President Ramaphosa’s recent appointment of a team of Special Envoys who have in the past few days visited a number of fellow African states to deliver a message from the President regarding the incidents of violence against mostly foreign nationals.

The Plateau State Police Command has warned vehicle owners in Jos including politicians against driving with covered number plates.
The Command’s Spokesman, Mr Mathias Tyopev made the announcement in Jos on Thursday September 26. He said the act which has been aiding kidnappers and armed robbers in their activities in the state now poses a security threat.
”The Plateau state Command has observed with dismay the negative trend in recent times whereby some individuals, politicians, government dictionaries among others cover their vehicle plate numbers while driving on the highway and within the town.

The last has not been seen of the land dispute that saw two corpses being exhumed, three weeks after their burial in Isiozi Umuaka, #ImoState, as the corpses have now been dumped in the sitting room of the man that dug them out.
