ABEOKUTA - The Aare Ona Kankanfo of Yorubaland, Otunba Gani Adams has accused former Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu as anti- restructuring of Nigeria, stressing that he is a businessman in politics with no ideology.

Adams stated this, through Director of Communication, Aare Onakakanfo Strategic Intervention Group (ASIG), Olajide Odumosu, in reaction to Coordinator of Bola Tinubu Disciples Organization (BTDO), Agarawu Wasiu, describing him (Adams), as an ingrate, a traitor and a misfit for the Yoruba race

He declared that, the attack on him by Tinubu’s disciples had done more damage to the reputation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) leader than good, noting that rather than addressing issues raised in the said interview, had decided to go haywire, raining insulting words on his personality

"Having gone through the story, it is obvious that Tinubu's Disciples Organization are nothing but a large group of loose cannons that are ready to mortgage the future of the Yoruba race", Adams said.

Adams raised four issues revolving around the state of the nation and the future of the Yoruba race, emphasizing that Tinubu had no interest in the actualization of Oodua Republic and restructuring.

He pointed out that, Tinubu through Agarawu, had, in the statement, described Yoruba's quest for restructuring as the most taunted, thus justifying his (Adams) stand that Tinubu had no interest on restructuring.

Adams declared that, Tinubu was never a member of any Yoruba socio cultural group, where leaders are properly trained and built with Yoruba ideology and philosophy.

"He was groomed by the late General Shehu Yar'Adua, under Premous group- a political dynasty of the late politician. Tinubu's political background is alien to Yoruba ideology and that his campaign for Presidency, two months after the swearing- in of President Muhammadu Buhari's second term in office was ill-timed and a distraction to the APC government.

"All the issues raised in the said interview were nothing but the truth because they outweighed the response from Agarawu. Tinubu's quest for power is Hitlerish and no sane Yoruba man will like to identify with the former governor of Lagos state. He should name three unique things he had done for the Yoruba race.

“Tinubu had a hand in the breakup of all the socio cultural groups in Yorubaland, Afenifere, OPC, YCE, others. He whittled down the popularity of PRONACO. The OPC under Aare's leadership broke up into groups. He sponsored the renegades in Somolu, Ilorin,and Ibadan. Now those groups have gone under and they are of no relevance at the moment.

“Afenifere had a bitter story to tell about him. The Yoruba socio cultural group had been in existence since 1948, he had infiltrated the group with Afenifere Renewal group. He went to the presidency with another group led by Pa Ayo Fasanmi, saying they are the authentic Afenifere.YCE is presently another victim of Tinubu's political chicanery", he said

He continued, "The new Yoruba World Congress that is just starting are presently feeling the heat of his infiltration, with some of its top member resigning with no genuine reason. Even there was an unconfirmed reports that the Lagos state government slowed down on the implementation of the Amotekun Security outfit because they are waiting for bourdillion's go ahead.

"Even as it is evident that his body language on Amotekun across the southwest is nothing to write home about. All these are evidences against Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. While serving his unjust detention in prison, Obasanjo decided to deal with Aare Gani Adams. And one of his reasons then was because of his closeness to Tinubu.

"He was released from detention after fourteen months that was between October 2005 and December 2006. He said Aare was an ingrate. Let him justify this. Has he built a house for Aare Gani Adams? Did he buy a car or sponsor Aare's education? Or did he spend any money for the development of the OPC as organization? When Okiro arrested him in 2001, did he pay for his legal fees?

"Even during the installation ceremony of the Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland on January 13, 2018 in Oyo, did he contribute financially or send any representative? He didn't.These are questions begging for answers.

"In 2007 when Aare Gani Adams launched his book "Leadership challenge" at Museum Centre, Honourable Tunde Balogun, Tinubu's representative at the book launch promised to give Aare five million, but up till today, he didn't fulfill his promise.

"In 2005,Tinubu offered Aare Adams a two-bedroom apartments at Lagos state Low Cost Housing Estate, Ojokoro, Meiran, Lagos but he rejected it. The last time Aare meet with him was in 2009. So why is he after Aare?

"The position of Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland is that of a traditional warlord of the Yoruba race. As the Yoruba generalisimo and cultural aficionado, he has sworn on an oath to defend the Yoruba race and this is what he has been doing’

"Any Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland must say the truth at the right time, no matter who is involved. And the Aare Gani Adams I know is up to the task. Therefore, it is a complete misinterpretation of words to say Aare Gani Adams is a misfit for the Yoruba race."

The residents of Isinbode Ekiti in Ekiti East Local Government Area of Ekiti State have been thrown into panic as gun wielding hoodlums numbering about ten, invaded the community on Friday, and kidnapped three persons.

The assailants, reportedly attacked a Sawmill located along Isinbode-Ode road and dispossessed the workers of their personal belongings and abducted two at the scene.

The source revealed that after the operation, the kidnappers had waylaid a Hilux Van conveying a top government official and rained bullet on the vehicle and one of the occupants was kidnapped.

“The hoodlums stormed a sawmill in the area where they dispossessed traders and workers of their money and valuables while two persons, a man and a woman were abducted.

“While the criminals were fleeing the community, a Hilux van conveying a senior officer of a government agency was attacked in which the driver was shot.

“The driver of the Hilux was hit by bullets forcing him to wait on the highway , this led to the kidnap of the unknown top government’s functionary”, the source stated.

When contacted, the Ekiti State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Abutu, confirmed the incident , disclosing that one out of the abductors had escaped from captivity.

Abutu said the kidnappers are now left with two persons , including the senior civil servant.

The police spokeperson added that the police were on the trail of the criminals, promising that the captives shall be freed unhurt.

Abutu disclosed that the shot driver has been rescued to an hospital where he is currently receiving medical treatment.

The Chairman, Ejigbo Local Government Area of Osun State, Mr Teslim Ogunmola, has imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew on Ejigbo following the killing of two residents of the town within four days.

A resident of the town, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the manner in which the deceased were killed raises concern among the residents, who believe that ritualists were behind the act.

The resident added that two indigenes of Ejigbo were killed in their homes within the week, a development that he said was causing apprehension in the town.

“There is palpable fear across the town as people believe that some ritualists are behind the killings,” the resident said.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed that two persons were killed between Sunday and Wednesday in Ejigbo.

She stated that one Bamidele Aboderin had been arrested in connection with the last murder in the town.

Opalola explained that on Sunday, 50-year-old Musibau Muraina was reported to have been murdered.

The PPRO said the deceased was killed in his house at the Oya compound and that when police personnel visited the scene, it was observed that the deceased’s abdomen was ripped open and his intestines exposed.

She explained that another murder was recorded in the town on Wednesday as one Misratu Azeez, 45, was killed at the Oloya compound.

Opalola added that police personnel, who visited the scene, observed that the deceased was injured in the forehead.

She, however, allayed the fear of the residents, saying the state Police Commissioner, Mr Undie Adie, had directed full-scale investigation into the circumstances surrounding the killings.

“No apprehension. The Commissioner of Police has directed full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the two incidents. We are also intensifying patrol around the area. The perpetrators will not escape justice,” Opalola said.

Nigeria's image has been dented so bad that multiple institutions abroad, especially in Dubai, have begun rejecting Nigerians who are applying for school or jobs.

To prevent Nigerians from applying at all, a number of these companies added a clause in their job adverts stating that candidates of every nationality can apply except Nigerians.

A vacancy for merchandisers was advertised by Shirley Recruitment Consultants in Dubai. However, they stated that they do not want Nigerians.

A Nigerian applying for a tourist visa to Dubai also shared a screenshot of the rejection mail he got telling him that "Nigerian passport holders are not permitted to obtain a tourism visa to the UAE in the meantime."

Nigerians have blamed the discrimination on the activities of criminals who give Nigerians a bad name abroad.

Record number of indicted criminal leaders

A Federal High Court in Lagos has granted post-judgment bail to a Yoruba music promoter, Lateef Alagbada, who is awaiting extradition to the United States for trial on alleged drugs related offences.

Justice Sule Hassan ordered Alagbada’s release from the custody of International Police (INTERPOL), pending determination of his appeal challenging the extradition order.

Alagbada has been in INTERPOL custody since last September.

The judge gave the order in a ruling on the applicant’s bail application filed by his counsel Dr. Babatunde Oni.

The Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) did not oppose the application.

“There is evidence that defendants were served but did not respond. It is trite law that an undefended suit is deemed as an admission in law.

“Since this court granted an extradition order the respondents have not taking any step. I am also aware of the fact of the travel ban as a result of COVID-19.

“Consequently, bail is granted in the sum of N5 million with one surety, who must be a public servant not below Grade Level 15 or a landed property owner,” Hassan held.

The judge, last month, ordered Alagbada’s extradition while delivering judgment on an extradition application brought by the AGF.
He gave the AGF 15 days to send the music promoter to America for prosecution, but the government was unable to execute the order due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Alagbada promoted the late Fuji maestro Sikiru Ayinde Barrister and many other Yoruba artistes.

According to the government, the defendant, popularly called Lati Alagbada, is wanted abroad to face two counts of conspiracy to distribute, possess and import one kilogramme of heroine.

The government said it was relying among others on a Certified True Copy (CTC) of a warrant for Alagbada’s arrest, in case No. 17-CR-227-JMV, issued on June 15, 2017, by a United States District Court of New Jersey.

CHICAGO – A man from Nigeria has been arrested after being accused of running a $50 million scheme that targeted Chicago companies.

Olalekan Jacob Ponle allegedly got an unnamed Chicago-based company to wire transfer more than $15 million. Another local company lost $2.3 million, but investigators believe the scheme is worth more than $50 million.

Sources pointed WGN Investigates to his Instagram feed which looks like a lifestyle of the rich and famous.

Here’s how prosecutors said the alleged scheme worked.

Either he or his co-conspirators were able to gain access to company’s email accounts through a phishing attack.

In one of the Chicago cases, they allegedly sent an email that appeared to be from the company’s Chief Accounting Officer to another employee ordering the a transfer.

The criminal complaint says “The fraudulent email was almost identical to a prior, legitimate email” right down to the name on the bank account. But the account “number” was different.

Federal agents said Ponle’s scheme spanned at least 9 months last year.

During that time, one of his Instagram posts read: “Money don’t make a man, a man makes money.”

Ponle is a Nigerian national and was taken into custody in the United Arab Emirates. UAE expelled him and federal agents brought Ponle to Chicago Thursday night for an initial court appearance Friday morning.

A detention hearing is schedule for late next week.

The Osun State Police Command on Wednesday dragged a 50-year-old man, Aina Taiwo before a Magistrates’ Court sitting in Osogbo for alleged attempt to rape a school teacher.

The defendant was alleged on two counts bordering on attempted rape and assault.


The prosecutor, Mr Abiodun Fagboyinbo said the defendant committed the offence on 27 June 2020 at about 10:55 AM at Agunbelewo Area, Osogbo.

He said, “Taiwo attempted to commit rape and unlawfully assaulted Mark Kehinde F’ by giving her blow on her mouth to the extent she sustained an injury on her mouth and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 359 and 360 of the Criminal Code Cap 34, Vol. II Laws of Osun State Nigeria 2002.”

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.

The Magistrate, Mr Opeyemi Badmus, gave a privileged to the complainant to answer some questions surrounding alleged offence. The complainant said, “I am a school teacher and a neighbour to the accused person”.

The defence counsel, Mr Nagite Okobe applied for bail for his client on the most liberal term.

The Magistrate, Mr Badmus admitted the accused person to bail with the sum of N500,000 with one surety who must be a level 7 civil servant officer in the state.

He adjourned the case to 9th of July 2020 for hearing.

A 25-year-old man, Segun Ige, has been remanded at the Correctional Centre by an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly defiling a six-year-old girl.

According to the police prosecutor, Mr Caleb Leramo, the defendant committed the offence on June 13 in Oloje-Ekiti.

The police prosecutor in Ekiti, Leramo said the defendant, who lived in the neighbourhood, defiled the girl when her parents were not around.


He said the offence contravened Section 31(2) of Child’s Right Laws of Ekiti State, 2012 urging the court to remand the defendant in the correctional centre pending legal advice from the office of Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Abdulhamid Lawal, consequently, adjourned the case till July 9 for mention.

Similarly, an 18-year-old Kunle Amujo was also remanded by an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court, yesterday, at the Correctional Centre in Ado-Ekiti over alleged sexual abuse.

The police prosecutor, Insp. Monica Ikebuilo told the Court that the defendant committed the offence on May 18 in Odo-Oro Ekiti in Ekiti State where he sexually abused a 4-year-old girl.

The plea of the defendant was also not taken as the Chief Magistrate, Mrs Adefumike Anoma, ordered the remand of the defendant at the correctional centre pending issuance of legal advice.
