Yes my oil darkens immediately after change. Im really concerned. The exhaust smoke is dark.

OP TAKE your car to a proper garage that has diagnostic equipment. There are too many things that could cause Black smoke, including a faulty Engine Ecu.

Pls I have this issue of my car bringing out black exhaust smoke after start up and whenever the throttle is matched on.

This is giving me a big concern considering the fact its a recently purchased vehicle and no "check engine" light is showing for me to diagonise it.

Your car is consuming fuel excessively and this can be due to a number of reasons. Does your check light come on before you start your engine? i.e when instrument cluster lights come on.

Yes it comes on before i start the engine, then disappears afterwards.

GAZZUZZ:
that there is no check engine light, Does not mean there is no code. Bulb might have been deleted, or connected to give a false impression that there is no error.

@Gazzuzz, the check engine light comes up when im starting the engine. So i think the bulb is still intact.
Im just confused on that.

Don't try this in a Toyota or lexus, OP stick to the recommended ATF I suggested for you. It might be expensive, but its cheaper than buying another gearbox and paying for installation.
Don't even think of such Engine oil called Mobil XHP.
Now let's run a quick maths
Mobil XHP 1000 is NGN3500 x 6months = 21,000
But an average 5W30 is circa 8,000-13,000 and you're using it for 5,000miles or 6,months. Now which is more cheaper?

I recently bought RX300 and discovered that the gear oil is dark. The engine oil is also dark. My friends were advising me to only change the engine oil and leave out the ATF. Pls is the gear oil supposed to be dark? Should i proceed with the 2 maintenance.
Pls what make of ATF and engine oil is recommended for Rx300.

I really appreciate my fellow nairalanders for advice and suggestions for decision making. Thank God, I just bought a Lexus RX300 2002 model but my mechanic is advising me[b] not to install[/b] additional security in that car considering the fact that it comes with anti-theft alarm.

I'm not fully convinced on his advice. Please is there any need for additional security for RX300 apart from car tracker? If there is, please what is the type? I'm sceptical because of the security situation in Nigeria.
