66uvie: Why will the Government intervene, MTN and 9 mobile (Etisalat) started about the same. The former invested heavily on its infrastructure while the later was just creaming it's profits off MTN are now reaping the reward of there investments. that is not true, Etisalat came into Nigeria much later after mtn, glo and Airtel. They operated for a few years and decided to divest from Nigeria by selling the company to local investors. |

Very badly managed company.
They got their advertisement right but got management wrong Etisalat is a foreign telecom company, they divested from Nigeria telecom sector and sold the company to local investors. It was all downhill from there. |

MadPolitician: You are the struggling to make sense here but you don't know. Call anyone living in China for over ten years or thereabout and they will tell you that the Chinese implemented this sort of policy at a point when lots of foreigners were opening retail export shops around Guangzhou. Yeah, you heard right. The great Chinese were making laws to protect their retailers. I mentioned this event here then but folks like you with your liberal cock and bull stories maintained that the Chinese were right.
Later, China will loosen the laws by stipulating that any foreigners wanting to open such retail shops should employ several Chinese and pay them basic minimum wages. You also must be current with your tax payments and must have office in designated office areas. That means you are now paying rents for the office spaces too! That's the situation now.. Ghana did dame thing against igbo traders under Buhari. You didn't read about it because those Nigerian traders always find a way to wriggle out of the dragnet. For instance in China, Nigerians started using names of their girlfriends and Chinese wives to run the shops! That's how they stay afloat.
I don't understand your example with Lagos and all that. Is Lagos a separate countey feom Nigeria
Na waaaaoh what you have just described now is regulation, there is difference between regulation and ban. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Tanzania Bans Foreign Nationals From Running Small Businesses by ernieboy(m): 3:42pm On Aug 03, 2025 |
franchasng: This is laudable, Nigerian government need to emulate this.
Ban Chinese people from operating small and medium scale trading businesses.
Chinese citizens should only be allowed to operate manufacturing, production and other large scale businesses.
They should be banned from opening small and medium scale trading businesses in Nigeria.
If this is not done, Chinese will soon Pursue Nigerian small and medium scale businesses from operation there are many Nigerians in china engaged in small scale businesses, what happens if china also reciprocates and bans them? In your selfishness u people only think of what will benefit u. Ban Chinese business men and see what happens to all the small scale Nigerian businesses in china. |

Kemetian: Is Tinubu Nigeria?
Of what impact is what he buys compared to what 250 million people decide to buy?
The problem with you lot is that you've made the role of your ''leaders'' so paramount in your lives that there is no room for your own brains to think.
What stops You and today's youth from promoting Nigerian-made so as to shore up the Naira value?
You all have internet and social media. Why don't you use it for something fruitful?
Instead of looking for ''our leaders'' to blame for naira value, why not also be ''leaders'' and start a social media campaign to elevate indigenous hairstyles, and ditch Brazilian hair imports and imported bleaching creams?
Or promote indigenous fashion like light Dashiki over jeans and t-shirts?
Make it 'trend'?
These are mindset adjustments that can generate millions of new jobs and raise the Naira value, virtually overnight.
But no. Tinubu must magically raise the Naira value for you while you cover yourself in imports.
Keep waiting. a leader should lead by example. |
