I don't personally underrate Marcelo's defending, I just feel if he can strike a balance between attacking and defending, he'll be the perfect LB in the world. I agree with Ibime and as a coach also, I'll pick Alaba over Marcelo any day, any time. I'm not saying Marcelo is not good, but defensive wise, Alaba is better for me. Marcelo is very attack minded (attacks more than Alaba for me), but defensively, not so much. Madrid don't have the best defence, there main saviour is their attack and midfield.

With Alaba, I'm getting the best of both worlds - attacking and defending.

With Marcelo, I'm getting the best of one world - attacking.

I am not reading too much. Once Ibime has an agenda he goes at it full throttle (See Emenalo for example).

What I would say is, Marcelo’s defending is underrated because of what he does going forward. Alaba had potential but he has depreciated a bit. If you are hyping Alaba because of Tuesday’s showing then recency bias is what is causing it. Remember that Vasquez (who is no Rb) played that position so even daddy Ribery was feeding.

Even Sandro that they hyped earlier on cannot lace Marcelo’s boot.

Whether LeBron is great or not, there is a standard he was expected to conform to and he didn't therefore he choked. In 2015 the MVP wasn't spectacular enough to snatch FMVP from an iguodala who limited LeBron (LOOOL) who averaged a 35 point near triple double. In 2017 he got outplayed by KD on his own team and the spotlight was off him so it doesn't matter. KD will win it again this year if the warriors win it all. The Cavs are more likely to win the chip than the warriors are to win with curry as FMVP.
