The Oluwo of Iwo in Osun State, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi has described the National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as the most qualified to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023. Speaking at the launching of South-West Agenda (SWAGA) in Aurora Event Centre in Osogbo, Osun State on Tuesday, he said Tinubu is a visionary leader who has all it takes to rule to succeed the president in 2023. The monarch who berated the lackadaisical attitude of some Yorubas called on sons and daughters of Yorubaland to always rally round their leaders. He condemned the manner at which the Yorubas were at the forefront of the pull-him-down syndrome that never made the late Awolowo realize his ambition. “No one is as qualified as Sen Bola Ahmed Tinubu who remained a visionary leader and a great achiever. Only a misled son of Yoruba would not support this course. “Who else has that capacity to run for 2023 poll in Southwest. we should all push him to be greater than Awolowo so that his legacy could go on. “But during my time, both as a youth and king, we are going to correct the mistake of the past, we are not going to be ungrateful, you can not see a Hausa man castigating their leaders who are billionaires. We need to remove the curse in Yoruba land of castigating and being ungrateful to our leaders who are our heroes. When he was the governor of Lagos State for two terms, he came up with ideas that have brought great development to the state till date. He created wealth in Lagos State,” he said. . |

FORMER Speakers of the House of Assembly in Ondo and Ekiti states have dissociated themselves from the purported endorsement of a National Leader of the All-Progressive Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to contest the 2023 presidential election. Recall that former speakers of Houses of Assembly in the Southwest geo-political zone had met in Ibadan, Oyo state to draw massive support for the candidacy of Tinubu for the 2023 presidential election. The meeting which was at the instance of the Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa endorsed Asiwaju Tinubu for the 2023 president. But former Speakers from the two states in the region noted that although they attended the said meeting, there was no endorsement for the candidacy of Tinubu and no communique was issued to that effect. Their position was contained in a statement signed by five former Ondo speakers Rt. Hons. Victor Olabimtan, Oluwasegunota Bolarinwa, Ayo Agbomuserin, Abdusalam Olawale Taofeeq, Kenneth Olawale (Ondo), and Patrick Ajigbolamu from Ekiti state. The former Speakers said the meeting was at the instance of Rt. Hon. Titi Oseni, the Coordinator of the Southwest forum of the Conference of Former Speakers of House of Assembly of Nigeria, under the national chairman of Governor Simon Lalong. “Rt. Hon. Obasa came to the meeting to solicit the support of the ex-speakers, as automatic national delegates, for the aspiration of his mentor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. They said when the issue was discussed they spoke in unison during the meeting and maintained that they would rather wait for the directive of the leader of their respective states. According to them, “Governor Akeredolu of Ondo state and Governor Fayemi of Ekiti State are in the best position to speak for their states. ” We told the gathering that all candidates from the zone, including Tinubu, had legitimate right to aspire to lead the country. “The ex-speaker from Ekiti State also informed the gathering that his Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi is equally interested in the presidency and eminently qualified. “As much as the issue of national politics is concerned, we are of the opinion that every eligible aspirant deserves equal right and opportunity. “As a member of the All-Progressives Congress, APC, we are not against the aspiration of any member of the party from the Southwest Region. “Every State in the Southwest, be it Lagos, Ondo, or Ekiti is qualified to produce a candidate and whoever that the leadership of the Party supports, we will support”. “It is a well-known fact that our Governors are the leaders of our party in every State, and we will never do anything that is contrary to their interest. “If Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is interested in running for the 2023 Presidency, and Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State is also gunning for the position, they are both qualified to run. “However, none of them has openly declared interest or intention to do so. “Therefore, the issue of drumming support for any particular “aspirant” as being circulated is out of place and we are not a party to that”. “We hereby dissociate ourselves from such endorsement when the purported gladiator has not informed the Conference of his interest to run for the exalted position in the Country. They added that We are party men, and will support the interest of all our leaders wherever they go”. https://www-vanguardngr-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/www.vanguardngr.com/2021/01/2023-election-we-didnt-endorse-tinubu-ondo-ekiti-former-speakers/amp/?amp_js_v=a6&_gsa=1&usqp=mq331AQHKAFQArABIA%3D%3D |
NO fewer than three persons have been injured in a clash that occurred in Gaa Seriki village, Alagolo, Iganga, Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State. One person was also said to be missing with about 10 huts razed in an incident that began Thursday afternoon. The victims both from the Yoruba and Fulani residents of the area. Trouble was said to have started Thursday afternoon when a popular indigene of the area, Mr Sunday Adeyemo (popularly known as Sunday Igboho) stormed the residence of the Seriki Fulani of Oyo State, Alhaji Saliu Abdul-Kadir to complain about what he termed the incessant attacks on people of the area. When The Nation visited the Igangan community, it was gathered that while the brief meeting was ongoing, some hamlets in the area were being set on fire. Speaking with The Nation, the Seriki Fulani, Alhaji Abdul-Kadir denied knowledge of the attack, saying the Fulani in the community now live in fear. He called on the government to come to their aid, adding that they have lived peacefully in the area as responsible citizens of the state. Speaking on the incident, a member of Iganga Development Advocates, Mr Oguntade Blessing accused the security operative of negligence, noting that the attack on the resident by the Fulanis happened in their full glare. The Executive Assistance to Governor Seyi Makinde, CP Sunday Odukoya (retd) said the government has commenced investigation into the matter, assuring that those found culpable would be made to face the full wrath of the law. Odukoya who visited Iganga and all the victims at the separate hospitals where they are receiving medical attention, said the government is not asking the law abiding residents irrespective of their tribe or creed to leave any part of the state but only criminal elements. He said the governor gave an order on the adequate safety and protection of all the residents of the community the moment the information of the incident got to him, urging the people to support the government by exposing criminal elements in their midst as a final panacea to the crisis. https://thenationonlineng-net.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/thenationonlineng.net/village-razed-in-oyo-communal-clash/amp/?amp_js_v=a6&_gsa=1&usqp=mq331AQHKAFQArABIA%3D%3D#referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&aoh=16110017518802&_tf=From%20%251%24s&share=https%3A%2F%2Fthenationonlineng.net%2Fvillage-razed-in-oyo-communal-clash%2F |

Three Norman residents have pleaded guilty in what federal investigation authorities called a “Nigerian romance scam,” the U.S. Department of Justice announced. Tobiloba Kehinde, 28, of Norman, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit money laundering in federal court last month, according to a statement from the Department of Justice. Two other Norman residents, Afeez Olajide Adebara, 35, who owns TBA stores, and John Oluwaseun Ogundele, 31, pleaded guilty in 2019. According to the federal grand jury document obtained by The Transcript, 10 men were indicted in a scheme to use fake identities and coerce victims to send them hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash and goods between 2017 and 2019. The victims live in Pryor, Oklahoma, Ohio and Florida, and the crimes were investigated by the FBI in Oklahoma City. Kehinde “maintained” two addresses in Norman — on Ringwood Street and Oak Avenue — and is a Nigerian citizen and permanent U.S. resident, the indictment reads. He received a fake passport from co-conspirators and used the aliases “Jeff Atto” and “Ari Lawson,” the court record shows. “From 2017 through November 2019, Kehinde knowingly concealed the proceeds of a romance scam operation by moving money between and among multiple bank accounts that were opened under various aliases using fake passports and other fraudulent identification documents to obscure the source of the funds and the identities of the co-conspirator,” a DOJ statement reads. “Court documents state that he and his co-conspirators took further steps to conceal the source of the funds, took a commission and directed the remainder of the funds back to the online romance scammers in Nigeria, including in the form of vehicles and vehicle parts.” Court records show Kehinde coordinated with fellow co-conspirators to set up fake social media and dating profiles on sites like Match.com, WhatsApp and Google Hangouts with “the intent to defraud victims.” The “overseas” defendants often told victims they needed funds to return to the U.S. or to complete work projects, the indictment stated. “The overseas co-conspirators told victims they were U.S. residents working abroad,” the statement reads. “In fact, the investigation revealed that these overseas co-conspirators were located in Nigeria. As these online ‘relationships’ continued, the overseas co-conspirators’ would request increasingly larger sums of money, claiming that the funds were needed to complete business projects or to return to the United States. The victims were directed by the overseas co-conspirators to send funds to Kehinde and others’ bank accounts, assuring the victims that he would allocate the money as needed.” Kehinde admitted to authorities the funds were obtained illegally. “In his plea agreement, Kehinde admitted that he knew the money involved in the financial transactions involved the proceeds from unlawful activity,” the statement reads. “He further stated that he knew the financial transactions were designed, in whole or in part, to conceal or disguise the nature, the location, the source, the ownership or the control of the proceeds of the unlawful activity.” Kehinde’s sentencing hearing is set for March 29, 2021. https://www.normantranscript.com/news/norman-men-plead-guilty-in-nigerian-love-con-scam/article_788fe966-5141-11eb-9bc0-a7dc083d7baa.html |
Hmmm I see the North choosing this man over tinubu and his agege ambition. The north will not want tinubu and his style of politics which they will deem dangerous to hand power to him . Secondly. Will the sultan support a yoruba muslim rule over him? Where he can alter their Islamic calendar and make muric chief imam of the federal . Odds against him. |
