It was conceived, financed and constructed as a Dangote project long before Tinubu became president. Dangote's own corporate history identifies the refinery as a 2023 project, while its operations began in January 2024.

So attaching the refinery's existence or development to Tinubu personally is misleading. You can credit any government for policies or support that affected its operations, but the refinery itself is Dangote's investment, not Tinubu's achievement.

It is not misleading to attach Tinubu to the success of the refinery. You are just a bad belly. Go and ask Dangote the role played by Tinubu in establishing the refinery. Your belly ache cannot change history.

I was engaging my Chinese partner today on WhatsApp. She told me she's on her way home. She stopped at the petrol station to buy fuel and I asked how much was a liter of petrol and she said 8.3cny which is approximately 1,735 naira per liter. She even said it recently got to that amount meaning, they were buying cheaper until recently.

Whereas,China is world 2nd largest economy. They don't even have crude oil. They import. Their GDP is much higher than ours, meaning, their per capita income cum minimum wage is much more robust than ours. Yet, their pump price is 200 naira higher than ours. Sadly, anytime an apc apologist says fuel in Nigeria is cheaper, their gullible supporters would swallow it hook, line and sinker.

You are talking like an illiterate in economics. Subsidy that does not benefit the poor is a wasted subsidy. Most of the subsidised petrol in Nigeria goes to neighbouring countries. Atiku has not told us how he would stop that. Secondly, it is easier to subsidise agricultural produce than petrol because of smuggling. Even the farmers in northern Nigeria have been moving produce to Niger. Our borders are porous and uncontrollable. Secondly, no tax has been raised for poor in Nigeria. If am wrong show us the evidence. The tax net has been widened. But the poor pay less tax. That’s the truth.

Can Atiku tell us how he will get money to subsidise production? Can he tell us what will happen if all the cheap subsidised petrol is smuggled across border to neighbouring countries? Can he tell us how production subsidy will stop fuel hoarding and adulteration of petrol, all the problems that we had in subsidy regime? Can he tell us how to stop them?
