EPISODE TWO: CELEBRATIONS

Lola Kuro enters into her house, she was greeted immediately by her loving family. Her mother’s hug, her father's cheer, her brothers' delight and her uncle's chuckle.

Nia, her mother said. “I have prepared all your favorite meals for you. Who knows when next I would cook for you.”

“Mum, you shouldn’t have.” Lola said.

“That’s what I said. Instead of showering you with all her affection, she should focus on the remaining children, because we also have something to celebrate.” Nee protested.

“Idiot, being a Sovereign Shadow is worth more celebrating than being a guardian, it’s just common sense.” Ree responded.

“Mum, Ree just called me an idiot.” Nee whined.

Ree slams his palm on his forehead. “How did I share a womb with this slowpoke.”

“Ree, enough no more calling your brother names, otherwise I would restrict your library access.”

Ree immediately becomes composed.

Lola smiled as she hugs her brothers. “Becoming a Guardian is also worth being celebrated. I am proud of you two, and I am pretty sure you both will become great guardian.” Lola stated.

“Are you guys done? The food is getting cold.” Uncle Lou declared.

They all laughed as they settled on the dining table.

“So how was your first day?” Roonie asked his daughter as they dine.

“Uhm, it was okay, I guess.” She said. “I was given a tour of the Villa and Tobie introduced himself and welcomed me. Nothing really exciting happened.”

“That’s good. The job of a Sovereign Shadow always go south when something exciting happens.” Roonie stated.

“Tobie, the Leader of the Sovereign Shadows. But why does he wear a mask?” Ree asked.

“Don’t know, but according to rumors, they say anyone that sees his face becomes condemned.” Lola answered.

“Nonsense!” Uncle Lou blurted out. “He has a skin infection which makes his face horrible to look at, that’s all.”

“He looks cool with the mask. Mum can I get a mask?” Nee asked.

“Out of the question, how do you expect me to live without seeing your beautiful face” Nia answered.

“Mum, I am a boy you’re supposed to say handsome and not beautiful.”

“So who are your mentors?” Lola asked.

“I got mum and Nee got dad.” Ree responded.

“I got a mouth.” Nee said with food in his mouth. “Dad’s my mentor”

“You guys are lucky, you didn’t get Grandpa Kuro as mentor.”

The twins shrieked.

Lola continues, “When he was my mentor, I knew the difference between grandpa Kuro and mentor Kuro.”

“Lord Kuro is a good mentor, he’s the reason why I am regarded as the Hurricane Prince.” Uncle Lou stated.

“Maybe that’s the reason you are still the prince and not the king.” Nee responded.

Uncle Lou smack his head. “Maybe you should focus more on eating than talking.”

“Mum, uncle Lou hit my head.” Nee cried.

Lola just sat down as she enjoys the drama she calls family. Being a Sovereign Shadow was something she couldn’t even in her wildest dream ever thought of becoming. And here she was an SS of the guardian realm. She knows the job comes with a lot of sacrifice. One of which was, this was the last time she was going to call here home.

“So mum, would you be teaching me the thunder palm during our mentor training.” Ree asked.

“That’s a three star technique, no we would be starting out with the basics.”

“So no lightning needle?” Nee looked at his dad. Roonie shooks his head.

“Lord Kuro would have thought you.” Uncle Lou stated, Nia looks at her brother with a cold stare.

“ No need to get worked up sis, I’m just saying.”

THE GUARDIAN

EPISODE ONE: PILOT

Nas snores soundly without a care to the world. Even though he needed the sleep, now is not the time for him to be slacking off. Today was the day, the day he had been waiting for all his life.

The alarm in his small-sized apartment starts to ring sending sound waves all around the room. This is not the first time that the alarm has rung, but this is the one that …

“I’m up, I’m up,” Nas shouted as he wakes up. He gets up from the bed still feeling a little bit sleepy as he reaches to off the alarm, he fumbled with the alarm, his mind still under the control of the sleep. But finally, he managed to shut it off.

“Damn, that thing can really cry”, he cried. As he was about to rest a bit, reality hit him in the face like a father's slap. “Oh no, not again.” He jumped out of the bed, his eyes spot time on the clock. “I am so doomed, why do this thing always happen to me? I can’t be late.”

Nas moved around his apartment like a surgeon doing heart surgery with precision, from the bathroom, to his closet, back to the bathroom then to bedroom. All in a flash, he was now on a black guardian combat short, a blue vest and the iconic guardian jacket which is colored ash with some orange pattern.

He was looking at the mirror admiring himself, his greyish hair all spunky. He was a Guardian. Well, not a full fledged Guardian, but at least he has gotten his Guardian shield. He opens the drawer just below the mirror as he brings out his shield.

The shield which had like a flat oval shape, blue in color. His shield was void because he was just just a rookie, but very soon his five stars would be activated and his dream of becoming a great Guardian would be achieved.

But that is a long way to go, and he acknowledges it and another thing he acknowledges, is that he was late.

He comes out of his apartment and runs into Benn his neighbor.

“Nas, late again. Even today. Wow, you are gonna be one shitty guardian” Benn stated.

“I learn from the best, beside I thought you were supposed to be on a mission,” Nas said as he locks his door.

Benn’s face turns white as he faces down. “Well, you see… I had some issues with my commander…and…” Benns looks up to see no one. “Damn you, Nas”

Nas on the rooftop as he races toward the guardian academy, as he maneuvers his way through the city roof, he could see people rushing just to get into a bus.

He smiles, as he remembers the time he too fought just to get on the bus. But now having been trained, he have now completed his guardianship. He could now leap buildings while the civilians fight for the bus.

The Guardian Academy, its gate stands tall painted Ash as a reminder to all, that no one is perfect we all have light and darkness within us.

Nas now at the gate, he noticed the gatekeeper wasn’t there. The old man should be at the ceremony he thought.

“Late again Nas.” The old man’s voice stopped him in his track.

“How come I never sense you, it’s like you don’t exist.”

The old smiled showing some crooked teeth.

“Nas, maybe you can’t sense a rusty like me or maybe your sensing ability is rusty. Who knows?”

“Or probably you are so good at concealment” Nas responds. “Why aren’t you at the ceremony? Today your favorite student graduates. “

The old man chuckles as he moves closer to Nas, their heights far apart. One an embodiment of ages past while the other a manifestation of things to come.

“Duty over love. I want you to remember that. For duty without love is acclaimed, but love without duty is worthless.” The old man confessed.

“As much I would love to be at the training ground, my duty won’t let me”

“Duty, I like the word, maybe I also can do my duty just like you”

“I pray so, but the road may not be straight. Hope you will persist?”

“We will just have to wait and see now, won’t we”

Nas grinned as he leaves the old man and heads toward the training ground.

The training ground beamed with excited faces as the Academy Coordinator stands on the podium. Master Mazik was as strict as they came, he was always on everyone neck. He ran the academy like a shoelace runs a shoe. No wonder the academy could boast of several numbers of guardian who became 3 stars and more.

“Now I would like to introduce the Guardian Sovereign. He has a small message for you and after that each graduates shall be allocated a mentor ” Mazik announced.

The Guardian Sovereign; Sola Anim takes the stage wearing her official robe, she was followed by her shadows; Tobie and Lora. The Guardian Sovereign nods her .approval towards Mazik as she faced the graduates.

Nas sees a vacant seat, his one and only green haired friend have kept it for him. He maneuvers his way through the crowd as he navigates to the chair.

“You are late.” Kanji stated just before Nas could sit down. “You are no longer a fledgling, but a guardian of this realm”

“Shh.” Nas, putting a finger on his lips.”The Sovereign of the realm is talking”

“Today is a grand day, for our realm now have another set of protectors to guard it from evil from beyond. I am happy, I don’t have any lecture to give you but a charge. How many stars are on your shield?”

The training ground was mute, the Sovereign smiled. “You are silent because you realize that your shield has no stars but that shouldn’t make you silent. In fact you should be delighted, for you all are guardians without the stars. So don’t let the stars on your shield define you, but rather you should define the stars on your shield. One star, two stars, three stars , four stars or even five stars none of them matters. Only what you have inside that matters.”

“Pfff, even a new born knows that a guardian without stars is nothing.” Nas scoffed.

“The Sovereign is right, if I chose my friends according to what they possess, you won’t be in my top 100. In fact I won’t even know you existed.” Kanji declared.

“Good to know I have nothing that is of interest to you,” Nas stated.

“Let me end by saying.” The Sovereign said. “Do not follow the stars, but let the stars follow you.”

The training ground lit up with excited claps, as they applauded for the Sovereign. She leaves the stage with her double shadows following closely.

A skinny guardian takes the stage as he announced that the list of mentors was now ready. Then like a flash of lightning, all the graduates’ shield beeped signaling incoming data.

“As if I knew it that I am going to be getting my dad as my mentor,” Kanji said. “Nas what about you?”

“I got Naka Kizu, but I don’t know who he is?”

“Where were you when we were taught Histories and Legends?”

“Don’t know, I guess sleeping or something. The name sounds familiar”

“Of course, it’s familiar. The Naka forest was named after him. In fact, he is regarded as the father of all elements.” Kanji proclaimed.

“If he were that good I should have heard of him'

“Nas, I’m pretty sure you are the one that is the odd one here, not knowing Naka the great Elementalist”

Nas is about to respond when he notice a disruption. “What’s going on?” He leaves Kanji to investigate.

Raga shouting at Ria, his red hair wild like his outburst. “How do I get your father as my mentor, what can I learn from him? Answer me!” He is about to hit her when Nas intervenes.

“About picking on me, Raga.” He said as he gives him a resonating punch. Raga sprawls to the ground as the crowd gasped.

Ria attempts to lift herself up. But Nas the gentleman, was already by her side helping her up.

“You shouldn’t have interfered” Ria says, her blue eyes showing concern.

“A thank you would have sufficed.”

Raga now angry as ever, his red hair shone like the red heat of a hot metal. He gets up ready to attacks.

“Dragon punch!” he yelled as his hands transformed to like the scales of a dragon.

“I think that’s enough, Raga” Konji said coolly. He stood as a barrier between Raga and Nas. His green eyes as icy as a cold shower on a cold day.
Raga's tantrum blows out instantly. He stops instantly and gives a disgruntled sound. “Always in a nick of time, Konji.” He stated. “You always strike at the right time, no wonder you are a Gurin.”

“Raga Drago, I see you truly inherited the rage of the dragons.” Kanji said.

“So now that both of you have finally introduced yourself, can I get back to my hero moment.” Nas announced.

“You sure do talk big when your master is around, old man” Raga sneered at Nas.

Nas laughed. “Kanji did not stop the fight to protect me, he stopped it for you.” Nas acknowledged. “He doesn’t want you to land in the hospital just moment after your graduation.”

Raga is about to respond when Master Mazik voice echoed throughout the room sending everyone to order.

“We shall settle this later, old man” Raga said.

“Till then.” Nas asserted.

Raga leaves.

Ria now able to stand moves to thank Kanji. “I don’t know what would have happened if you hadn’t shown up when you did.”

“Always taking my glory.” Nas exclaimed.

“Kanji, I have to be going and Nas please be careful, I know my cousin and he won’t let this matter go.” Ria blue eyes shines as she looked at Nas.

“You know me, I flow with the flow.” Nas responds moments later.

Nas and Konji are seen outside the Guardian Academy.
“I have to get going, don’t want to be late for dinner. By the way, you are still invited."

“Thanks, but I've got somewhere to be. “ Nas responds. “Congrats, Kanji.”

Kanji chuckled. "Who would have thought the big cry baby that I first met on the first day of Academy, would grow to be a guardian?"

"Let's just say, the baby grew" Nas raises his fist for a fist bump. "Here's to what to come and all the good luck we are going to need."

"I couldn't agree more, Nas Lee." Kanji responded with his fist bump.

SportsLiverpool, City, Arsenal, Utd, Spurs... Who Will Claim The Coveted Top 4 Spots? by Esteedee12(op): 1:58pm On Oct 17, 2019
It has already been a gloriously open battle for Europe with the new Premier League season just eight games underway.

Two top-flight giants in Manchester United and Tottenham are badly faltering and surprise high-flyers are threatening to take their place.

Here, we delves into the race for the top four and analyses the strengths and weaknesses of every side vying for the coveted European spots so far...

Liverpool
Current league position: 1st (24 points)

The reigning European champions fell just one point short in an enthralling title race last season, but Jurgen Klopp's men currently sit top of the league this term and have shown no indication they will relinquish their grip on the summit.

Strengths:

The Anfield side have clinched eight victories from their first eight league games, and have scrapped for maximum points even when worked hard to do so. James Milner's stoppage time winner against Leicester from the penalty spot perfectly encapsulates the fighting spirit, and never say die attitude, that has now become synonymous with Liverpool.

They also boast the most formidable defence in the division, with just six goals shipped so far even in the absence of first choice stopper Alisson Becker.

And with a squad that has proved itself capable of challenging across multiple fronts, Liverpool will undoubtedly be favourites to finally clinch their 19th league title ahead of Manchester City.

Weaknesses:

The Reds' downfall may come from the pressure of sustaining a title bid. Last season, Liverpool had held a seven-point lead over City with both teams having played the same amount of games - but consecutive draws against Leicester and West Ham swung momentum back in the favour of Pep Guardiola's star-studded side.

The manager:

The ever-enigmatic Klopp will be determined to lead his team to domestic glory this season, having come so close just a matter of months ago. The German tactician can be spotted kicking every ball along the touchline, and his rousing nature has inspired both his players and the Liverpool faithful packed into Anfield.

He has spectacularly reunited the club off the field, and has proven himself tactically astute time and time again on it.

Predicted finish: 1st

Liverpool have hit the ground running in their quest to better Manchester City, and will clinch the title because of their consistency, outstanding key performers and ferocious team mentality.

Manchester City
Current league position: 2nd (16 points)

Manchester City appear worlds apart from the free-flowing outfit that had retained their crown last season.

Guardiola's side have already lost two games in their first eight fixtures, which is damning when compared to their overall total of four losses across the entire stretch of last season's campaign.

But with an eight-point gap already separating them from top spot, City will be aiming to prove their doubters wrong after the international break.

Strengths:

The reigning champions have once again found themselves in a rich vein of scoring form this season, with the exception of their surprise home defeat against Wolves.

City had rifled eight past Watford after slipping up against newcomers Norwich, and are guaranteed goals from Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus up front. The club's widemen are also capable of recording impressive tallies for the campaign.

Weaknesses:

City have appeared vulnerable defensively so far, with the departure of Vincent Kompany notably taking a toll on the club's backline. Nicolas Otamendi was much maligned for his poor showing against Wolves, having committed to ground too easily for the visitors' opener at the Etihad.

Aymeric Laporte's injury has also rocked the club, with Guardiola currently having to field Otamendi alongside Fernandinho in a makeshift centre half partnership.

But the champions were also worryingly sloppy going forward against their Midlands opponents. Their usual slick passages of passing around the 18-yard box were surprisingly non-existent, and the absence of Kevin de Bruyne made City appear bereft of ideas.

The manager:

Guardiola is no stranger to success, having guided both Barcelona and Bayern Munich to countless trophies before opting to take over City. And after a fourth-place finish in his first season in England, the Spaniard has transformed the top flight giants into centurions and back-to-back title winners.

But he had also admitted in his book 'Pep Confidential' that 'league titles are won in the final eight games, but they are lost in the first eight games', and Guardiola is sure to be determined to bounce back from his team's stuttering start.

Predicted finish: 2nd

City will rediscover the form that had propelled them to another league title last season, but will ultimately fall short this time around because of Liverpool's strengths, rather than their own deficiencies.

Arsenal
Current league position: 3rd (15 points)

Despite the pressure mounting on boss Unai Emery, Arsenal find themselves in third position heading into the international break.

Results may be flattering the North London side, but the Gunners are grinding out points even when not performing anywhere near their best.

Strengths:

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been in scintillating form in front of goal this season, with seven goals scored in eight games so far. The Gabonese frontman has bailed out his side, and manager, with crucial strikes - and youngster Gabriel Martinelli has also impressed since his arrival in the summer.

The club possesses several other promising starlets, with the likes of Bukayo Saka, Reiss Nelson and Joe Willock handed first-team opportunities by Emery since the start of the current campaign.

Weaknesses:

Defensive frailties continue to threaten to derail Arsenal's top four push once again this season. David Luiz, despite him netting his first goal for the club against Bournemouth, has been found in typically rash form in the penalty area and consequently been punished on several occasions.

Shkodran Mustafi was unable to be shifted off the club's wage bill in the summer too, with supporters left frustrated at the fashion in which their side concedes goals.

The manager:

Emery is tasked with proving his doubters wrong with a break clause looming in his contract. The animated Spaniard has been criticised for his poor selections and questionable substitutions during games, as well as his refusal to field Mesut Ozil despite the star being match fit.

But Arsenal fans will be hoping their boss can lead the team to a Champions League spot for next season, and are likely expecting to challenge for the Europa League once again. Anything less, and Emery could find himself searching for a new job in, or before, the summer.

Predicted finish: 4th

Arsenal will clinch the final automatic Champions League place come the end of the season, but will be expected to drastically improve performances in order to spare Emery's blushes.

Leicester City
Current league position: 4th (14 points)

Leicester, under the stewardship of Brendan Rodgers, are no surprise high-flyers. The Foxes have experienced nothing less than upwards momentum under the former Liverpool and Swansea boss, and are a genuine contender for European football this season.

Strengths:

Leicester are showing no fear and have recorded impressive victories recently against Tottenham and Newcastle. The latter was an emphatic 5-0 demolition job, and reflected the goal scoring talent available to Rodgers in abundance.

Jamie Vardy has netted five times in the league already, with James Maddison, Ricardo Pereira and Youri Tielemans also chipping in.

In addition, the centre back duo of Jonny Evans and Caglar Soyuncu has proved incredibly effective at shutting out opponents, with just seven goals conceded so far this campaign.

The blend of youth and experience at the King Power renders Leicester genuine top-four contenders, and they are poised to capitalise on the transitions holding back Tottenham and Manchester United.

Weaknesses:

The Foxes may find themselves overly reliant on an ageing Jamie Vardy for the bulk of their goals throughout the season, and consequently will need summer addition Ayoze Perez to start firing on all cylinders soon. The ex-Newcastle frontman laid on his third assist in three games at Anfield, but is still awaiting his maiden strike for his new team in the top flight.

The manager:

46-year-old Rodgers has rightly drawn plaudits for his transformation of Leicester, who had lulled themselves into obscurity under the conservative leadership of predecessor Claude Puel. But with the arrival of the Welshman came a brand new, more exciting, style of play - and the next step for the club will be qualifying for Europe.

Predicted finish: 6th

Leicester will fall short of a top four spot despite battling bravely for much of the campaign, but may still clinch a Europa League place regardless.

Chelsea
Current league position: 5th (14 points)

Despite appearing defensively shaky under new boss Frank Lampard, the young and eager Chelsea side are scoring goals for fun as they renew their bid for European qualification.

A transfer ban had hampered the club's ability to splash the cash, but the newfound reliance on youngsters such as Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount has paid dividends.

Strengths:

The former is the joint-top scorer in the division, having netted eight times in the Blues' opening fixtures. Mason Mount also boasts four goals to his name, and the dynamic English duo continue to link up to devastating effect.

Chelsea ripped Southampton apart recently with a four-goal salvo on the south coast, in a performance that demonstrated the high-octane attacking style that Lampard is attempting to instill at Stamford Bridge.

Weaknesses:

The London side have shipped 14 goals, however, meaning that they hold the fourth-worst defensive record in the division. A 4-0 defeat to Manchester United soured the club's opening league fixture, and the Blues have kept just one clean sheet from their eight clashes - which came against Brighton in late September.

The manager:

Club legend Lampard was installed in the summer and faced with a difficult season ahead. The transfer ban scuppered the chance to recruit reinforcements aside from Christian Pulisic, who has been largely sidelined since his arrival from Borussia Dortmund.

But the 41-year-old is more than making the most out of his resources, and Chelsea are winning back the supporters who may have grown apathetic under Maurizio Sarri.

Predicted finish: 3rd

Provided Chelsea can solidify their leaky back line, the club's fire power and impact substitutes will ensure the Blues are back into the Champions League for another season.

Crystal Palace
Current league position: 6th (14 points)

An impressive start to the new campaign sees Roy Hodgson's men flying high in sixth spot, just two points behind champions Manchester City.

But their next five fixtures are incredibly tough assignments, which hold the capacity to inspire dreams of an unlikely European finish, or thrust the club into a mid-table battle.

Strengths:

Palace have proven themselves stubborn to break down, and have suffered just one defeat in their last five fixtures as a welcome consequence. The Eagles also clinched a dramatic late victory against Manchester United in August, to record their first maximum points haul of the season.

Weaknesses:

But at the other end of the field, Palace are struggling to convert chances. Frontman Jordan Ayew has netted three times so far, including the last-gasp tap-in at West Ham before the international break, but only Patrick van Aanholt has scored more than one goal with the rest of the squad lagging behind.

The manager:

Hodgson has openly revealed his wish for reinforcements in the January transfer window to continue his side's momentum for a European challenge, but already Palace are arguably performing above expectations.

The London side had comfortably avoided relegation under the wily 72-year-old last season, although it remains to be seen whether the former England boss will be able to lead his current club to the next step.

Predicted finish: 11th

Despite the Eagles' flying start to the season, the likely resurgence of Tottenham and Wolves' improvement will mean that Palace will once again have to settle for a mid-table spot. They will comfortably steer clear of a bottom three scrap, however.

Tottenham
Current league position: 9th

Tottenham's current woes are unlikely to stretch across the rest of the season, but the future of manager Mauricio Pochettino remains firmly up in the air.

Strengths:

Despite the poor results piling on a dark cloud around the club, Tottenham still possess several stars capable of fashioning openings from nothing.

Harry Kane will guarantee the club at least 20 goals a season, with Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura also more than capable of chipping in. Once confidence is restored, then Spurs' centre half duo of Tony Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen will surely shake off the below-par form that has dogged them.

Weaknesses:

However, there has been a notable lack of goals in the squad aside from Son and Kane so far this campaign. Players appears bereft of confidence amid ongoing rumours of dissatisfaction with Pochettino's management, and tensions appear certain to rise until one or the other gives way.

The manager:

Despite his stellar work at the helm of the London giants, Pochettino has been unable to shake off the fact he is yet to lift a trophy in England. And it appears that the Argentine's time in charge of the club is slowly coming to an end, with Tottenham having visibly regressed on the whole since their Champions League final defeat last season.

Predicted finish: 5th

Despite Spurs' countless troubles, their form is likely to improve and the club will finish strongly to clinch fifth spot. But whether this will be achieved with Pochettino remains to be seen.

Manchester United
Current league position: 12th

Manchester United return from the international break to face leaders Liverpool in what could be a do-or-die clash for manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Old Trafford side's inability to find the back of the net may mean the under-fire Norwegian is faced with an early exit, and the club must also tackle mounting dilemmas off the field.

Strengths:

The acquisition of Harry Maguire from Leicester has been a rare shaft of light for United, although the England international is still awaiting a consistent defensive partner. The performances of Axel Tuanzebe, Scott McTominay and the emergence of youngster Mason Greenwood have also pleased supporters in what has so far been a campaign of woe.

Weaknesses:

Considering Solskjaer's goalscoring pedigree as a player, it comes as a surprise that his team are unable to find the back of the net. United's dreadful form on the road has been well publicised, and the international break is unlikely to alleviate the attacking club's issues.

The manager:

Time is likely running out for Solskjaer to salvage United's season. The 46-year-old is tasked with piecing together a run of form for his side which could reignite their fading European ambitions, but United inexplicably hover just two points above the bottom three and vice-chairman Ed Woodward may once again be forced to prematurely pull the trigger.

Predicted finish: 7th

The club's form may improve if Solskjaer is removed, but United must fix their goal scoring dilemma regardless by recruiting wisely in January in order to forge their way back up the table.

SportsLewy, Abraham & Aguero... 10 Contenders Who Could End Messi Reign In Golden Shoe by Esteedee12(op): 5:43pm On Oct 16, 2019
While the 2019-20 season remains in its infancy across Europe's top five leagues, some strikers are in no mood to ease their way in.

Goal charts are seeing numbers soar, particularly thanks to Robert Lewandowski's incredible early haul of 15 for Bayern Munich, and many of his compatriots on the continent are fixated on catching up.

So, from Lewandowski to Benzema, we look at 10 contenders who could end Messi's reign in Golden Shoe.

Robert Lewandowski - 15 goals

Club: Bayern Munich

The Polish striker is playing like his season is much shorter than everyone else's. It isn't. At this rate, he will hit record numbers by the time the curtain is drawn on 2019-20.

Lewandowski's ability to maintain his lofty standards season after season is a testament to his mentality, having seen recent years bring mounting speculation of an exit.

Fifteen goals so far, that is just in club football and it shows that everything he touches turns to goals.

Two braces and a hat-trick already in the league have seen the 31-year-old race into an early lead for the European Golden Boot.

Tammy Abraham - 9 goals

Club: Chelsea

When Chelsea finally accepted their two-window transfer ban from FIFA, there was natural trepidation that they were unable to bolster the squad after Eden Hazard's departure to Real Madrid.

The Belgian was unquestionably the Blues' main attacking threat and had become central to everything good about the team. Simply put, the offense ran through him.

But in came Lampard and the ban allowed him to put his trust in youth, namely Mount and Abraham.

And it has been the latter that is far and away one of the stories of the season so far, with nine goals across all competitions. Life after Hazard really doesn't seem so bad after all!

Sergio Aguero - 8 goals

Club: Manchester City

While Guardiola's side face a mountain to climb to make it three successive Premier League titles, Sergio Aguero is not suffering any kind of slump as he boasts eight goals in eight games this season.

The Argentine has been underrated each year as he continues to demolish records and defenses, showing no sign of a let-up as he adds years and miles to his body clock.

With the creative force around him at City, chances are never an issue and if City can rid themselves of the frailties defensively and go back to putting teams to the sword.

Aguero will again find himself with a wealth of goals to his name.

Raheem Sterling - 8 goals

Club: Manchester City

No player has improved under Guardiola at Manchester City more than Raheem Sterling.

Rid of the inconsistencies he showed when he joined the club from Liverpool, Sterling is now rightly considered one of the finest stars in world football and his attacking output is proof of that.

He managed 11 goals in 2014-15 and 10 in 2015-16 and 2016-17 before he began to take his game on to a new level.

In Guardiola's first season in charge at the Etihad he netted 23 goals and improved that to 25 goals in 2018-19 as the club clinched the Premier League title by a single point.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - 8 goals

Club: Arsenal

If attack is the best form of defence for Arsenal then there are few players the club would rather have leading the line than Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gabon striker has seven goals in eight games this season and has thrived down the middle since Alexandre Lacazette was struck down with injury.

It was 2014-15 the last time Aubameyang finished a season with less than 30 goals and so Arsenal fans have reason to be excited that Aubameyang is already fit and firing.

He has been urged to work harder for his chances but his sixth sense to be in the right place at the right time, making chances look easy, goes undervalued.

Ciro Immobile - 8 goals

Club: Lazio

He may not be best friends with his manager but by taking his anger out by scoring goals, no one of a Lazio persuasion will be complaining right now.

Immobile has strangely been the fall-guy in a number of games this season with boss Simone Inzaghi looking to freshen the side up in the second half of games.

But with eight goals already this season, seven placing him top of the Serie A scoring charts, the 29-year-old is a man on a mission to win Europe's Golden Boot this season.

He is making good progress to matching his goal return of 19 last season - but will have to continue his purple patch for some time if he is to emulate - or even beat - his 40-goal haul from 2017-18.

Victor Osimhen - 8 goals

Club: LOSC Lille

The 20-year-old Nigerian is leading the scoring charts in France in a league where most of the notable forwards are hoovered up in Paris by PSG.

Osimhen has seven goals and two assists already and has been shortlisted for Ligue 1's Player of the Month.

If he keeps this up he will be the undisputed choice for Young Player of the Year come May.

Duvan Zapata - 7 goals

Club: Atalanta

The scary thing with Duvan Zapata is that he still feels he has 'a lot of room for improvement' despite seven goals already this season.

Atalanta have flopped in the Champions League, losing their opening two group games, but that is not down to the in-form Zapata.

Behind only Immobile in Serie A, Zapata is another attracting plenty of admiring glances from Premier League sides with Manchester United the latest to get credited with an interest in the Italian press.

At 28, Zapata is in his prime moment, bullying defences in Serie A and may be tempted by a fresh challenge. If he keeps scoring goals at the rate he has so far, La Dea face an exhausting fight to keep him.

Timo Werner - 7 goals

Club: RB Leipzig

Links to Liverpool refuse to disappear and if he keeps finding the back of the net, calls will only get louder and louder for a shot at the Premier League.

The 23-year-old is fast becoming one of Europe's most exciting strikers and the arrival of Julian Nagelsmann has not derailed his ascent up the goals chart.

He is second behind Lewandowski domestically but already has two goals in the opening two group games of the Champions League.

Even at this early stage, Werner is a third of the way towards matching his best ever goal return of 21 - his first season at Leipzig back in 2016-17.

Karim Benzema - 6 goals

Club: Real Madrid

Zidane continues his reliance for goals with Benzema and he is the division's joint-top scorer after the opening eight rounds of matches.

Real Madrid are top, five wins and three draws, and have Benzema to thank for some big results, none bigger than the narrow 1-0 away win against Sevilla last month.

He is yet to strike in the Champions League but the confidence is there.

SportsManagers And 3 Owners... MILAN Have Been In Disarray Since 2014 by Esteedee12(op): 7:31pm On Oct 15, 2019
When Massimiliano Allegri was sacked on January 13, 2014, with Milan slumped in 11th and 30 points adrift of league leaders Juventus, there were plenty who believed it could not get any worse.

Allegri, all but sacked 24 hours earlier while appearing live on La Domenica Sportiva, Italy's Match of the Day equivalent, was written off as finished, but not Milan. And yet the club are now on their eighth manager in five years having turned to former Inter Milan boss Stefano Pioli to salvage this season.

Milan have had three different owners since Allegri, multiple director changes and have never again finished in the top four positions. For Allegri, he went on to win five Serie A titles, four Italian Cups and two Italian Super Cups as he wrote himself into Juventus history in that time. Ouch.

For further context on the Rossoneri's fall, the club were seventh on the annual Deloitte Rich List back in 2011, a year after Allegri guided them to their 18th Scudetto. Fast forward to the mess Pioli now inherits and the club have dropped to 18th in that list, sandwiched between Everton and Newcastle United.

'We are all waiting to see AC Milan come back to the glories of the past,' admits supporter Andrea Bricchi. 'Fans would like these last few years to have been just a nightmare.'

It was 2007 when AC Milan fans huddled into bars across the city to watch Carlo Ancelotti's side lift the Champions League trophy in Athens, Greece.

Dida, Paulo Maldini, Gennaro Gattuso, Andrea Pirlo, Kaka and Filippo Inzaghi. World class players from back to front. That was always the Milan way until the purse strings tightened, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva left for Paris Saint-Germain in 2012 and the club have never truly recovered.

Silvio Berlusconi loved the club but more so, he loved being rich and successful. It was the growing control of eldest daughter Barbara Berlusconi, following her father's divorce, that put paid to lavish outlays on the game's top stars. She noticed the hole the club was burning in the family accounts and decided it was time to reign in the spending.

Cost-cutting became the aim of the game and the club had gone from the grandest of banquets to a far more modest affair - maintaining previous successes was nigh on impossible without the investment of old as rivals roared past them.

Debts, some more than a decade old, had not been given the attention they deserved and Berlusconi sold up in 2017 in a €740million (£645m) deal as success dried up and frankly, his trophy-laden run had long ended.

In came Chinese consortium, headed up by Li Yonghong. Only their year owning the club was built on hedge fund investment and false promises, rather than safeguarded funds.

Elliott Management, who had helped finance Yonghong's deal to the tune of £100m, took legal action after two installments were not repaid on time and they secured ownership themselves.

Elliott, with the help of former Arsenal CEO Ivan Gazidis, have eased financial burdens, tidied up accounts but appear to have taken their eye off events on the pitch. Marco Giampaolo's club-record 111-day tenure became another forgettable episode in their short time in charge.

Gazidis' grand statements that Elliott and the board had 'saved' the club from bankruptcy amid growing unrest at Giampaolo's sacking and the worldwide trending movement to get #PioliOut was ill-timed at best. At worst it smacked of board-level arrogance.

Right now, Milan can't seem to get anything right.

Bricchi, a finance expert away from the San Siro terraces as CEO of Brian and partners, accepts the strides made off the pitch but keeps returning to one key theme - the club's systemic failure to get it right on the pitch.

'To grow up you must win,' he adds. 'This is why fans saw the arrival of Giampaolo, his sacking and, finally, Pioli's announcement, as a total and definitive mess. It seems to signal that the company puts the football in the background. And this is not acceptable for fans who were used to dominating.'

So, on the pitch, where did it go so badly wrong? Out went Allegri and in came one of the club's most distinguished midfielders, Clarence Seedorf. But 19 games later - despite winning 11 - Seedorf was sacked. Next.

In came Inzaghi, the 2007 Champions League final hero, to steady the disintegrating ship. Inzaghi, nicknamed Superpippo, boasted 10 titles during his time at the club but a mid-table finish cost him his job after one season. History counts for little when the head is on the block. Minutes after his sacking Sinisa Mihajlovic was announced as his successor.

Things improved, slightly, under Mihajlovic but he was frankly dealing with Japanese knotweed. With six games to go in the 2015-16 season, with the club sat sixth, outside of those desired Champions League spots, Mihajlovic was out. Berlusconi was giving Lord Sugar a run for his money with the speed of the sackings.

Ancelotti, perhaps wisely, rejected the chance to return and so in came youth coach Cristian Brocchi. Milan fans were forgiven if they could barely keep up with who was in the dugout. It felt like as soon as they learned the name of the latest boss he was frogmarched out of the club.

Brocchi saw out the season and then faded back into the background as Vincenzo Montella came in for his 64-game streak. What Montella, even though it eventually all went wrong, as it does with most managers at the club, managed that those before him could not was a trophy.

Winning the Italian Super Cup in 2016 following a penalty shootout win over Juventus ended a five-year drought without silverware. It was small fry compared to league titles or Champions League honours, but it was something.

A sixth-placed finish in his first season saw Milan book a place in Europa League qualifying the following year. Milan were far from rid of the weeds that blighted the post-Allegri era but Montella looked to be the closest to ripping them out for good.

Then came the heralded Chinese investors, Milan were back (or so fans thought). A €200m(£175m) spending spree followed that summer and fans were dreaming of their return to the top. But five wins from the opening 11 games in Serie A in 2017-18 condemned Montella to the scrapheap alongside Seedorf, Inzaghi, Mihajlovic and Brocchi.

And so despite the previous disasters of using former players to salvage the club, Milan ignored their own reasoning to replace Montella with former midfield terrier Gattuso. Promoted from his role coaching the club's Under-19s to step up, Gattuso was tasked with making the club hard to beat, as well as ensuring the expensively assembled machine could steamroll to success.

The now famously coined phrase that in football it is 'sometimes maybe good, sometimes maybe s***,' Gattuso succinctly summed up the life of a manager in Milan.

But like his predecessors, a failure to secure Champions League football saw him sacked. He came closer than most. But close does not let you dine at Europe's top table. All this unfolded as Allegri threw title after title after title after title aloft over in Turin.

The expensive assets signed under Montella, such as Leonardo Bonucci, were shipped out to ease a wage bill that had risen to eye-watering figures for a club so long detached from the Champions League. Young players with future sell-on value became the focus, talents like Lucas Paqueta and striker Rafael Leao, signed in the summer from Lille.

Giampaolo's reputation in Italy was largely harboured from his ability to develop young players and turn them into prized assets. Look at his work with Lucas Torreira at Sampdoria before he was snapped up by Arsenal. Milan wanted that on a large scale; there was optimism he would be the man to build the club back up.

But investment was limited, Elliott keen to avoid flirting with the debts of the past. He was building a full-scale house with lego bricks and expecting it to survive the hurricane from big-spending Inter and Juventus.

Many supporters felt while early season form had real cause for concern, the ongoing hire-fire approach was a disease the club needed to be rid of. Things would never improve without some form of stability.

And yet, despite beating Genoa 2-1 recently to leave Milan 13th, four points off the Champions League places, Giampaolo became a history maker for the shortest reign of any AC Milan manager ever. A new low, even for the Rossoneri.

'If you buy a Ferrari then you need to use it, you can't just keep it in your garage as it's too expensive,' Bricchi added.

'It is just pretty sad, for a fan like me, seeing Inter get it right now. They have always been the losers, the 'born after', the funny cousins. And now we are sadly taking their place. But like in a comedy, or in Rigoletto (a three-part opera), the joker can't dominate the Duke. So we will go back to our place, sooner or later, that is for sure!'

Whether Pioli is a Blackadder fan or not, the popular British sitcom best sums up what the 53-year-old is walking into - in case he does not know the scale of his job here.

'We're in the stickiest situation since Sticky the Stick Insect got stuck on a sticky bun,' Blackadder said. Pioli would be forgiven for thinking the same.
