The Nigeria Football Federation says there has been a brawl
at its headquarters after a group of rival officials who claim
they should be in charge broke into the building.
The NFF said in a statement that its head spokesman and
another of its staff members traded punches with one of the
men who forced their way in. The NFF says members of its
staff were pushed around and harassed.
The NFF released a photograph which it claims shows the
front door of the building after it was broken by the rival
officials, who were accompanied by "thugs."

offices on Friday. pic.twitter.com/vl4NxImIc1
- The NFF (@thenff) June 3, 2016
The leader of the rival group, Christopher Giwa, claims he
should be president of the NFF, but FIFA has backed the
current NFF leadership and president Amaju Pinnick.
Last month, Giwa, Muazu Suleyman, Yahaya Adama, Sani
Fema and Effiong Johnson were all given five-year bans by
the NFF's Disiciplinary Committee.
The NFF says Giwa's group misrepresented themselves as
the NFF while hiring a legal firm in Johannesburg and
accruing bills of up to $100,000, which they have refused to
pay, leading to legal action against the NFF.
The rogue group claims they were elected into the executive
committee of the NFF in August 2014. That election was not
recognised by FIFA, which ordered fresh elections that
subsequently produced the current administration led by
Pinnick.
FIFA's decision was challenged by Giwa at the Court of
Arbitration for Sport, which ruled in favour of FIFA.

Barcelona will face Atletico Madrid in the Champions League
quarterfinal draw, while Paris Saint-Germain will take on
Manchester City.
Wolfsburg will face Real Madrid while Bayern Munich drew
Portuguese side Benfica.
Barca, who were eliminated by Atletico at the same stage in
the 2013-14 season, are seeking to become the first ever
team to retain the Champions League after last season's
Treble. French champions PSG, meanwhile, face English opposition once more after their success over Chelsea in the previous round. The two teams have met only once previously, in the 2008-09 UEFA Cup, when they drew 0-0. Real Madrid have been handed a favourable draw against Wolfsburg, currently mid-table in the Bundesliga, after the German side beat Gent in the previous round. Bayern Munich will take on Benfica after their dramatic victory over last season's beaten finalists Juventus in the round of 16. Ties to be played April 5/6 and 12/13: Source m.espn.go.com/soccer/story?storyId=2829378&top&wjb= |

A Federal High Court says it will on January 29 rule on the bail application by Mr Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra. standing trial was a bailable one. However, the Director of Public Prosecution, who represented the Federal Government, asked the court to refuse bail on the grounds that the offence for which Mr Kanu and his co-accused were standing trial was a serious offense. He also told the court that if granted bail, the accused would interfere with witnesses and evidence. Having heard the two parties, the trial judge fixed the ruling on the bail application for January 29. Last week, a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja ordered that Mr Kanu, who had been on detention, be remanded in prison custody pending the hearing and determination of his bail application. Justice James Tsoho gave the order shortly after Mr Kanu and two others pleaded not guilty to a six-count charge of treasonable felony and illegal importation of a radio transmitter preferred against them by the Federal Government. http://www.channelstv.com/2016/01/25/court-to-give-ruling-on-nnamdi-kanus-bail-application-january-29/ |
