Sorry for the poor reception you were given, unfortunately you fell into wrong hands. Any Nigerian you see on this thread is likely to be a crook, trying to look for desperate means to travel.
Aunty you have reached here again.you need to stop constituting nuisance everywhere.if something went wrong in your life at some point,it's nobody's fault!not everyone is a criminal as you think.by the way,who hurt you??you are so bitter.get well soon!!!!

NIGERIA

So, I was a fairly popular guy in my school area back in Nigeria (not because of any extraordinary feat or something) but because I was to techy guy, the go-to guy when you have any issues with your laptop, phone, Internet or any thing technology. My course of study was nowhere near this field though, it was more like a hobby.

I didn't graduate though. I left my course of study (a professional course) and ran away. grin

News about my "janding" has filtered round, people whom I don't know have started blowing up my phone lines and social media accounts, even the girls who pretend not to see me have started jumping into my dms.
Nigerians are hypocrites though.

Lol.your story is very similar to mine and I can relate to a lot of things.though am here on vacation, people have just been sending messages of 'how u take do am' and 'help me'.even people that we dont even talk on norms.hope you are enjoying the Chicago weather?

LookmanTalk:
1. Who are you now going to see in the US since you did not attend your uncle's wedding?
2. What are the reasons you could not make it for the wedding since you got your visa?
3.How much are you travelling with?
4. Who will be picking you at the airport and where do you intend staying?
5. How long do you intend to stay for and doing what?

These are some of the likely questions you would be asked, when you respond then I can start advising..

But know one thing, you showing up at another POE from the one declared is a 'RED FLAG'..

1.during my interview,I also stated that I'd be spending time visiting my cousins.so that's what I'd be doing
2.i couldn't make the trip because I had school work and another family issue came up
3.im thinking between 300 & 500 dollars.i won't be staying in an hotel but at my cousin's house.i stated that already on my DS-160
4.i intend spending 3weeks and coming bk home.these weeks would be spent sightseeing with family and a few friends

A roundtrip from New York to Houston will never cost $250 let alone $500.
Before the poster travel.. he should purchase a ticket from New York(JFK) to Houston as of today it cost $90 but it will go down by next week tuesday and wednesday to around $55. Be patient
.

Thank you @seyewest.but I am a 'she' o grin

My take: you will just have to explain yourself well to the CBP at POE giving a valid reason why you couldn't show up for the wedding.

As per going to Texas by road from NY, the trip alone will take like 2 days. Na long journey and if u decide to go by air it will set you back upwards of $500 dollars for a round trip. So weight ur options well.

Wow.it's indeed far.thanks for replying

good day forum members, pls i'm a little confused on some things and i'd appreciate it if you guys can help with answers.I got my visa in September to attend my uncle's wedding but due to some personal circumstances,i couldn't make the wedding.now,i have decided to travel after my exams in December for Xmas. but here's why am confused;

1.would i have any issues at POE just because i didn't travel for the wedding when i was supposed to since that was my main reason for applying for the visa?

2.the wedding was meant to be in texas but i have decided to use newyork as my POE. Texas is still going to be my final destination but i want the travelling experience and flights to newyork are relatively cheaper than flying to houston, texas.

3.Is it advisable to travel by road from newyork to houston for a first timer?if so,how do i arrange and pay for bus/train tickets.if not, would i have to book a connecting flight from newyork to houston before travelling?
pls guys i would love if you can really help me with this.this is going to be my first time travelling and i dont wanna make any mistakes especially at the POE.thanks

Getting the US Visa obviously isn't the most difficult thing (now I know). I think it has to do a lot with purposefulness and confidence.

I am a 20 something, single (without kids), Virgin passport holder and still got approved. I did my homework though.....read well over 300 pages of US Visa threads her on Nairaland.

My Transcript

I was interviewed by a guy...probably in his late twenties or so. I think he manned Window 3.

ME: Good Morning

VO: Your Passport please

ME: There you go.

VO: Where are you going?

ME: Texas

VO: Why are you going to Texas

ME: For a 2 Weeks training on Selective Electroplating with Sifco ASC

VO: Selective what?

ME: Selective Electroplating, It is technology that is used to repair and enhance machine parts and components.

VO: What do you do?

Me: I'm an Electroplating Engineer, I operate Electroplating machine to repair machine parts.

VO: Have you travelled before

ME: Nope (while shaking my head in disagreement), although I just graduated from the University.

VO: What did you study?

ME: Mechanical Engineering

VO: Which school

ME: Ladoke Akintola University of Technology

VO: Okay, your Visa has been approved.......he hands me the White paper and ask me to pick up my visa on Thursday.

Everything happened so fast.
I naturally tend to speak fast especially when tensed and that helped a lot (or so I think). I didn't take a pause to answer any of the questions. He asked, I answered.

I'll narrate my police harassment experience later.

My transcript wouldn't be complete if I don't say a Big Thank you to all the selfless people here on this thread (especially LadyGuinivere kiss and SeyeWest). I literally knew all that I needed, had a graphical understanding of what to expect, and walked right through the whole process.

Thank you guys kiss.

I can relate to this.i got my visa last month too.am single and in my early 20's.virgin passport also
