RomanceWizkid, Tiwa Savages's 'romance' Waxes Stronger by engreo(op): 7:43am On May 26, 2019
During the week, a video surfaced online in which Starboy Entertainment artiste, Wizkid, could be seen lightly spanking Tiwa Savage’s butt. Expectedly, the rumour mill went agog with several fans insisting that the relationship between both artistes was beyond platonic.

Days after, at Patoranking’s album listening party, Tiwa and Wizkid showed that they indeed have a bond.

Tiwa had arrived at the event way earlier than Wizkid but once she got word that Starboy had arrived the venue, she and her entourage quickly went out of the premises to welcome him. She patiently walked by Wizkid’s side as he greeted those who struggled to get his attention. Even when he got into the hall, Tiwa sat dutifully by his side. Intermittently, she could be seen whispering into his ears as both of them giggled like school kids.

Also, contrary to news making the rounds online that Wizkid did not accord 2baba respect when greeting him at the event, Sunday Scoop can authoritatively report that this wasn’t so. Wizkid actually greeted 2baba properly. As a matter of fact, 2baba and his wife, Annie, were on their way out of the venue when Wizkid came in. Both men exchanged a handshake and had a brief chat. Wizkid also acknowledged Annie before going into the venue.

PoliticsJonathan, Dickson In Cold War Over Balyesa PDP Guber Ticket by engreo(op): 7:29am On May 26, 2019
Former President Goodluck Jonathan and Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State are locked in a struggle to patch up their alleged strained relationship ahead of the November 16, 2019 governorship election in the State.

Each of them wants his own candidate as the next occupant of the Government House,Yenagoa.

Jonathan, who was appointed chairman of the State Education Endowment Fund on Friday, is believed to have lined up six aspirants to choose from as PDP candidate while Dickson prefers someone from his administration to ensure continuity in government policy and programme.

Sources told The Nation that the ex-president is considering picking one of the following: a former Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mr. Timi Alaibe; the Coordinator, Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC), Mr. Reuben Okoya; Senator Emmanuel Paulker; the pioneer Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission (NAEC), Dr. Franklin Osaisai, and the Group Chief Executive of KDI Group, Mr. Keniebi Okoko and a retired Federal Permanent Secretary, Dr. Godknows Igali.

Alaibe is said to be Jonathan’s top favourite.

The cold war between the two leaders is believed to being aggravated by an alleged deal between Jonathan and the National Working Committee of PDP to allow the ex-President have his way.

However, Dickson is not having any of that and is insisting on due process and transparent primaries because he controls the party’s structure in the state.

A source familiar with the development said:”The next November 16 governorship poll is causing disquiet in Bayelsa PDP with the emergence of a cold war between ex-President Jonathan and Governor Dickson. Although Dickson has been a dependable ally of Jonathan for over 20 years, they are treading different paths on the choice of the party’s governorship candidate.

“As the highest ranking PDP leader in the state, Jonathan wants to be allowed to anoint the party’s candidate. Already, six aspirants have been shortlisted from among whom Jonathan wants to pick one. The aspirants are Chief Timi Alaibe, Mr. Reuben Okoya, Senator Emmanuel Paulker, Dr. Franklin Osaisai, Mr. Keniebi Okoko and Dr. Godknows Igali

“The ex-President believes he anointed Dickson and his choice brought good fortunes to Bayelsa, he should be honoured by PDP to do so again.

“But the governor is embittered that Jonathan is putting forward all the aspirants who worked against his re-election in 2016. He is also insisting that his successor must come from within his Restoration Government for continuity.

“The ex-President is already working in concert with ex-First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan to mobilize women in the state against any candidate anointed by Dickson.

He has also reportedly recruited Governor Nyesom Wike to help mobilize support for him in his quest to produce the next governor of Bayelsa State.”

Another source confirmed that the disagreement between Jonathan has been taken to the PDP headquarters and a former President.

The source added: “Jonathan is selling the credibility of all the aspirants as a decoy to prove that he is after a right choice but he knows who he wants to anoint. Though all the aspirants are close to the Otuoke born former president his preferred candidates remain Alaibe and Okoya. While Alaibe is a veteran aspirant and a latter day ally of Jonathan, Okoya, a well- known architect, is Jonathan’s business partner.

“Jonathan has allegedly presented Alaibe and Okoya to some of his trusted friends and the National Secretariat of the PDP for support.

“He is equally believed to have appealed to his colleagues, including a former President to persuade Dickson to concede the governorship slot to him.

“But the ex-President was non-committal. He faulted him for not condemning the senseless killings during and after the last elections in Bayelsa State. The thinking in the Jonathan camp is that in the event that none of his candidates sails through the PDP primary election, Jonathan promised to back any other candidate but Dickson’s in the November 16 polls. The former president was said to have dropped the hint at a meeting in faraway South Africa when he recently led Election Monitors to the country.”

A source in Dickson’s camp vowed that they would stop Jonathan.

He said:”We shall stop Jonathan and his men from producing the next governor both at the level of the PDP guber primaries and the election proper in November. In this year’s general election, they fielded candidates in the opposition parties particularly in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) against the PDP and we defeated them

“They wanted to undermine the governor and humiliate the PDP but we proved to them that Bayelsa is PDP and PDP is Bayelsa. In the upcoming PDP guber primaries, we shall not allow those who did anti-party against PDP to win election in Bayelsa State. President Jonathan and his anointed candidate (s) will be defeated squarely.

“The leader of the party in the state is Dickson, not Jonathan. The governor has directed the PDP State Working Committee to conduct a free and fair election. We are confident the primary will throw up somebody from Governor Dickson’s system because we have the delegates and he that controls the delegates is actually the one in charge of the electoral college.”

But a source in the Wadata Plaza said the PDP NWC will not interfere with the congresses and primaries of any state.

A PDP chieftain who spoke to The Nation on the condition of anonymity said: “PDP wants to retain Bayelsa State and we shall not manipulate the process or outcome of whatever happens there. We are good students of history, the party has learnt its lesson in a hard way . We are here to deepen internal democracy not to deepen imposition of candidates on people.

“We know the influence of Governor Dickson in Ijaw land and the Niger Delta region and we cannot impose a candidate on him or undermine him in any way.

“Both the governor and the former president are very important to us and we shall ensure that we reconcile them so that we go into the election as a united party.”

But Jonathan in some recent tweets appealed to Bayelsans to allow peace to reign.

He said aspirants should seek power for the purpose of improving the livelihood of the people.

He said his comments were extracts from some of his thoughts at the workshop on “Credible Governorship Election and Good Governance in Bayelsa State organized by Ijaw Elders Forum

He said: “My message to all those who desire to govern us is that we shouldn’t seek power for the purpose of enjoying privileges and entitlements but for the purpose of improving the livelihood of the people.

“We need peace to develop as a state; to develop as a state we need to work together and ensure that peace is sustained during and after elections. The Ijaw Charter and Ijaw Nation Code of Ethics, Leadership & Governance is a welcome development.

“Our society will be better if all political players commit themselves to this Charter.”

Jonathan, Dickson in strange romance ahead of guber poll

The sight of the former President and the Governor walking, sitting and laughing together in a state function at the weekend surprised many.

Most people described the romance between the two political leaders ahead of the November governorship election as strange following reports hitherto suggesting that they were cold to each other.

Jonathan hardly attended state functions. He was conspicuously absent at important state functions including ceremonies for inauguration of critical projects, which had former Head of State, Yakubu Gowon and former President Olusegun Obasanjo in attendance.

Besides, Dickson’s and Jonathan’s paths hardly crossed in public as each of them would either send representative or find a reason to be absent at events that could bring them together.

Speculations of frosty political relationship between them became rife at the build up to the last general elections especially after the primary elections that produced the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The duo were said to have worked at cross purposes with Jonathan and his foot soldiers reportedly working against the candidates of the PDP in Ogbia, his local government area, following misgivings that Dickson frustrated Jonathan’s preferred aspirants at the primaries.

But the atmosphere at the launching of the Bayelsa Education Development Trust Fund at the Banquet Hall, Yenagoa, on Friday betrayed all the speculations as the two leaders worked harmoniously throughout the programme.

Jonathan and Dickson including the governor’s wife sat together, constantly engaged in whispering and cooperated with each other.

In fact, Jonathan stunned the guests when he praised Dickson’s achievements in the educational sector. A day before the event, Jonathan at another function organised by Ijaw elders in search of peaceful election, also poured encomiums on Dickson.

In his goodwill message at the launch of the fund, Jonathan said: “Let me just say that I appreciate what the governor and government of Bayelsa State are doing regarding education and we all know, and I tell people that the only way you can liberate people, you can uplift people is through education.

“Only on Wednesday when our elders, from Lagos came up with a programme, though our governor was not there himself, the deputy governor was there. I did mention that we must all commend what the state Governor was doing regarding education.

“The governor has gone much higher than we projected in 2006 in terms of the expansion of educational web. I have to thank you sincerely and for today, for this initiative because most problems we have in governance, is to come up with a good idea but how will that endure in most cases, immediately you leave the system collapses.

“By setting up a board, established by law for the educational development trust fund , he has made this to endure beyond his eight and that really makes me very happy, I have two meetings with the board and I promised that even my foundation as little as we are will continue to partner with this trust fund board”.

Dickson after speaking had earlier invited Jonathan to the podium to make his remarks and stood beside the former President throughout his speech.

Jonathan also accepted an appointment from the governor to serve as an Honorary Special Adviser to the board on fund donations and promised to use his contacts to attract funds to the board.

Many people, however, believe that unfolding events in the build up to the November governorship election especially in the PDP will determine whether the cordial relationship between Jonathan and Dickson will last beyond the launch of the trust

PoliticsThe Yoruba Deserve 2023 Presidency, The Igbo Are Not A Serious People by engreo(op): 7:43pm On May 17, 2019
I have written a couple of essays, expounding the reasons the Igbo deserve the 2023 presidency and why all Nigerians of dispassionate interest and untainted conscience must support the group in actualising this noble goal. I still believe, for the sake national cohesion, the southeast region deserves a shot at the presidency. But it appears they are not ready for it.

BY FREDRICK NWABUFO. MAY 17, 2019

There is nothing as fatal as a blow from a “consanguineal fist”. A cut from a “sibling” hurts deeper than that from a stranger. I have been inflicted severe cuts – caustic verbal attacks - by some Igbo persons for advocating a president of Igbo extraction in 2023. While some of them are irritated by the attention that I have been able to generate for the cause, a few others see the “advocacy” as a means of cutting deals for filthy lucre.

The fiercest opposition to the cause, “president of Igbo extraction in 2023”, has been the people for which it is championed – the Igbo. While some of my kinsmen argued that they want restructuring and not the presidency, a great number of them say that they only want to “secure Igbo-land economically, politically and security-wise.” But when you ask them, how they intend to actualise these “dreams”, they just let off inchoate pieces of babble. As a matter of fact, most of these objurgators are just fortune seekers pinning and angling to benefit from “anything Igbo.”

I recall when Ifeanyi Uba, senator-elect, Anambra South, was trying to make an inroad into the fold of the dominant party at the national assembly, he was brutally hacked down with vicious criticisms by his own people. I have reflected pensively on what the Igbo political agenda could be, but at every point I become sectioned with a brain gay. What do the Igbo really want?

I have written a couple of essays, expounding the reasons the Igbo deserve the 2023 presidency and why all Nigerians of dispassionate interest and untainted conscience must support the group in actualising this noble goal. I still believe, for the sake national cohesion, the southeast region deserves a shot at the presidency. But it appears they are not ready for it.

In my essay, ‘With Buhari’s 4+4, Igbo presidency in 2023 is now non-negotiable’, I wrote: “I believe healing will begin for Nigerians when political justice is seen to have been done to all. At that point we can build a country defiant to disunity. But political justice must be done to all to get to this stage.”

However, I failed to add: “Political justice must be demanded when it is not given”. How can justice be done to a people who have resigned to hopeless fate? How can a people who are stuck in political stasis be called to the table for negotiations? How can a people who are on the path of no certain destination be taken seriously?

Really, I was surprised at the reactions to the essay by most Nigerians from the north and the south-west. I have messages from reputable Nigerians across ethnic divides in my phone log, telling me that it will be grave injustice if the Igbo are schemed out of the 2023 presidential race. I remember one retired general asked at the end of his message to me, “But what is the southeast doing about the 2023 presidency?” I only responded with a “smiley OMG”. But the answer to that is, “nothing; just whining, blowing hot air, fantasising about restructuring and mouthing off about Biafra”.

Luck is when opportunity meets preparation. I can see the southwest positioning itself strategically and making the necessary noise and calculated connections for a 2023 presidential bid. I cannot begrudge a people who are resolute about what they want, and who are, most importantly, feisty about their destiny. The cake will certainly be taken by a fiercer cat; it will not be handed to a gutless kitten.

You can demand political justice when it is not given; injustice only persists because you allow it.

PoliticsReconcile With Asari Dokubo, Ohanaze Begs Nnamdi Kanu by engreo(op): 7:42pm On May 08, 2019
The leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide on Wednesday urged the Leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)to reconcile with Niger Delta Leader, Asari Dokubo.

The group, in a statement by its President General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, also expressed surprise on alleged federal government negotiation with leadership of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) to end kidnapping and killings in the country.

It said the government should also dialogue with Biafra agitators who it said were not violent like the herdsmen.

The group said: “IPOB should make peace with Asari Dokubo urgently as the rift is threatening the bond and partnership existing between the South East and South/South.

“Since after the war, the two regions had been enjoying the harmonious relationship between them, so we advocate that IPOB should extend hands of friendship to Asari Dokubo, as we will not allow any misunderstanding between Nnamdi Kanu and Asari Dokubo escalate, and IPOB should use the May 30th to mend fence with ex Niger Delta Agitators rather than Sit at home,” the youths said.

They also called on the federal government to negotiate with the proscribed members of IPOB, Movement for Actualisation of Sovereign States of Biafra (MASSOB) and other Biafra agitators to end the Biafra agitation.

The youths noted 30th of this month when the Biafra agitators will be celebrating Biafra day was an opportunity the federal government have to dialogue with the agitators.

“We are surprised on the meeting between Federal Government represented by Minister of Interior Abdul-Rahman Dambazau and the leadership of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN)where a huge carrot is thrown to the herdsmen group to help stop kidnapping and tackle insecurity and clashes between Herdsmen and farmers. The Federal Government should also extend the same gesture of N100bn to The leadership of Massob and Ipob. What is good for the goose is also good for the gander.

“As Biafrans are celebrating the May 30th Remembrance day, the Federal Government has the opportunity and visible channel to negotiate with the leadership of MASSOB and other Biafra agitators.

“Reaching out to Biafra agitators are imminent to scuttle the mayhem likely to occur over the killings of Igbo’s in the North by Armed herdsmen and bandits.

“It’s on record that about 167 Igbo have fell victims of Armed herdsmen and bandits in North West and East in the last few weeks, tension is building up in the South East ahead of May 30th Biafra remembrance day, Presidency should give Biafrans N100bn to avoid reprisal attacks”.

PoliticsCheck Out 10 Men Tinubu Has Helped Become Who They Are In Nigeria Politics by engreo(op): 4:02pm On May 05, 2019
Former Lagos State Governor and National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu is believed in many quarters to have played a significant part in the emergence of President Muhammadu Buhari after three earlier failed attempts.
While Buhari had been unable to get needed significant votes from the South West when contested at previous times under the platforms of the All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP (twice), and the Congress of Progressives Change, CPC in 2003, 2007 and 2011, the alliance with Tinubu’s Action Congress of Nigeria was the joker.
In 2015, Buhari won in five of the six South Western states, the only exception being Ekiti state. This can very well to attested to Tinubu’s influence.
Asides helping Buhari, Tinubu has also helped many many become what they are all over the country today. We bring you some of those men.

1. Yemi Osinbajo

Which name will first readily come to your mind for people in this category if not that of Yemi Osinbajo? The Ikenne born Professor of law, though an in-law of late sage, Obafemi Awolowo would most probably have ended his life in the classrooms, breeding new sets of lawyers of not for Tinubu.
Between 1999 and 2007, he served Tinubu who was then Lagos state governor as the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, quickly become a trusted ally of the Jagaban of Borgu.
When leaders of the APC was shopping for a running mate for President Buhari, who was then the party’s flagbearer, Tinubu forwarded Osinbajo’s name, and the rest like they say is history.

2. Babajide Sanwo-Olu

If the name Babajide Sanwo-Olu was mentioned this time last year anywhere, it will ring no bell, as it was take intense search on the popular search engine, Google for you to have any information about him. Fast-forward to now, and he will be sworn in as the governor of Lagos state in less than 30 days.
A Quantity Surveying graduate of the University of Lagos, Sanwo-Olu’s foray into politics started in 2003, when he was appointed Special Adviser on Corporate Matters to the then deputy governor of Lagos State, Femi Pedro, under the governorship of Tinubu at only 38 years old.
Tinubu then made him Acting Commissioner for Economic Planning and later Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, a position he held until the end of Tinubu’s tenure in 2007.
When Tinubu’s successor, Babatunde Fashola assumed office May 2007, he appointed Sanwo-Olu Commissioner for Establishments, Training and Pensions. Fashola’s successor, Akinwunmi Ambode also appointed Sanwo-Olu Managing Director/CEO of the Lagos State Development and Property Corporation (LSDPC).

Sanwo-Olu shot into limelight September 16, 2018 when he declared his interest to contest the governorship primaries of the APC in Lagos State against incumbent, Ambode. events that followed later, revealed that he had the full support of Tinubu who had already fell out with Ambode, another man he helped install.
Sanwo-Olu eventually won the primaries, and went ahead to win the March 9 governorship election in the state, defeating perennial contestant Jimi Agbaje of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

3. Akinwunmi Ambode

Against all odds, Akinwunmi Ambode, a retired Permanent Secretary in the Lagos State Civil Service emerged the governorship candidate of the APC in the 2015 governorship election against the wishes of incumbent, Babatunde Fashola. He was the choice of Tinubu who ensured he defeated all other aspirants who were obviously stronger than him in the party’s primaries.
Ambode eventually won the election, and is the outgoing governor of the state.
Things however went from good to bad for him after falling out with his benefactor, Tinubu, who dumped him, and picked Sanwo-Olu in his stead.

4. Babatunde Fashola

Babatunde Fashola served in Tinubu’s government as his Chief of Staff between 2003 and 2007. Tinubu thereafter rewarded him, by handpicking him as his successor in the 2007 governorship election in the state, flying the flag of the Action Congress.
Fashola who is regarded by many as the best of the governors Lagos has had however was rumoured to have ran into troubled waters with Tinubu towards the end of his first term, with news going round that the House of Assembly was preparing to impeach him. Tinubu however cleared all doubts when he endorsed him for a second term in office.
The former governor of Lagos state is presently the Minister of Works, Power and Housing.

5. Kayode Fayemi

Kayode Fayemi first became well known for the part he played in Nigeria’s return to democratic rule. He was said to be the face behind the then Radio Kudirat.
Fayemi was eventually picked by Tinubu to run for the governorship of Ekiti state under the platform of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN in the 2007 governorship election. He won through the Appeal Court after the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC declared Segun Oni of the PDP winner of the election.
Fayemi is in his second term in office, after failing on the first try to secure second term, losing the 2012 governorship election to Ayodele Fayose.

6. Rauf Aregbesola

Till date, Rauf Aregbesola remains one of the most loyal foot soldiers of Tinubu. Believed to be the one who had control over Alimosho local government, the LGA with the largest voting strength in Lagos, Aregbesola served as Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure to Tinubu.
In 2007, he was drafted to Osun state, where he contested the governorship election of the state under the platform of the ACN. He was declared winner by the Court of Appeal three years later after a protracted battle with PDP candidate, Olagunsoye Oyinlola.
Aregbesola recently concluded his tenure as governor, after ruling the state for two terms.

7. Lai Mohammed

Lai Mohammed preceded Fashola as Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, staying in office between 1999 and 2003, before going to contest the governorship election of Kwara state, his home state under the platform of the Alliance for Democracy. He however lost to Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Candidate of the PDP.
He was thereafter appointed Publicity Secretary of the Action Congress in Lagos state, before becoming the spokesman of the party which later became the ACN at the National level. When the ACN metamorphosed into the APC through merger, Mohammed also emerged National Publicity Secretary of the party, being very vocal against former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.

8. Ade Ipaye

Ade Ipaye is the Deputy Chief of Staff to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, the same man he replaced as the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Lagos State.
But before former Governor Fashola appointed Ipaye as his Justice Commissioner, it was Tinubu that took the law lecturer at the University of Lagos from the classroom to the corridors of power. During Tinubu’s eight year reign as governor of the state, Ipaye served as Special Assistant on Legal Affairs between May 2001 and May 2003, and was moved up the ladder by Tinubu, who made him his Senior Special Assistant on Legal Matters.

9. Gboyega Oyetola

Believed to be Tinubu’s cousin, Oyetola had been Aregbesola’s Chief of Staff since 2010 when he was Osun state governor.
He picked the ticked of the APC for the governorship election of the state in 2018, and was declared winner by INEC.
He is presently the governor of Osun state.

10. Femi Gbajabiamila

Femi Gbajabiamila, Majority Leader of the House of Representatives is set to return for the fifth time this year, and is contesting for the speakership position.
He through the support of Tinubu won the ticket the first time in 2003, and has been there ever since.

PoliticsNigeria Isn't The Only Corrupt Nation In The World, Says Peter Obi by engreo(op):
It is not possible to have a nation of saints. Such a nation does not exist and we cannot claim to be saints. In trying to rid the society of corruption, we have to pursue the vision of building a nation.

Peter Obi, the Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 general election, says Nigeria is not the only corrupt country in the world, hence the government should pay less attention to the fight against corruption.

Speaking in an interview with The Sun newspaper, the former Governor said Nigeria’s economy is deteriorating because the present government chose to focus on “yesterday instead of focusing on tomorrow”.

He said: “Nigeria is not the only ‘corrupt’ country in the world and it is not the most corrupt. Big nations, such as China and India were, at a time, far more corrupt than we are now. It is not possible to have a nation of saints. Such a nation does not exist and we cannot claim to be saints. In trying to rid the society of corruption, we have to pursue the vision of building a nation.

“The future of the nation is far more important. You must draw a line between yesterday and today. What is more important is to secure today, while gradually trying to recover what you lost in the past. If you are focused on the past, you will miss tomorrow. Our economy is getting worse because we are focused on yesterday instead of focusing on tomorrow.

“I have been a governor for eight years where I inherited schools that were not working. As you know, schools in Anambra were shut down in 2001. We were backward in education and health and the state owed several years of gratuity. My predecessor started some work on the roads, which was very good and I commend him for it. But in the eight years of my administration, we became number one in education. We won the Bill Gates award for health. We had the best road network and we became the best in financial management. If we were focused on the past when schools were shut, we would not have achieved all that.”

He opined that the best way to fight corruption is to ensure that funds are used exactly for what they are meant for.

Obi further stated that unemployment is the most important challenge that should be given utmost attention.

He said: “Unemployment is the number one problem the country is facing and must be dealt with immediately. Unemployment is a far bigger threat than corruption and I will tell you why. The most productive asset of a country is the human being. We now have 21 million unemployed youths in their productive age; that is why this country is suffering from low production because our tax to GDP is too low. Taxation and employment are related. The more productive people are, the more tax you can get from them as revenue. You can’t tax people who have no job or savings. I have been at a place where a man brought a huge bale of used underwear and lots of people were rushing to buy from him.

“So, for people to go and do that, it means they cannot afford to buy a new one. All I am saying is that we need to do something drastic about unemployment. Employment is what is going to turn our economy around and it is not rocket science. This has been done in countries, like India and China. Less than 10 years ago, Nigeria was number four in the total number of people living in poverty; India was number one and China was number two.

“Today, Nigeria is not just number one, but there are more poor people living in Nigeria than India and China combined. India and China’s population is almost three billion, so we are not even up to 10 per cent of both and we have more poor people living in our country than both of them combined. Between 2000 and 2015, China pulled out 439 million people out of poverty.

“Corruption has nothing to do with unemployment. Economies are driven by the private sector. In India, they brought a First Class professor from Oxford to be their Prime Minister and he contributed his quota, but the revolution in India today is being led by somebody who came from the system. They saw what he was able to do in his region and brought him to the centre. In our own case, somebody comes from the moon and starts promising heaven. Everybody believes him, but when you put him there, he is confused.

“So, we need to change our leadership recruitment process and recruit people who have ideas and can also have the political will to take decisions and follow them through. We should also recruit leaders who have record of past performance that is verifiable. It is not about someone that speaks grammar in conferences. I do not think any country holds more conferences and prayer warriors than Nigeria, but see our situation."

PoliticsTinubu-ojo Instals Computer Village Market Leaders by engreo(op): 7:10am On May 03, 2019
The President-General, Association of Commodity Market Women and Men of Nigeria, Mrs Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, on Thursday installed Mr Adeniyi Olasoji and Mrs Abisola Azeez as ”Babaloja”and ”Iyaloja”of the popular Computer Village.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Tinubu-Ojo installed the market leaders at an elaborate ceremony in Ikeja.

Recall that some traders had staged protests at the market on Tuesday, kicking against the planned installation of the market leaders.

They had claimed that Computer Village is an international market and that the titles of ”Babaloja” and ”Iyaloja” were only suited for markets where commodities like pepper and onions are sold.

The protesters, who paralysed activities at the market for hours, also claimed the market leaders were imposed on them.

They said people outside of the market had no right to choose leaders for them.

But Tinubu-Ojo at a news conference on Wednesday had described the protests as ill-informed.

She had claimed that, as the leader of all commodities traders, it was within her powers to appoint leaders for any market, including Computer Village.

The market leader denied imposing leaders on the traders, saying she only endorsed the traders within the market that were chosen by stakeholders as leaders.

She alleged that some officials of Computer Dealers and Allied Products Association of Nigeria(CAPDAN),whose tenure she claimed had expired, were behind the protests.

The market leader alleged that the objective of the sponsors of the protests was to perpetuate themselves in power.

At the installation ceremony, Tinubu-Ojo urged the market leaders to see their installation as an opportunity to serve the traders.

While praying that they succeed in their responsibilities, she urged them to give their best to impact greatly on the traders and the market.

Tinubu-Ojo pledged her support for the installed market leaders to enable them to succeed.

Speaking to newsmen after the ceremony, she said the aggrieved CAPDAN officials had visited her on issues surrounding the installation of the new market leaders.

Tinubu-Ojo said she expressed her displeasure over the protests during her meeting with them and that she blamed them for taking the action instead of engaging her in talks.

She said discussions to iron out all issues with the other party were still on-going.

”I don’t have any issues with them (protesters), they have been here; they came yesterday after I addressed the press and they related their position.

”In fact, the former President of CAPDAN, Mr Adeniyi Ojikutu, came this morning. We talked at length and the next thing for us is to call another meeting.

”I don’t have issues with them. The only thing was that, they should have come here instead of carrying placards when they got the information that there was going to be installation.

”They should have come to have a chat with me and perhaps, we may have ironed out issues and understood each other.

”Disagreements are bound to happen, there is no way we won’t step on each others’ toes in offices, markets and so on, but the ability to manage the crisis is what matters, which is the next line of action.

”I have even told the Iyaloja and Babaloja I installed today that we are still going to revisit the issues with the other people at a round table,” she said.

NAN reports that the installation was graced by many colourfully dressed market women who sang and danced in celebration of the new leaders. (NAN)

FamilyRe: I Cheated On My Husband With A Guy From Work And I Don't Know What To Do. by engreo(m): 10:26am On May 01, 2019
Marbella003:
I have a main account but I decided to create this one to post this in order to avoid embarrassment or reveal my identity.

I got married 4 years ago to my husband. He was in his 40s and I was in my 20s. The age difference between us has never really been a problem as we are both educated, well spoken, have similar personalities and share a lot of interests, and as a result we mesh well. My husband is a very caring and thoughtful man. This is one of the traits that made me fall helplessly for him, along with his intelligence and fun personality. I will not reveal anything pertaining to kids as this might punch a hole in my wall of anonymity.

I've always loved my husband and I still do. But I've never really been sexually attracted to him. This is not to say that I find him unattractive. No. He is okay as far as physical appearance goes, but his look has never been the kind to turn me on sexually. To put it plainly, I find that I'm only sexually attracted to young men around my age with tall, athletic bodies and with the energy and agility to please a woman satisfyingly in the bedroom. I met this kind of man in my work place and after we talked a few times I couldn't help but become attracted to him. I realized he was also attracted me, and fast forward to a week ago, we had sex in a hotel room.

I'm ashamed to admit that sex with him was glorious, but it truly was. It was better than anything I had ever done with my husband. I loved how he tossed me around the bed and did stuff to me that my husband doesn't do and I liked how ever part of his body felt firm and strong. After the act I felt a wave of shame wash over me. I recognized that I had committed an atrocity and I knew I had broken my marriage vows. The guilt of what I had done followed me around like a stench. I hated myself for betraying a man that had always loved and cared for me.

The problem I now face is that despite the guilt and the shame I constantly feel, I still yearn to experience another period of sexual bliss with my colleague. I can't help it. I'm torn. I already told my colleague that that one time was the last but deep down I don't want it to be. I know that if I tell my husband about what I did, that it would mark the end of my relationship with my colleague, but I don't know exactly how my husband would receive this information. I don't want him to look at me and see a betrayer of trust; a woman lacking integrity and virtue. No. I even thought of resigning from my job or requesting a transfer so as not to be in close proximity with my colleague but I know that wouldn't solve anything as I still have his social media info and occasionally stalk him(yes I do). I'm so conflicted. I don't know what to do.
someone has helped you shared it on facebook too. This is the link for more advice from people https://www.gistreel.com/i-cheated-on-my-husband-with-a-colleague-at-work-nigerian-lady-cries-out/

PoliticsFresh Cracks In PDP Over Lawan, Goje, Ndume by engreo(op): 8:22am On Apr 28, 2019
Differences among incoming federal legislators elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over who to support for Senate President and House of Representatives Speaker in June are not about to abate any moment soon, an investigation has revealed.

The PDP, according to multiple sources, is mobilizing its members to vote against the official candidates of the APC for the two positions to put the opposition party in a position to influence decision in the legislature.

One of the options being considered by the PDP is to sponsor the pair of Alhaji Danjuma Goje as Senate President and Chief Ike Ekweremadu as his deputy.

Some other PDP leaders are suggesting either Sen. Ali Ndume-Ekweremadu mandate or Sen. Abdullahi Adamu-Ekweremadu ticket.

But several incoming PDP federal lawmakers are not convinced that their party’s plot will sail through.

Several meetings by the legislators-elect convened to resolve the issues have failed as they could not agree on zoning the minority offices or allowing the current leadership of the party’s caucuses in the national assembly to continue when the 9th assembly commences.

It was gathered that while the PDP hierarchy favours the retention of the current leadership of the party caucuses in the national assembly, the majority of the legislators-elect are rooting for a new order.

Another meeting held in Abuja last week to address the issues ended without a concrete agreement on the matters discussed.

“We are yet to agree on the national assembly leadership questions,” a member at the last meeting said.

He added: “In fact, a new dimension was introduced into it at the Abuja meeting. A group of senators are now agitating that the minority leadership must be returned to the South-south geo-political zone from where it was taken away following the defection of Senator Godswill Akpabio to the APC.

“Members-elect from the Southwest are also asking questions about what will be the place of the zone in the leadership arrangement.

“I can recall that the issue of how the zone was allegedly schemed out of the race for national chairmanship was revived as part of the many arguments now going on within our party.”

The PDP may also have jettisoned the idea of making Ekweremadu minority leader in the event that the bid to make return him as deputy senate president fails.

The party, sources said, was swayed on the matter by the strong opposition of the majority of the legislators elect to the idea.

“That was suggested but I don’t think it is on the table again. Majority of us are opposed to the idea,” our source said.

“We still need to agree on a lot of things.

“I can tell you for example that it is not true that all of us want to work with Senator Danjuma Goje as being reported.

“Many of us would rather have PDP support someone like Senator Ali Ndume. And this was raised when we met. Those supporting Goje are largely current Senators many of whom are not returning to the national assembly.

“It is our own opinion that we do not want to be seen as fighting the battles of some ex-Senators when we resume. We want to be seen as our own men.

“Goje is widely believed to be negotiating with the current leadership of the senate for a deal. That is not the opinion or position of many of us. Ndume represents something fresh and we will prefer that. But unfortunately, the public is being made to believe Goje is our choice.”

The Nation was also informed of the existence of another group of PDP legislators-elect who are opposed to the idea of a deal with any APC senator against Senator Ahmed Lawan.

This group, according to party sources, has been impressing it on the leadership of the party that none of the APC senators threatening to oppose Lawan can deliver the needed APC votes to make any alliance work against the ruling party in the 9th assembly.

A PDP national officer from the Southwest said the lawmakers are more opened to the offers being made towards the opposition legislators by Lawan and Femi Gabjabiamila.

“They think it is better to strike deals that will see the APC and PDP sharing committee positions in a manner that will enable them work together amicably than working on plots that will further factionalise the national assembly when they resume.”

“Many of them are openly condemning the hard line stance of the current leadership of the national assembly.”

“I have heard PDP legislators-elect advice against a national assembly leadership that will be opposed to everything about the executive arm of government. They want an end to the current hostility between the presidency and the national assembly. It may be difficult to get such persons to back the ongoing plot.”

The Nation however gathered that the leadership of the PDP is determined to ensure that legislators-elect on the platform of the party are united ahead of the inauguration of the 9th assembly. This, according to party sources, is necessary considering the desire of the opposition party to play a role in the emergence of the leadership of the next national assembly.

“We are talking to our lawmakers-elect. We are optimistic that we will go into the 9th assembly as a united bloc. It is a very important issue to us and we will do everything possible to achieve that unity. Don’t forget that the PDP as a virile opposition party is desirous of influencing the process that will produce the leadership of the 9th assembly,” one of our sources added.

PoliticsNASS Leadership Tussle: EFCC Moves To Stop Goje Over Alleged Forgery by engreo(op): 7:23am On Apr 28, 2019
By Abdul Lateef Taiwo

These are not the best time for Senator Danjuma Goje, Gombe Central Senatorial district and chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) has filed a cross-appeal at the Court of Appeal sitting in Jos, Plateau State capital, against the judgment of a Federal High Court in Gombe that partially upheld a no-case submission by former Governor Danjuma Goje.

The commission tried Goje and two others — Alhaji Aliyu El-Nafaty and Dokoro Gombe (alias S.M Dokoro) — on an amended N5billion fraud charge.

Making his claim through Wahab Shittu, the EFCC prosecuting counsel, the commission said Goje, between September and November 2010, allegedly forged a document titled ‘Resolution authorising His Excellency the Executive Governor of Gombe State to acquire a loan of N5,000,000,000.00 only’, with Ref. No: GM/HA/RES/VOL. 1/17.

The commission said the resolution was purportedly signed by Shehu Atiku, Clerk of the Gombe State House of Assembly, with the intent that it be acted on as genuine by Access Bank Plc.

The N5 billion facility was obtained from Access Bank by the Goje administration for infrastructural projects.

EFCC said its investigations on the loan revealed that the purported House resolution authorizing it was forged; the approval did not pass through the right processes.

Ruling on Goje’s no-case submission on March 22, Justice O. B. Quadri dismissed 19 of the 21-count charge.

Goje filed an appeal to challenge the court’s refusal to uphold his no-case submission in its entirety.

In its cross-appeal, EFCC faulted lower court ruling on several grounds.

The commission said the lower court embarked on an extensive evaluation of evidence, including the credibility of prosecution witnesses in its ruling.

“The court at the stage of no-case submission is not expected to consider the credibility of witnesses or evaluate the evidence,” Shittu said.

Also cited as evidence against the ruling of the lower court was that it ignored prima facie evidential materials contained in several exhibits tendered before it.

The EFCC counsel added that the court failed to consider that the N5 billion facility did not comply with rules for capital expenditure.

He said the court also ignored the fact that the purported resolution authorising the loan was forged.

After highlighting several other errors by the lower court, Shittu urged the Court of Appeal to set aside aspects of the ruling sustaining Goje’s no-case submission, and also asked for an order directing the defendants to enter their defence in respect of the counts for which they were discharged.

The fresh charge against the embattled former governor of Gombe State is coming on the heel of the reported ambition of the former governor to run for the President of the Senate.

Last week justice Babatunde Quadiri, of the High Court Jos, ruled that, out of the 21- Count Charge preferred against Senator Danjuma Goje, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,( EFCC) for an alleged money laundry and diversion of the state ‘s fund, as the governor of Gombe State, that the embattled senator has questions to answer on 2 count charge that verges on corruption.

Indeed in an event, perspective watchers agree that Goje, had for some times been craving for the leadership of the National Assembly and that has not been giving the Leadership of the All Progressive Congress( APC) any comfort.

Danjuma Goje, a craftiness personified, he loves the limelight and would do anything to remain there but the former governor who now seems to understand that the forces are against him would just do anything to make it look as if he loathed the limelight.

Aljazirah Nigeria gathered that while Goje, was working on his plan, powerful forces were said to be aligning to pull a fast one on him. One of such was the fresh charge against him.

CrimeHerdsmen Killing Us And Raping Our Wives- Anambra Youths by engreo(op): 10:28am On Apr 23, 2019
Scores of youths from Anambra West  Local Government Area of  Anambra State on Monday protested against the alleged raping of women in the area by suspected  Fulani herdsmen.
The youths from  Anam and Igala communities also alleged that  Fulani herdsmen had killed and maimed some people in the area.
The placard-carrying protesters, who converged on Umueze Anam Bridge, vowed to resist further attacks by the herdsmen.
They said, “How can they be raping our mothers, wives and sisters in our presence almost on a  daily basis? Enough is enough.”
Some of their placards read, “Silent killing of our people by Fulani herdsmen on  the farms and our villages are still going on”,   “We are running out of patience with the violent activities of Fulani herdsmen in Anambra West”, “Pushing us to the wall will bring mayhem”, enough of the killing of our people”,  “Police and Army are only protecting herdsmen while they are killing our people”
They called on President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Willie Obiano to intervene.
Spokesman for the group, Odikpo Madubueze,   said, “We are just respecting Governor Obiano that is why we have not confronted these herdsmen.  If they continue what they are doing, we will confront them and it will be bloody and we’re sure at the end of the clash no herdsman will ever come to Anambra West again.”
He added, “We are disappointed that the government is paying lip service to this issue. The visitors will come here to rape our mothers, wives, sisters, attack and kill our people. We can no longer tolerate these.“
Obiano should intervene now; we do not want to create any embarrassing situation for him, but we expect him to act now.“
We do not want to take the law into our own hands, but the federal and Anambra state governments should not allow us to engage in violence; they (herdsmen) have humiliated us enough and many of our people who are predominantly farmers have abandoned their farms.“
We cannot run away from our farms and villages because of people we decided to accommodate to do their cattle  business.

EducationThree Nigerian Boys Developed App To Curb Underage Smoking by engreo(op): 10:01pm On Apr 05, 2019
Three Nigerian boys from Dansol High School in Lagos have developed an application that helps monitor data of electronic cigarette smokers in the US.

This is coming at a time when another four boys made the country proud after winning bronze medal at the recently concluded International Festival of Engineering, Science & Technology (I-FEST) held in Tunisia.

The students — Oluwatunmise Ayeni, Rotimi Adegbiji and Egie Akede — designed the ‘RET-Vape Selling App’ to help the US government regulate the purchase of e-cigarettes.

The ‘RET-Vape Selling App’ also helps the government to better monitor and regulate the purchase of e-cigarettes by producing individualized data.

The app can be used to end underage smoking since it can recognise the age of prospective buyers, flag ineligible and underage smokers, and also serve as a source of smoking history for hospitals and regulatory agencies.

The trio, who founded a company named ‘RET Innovate,’ participated in the Conrad Spirit of Innovation Challenge, and qualified for the final stage of the competition.

As a 2018-2019 Conrad Challenge finalist under the ‘smoke-free world’ category of the competition, the RET Innovate team will proceed to represent Nigeria at the 2019 Florida’s innovation summit on April 23.

The team will be competing with about 36 students’ innovators from across for seed funding, partnerships and the challenge’s top honour.

The young Nigerian boys also said that efforts are ongoing to develop a Nigerian version of the application to assist the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in the fight against underage smoking.

The Conrad Challenge is an annual, multi-phase innovation and entrepreneurial competition that encourages young adults to engage science, technology and creativity for solving societal issues.

CultureThe Story Of Oyotunji, A Mini Yoruba Nation In America by engreo(op): 8:09am On Mar 26, 2019
The story of Oyotunji, a mini Yoruba nation in America
During the slave trade era, many Africans were taken as slave abroad. While going, some left with their culture and tradition which they continued with in the strange land where they found themselves. They continued with the culture and tradition of their fathers so as to maintain their identity.

The Yorubas in slavery are among the Africans that maintained their culture in the strange land and it was handed down to their children from generation to generation. Many of their children, after the abolition of the slave trade, have married children of their former masters thus having children of mixed blood, that notwithstanding, they still carry on with their African culture in the foreign land since most of them cannot trace their root back to Africa. The Yoruba culture has been one of the prominent and most celebrated one throughout the world till date.

In faraway United States of America, there is a Yoruba community named Oyotunji African Village. It is located near Sheldon, Beaufort County, South Carolina. Oyotunji is regarded as North America’s oldest authentic African village. It was founded in 1970 and is the first intentional community in North America, based on the culture of the Yoruba and Dahomey tribes of West Africa. It has survived 48 years of sustaining the Yoruba traditional sociology and values in the diaspora. The village is named after the Oyo Empire, and the name literally means “Oyo returns” or “Oyo rises again” or “Oyo resurrects”. The village occupies 27 acres of land.

Oyotunji was founded by His Royal Highness Oba (King) Waja, Ofuntola Oseijeman Adelabu Adefunmi I, was born Walter Eugene King on October 5, 1928, in Detroit, Michigan, USA. A graduate from Cass Technical High School, Oba Waja’s exposure to African religion began when he became associated with the Katherine Dunham Dance Troupe at the age of 20. He later travelled to Haiti where he discovered more about the Yoruba culture. Armed with a new understanding of the African culture, he found the order of Damballah Hwedo, Ancestor Priests in Harlem NY.

On August 26, 1959, Oba Waja became the first African born in America to become fully initiated into the Orisa-Vodun African priesthood by African Cubans in Matanzas, Cuba. This marked the beginning of the spread of Yoruba religion and culture among African Americans. He later found the Sango Temple in New York and incorporated the African Theological Arch Ministry in 1960. The Sango Temple was relocated and renamed the Yoruba Temple.

In 1970, Oba Waja found the Yoruba Village of Oyotunji in Beaufort County, South Carolina, and began the careful re-organisation of the Orisa-Vodu Priesthood along traditional Nigerian lines. To further his knowledge of Yoruba culture, he travelled to Abeokuta in Nigeria in 1972 where he was initiated into the Ifa priesthood by the Oluwa of Ijeun at Abeokuta, Ogun state, in August of 1972. He was later proclaimed Alase (Oba-King) of the Yoruba of North America at Oyotunji Village in 1972.

He passed away on Thursday, February 10th 2005 at Oyotunji African Village in Beaufort County, South Carolina.
And Since Adefunmi’s death in 2005, the village has been led by his son, Oba Adejuyigbe Adefunmi II..till date

CrimeTwo Sentenced To Death In Ondo For Armed Robbery by engreo(op): 3:28pm On Jan 05, 2019
An Ondo State High Court sitting in Olokuta, Akure, the state capital, has sentenced two persons, Tobechukwu Aguonu and Uche Igwe, to death by hanging after finding them guilty of armed robbery.

The convicts were dragged before the court after being arrested by men of the state police command for being involved in armed robbery in November 2016.

They reportedly robbed one Augustine Okolie of his vehicle, money and other valuables at Olu Foam area of Akure at gunpoint.

They were arraigned on two counts of conspiracy and armed robbery to which they pleaded not guilty.

During the trial, Okolie’s family testified against the duo, explaining how they attacked and robbed them of the valuables. The police witnesses invited to testify in the case also claimed to have retrieved two expended cartridges used by the robbers.

Following the testimonies of the witnesses, the trial judge, Justice Yemi Fasanmi, held that there was indeed an armed robbery attack on the couple, saying the defendants used firearms to terrorise their victims.

The judge also held that “the prosecuting counsel had proved that there was an armed robbery case beyond reasonable doubt.”

Fasanmi added that the stolen vehicle recovered from the convicts in Anambra State also served as a proof of their involvement in the crime.

Delivering his judgment, Fasanmi ruled that they were guilty as charged and sentenced them to death by hanging.
